Prayer Prompt before reading LK 4:14-22: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and who God the Son is so that I may know who I am.

“TODAY THIS SCRIPTURE PASSAGE IS FULFILLED IN YOUR HEARING.” LK 4:14-22

Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus reveals the greatest Truth today, He is the Messiah.  What is so important about the Messiah? He gives us sight to see and understand what He has come to reveal about our Creator who is madly in love with His creation. He sets the captives from slavery to sin, so we can get back to our Father. He gives hope to the hopeless. He gives our lives purpose and mission.

He stands in His home Temple, reads the prophecy of Isaiah, then says, “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing”.  Is there any other way we need to hear it then straight from His mouth?  Jesus just spoke to the world, He is the Messiah.  The One to set us free from sin and death and reconcile us, the poor sinner, with God.  This is life changing, it is revolutionary.  It is the most bold statement by any person.  Either Jesus is who He says He is or He is a bad man. -C.S. Lewis

Therefore, it is easy to see why the Jews rejected Him.  He was a poor man (from the other side of town), the son of a carpenter, an ordinary family.  When He reveals himself to his closest companions, the disciples, they often have a hard time believing him and reject him, too.  It is so difficult to wrap our minds around the idea that Jesus is the God-Man.  It requires a free gift from God, faith.

Love changes that for all of us.  As John closes his letter in the first reading, he says, “And the victory that conquers the world is our faith”. Human reason can only take us so far.  We must take the leap and rely on faith. It is a difficult leap, but it conquers the world and leads us to the promised land.

Do you believe Jesus and what He revealed to us today?  To believe means to belong. We belong to God, branded by Him at our baptism welcomed into His eternal family. Are you ready to start loving?  Love is a decision.  We are asked by God to respond to His love for us and be loved.

The Good News: Jesus, the long awaited Messiah, is the God-Man, died on a cross, resurrected, and restored our relationship with the Father. Our brokenness is restored, we are loved, we belong, the lowest of the low belongs and is loved. God’s love is more powerful than all the powers of this earth and this love lives in us. It is what we are designed for and how we have entered into existence.  Stop fighting it, stop doubting, and begin not only to exist, but live.  St. Pope John Paul II said the Christian life is “a great adventure”.  ”Be not afraid”. Start living!

Today’s challenge: Prove to God you love Him by following the commandments and treating others the way you want to be treated.  Love. Believe. Belong.

Be a servant, become a saint!

What stood out to me was “Human reason can only take us so far. We must take the leap and rely on faith. It is a difficult leap, but it conquers the world and leads us to the promised land.” this stood out to me because If we were to never take that leap than we would be ransacked and possessed by sin and satan.

In today’s Gospel Jesus is going back to his hometown and goes to the synagogues and reads from the scroll and then after closing it he says that he is the messiah the one true son of God

The Gospel is telling me today that God is always with us and He never leave. He watches over us everyday and night, throughout our entire lives. Everyone praised God because they all knew He is the One and Only God. Sometimes we don’t see it and other times we do. Sometimes we only go to Him if we need Him but we should go to Him all the time no matter what.

Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
    He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
This part stuck out to me because it is basically saying that when you hear the scripture you need to do what the lord (scripture) is saying. If it is telling about how Jesus fed the poor, feed the poor. If Jesus did a kind acr, you do a kind act, and so on. <—This is what the message reminded/told me. (these sentences).

We need to have faith in him. if we dont have faith we will not talk to him or love him on a deaper level. Are human minds can only takes us so far with out faith. it hard for some people to belive that God was actully man and that is where you need faith to show he is man and God.

“TODAY THIS SCRIPTURE PASSAGE IS FULFILLED IN YOUR HEARING.” LK 4:14-22. To me this is saying that today’s scripture passage is fulfilled in our hearing. So for me this is saying that even if we did not go to mass today the scripture that was said is fulfilled.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if one of your friends just randomly said “Hey man, you know all of those prophecies, yeah, they’re all talking about me.” Being friends with Jesus 2000 years ago was the best thing you can possibly have because He is always doing all of these crazy amazing things, and He is your best friend. If you really think about being friends with God, you might think it is just a straight path right to heaven and the road is indeed not very narrow. You will still have to believe that He is God and all of the Apostles struggled with that. Jesus just selected 12 random dudes off the street, so if you think that you are just some random person that God doesn’t care about, just think about how Jesus picked His Apostles

Jesus asks us all to come to him and surrender ourselves fully to him. Most people think they need to be fixed or healed before they give up everything to him but actually that’s the opposite of what he wants us to do. Jesus wants you to come to him broken so that he can fix you so that you realize that Jesus is the only one you will ever need. Jesus healed the blind, deaf and even the dead so I am sure he can heal you.

in today’s Gospel Jesus revealed to the Jews that He is the Messiah, the Jews were weary because Jesus was a poor man and a son of a carpenter. They thought that the Messiah was a political king, but a spiritual king.

In today’s Gospel, we learn that God defends people whom nobody defends. God gives those who are on their own with no one to love hope, justice, and grace. The people who are hurting, He heals. God champions those who are weak, forgotten, or mistreated by others. We need to do the same. In order to get to Heaven, we have to be more like Christ. Giving someone a simple smile, or a hug, or just talking to them. Everybody wears a mask. No one knows what is hiding behind it. We don’t know what anyone is truly going through. So for the people who need help, we need to help them. That is how we will get to Heaven.

This reflection really old me about how even when Jesus was showing his disciples the most amazing thing (him being the Son of God) they did not always accept him and doubted him. This really shows that you truly can not please everyone. There will always be someone that doubts you or looks upon you poorly. It proves that no matter how hard you try, it is impossible to make everyone believe the same thing.

““Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” And all spoke highly of him.”
It was not usual for a carpenter’s son to also be God so they would never believe what he said… until this day, “And all spoke highly of him” That is something that never would’ve been if it hadn’t been proclaimed. Jesus is fulfilling the Gospel here and no one is believing… because they don’t wanna be different, they thought He would be a king, not a carpenter’s son. But in the Gospel it says that the less are doing his will, more than the greater. Sp would he not be born from someone in the lowly? Believe in Jesus.

If that doesn’t say He loves us, then I don’t know what else He could do to show us.God gives us the light of day and the ability to wake up every morning which is the greatest gift of all. Jesus dying on the cross for our sins ad to save us from hell is the greatest sacrifice He could ever do for us. We should choose to get up every day and make our lives about Jesus.

In the bible Jesus says “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” He told them that he was the son of God yet they still didn’t belive him. He healed people and they still didn’t belive him. If he was here today we probably wouldn’t belive him either. We need to trust in God and belive in him. If we don’t he could stand right in front of our face and we wouldn’t notice.

Today in the Gospel Jesus reads a scroll after returning to Narzareth. He reads about how the Son of Man will come to help the poor and give sight to the blind and others. He says that today the passage will be fulfilled. Jesus is telling the People how he is there to help the needy, the people who need help. The ones who have fallen away. He did not come for the righteous, but rather the people who do not know God.

I very much agree and I also think if we want to have a relationship with God we both have to be all into the relationship not just him so we have to give him everything we can provide.

Jesus came and LITERALLY saved us, if lets say he never did this every person on Earth would undoubtly go to hell for the rest of theyre life and its a fact because all of us had sinned atleast once. every sin has the same evil and same worth in my eyes. some are worse things to do yes but technically they all have the same value, death and Hell. jesus came down to Earth died for our sins and saved us so we came live through him for the rest of eternity and we can be free and happy and dont have to worry about sadness, death, pain, or even any sin.

So many of us take for granted all the weekly and Sunday mass we attend. We must use these times of prayer to really care and use the time well spent with God.

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” Jesus is telling us that he has come to save us. He has come to rescue us from sin so that when we die we shall meet him in heaven.

Today’s Gospel is about how Jesus travels to His hometown and prayed. He went to one of the synagogues and read the scroll of the Prophet Isaiah. He rolled it back up, with everyone listening in, and said “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearts.

What I got out of the Gospel is that God is always with us no matter who we are and no matter where we are because his love for us is endless. He even sent down his only son to save us from our sins.

In today’s gospel Jesus reveals to them that he is the messiah and things are fufilled through him. He shows that through him he anoints us and he lets the oppressed go free and many other things. This is why we should always believe in him and follow him. He frees us from our temptations and he helps us with our struggles.

From the Gospel I got that Jesus wants to help us, it says he gives sight to the blind, I feel like this means that we need to do what God made us to do, imagine you get to talk to Jesus and he asks you why you didn’t do what he chose for you because your were trying to be some one else. You need God to open yours eyes and see what he sees in you when he gave you all yours gifts.

In today’s Gospel, it talks about when Jesus returned to Nazareth to read a passage from Scripture. When he was finished, he rolled up the scroll and said, “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” and the people were amazed. Jesus was the fulfillment of the Scripture, right in front of the people! No doubt, they began to question and doubt that Jesus WAS really the Son of God. I mean, just imagine today. Your friend walks up to you and says, “Hey, I can fly.” You’d probably doubt them and ask for proof, right? Then, your friend takes flight and you are amazed and now believe that your friend can fly. Likewise, the people doubted that Jesus was God, so Jesus performed miracles to prove that he was God.
Let us have unwavering faith in God because he can change our lives through us.

“He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free” this stood out to me in the Gospel as well as “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing,” because the beginning phrase is stating what Jesus was sent to do and the last phrase is basically Jesus saying He will keep his promise and he will open eyes to see and bring free will to the people bound in chains mental, physical, and spiritual and free the tyrannized.

Today Jesus is showing that he is the one he is revealing more and more to us each and every time he speaks in the Gospel. By the word of his mouth he fulfilled a prophecy. How powerful is that? We can know this prophecy but we have to put in the effort to know him. God might come to you in different ways but the big decision is left upon us all we have to do is say yes. That goes with today’s challenge.

That is how we will get to Heaven

When Jesus said what he did after reading the scroll. He showed great courage. Even though many people around him did not believe him or thought badly of him. We need to live our lives in this way. Unashamed of who we are in Jesus

I believe that in today’s gospel Jesus is telling us that we are anointed and we bask in his presence because we should be in awe of him and his saving power. Jesus is the one that saved us from our sins and so we must be in awe of how wonderful he is.

“Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
    He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.” This stuck out to me because you need to listen to what God tells you. When Mary told the people “Do whatever he tells you” They did, and a miracle was performed.

Its easy to reject someone who is poor. That was like Jesus he was in a poor family, but it doesnt matter if someones poor or mean you should always bring them comfort and love like how Jesus did. The Holy Spirit is upon us to help us and that the Lord has anointed us all. We are all call to preach Gods word and listen to Jesus. Jesus’s word is magical.

“Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.” The people that praised and worshiped Him were the same people that turned against him and cheered for Him to be crucified.

“Human reason can only take us so far. We must take the leap and rely on faith. It is a difficult leap, but it conquers the world and leads us to the promised land”. This stood out to me because having faith in something or someone is really hard for me. I not really trusting things I cant see, hear, or touch. It is very hard thig for me to overcome but i beliive i can do it.

what i got from today’s gospel was that god gives us a reason. he has always given us a reason and sometimes people just choose not to see it. The prophecies were fufilled through Jesus’ life and people CHOSE not to believe in him. God gives us free will and that free will does include love. People resented him and even his closest friends turned on him, but he still did the fathers will. Can you even imagine what that must’ve felt like to be treated as an outcast to some of the closest people you’ve ever met in your life? If that was my situation I honestly would’ve doubted my mission and I would’ve thought about stopping now. That is what makes the story of God so beautiful, the fact that no matter who turned on him no matter who cursed him, he knew that god had greater plans for him than anyone else could give to him. The moral of the gospel story is that it was very hard for Jesus to go through that, to give everyone evidence that he WAS the MESSIAH and they just couldn’t find it in their hearts to take off the blindfold. Jesus gives us love, he gives us a reason to believe, so will you believe? #christianYODO

I think the phrase ¨it is easy to see why the Jews rejected Him. He was a poor man, the son of a carpenter, an ordinary family.¨ Shows alot because it tells us how we shouldnt look at a persons belongings, wealth, and family to tell how we should treat them or judge their character from it whatsoever. Jesus didnt have alot to his name yet he showed his wealth not in money but through his wisdom and kindness. He spread a lot more than money could through his words and I think we should use him as a primary role model for how we treat others, and not just through how I am explaining it. He is a great role model through everything he does and everything he says.

In today’s Scripture it is talking about how Jesus will never leave us alone and he will always be at our side no matter what happens. We need Jesus and he needs us and we need to do our part since he his part by dying on the cross and saving us from all evil. Jesus fills you with his love and grace and we are empowered by the spirit of himself. We should thank God for everything he has done for us and what he has given, the gift of life and the gift of being freed from sin.

Jesus is saying that he will proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord. I find this cool, because in the time system of BC and AD, AD stands for Alto Dominium, which is The Year of Our Lord. He proclaims it with his birth, which was the Change between Before Christ and The Year of Our Lord.

God is with us and he will never leave our side ever. Everyone would always praise God because they knew he was the one and only God there ever was. he will always help us in times of need Sometimes we don’t see it and other times we do. even though we only go to him when we need it, he wants us to need him all the time.
