Prayer Prompt before reading LK 6:36-38: Come Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” LK 6:36-38

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today’s Gospel is taken from Luke’s Sermon on the Plain which is similar to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. The section today’s Gospel is taken from is “Love of Enemies” and how to treat our neighbor. What speaks to my heart the most is that we are all sinners. We fail to do the Father’s Will by judging, condemning, being selfish, labeling, and sinning.

I often see this in myself as a father trying to teach my own children to be holy. It’s hard. I sometimes get on them about something when I don’t model it well myself. It doesn’t mean that I stop disciplining with tough love, but I try to be mindful of how I am living what I am teaching them myself.

God will be the final judge of our lives and He judges. We are called to judge as fathers, mothers, teachers, judges, etc., but when we judge it must be based on God’s laws and He is love and mercy with justice. He has compassion (suffers with) on us, but He taught us sin has serious consequences.  His love and mercy are so great that He gave His only Son to die for us.  God’s love is more powerful than anything in the world!  This is why He is so radical to teach to even love our enemies.  This is crazy talk!  This is radical love!  God’s love overcomes everything and He wants to share it with you.

We are called to recognize the love and mercy the Father has for us, so that we too can love and be merciful to others. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Are you willing to lose your pride and think of others before yourself in all that you do today?

Today’s challenge: Try to live without judging today, what someone is wearing, how they look, how they talk, what they said, and if they say something that hurts or offends you, be ready to forgive. Love the unlovable in your world today.  Give expecting nothing in return. It’s hard being a Christian! Only with God’s grace can we fulfill what Jesus wants us to do in today’s Gospel.

Be a servant, become a saint!

what this means to me is that we are called to be merciful not because others deserve it but because we ourselves have been treated with compassion despite our mistakes. Jesus with love us no matter what happens or what we do we need to show equal love with everyone and treat others how we want to be treated. We just need to mirror how we treat other people

Today’s Gospel is telling me to really pray, and try to believe in him. Due to – “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” it just sticks out to me due to it also saying we should try to act like the lord, though i will say dont try to perform Miracles unless given permition. Otherwise you are trying to impersonate God too much.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us to be like His Father. We need to stay true to ourselves and not try to change who we are for others. God made us the way we are and we can’t change that. We need to strive to be more like Christ! God didn’t make this world so we could bring others down. He made this world so we could build each other up and eventually get each other to Heaven!

This is saying that everything will have a consequence; whether it will be good or bad depends on the act and all acts are repaid equally.

I really like this Gospel because it is the golden rule: treat others how you want to be treated. I also especially like it because it is something great to live by; if you have this posted somewhere you will see it everyday and really know what you’re doing, you’re good. If you just be kind to others, don’t worry about things you shouldn’t, and help someone when help is needed. So pray today and everyday for the kindness, mercy, and peace of Jesus.

This Gospel today is kinda talking about karma. Sometimes it can be good sometimes it can be bad, it just depends on what you do and how you act on it. If you do something good, someone will do something good to you, if you do something bad, something bad will happen to you. So you should always be doing something good, for you should treat others how you wanna be treated. Love others and they will love you. Be kind to others, and they will be kind to you. Hurt others and they will hurt you. Always do something good. Even if you do something bad, God will love you, but if you want to reach Heaven, good is the way to go.

I don’t think that is always the way it works, but generally if you do something nice for others it will come back to you.

You can be nice to a selfish person and they won’t thank you or return any favors. This is where God’s love becomes powerful. His love is unfair and generous.

it takes nothing to be kind. In this gospel he tells us “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” we spend so much of our lives judging and being rude to others, because its what everyone tells us is right. what we don’t know is those that we judge could have a lot more going on in their lives. Walking down the street you may see someone with a weird outfit on, but what you don’t know is he just lost his house and cant afford to buy new clothes. you may see someone walking down the street with knotted or greasy hair, but what you don’t know Is that they don’t have the energy to get out of bed to take care of themselves. we get so deep in to judgement we forget that the world doesn’t revolve around us. there are so many people on this earth struggling and we chose to make their suffering worse. Sometimes the happiest people are the ones who get judged, because they know what it’s like and they choose not to judge others. This gospel says “Stop judging and you will not be judged.” which tells us that we need to worry about ourselves and not let other people ruin our day, whether its someone judging us, or letting the feeling of judgement over take us.

Forgive and you will be forgiven.”

In today’s Gospel God wants us to be like Him because He wants us to forgive others and stop judging. He wants us to love, have grace, and generosity rather than judgement or resentment. He wants us to mirror his love for others as He loves us.

The way you treat others is how you are treating God. The way you judge others is how your heavenly father is going to judge you. The phrase ” treat others how you want to be treated” is often used. But, instead you should treat others with respect and kindness even when they do not treat you the same.

I think the phrase ¨Are you willing to lose your pride and think of others before yourself in all that you do today?¨ is very important because I think whats really holding people back from forgiveness is our pride. We cant whatsoever see people as before us and that leads us to stray away from giving other people our forgiveness. I think we all need Jesus as a role-model in everything but especially through forgiveness because even though he was beaten and humiliated he forgave those who put him through such agony and I think we can all strive to be more like him.

It really stuck out to me how whenever we try to show someone to be holy, we sometimes don’t be that role model ourselves for that person or just anybody in General. It’s mindful that when you are teaching someone how to be holy, we should be able to live that before empowering others with the Holy Spirit. Jesus has taught us that we are sinners, and with every sin, comes a consequence. His power, love, might, grace, and forgiveness, that he gave us his only begotten son do die for us, to die on a cross, just to save us from sin, to save his room the evildoers. I really love how it says that God teaches us to love our enemies because God loves everyone equally. Jesus teaches to recognize his love and his mercy, because these gifts are so special, we don’t deserve this, but God does everything he can to make a better life for us, to be able to get to heaven and stay away from the evil. We should not judge others, because God never judged anyone, for who they are, our for how they look, Jesus loves us all because we are sons and daughters on him. Even though we sin, God forgives us and teaches us that if we fall into sin, he will be there to catch us. He will never stop loving you no matter what. We should not judge anybody, and not ourselves either. Instead, pray to God and thank him for everything he has given you. Have a good rest of your day!! God loves you so much, he will never stop loving you no matter what. God Bless!! ¡Viva Cristo Rey!

When I read this Gospel, the first thing I thought about was how much easier it is to judge people than to be merciful to them. In middle school, it’s so easy to see someone in the hall and immediately think something mean about their outfit, or to stay mad at a friend because they didn’t sit with you at lunch. But Jesus is telling us to hit the “pause” button on those feelings.

In today’s Gospel Jesus establishes a high bar for our conduct. We are not to measure our mercy based on how others treat us, but on how God treats us. God’s mercy is not a reward for being worthy, it is a gift given while we were still sinners. To truly be merciful is to see others through God’s eyes recognizing their inherent dignity despite their flaws. We don’t judge others.

Jesus calls his followers to mirror the limitless mercy of God by choosing compassion over the natural impulse to judge or condemn others. This teaching establishes a “spiritual physics” where the standards you apply to those around you—whether they be harsh judgments or radical forgiveness—are the same measures that will be used to evaluate your own life. Ultimately, this passage promises that a life defined by generous grace and selfless giving will be met with an even greater, “overflowing” return of divine and earthly blessings.

He wants us to not judge like he is even if he was judge by all those people while he was on the cross. Another thing that stood out to me was this “Forgive and you will be forgiven.” I don’t forgive enough to be forgiven by others and that is why this stood out to me. Also while Jesus was on the cross he forgave the guards saying “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”.

If we really want them to stop thinking badly about us maybe we should stop thinking badly about them. That is one of the biggest problems in the world today we are always judging each other when we should be helping each other feel confident instead. We are puting the down and then expecting them to put us up. How is that right?

Jesus tells us to not judge for we are all sinners and are not perfect. Jesus will judge us for who we are. If we give to others we receive, if we love others we are loved, what you give is what you get; or how you treat others is how you’re treated.

I think that the Gospel today tells us that we don’t have the right to judge others in holiness or sin because we are just as weak in it. And judging others is only hurting yourself more just to hurt another person. The only thing we can do to help is be a model to others, hoping that the kindness we give to others may come back to us. Jesus died on the cross for us 200 years ago, and the only reason I’m here right now typing this reflection is because of what he did and how I am trying to return the kindness and love to him. Even if It isn’t possible, we can still try.

I really like this Gospel because it reflects the prayer of Saint Francis. It talks about the saying that is very true. Do unto others as you would want done unto you. It is the golden rule, the way to God. I went out to Pilsen to see my grandma there and I went to mass. I had Father Issac as the celebrant and heard him preach. In his homily he talked about a story he had heard. He talked about one monk at the monostery who was dying. He was innocent and kind of clumsy. He slipped up a lot and was much less than perfect and was looked down on by nearly all of the other brothers who lived there. He was on his deathbed and he heard God tell him he was going to live forever. The other brother wondered how he was going straight to heaven since they thought he was less holy and they were better. “Brother, how is it you know you are going to heaven. He said he had passed judgment. He had not judged anyone so he was not judged for his actions. We should be like this in giving people the benefit of the doubt and not judge.

In today’s Gospel, it is referring to the Golden Rule. The Golden Rule talks about treating others how you want to be treated. Jesus said to his disciples: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. We should love others so they will love. We should gift others, but not expect or want anything in return. If we gift something and expect something in return, we are considered greedy and we don’t want to be referred to as that.

a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.”
I think this is saying that what you do to people is what you will get back in return and that you should treat people with respect and not be rude to people and if you do they will treat you the same way. I think this because he is telling the disciples about what the golden rule is and how it works.

I have wondered if I do not judge or talk bad about other people if they will stop to. I wish it worked that way sometimes. Even though Jesus says that I wont be judged. What I think He is saying is the He wont judge me if I do not judge others. Which makes a lot more sense since in the world. It dose not matter if i judge you or not your are still gonna judge me. I could stop judging and hating, gossiping, and sinning but, that wont change other. They wont stop because I did. But, God will be proud if I stop. We should see that he died for us without us following that rule. He gives us everything even if we don’t care or treat others incorrectly. He is in everybody so we should treat them with respect. Even if he wasn’t we should still love those we hate because that is what he would have done.

In the Gospel, Jesus says to his disciples: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” We need to be merciful and kind to our classmates, friends, family, and everyone around us, even if not everybody is kind and merciful back to us. It’s sort of like the golden rule, but also different. In reality, if were kind to someone, there’s a likelihood that they will not be kind back. If you have faith in someone, they will surprise you sometimes.

What I think the lord is trying to tell me is that our Lord always treated us and everyone else in the world with kindness. And we just treated him like he was trash we spit one him and crucified him but he still love us with his whole heart. Which we should also try and do the same to him and everyone else around us.

“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” LK 6:36-38
Love each other as you love yourself and God. the golden rule- Treat others the way you want to be treated. that can be a big responsibility. even if your at your worst, or you made a big mistake, etc God will still love you. And that’s how you should treat other people as well. sometimes people can be mean and rude sometimes have an attitude, but you never know what going on at home with hem. so even if they are being mean keep being nice and be kind to them. Just like what God does with us.

The message I got from today’s gospel was to follow the golden rule. I should treat others how I want to be treated. Jesus said to stop judging and I will not be judged and to stop condemning and I will not be condemned. To me, this means that whatever I do to others is what they will likely do to me.

Today God is not talking about how we will be treated by man if we do these things because people don’t always repay what you do for them. However, your father in heaven will reward you for showing mercy to those in need. If you always are kind and forgiving, you reward will be great in heaven.

The Gospel today is really good, It talks about the Golden Rule, what most of us Christians want to love with. If we treat others how we want to be treated then Heaven will be easier to obtain.

In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling us that whatever we do will happen to us. If we judge others then we will be judged, if we forgive others then we will be forgiven. We should treat others how we would want to be treated and maybe it will make a difference.

What I got out of todays Gospel is that Gods love for us is unfair we can do so many wrong things and sin so much and he will still love us the same as he did before we did all those actions we must not take it for granted and think that just because God will always love us we can just go around sinning and being a bad person. We must use his eternal love for us as a weapon against sin.

“For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” Today’s gospel tells us to treat people the way you want to be treated. If you do a good deed, a good deed will come back to you eventually. We should treat everyone how Jesus treats us and forgive and be Christlike.

In today’s gospel it talks about God being our final and our only judge. We don’t need others to tell us how to live like Christ, we need to wait and take time with the Lord so he tell us how. Our judge in our lives must be through God’s law, no one else’s. God should be the only person to tell us how to love and how to forgive others with mercy.

Today’s Gospel relates to something I always think about. Practice what you preach. I see that practicing what you preach is hard to find in today’s world and that’s why the people who actually do it stand out. I find this in my own life and sometimes I may be a victim to it but that’s why you have to have God with you and know to turn to God when you have fallen victim. So that it happens less but it is our responsibility and free will that God gave us to choose to practice what we preach or not.

Something that stuck with me when i read this is that “Love of Enemies” and how to treat people when they treat you bad. and what to do when people treat you bad, do you retalitiate, take it, or do you help them. The way Jesus teaches us is to help them, we want to help them stop doing these bad actions but yet in a helpful manner and not in a harmful, disrespectful way. Lots of people may treat others bad and expect to be treated with kindness, this is NOT something you should expect people may retaliate against you if you upset them or get them mad. People will treat you how you have treated them like the Golden Rule but im here to tell you if people do treat you in a bad manner to help them stop but dont retaliate cause your making the hole deeper for urself.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us the Golden Rule, simply, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” Do not scream at others, and others won’t scream at you; forgive others and others will forgive you. But sometimes, it’s not always like this. We could help someone but then they scream at us maybe because we’re trying to seek attention. Continue to do good deeds anyway. They will notice your persistence in doing what is good and their hearts will change. Doing good deeds for others is the most powerful way to change somebody’s day. When you give up your time to help others, you are left with a greater gift as a reward – joy.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged.” People today judge anything and everything, and then condemn them into either of the 2 groups, simply if they think its “good” or “bad” and its usually not what they think as of good, people will judge you, thinking your weird. I think less people can judge nowadays. That’s not your job to be judgemental, your job is to live as christ did. Jesus wasn’t Judgemental (having or displaying an excessively critical point of view). He was loving and forgiving. So, in conclusion, the golden rule is relevant in this reading (Treat others how you wish to be treated) “Forgive and you will be forgiven” Its hard to forgive but its nessecary for salvation. This isn’t necessarily karma, you wont most definitely have something bad happen to you if you are judgemental to someone but you will feel a bit guilty, whereas on the other hand if you forgive someone, although it may be very hard you’ll feel good for doing it.

“For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” This section stood out to me today, I think partially because I had just been measuring flour for my sister cause I was helping her cook, but mainly I think, it was because of one of the movies I watched over the weekend. I watched The Shawshank Redemption on Saturday for the first time, and I had been wondering why Andy would help Ellis, a man he didn’t really owe anything to and who didn’t owe him anything. But I think I figured it out, every little thing that Ellis did for Andy, like getting him the rock carving thing, getting him rocks, encouraging him with the library, Andy held onto it all even when he escaped. Andy “turned in” the warden and without the change of warden I don’t think Ellis would ever have gotten out of the prison. While getting the warden fired was more than enough, Andy also built a connection with Ellis and saved money in a can-like thing for when he got out. Not because Andy owed him anything, but because Ellis had been generous, helped him out when he was new there and defended him. This is connected with the saying “For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you” because Andy measured and kept track of everything Ellis did for him, specifically what Ellis did for him without any reason and what Ellis did for everyone else in the prison.

When we judge, condemn, or act out of selfishness, we fail to follow the Father’s will. We are encouraged to:
Stop judging to avoid being judged ourselves.
Forgive freely so that we may receive forgiveness.
Model holiness in our own lives before attempting to teach it to others we shall always forgive eacheother. be the LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

We need to strive to be more like Christ. God didn’t make this world so we could bring others down. He made this world so we could build each other up and eventually get each other to Heaven!
