“STAY AWAKE! FOR YOU DO NOT KNOW ON WHICH DAY YOUR LORD WILL COME.” MT 24:42-51
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this:
if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,
whom the master has put in charge of his household
to distribute to them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.
Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is long delayed,’
and begins to beat his fellow servants,
and eat and drink with drunkards,
the servant’s master will come on an unexpected day
and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely
and assign him a place with the hypocrites,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.” MT 24:42-51
If we were to describe a faithful servant, what would he or she look like? Jesus says today, “Prepared”. To be prepared, we must first encounter Christ, the living God, in the Word and the Eucharist. We must learn to sit in silence and listen, then we must gain knowledge or be taught/formed (Scripture, catechism, spiritual books). Reflect in silence over these materials.
Next, a person begins to believe in their heart by gaining knowledge through faith, being baptized, rejecting Satan and relentlessly grow closer to Christ. How? Receptivity! God the Father is chasing after us, and Jesus already took our sin and suffering and nailed it to the cross, but we have to give it to Him (Reconciliation). The measure in which a person gives themselves away, is the measure in which they become full. -St. Pope John Paul II
Since the Trinity is a relationship of love, we are called into a relationship with our Savior, pray. Our grace tanks must be refilled often to live out our baptismal promises, the Eucharist-Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, and reconciliation-allow God’s grace to change your life, be transformed by Christ. This is why the saints went to daily Mass and confession regularly!
Our daily rosary must be offered up with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary meditating on the life of Christ. Walk with Jesus in the Stations of the Cross or do some type of sacrifice/fast every Friday to remind us that Christ died for us, deny yourself/kill your ego. Gain knowledge on what Jesus went through in His Passion. Every saint started at the foot of the cross with Mary. Every difficulty that burdens you throughout the day offer up with the suffering of Jesus Christ, He gives purpose to suffering.
Everyday, ask the Holy Spirit to join your spirit so that you may live with the purpose you were created for and strive for holiness. God is fully alive in us through the Holy Spirit to help us until Christ returns. We must be transformed and live as other Christ’s for the world, always striving for greater holiness for the greater glory of God. Last, sit in silence and listen so you will be, “Prepared” when the Master returns.
Today’s challenge: Be prepared. Pray, hope, and don’t worry! -St. Padre Pio One of my coaches taught me, “Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance”
Be a servant, become a saint!

What God is telling us is that if we knew when God was going to call us to heaven or when he was coming to earth we would be very holy and repent and do everything it takes to be a good catholic. But the reality is, that we don’t know, nobody knows exept for God himself and we need to always be acting like that. Because we don’t, and nobody knows.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,” This really stuck out to me because we need to be the faithful and prudent servent always willing to do the will of the Father no matter what, that is what God made us for and is what he wants us to be, his faithful, prudent, servent so we can have the keys to go to heaven.
Today scripture says to me that we must be ready for Gods call. Today in the gospel Jesus says “Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” I think this is telling us that God can call us to our vocation at any time and we just need to have our ears open to listen to him. Then when we hear his call we will know it is him because he is our father.
Today’s scripture tells us that we need to stay awake because our lord could return at any day and we need to be ready to welcome him.
What this means to me is that we need to pray but in our prayers its not enough to just talk and ask for things we have to listen to his responce to us. Becasue you can’t have a conversation with your friend without listening to them so it shouldnt be any different for our lord because even though he is our Father he is our friend as well and can help us if we listen.
What stuck out to me was “Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” This stuck out to me because I think that its saying to stay awake in your faith and not to slack back on it because the lord could come anytime and any day could be your last without knowing it. So treat everyday like your last day and strive for God.
In this scripture, Jesus is telling us to be prepared for when He may come to us or if we go to Him. If we were to do anything we want and care less about what we do every day and we were to, well, die we wouldn’t have a great ending. Instead we can prepare for Jesus’ coming by going to Mass, going to confession, and praying.
The phrase that stuck out to me was “You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” Jesus is saying to His disciples to “stay awake” and be alert so that way they aren’t caught off guard when He comes again. He is telling us the same thing in this phrase to be ready for Jesus to come back and be ready at all times because it will be when we least expect it that He will come back.
Today, the gospel is urging us to stay awake. Jesus wants us to strive for holiness, so that we can be prepared for the time when He comes again. Jesus will come again, and we need to have our souls prepared.
“Jesus says today, “Prepared”. To be prepared, we must first encounter Christ, the living God, in the Word and the Eucharist.” Stuck out to me because of the words “We must first encounter Christ.” Meaning to be prepared we need to love God.
When you least expect it, Jesus will return at any hour or day. We should be prepared at any time for the Lord to return. Jesus says, ” Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.”
“Always strive for the Greater Glory of God.” I think sometimes you have a hard time doing this, for multiple reasons. Sometimes, you just can’t remember to pray, or you don’t know what would be for the Greater Glory of God. When this happens, I like to remember Frozen 2. Do the next right thing. Sometimes you’re not sure where the path will lead if you make this decision. Sometimes you have two right choices and you’re not sure which one to choose. Just choose to the best of your ability, and trust that God will take each and every choice you take, and lead you to the best path for your soul.
I think God is trying to tell us to “Stay awake” or be ready for him to come. It says “if you knew when the thief was coming you would of stayed awake” If we knew when Jesus was coming we would probably all go to confession and be ready for him. But we don’t. I think He is trying to tell us even though we don’t know when hes coming a good servant would always be prepared for him to come anytime.
Something that stuck out to me was at the very beginning when Jesus said to his disciples ‘Stay Awake!’ For you do not know when your Lord will come, and also how Jesus explained it was also very good because he said If a master of a house knew a thief was coming then we would stay awake for the whole night, and I got from that to always be prepared for Jesus to come back and make sure to do things for him because you do not know when we will die
The scripture says to ‘Stay Awake and Be prepared’ for you don’t know which day the Lord will come. If we think the Lord won’t come to save us for another few years we might not go to the Mass to receive the Eucharist and pray or to Confession. If we knew the Lord was coming we would do everything we could to clear our sins. We should always act like our Lord will come tomorrow so we all can go to Heaven.
What stuck out to me was “If the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake.” I think it means that if everyone had known Jesus was the Lord when he came, they would have prepared and bowed down to him when he did come. So we should live our life daily as if God will come back today.
I saw that Jesus screamed to the apostles stay awake because they don’t know when God will come just like they didn’t know when the thieves would come. He also said that because you don’t know when your master will come you must stay faithful, so that you don’t get sent to a terrible place. Just like we don’t know when Jesus will come. So we must always stay faithful so we don’t get banished to a bad place.
Jesus says, “always be prepared, for you will know when the lord will come.”
What Jesus is saying is that we should always be prepared for when he comes to save us all.
He wants us to be faithful servants which is why we have to be prepared and ready for when Jesus comes again.
The scripture said to me that god is telling us to stay awake. You don’t know when and where God will come to you. The scripture says that we need to stay prepared for anything. The scripture said we need to stay away from the devil and grow closer to Christ.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us to be prepared. “For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” So we have to treat others how Christ would treat them and follow Jesus every single day. We need to receive the Eucharist and go to confession often. So that on the day the Lord comes we will be prepared.
God is telling us to “Stay Awake”, because if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into, so we too should try to stay awake for when the lord comes.
Something that stook out to me is “stay awake”. That stook out to me because we need to stay Holy and leave and pray everyday because he could come anytime now.
“You must be prepared for an hour you do not expect the Son of the Man will come” I think God is saying Jesus will come back at any time.God is saying that Jesus will come back at a time that we least expect it.Even though we don’t know when He is coming would need to always be prepared.
The Gospel means we need to keep paying attention to Jesus.
I think that Jesus is trying to tell us that we need to be ready for any time he might come. Jesus may come any day so we should all act kindly and pray. We should never turn away from Jesus and we should always remember to follow him.
jesus is teaching us dont leave god you will never know when he will come to you
Jesus said that we have to stay awake. I think he was telling us we must stay awake in our faith.
I think that God is trying to tell us to be ready and always try to be Holy, because He could come at any given moment, and even if we have only sinned once and He comes at the one time we do, we would get punished. So we should do our best and stay away from sin, but if we cannot succeed in that, we must go to confession and try again.
God is trying to tell us to stay awake because God can come to you at any time of the day if you let him through.By staying awake you might be able to talk to God if you don’t be lazy and sit down and fall asleep.Like I did not no that you have to be awake to be able to see God.
He tells us to “stay awake” because he wants us to be ready for him to come back to us.
What stuck out to me is “stay awake because you do not know what day your lord will come”. I think it is saying always be prepared for the lord to come.
I think God is saying that we should not sleep while the lord comes. Or to be ready for when he comes. God says that the master of their house will not sleep while someone breaks in so we shall not sleep while the lord comes. And that we should be prepared for Him.If we knew when Jesus was coming we would be happy and that the lord has come.“ If the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into”.
A phrase that stood out to me was “We must be transformed and live as other Christ’s for the world, always striving for greater holiness for the greater glory of God. “. It stands out to me because its right i would like to grow so much with Christ and in Christ. I wanna know more about him and just be at the point where i can sit there and enjoy his presents.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us today that we should be prepared for when he comes. Jesus says ” If the master of the house would have known the hour the theif was coming he would have stayed awake, and not let his house be broken into.” Jesus is telling us to have integrity – that even though we can’t physically see him He is here with us and at an unexpected time He will come again. We should be faithful servants until that time comes. We can remember this daily and ask the Holy Spirit to help us stay on track.
To me when Jesus said “stay awake” to me that meant for the disciples to stay loyal . But staying loyal can mean a lot of things to me it means to go to church every Sunday, praying at home if you can and just staying loyal to God is really important for us Christians. One of the easiest ways to stay loyal to God is by reading the Bible at home and the great part is that it only takes 10 to 15 minutes of the 24 you have in the day.
Something that stuck out to me was the phrase “For you don’t know the day your lord will come”. I think this means that we need to be holy all the time, not just when we are starting to get elderly or deathly sick, we should we should be holy all the time so if the 2nd coming happens during our life we will be fine.
I think the Lord is saying “Stay Awake” because he could come any day. You have to have a good relationship with the Lord always. You should always be ready for the Lord because you’ll never know what will happen. We should always be respectful towards everyone. Remember that God’s first above anything and everything. Always have faith in the Lord.
When Jesus told his disciples to ¨Stay Awake! For you do not know on which day your lord will come¨ it stuck out to me because it is like they are foreshadowing for us to stay awake and focus on Jesus while we can because he could come back at any time.
”We must learn to sit in silence then we must gain knowledge or be taught” God is trying to tell us to
to be quiet when we are told to or when we know it is not the right time to talk.He is also trying to tell us that
you should listen and focus to gain the knowledge you are learning each day and if we have trouble we should get help from someone just like how Simon helped Jesus carry the cross,we all need help in life.
Last, sit in silence and listen so you will be, “Prepared” when the Master returns.
I think it is trying to tell me to stay awake and prepared. We will never know when he returns until he does so the scripture is trying to tell me to stay awake and prepared for the time when he does come. He is also telling us to sit in silence and listen so we gain more knowledge.
I think God is trying to tell us to stay prepared. We don’t know when he will come back, so we need to go to confession and mass. We need to be holy and loving to our neighbor.
the scripture says to ” stay awake!” for we dont know what day the lord will come. if we dont believe he will come then we couldnt recieve comunion and he may come later.
I think Jesus is telling us that we always need to be ready for him whether that means in the Eucharist or us going to heaven.
This scripture to me means that you will never know when God will tell you to do his bidding but to always be prepared to do his bidding and fight against Satan.
I think God is trying to say to stay Awake! because if the master of the house had known the hour of night thw theif was coming he would have stayed awake and would not have his house be broken into. It stuck out onto me because he wants us to come back to us.
I think it is trying to tell us to be awake and prepared for satan. We will never know when he returns until he does so the scripture is trying to tell me to stay awake and prepared for the time when he does come.
I think this phrase is trying to tell us that we must be with God Stay awake for we do not know when the lord will come.
That Jesus is trying to tell us to be prepared. For you do not know which day the lord will come.
