“FOR THE SON OF MAN DID NOT COME TO BE SERVED BUT TO SERVE AND TO GIVE HIS LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY.” MK 10:32-45

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading MK 10:32-45: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

Jesus is teaching us how to be a saint, holy, what the Father designed us to be before the Fall. Pride is difficult to conquer, but Jesus teaches us that humility and unselfishness will conquer pride. Jesus teaches us this in the first Beatitude and God teaches us this in the first 3 commandments.

Remember, we were created by God who is love (His image and likeness; an overflow of His love), we are called to serve Him (glorify Him in our actions of love), and return to Him. His one desire is for us to be with Him forever. Talk to Him each day and ask him what he made you for. He knows best, he designed you.

A saint is someone who is perfectly who God designed them to be in their words and actions. Each day is an opportunity to love and glorify the Father. We are called to wake each day and remember our purpose, to give glory to God in all we do.

Jesus teaches us today that one of the best ways we can glorify God is to be like Jesus and serve others. I have selfish thoughts everyday. I am very competitive and want to win everything. It is hard for me to swallow my pride and forgive or ask for forgiveness. I like to be in control.

Do an experiment today. Do nothing that you want and just do what everybody else wants to do (serve) and do it with a joyful Spirit (First, we must stop what we are doing and spend time with others). Then, you will be one step closer to understanding what Christ did for us on the cross.

Today’s challenge: Find areas of your life where you are prideful and become more of a servant in those areas. Remind yourself of who Jesus is (gave His life as a ransom for many) and who we are (sinners). Make a goal to do one simple act of humility to remind yourself to be humble. My suggestion is to take someone else’s plate after they are finished eating and wash it for them.

Be a servant, be a saint today!
