Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

As Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath,
his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain.
At this the Pharisees said to him,
“Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?”
He said to them,
“Have you never read what David did
when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry?
How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest
and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat,
and shared it with his companions?”
Then he said to them,
“The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.
That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.”
 Mk 2:23-28

Jesus reminds us of a very important point today, church on Sunday is not a requirement founded by the Catholic Church or the Jewish faith, it is a requirement of God.  God rested on the 7th day.  The 3rd Commandment is to keep holy the Sabbath. Many Christians fail in their duty and responsibility to God on Sundays.  Some of us go every Sunday because we have to, not because we want to.  Some of us go but we go through the motions.  It is easy to do.  So what is the point?  Jesus tells us today, “The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath”.  God calls His people together to give them the grace they need to have their sins forgiven when they receive Jesus, to fight serious sin, to listen and learn the Word that is living and effective and will never pass away, prepare their hearts for heaven, and most importantly to bring us all back to the foot of the Cross on Golgatha where we are cleansed by the blood of Christ.  Every holy Sacrifice of the Mass, God takes us back to the foot of the Cross to see Jesus suffer for us so that we may be cleansed of our sins.  Then, we might start to realize the need to die to self, carry our crosses and offer the suffering up to Jesus, and put Christ on.  GOD DOES NOT NEED US, WE NEED GOD!  We must humble ourselves and realize how awesome and mighty God is. Then, He really outdoes Himself by giving us the most He possible can as God, by giving us His Son Jesus in the Eucharist as a sacrifice until Jesus returns.  What an awesome God!  We literally get to put Jesus in us at Mass. WOW!
We go to worship our Creator instead of our cell phones, video games, social networking sights, or ourselves.  The Devil does such a good job of distracting us from the Truth, we start to doubt whether God even exists.  When God is absent, misery prevails, Light is absent, and hope is snatched away.  Without hope, Light, or God nothing is True and we are left to fend for ourselves.  What a scary thought?   We need God!  He has given us everything we need to come to Him.  It is vital for us to go to Church on Sundays and receive Jesus, we cannot get to heaven without it!

Today’s challenge: Go to Mass every Sunday.  Try to go to daily Mass once a week, too.  Recognize we need God, He does not need us.
