Jesus gives the Apostles authority to cast out unclean spirits and cure the sick. This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people He gives the power to. The Pope, Bishops, and ordained priests all have been given authority by Christ to forgive sins, consecrate the Eucharist, anoint the sick and give them last rites, to Baptize in the name of the Trinity, to confirm the Holy Spirit in us, to witness a couple making wedding vows. All of us are called to be saints, with a specific role for our journey. Ask Jesus what your role is in this life then take nothing with you but your walking stick and be amazed at what Christ will do through you!
