“LORD, EVEN THE DOGS UNDER THE TABLE EAT THE CHILDREN’S SCRAPS.”

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading MK 7:24-30: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

The Syrophoenician woman is a non-Jew and a foreigner. She is unclean according to Jewish law. She has not been raised in Jewish ways and does not understand or know about the story of God and His chosen people of Israel. This is why Jesus says, “Let the children be fed first (Jews).” She perseveres, “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.” She understands that she is not worthy but she believes Jesus has the power to heal her daughter whom she loves.

Faith consists of complete trust in God, vulnerability, and total surrender to His will. It’s hard. In the most difficult times in your life, the worst addictions, the hardest sin, do you believe God has the power to help you through it? Do you believe Jesus is right there with you in that suffering, that temptation? If not, what do you put your faith in? What do you believe?

As we are about to embark on another 40 days in the desert, we will be fasting, praying, and giving alms. This is a great checkpoint to see how strong your faith is. What parts of your life or sin is leading you away from Christ? Is your faith lukewarm? Do you desire holiness? Ask Jesus to increase your faith this Lenten season!

Today’s challenge: Faith begins with hope. Pope Francis said that Christian hope is born in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a belief that begins in your heart. When we realize we cannot do life on our own, we fall to our knees and ask God for help. We then start a journey of faith by seeking Jesus Christ and we sit and begin to learn about Him in the Scriptures. Once we have discovered the joy that Christ brings, we want to share it, which is love.
God, please increase in me faith, hope, and love.

Be a servant, be a saint today!

This is saying that even the people whom others put down the most have just as much of a chance at becoming great in the eyes of God.

The woman whose daughter had a demon in her was a Greek and this shows that people from all the way across the Mediterranean came to Jerusalem just because they heard about Jesus. The faith in this lady is incredible because she walked over 1,000 miles with someone to get to Jerusalem and that is an incredible amount of faith.

Today in the Gospel, it shows us that God’s mercy is not limited by race, ethnicity, or background. Jesus loves us no matter what and who we are. This idea resembles the Gospel today. A woman comes and lays at Jesus’s feet. She is a Greek, and a Jew. Jesus loved her so much that he healed her daughter. The woman believed and was so hopeful of Christ, that she believed that even the tiniest crumb could heal her daughter. That is how we need to believe in Christ. We need to trust in his plans and what He has in store for us.

“She replied and said to him,
“Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.”
Then he said to her, “For saying this, you may go.
The demon has gone out of your daughter.”
When the woman went home, she found the child lying in bed
    and the demon gone.”
This part stuck out to me due to it saying that God can send out demons, he can help us. We just need to believe that he can and will help us. If we do not believe why would he drove out demons? There is no point if you wont believe. The Lord is capable of many incredible things, we just need to believe.

in today’s Gospel, Jesus healed a woman’s child from a demon. Jesus saw that the woman knew that she is unworthy and still asked Him to heal her child. Just as the woman we are unworthy for God’s love because it is so great, and He knows that. But He still gives us His love.

In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us to trust in His plans for us and ways. The woman and her daughter believed in Jesus so much! We need to trust in Him like they did. Having trust in God is the most important thing in life even if we don’t believe it or think so!

In the Gospel the Syrophoenician woman believed in Jesus, enough that she fell at his feet and begged him to drive the evil spirit out of her daughter. That woman believed and that’s our problem, we don’t. We need Jesus, if we don’t we might have the same problems and we’re need Jesus’ help to clean her. We need love and Jesus places that right in front of our faces and we take it for granted. Sometimes we don’t even take it. We have Jesus and Mary and Joseph and God and all the angels and saints that love us and care for us yet we don’t take that love. A lot of the time we don’t take the love from our neighbors. And THATS what’s wrong with us. We need to take his love. Yet we don’t, so fix it.

The Gospel shows how merciful God is to all of his children. Sometimes we all think that we are just not cared about or not enough. We all have a Father who loves each and every one of us and we can always talk to him about our struggles.

Today’s gospel talks about a woman who wants to drive a demo out of her daughter. Jesus talks about how it would not be right to give the children’s food to the dog. She responds that the dogs eat only the table scraps. I think when she said this it was a symbol that they are humble. Doing this she showed her following of God’s beatitudes and laws so he cleansed the daughter.

He is all powerfull. Just because he isn’t visibly present doesn’t mean he isn’t working miricals in your life.

She replied with this “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.” Jesus praised her response and the demon left her daughter. Jesus seemed to not want to heal her daughter at first. He questions her and she answers correctly. This is like our life when we pray to God and ask him for something we do not receive it instantly. He tests our faith and if it still stands strong he fulfills our prayers.

Faith consists of complete trust in God, vulnerability, and total surrender to His will. It’s hard. In the most difficult times in your life, the worst addictions, the hardest sin, do you believe God has the power to help you through it? Sometimes it’s really hard to remember that God can help us through the hard times, and sometimes when we pray our prayers aren’t answered in the way we want them to be. That can lead us to thinking that if God is so powerful and almighty then why would he give me this pain, or why wont he take this pain away from me. We as Catholics have to just trust in Gods plan of salvation, because in reality Jesus dying on the cross wasn’t the end. It was just the beginning of God’s great plan of salvation to permanently save us from sin and death so we can be with him and in him forever in heaven.
