Prayer Prompt before reading LK 6:27-38 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” LK 6:27-38
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today’s Gospel is taken from Luke’s Sermon on the Plain which is similar to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. The section today’s Gospel is taken from is “Love of Enemies” and how to treat our neighbor. What speaks to my heart the most is that we are all sinners. We fail to do the Father’s Will by judging, condemning, being selfish, labeling, and sinning.
I often see this in myself as a father trying to teach my own children to be holy. It’s hard. I sometimes get on them about something when I don’t model it well myself. It doesn’t mean that I stop disciplining with tough love, but I try to be mindful of how I am living what I am teaching them myself.
God will be the final judge of our lives. We are called to judge as fathers, mothers, teachers, judges, etc., but when we judge it must be based on God’s laws. He is love and mercy with justice. He has compassion (suffers with) on us, but He taught us sin has serious consequences.
His love and mercy are so great that He gave His only Son to die for us. God’s love is more powerful than anything in the world! This is why He is so radical to teach to even love our enemies. This is crazy talk! This is radical love! God’s love overcomes everything and He wants to share it with you.
God is love straight through, this is His being. He just loves. Therefore, His love is for the good and the bad, the holy and the unholy. Jesus loved those who were crucifying Him. Love gives continually and forgiving is for giving. Give it away over and over. I have so much work to do to learn how to love sacrificially, agape love, the highest form of love. With God’s grace, anything is possible.
We are called to recognize the love and mercy the Father has for us, so that we too can love and be merciful to others. Are you willing to lose your pride and think of others before yourself in all that you do today?
Today’s challenge: Try to live without judging today, what someone is wearing, how they look, how they talk, what they said, and if they say something that hurts or offends you, be ready to forgive. Love the unlovable in your world today. Give expecting nothing in return. It’s hard being a Christian! Only with God’s grace can we fulfill what Jesus wants us to do in today’s Gospel and become “perfect (holy) like the heavenly Father is perfect”.

In todays Gospel Jesus tells us to the hardest thing ever, to love your enemies and forgive them for whatever they have done to you. Jesus forgave all the people who hated him and tortured him.
I like this Gospel a lot because it is referenced when people say to turn the other cheek.
Today’s Gospel reminded me how much God loves us. This divine human has this deep running love for us. It’s by the grace of God that we roam this earth, and though I might forget it sometimes, God’s love is a gift we don’t deserve. So we need to know take it for granted.
This Gospel means you should treat people with kindness and forgiveness even when they are mean to you. Instead of getting revenge, Jesus wants you to take the high road and treat everyone the way you want to be treated. If you show kindness and let go of grudges, you show real maturity and character.
In today’s gospel, Jesus talks about how we should love and respect others even if those we don’t like hate us. He wants us to treat everyone with respect and kindness because it will repay us in the future for the Kingdom of God is waiting for us. Even if we are sinners, we should still love everyone and treat everyone like a loved one.
In todays scripture this is what stood out to me “Stop judging and you will not be judged.Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.Forgive and you will be forgiven.Give and gifts will be given to you;a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”So we are to not judge or not condem people and we will be righted.
In today’s Gospel it says “Stop judging and you will not be judged.” What this means to me is that we judge others and expect others to not Judge us but that is not going to happen but to not be judged then we have to not judge.
“love your enemies and do good to them,
and lend expecting nothing back”
This is telling us that we need to be kind to others and love others. We will get a great reward if we do that. That reward is Heaven.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says “Even sinners love those who love them.” It is easy to love those who love us. Everyone does and that is what Jesus is saying. We must love those who don’t love us too. That is what we are called to do. If we treat all others with love then we are doing what Jesus said and treating others as we want to be treated.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” The Golden rule is not like the rest of the rules we follow, because we don’t have to follow it. But if we want to get to heaven we do.
In todays Gospel Jesus calls us to do the hard things in life. When we love everyone, regardless of how they treat us. We are truly imitating Christ. When we only love those who love us back. We do the bare minimum. God calls us to greatness. So we should be great.
the gospel says that we should always give more than what other people take or do. it say that if someone hits you on one side, then give them the other to hit as well. or if someone takes your cloak, then you should also give them your tunic. I think its trying to tell us that none of this will matter in heaven, so don’t hold back anything.

The part of this Gospel that stuck out to me was when Jesus said, “For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.” This meant to me that if we only love those who love us, then we are just doing what is easy and we aren’t loving everyone. God calls us to not only love what people love us, but everyone.
What I took from today’s Gospel is that you should be generous. If you give someone something do not ask for it back. You should treat others how you want to be treated. Also if you do good then good things will come back to you. Jesus did so many amazing things but did not ask us for something in return.
In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling us that we should always forgive and don’t judge people, because that’s God job. God will always love us no matter what we do. He will always welcome us with open arms. He created us and thought us into existence, because He wanted us here.
I also think it is beautiful that Jesus says to love your enimys and I think that is a really cool way to live because it helps us get to heaven.

It stuck out to me cause it just had me thinking that the most powerful person died on the cross for us.
What stuck out to me, ” Stop judging and you won’t be judged, forgive and you will be forgiven, give gifts and you will receive gifts.” Why this stuck out to me is because you give nice things you will receive something in your favor.
What stuck out to me was to love your enimies. This stuck out to me because it is saying even if someone is mean or not nice to you you should still love them and be nice to them.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged” That stuck out to be because I really like the quote treat others the way you want to be treated and it’s how I see my life and how I want to treat others and become a saint and keep my faith!
Something that stuck out to me is “love your enemies.” I need this because I sometimes get bullied and I got bullied the most in younger grades. So I need to pray for them and love them as if they are my friend. And not secretly talk about them or secretly hate them.

pray for those who mistreat you”. It stuck out to me because those who can be mean deserve a second chance everyone does.
What stood out to me most was when it says for the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you. It makes me feel like if we do good and not expect good back we will be rewarded in heaven. It is just so cool that if we do good we will be rewarded by God himself.
The words that stuck out to me was “forgive and you shall be forgiven”.This stuck out to me because even if things bad have happened or someones done something rude I always try to forgive them and what they did.

I feel like what Jesus is saying here is that we should always treat others kindly. And it won’t just be like the golden rule where “you get treated how you treat other people,” but you will be rewarded in Eternal life. He calls us not to judge, not to condem, to be forgiving, give good Gifts, and we will have so much more coming in Heaven.
Do not judged and you will not be judged. This stuck out to me because it shows me that when I do something mean I have to prepare for it to come back to me. But when I’m nice, I shouldn’t expect something to come back to me, because the only reward I need is eternal life with God in heaven.
A sentence that stood out to me is to the person who trikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not with hold even you tunic. I believe this shows that you should love even the people that hurt you.
You are created to be holy love your neighbor as yourself .Even sinners to sinners and get back the same amount. Stop judging and you will not be judged. God loves you love him to do what he asks for it will be mighty just like him.
Just do what God says and love everyone
The verse that stuck out to me was this: To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well. This stuck out to me because my dad uses this verse a lot and I think it is cool. When I want revenge, I think of this verse and I know that I should not give revenge.
I really like when it says “To you who hear I say, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.” That really stuck out to me
“To you who hear I say, love your enemies. This really struck out to me because it is really hard for me to love people who I don’t like. And this phrase which is God trying to tell me is even though you don’t like someone you still should love them with all your heart.
” But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back.” I think Jesus was talking to me through this was by him telling me to help others and don’t expect anything in return.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you.” This spoke to me because this comes to us during our daily lives. Every day we judge, condemn, and we rarely forgive. What does that say to you?

do good to those who hate you” that part stuck out to me because even if someone is rude to you you shouldn’t be rude to them because why would you want to be like the person that hurt you and its always a good way to just be nice no matter what.

What stuck with me from the gospel today was love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back;
then your reward will be great. I think that God is trying to tell me is if you do good to the people who you dislike and you don’t expect anything back from them you will get yourself and others to heaven.
One thing that stuck out to me was ” Stop judging and you will not be judged”. It stuck out to me because I am one of the people that like to judged and this saying will help me not judge people anymore. It will also help with becoming a better person cause I like to judge a lot so if I reflect on the saying it will help me.

Today’s Gospel talked about the Golden Rule. “Treat others how you want to be treated.” When we do acts of kindness, we shouldn’t expect rewards. If we don’t expect it, the reward will be bigger. Don’t be kind for the rewards, but for the goodness and kindness in our hearts.
Today’s gospel is about the sermon on the plain from Luke. It talks about how to love one as yourself. It also talks about a man’s perspective of a man seeing himself as a father teaching them to be Holy. It talks about how judgement day will come and we will be judged on our actions. God’s love and mercy is so strong and powerful that he sent his only son to die for us.
“do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” When we are told to love your enemies, we often take it the wrong way. God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ. We are told to love our neighbors just how God has loved us. When we we love our enemies, we hold no grudge against them.

This verse is saying that if you stop judging people will not judge you. IF you stop condemning you will not be condemned and if you forgive you will be forgiven.
“Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.” We should give our all and no matter the anger or resentment we feel we must always forgive others.
“To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you”. In today’s gospel, this line stood out to me. That’s because Jesus is saying, even if someone mistreats you should treat them with love and kindness.
In todays gospel Jesus says “stop judging and you will stop being judged,” I think that this applies a lot to middle school because I feel like people judge a lot. It is saying that if we judge other people will so judge us but if we don’t judge people will not judge us. this is kind of like the golden rule do unto others as you would like to be done to yourself.
Jesus is saying that we should not strive for revenge but for love.
Today we are told the sermon of Jesus, to love one another as you would want to be loved, you wouldn’t want to be treated badly, so treat others nicely, you don’t get credit for loving those who love you, it’s loving those who hate you, those who have been mean to you. That is the Catholic way of life.
The thing that stuck out to me at the most was the stuff towards the end of the Gospel. It is talking about the Golden Rule, the one repeated so many times. It is reiterated here and plays on all the times Jesus says to do unto others as yourself. The rest of the Gospel zones in on Loving your enemies, and do good for no immediate reward. We should always strive to be good without even thinking about the consequences, good or bad.
God loves everyone infinitely. He doesn’t care if you’re holy or unholy, he loves you either way. That’s why we should teach or enemies love, so that they may turn to God and love him back.

I will (try to) love my enemies, because Jesus told me to. It will be very difficult,bt I will try, out of love for my father. I will pray and work hard to accomplish this goal of holiness that I have pressured myself to attain.
What strikes me the most is that Jesus doesn’t say “Love people when they deserve it” He says love people when they DON’T. The command to pray for those who mistreat you is in my mind really difficult. Jesus says something even deeper “Be merciful as your father is merciful”. Mercy means choosing compassion when you could choose to condemn them. God doesn’t love us because we’ve perfectly earned His love . He loves us because that is who He is. Jesus calls us to reflect that same kind of love toward other people.
In the Gospel today, Jesus says to love, forgive and give to people even your enemies. He says do that to people and you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
What I got from today’s gospel is that we should forgive as Jesus did. Why should we have to stay angry at someone. We should not let other people affect how we feel. We only have so much time before we are sent home to God, we should fill those days with happiness and not let other people effect us and our moods.

we are called to be holy so lets not continue bad things but stop it and be the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!!!
in this gospel Jesus is basically telling us to be selfless like him. he lists our flaws but he still loves us and he shows us how to change them. to live the most humble life so that way we can be with him in heaven forever and ever.
In today’s Gospel it is telling me to love everyone. “To you who hear I say, love your enemies” this stuck out to me it’s telling me to love your enemies even when they did something bad to you. Jesus will always love everyone and he wants you to be like him and love everyone even when they did something wrong.
There is only one true God. One true Lord. We may have idols, we may think other things are ‘real gods,’ but there is only one God. There is only one God that can save us from our sins. There is only one God we must believe in to reach heaven, and that is the true God. The true God will protect us, he will forgive us, and he will make us feel loved. False gods make us temporarily happy, but leave us feeling empty and wanting more.
In todays Gospel Jesus was saying that if people judge you or gossip about you or anything else that to not do it back because now that you have done it to your in the wrong to. Instead Jesus wants us to forgive even if the other person doesn’t forgive you or doesn’t say sorry but to still di it. We need to forgive even if that person hurt you and we need to not be rude even if they were rude to you.
Jesus is saying in the gospel that we should love those who hurt us forgive those who have wronged us. It is so hard for us to forgive little petty things but Jesus can forgive the biggest darkest part of ourselves. that to me is just fascinating just to think of doing that is physically and mentally impossible. But as it is known Jesus does the impossible. Just thinking about that can help me forgive others even when it is some grudge I hold on to. This makes it a little easier for me to forgive those who are rude or those who hurt me.

Jesus is telling me that I need to just take it and do nothing about it, which is weird to me because it means that I am going to let people walk all over me. Jesus also tells me that I need to be forgiving for those who hit or hurt me.
God says love your enemies and when they strike you on the cheek forgive them. If someone asks for hoodie give it to them and don’t demand it back.
Jesus said to his disciples:“To you who hear I say, love your enemies,do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you. You should love everyone in this world even if they hurt you. Plus always forgive them and be kind to everyone. And last but not least follow the 10 commandments to make it to heaven.
Jesus was telling me that even the least of you can love a little but expect much love back. The best of us can love most and expect nothing back and in heaven get everything they gave and it is given to them.

One part that stood out to me was, “Give to everyone who asks of you,
and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.” This is another way of saying to love and give and forgive and expect nothing in return, like Jesus when he was on the cross. He still looked at the people who persecuted Him with love.

I learned that there are many ways we can love each other. That God will always love us though matter what we do.

a part In today’s gospel that stuck out to me was “stop judging and you not be judged” which stood out to me because lately I’ve noticed a lot people judging other people, including me.
When the gospel says “To you who I hear say, love your enemies.” I feel like God is telling me to love everyone no matter who they are and what their backstory is.
Something that stuck out to me was this: “pray for those who mistreat you”. I think it’s God telling me to be kind to everybody, including people who hate me.
Jesus says to love your enemies which I think that means is that we should love everybody no matter what they do who they are, for example if they do different things than you, you shouldn’t be jelous or hateful toward them. And you should treat them like they are your friend and even if you don’t like them.

Today’s Gospel is telling us to love everyone, even those who hurt us. For we should love others as God loves us. If you give to others and don’t expect any repayment, that is the eternal reward and we will be children of the most High King, Jesus Christ.
