Prayer Prompt before reading LK 12:35-38 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“BLESSED ARE THOSE SERVANTS WHOM THE MASTER FINDS VIGILANT ON HIS ARRIVAL” LK 12:35-38
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today, Jesus uses a parable to teach us to be faithful and vigilant in waiting for His return, the Second Coming of Christ. I hate to wait. I don’t know why and still can’t figure it out, but I love to stay busy. I think it has something to do with worry, anxiety, a fear of the unknown. I am so much happier when I make myself slow down and just be present to God in whatever I am doing. I think this is the constant battle in each of our minds and in our lives.
In our part of salvation history, we await the Second Coming. Waiting is obviously still doing something. The devil uses distraction and God uses communion. May the grace of God enlighten our lives to stay present to Him. May we not allow the devil to get us anxious and worried.
May we concentrate on “the little way” by slowing down and intentionally loving in each little act throughout the day. I suck at this. With God’s grace, His faithful love and mercy towards us, may we all learn to wait in peace and be taken back to our eternal home with the Father.
Today’s challenge: Practice waiting. Get married-ha ha, had to throw a joke in there, but it is true. Set an alarm to stop yourself throughout your day to slow down and reflect on being present with God. While waiting, take time to be present with God. While waiting, pray unceasingly. While waiting, do a good deed for someone. While waiting, thank God for the enormous opportunity we have to be full of grace through the sacraments, His love, His life in us, His eternal sacrifice on the cross for us.
Be a servant, become a saint!
