“THERE IS SOMETHING GREATER THAN JONAH HERE.” LK 11:29-32
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus continues to explain to the crowds gathered around him that He must die and rise to save us. The wisdom of Solomon was powerful, the preaching of repentance by Jonah to the Ninevites helped save a huge city, but Jesus teaches us today that He is God and through His death and resurrection He will set us free from our sin, conquer death, and defeat Satan.
Today, Jesus personally asks each one of us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness. He alone has the answers. He alone is enough. Listen in prayer. Invite Him into your daily struggles, suffering, prayer, and joys. We are a distracted people and we look in all of the wrong places for happiness.
God alone is pure joy, much greater than happiness. He alone gives us what our hearts long for, Himself. Love, Truth, purpose, a direction each day we wake. May He see our belief in Him by the way we treat others, in our prayer, and by fasting.
Today’s challenge: Stop searching for happiness in all of the wrong places. Christ alone gives us what we are looking for. Learn to be still and listen to Christ in your heart. “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open to you.” MT 7:7
Be a servant, be a saint today!

“there is something greater than Jonah here.” We need to realize no matter what we find there is always something stronger and holier, God. when we are worshiping something that’s “more important” than God we need to put it down and spend some time with him, no matter how long it is.
God alone is enough for us. All these material things that we’re attached to, we don’t need. But it’s hard to leave these things that make us happy, because we know it’s there and we know it’ll bring us a little bit of happiness. It’s hard because we can’t see God. And it’s hard to trust in something you can’t see. But that’s faith.
this scripture is telling us how Jesus told us he must die and rise again. It talks about how hes pure joy and he wants to make us hvae joy. Jesus is always near and around, hes inside of you, inside our souls. Jesus is our hapiness and hes all we need. If you have a healthy and good Relationship with God you dont need anyone or nothing else. It breaks my heart when I see satanists on tiktok saying the Devil loves me and hell let me be whatever I want. Jesus is the true happiness and the devil is a distraction that makes other things distractions from God, our true happiness
I think its saying that when God sends us something or tells us to do something, we need to do it with no hesitation because everything He brings into our lives has a reason and a purpose so we just need to trust in Him and let Him lead us in the right direction.
Today’s scripture we learn that God is our source of happiness like no other he is God almighty creator of Heaven and Earth he created everything we love so why would we not love him. He gave us his only son to us to set an example for others to talk to his father. We need to learn how to be united with God so we can live eternal life in Heaven with God.
Jesus is always there waiting for you you must stop and listen for him he lord is in silence but he is always busy waiting for people are hoping they will find him.
Jesus shows us that great things have happened but nothing is greater than Him, because He is God. He will free us from sin and defeat Satan. Jesus is here to help us and WILL help us if we ask. It might not be the way we want but it is God’s will and whatever God’s will is, is correct. He knows what is best for us and will help us achieve it.
Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.” This stuck out to me because Jesus is saying that He is our sign. We need to follow the “sign” and follow Jesus. He wants to help us and guide us. He wants to be there for us. He wants us to ask Him for help and other things. He wants us to tell Him about our day. He wants to get to know us and us to get to know Him. We need to follow Jesus and He will lead us to eternal life in Heaven with our Father.
God is the anwser for all of our problems because he can do anything we cant so we need to offer up ours sins and struggles.
To then be closer with God in our daily life and prayer life. He just wants us to be free and to have happiness in our lifes.
I need to come closer to God because he is the true happiness and i want to join Him in heaven
Jesus is trying to tell us that he is God. Today in the gospel he says, “There is something greater than Jonah here.” This shows us that Jesus is not just some random guy but that he is God. He shows us how to love the Father and others. Jesus will always be there for us cause we need Him. If we trust and follow Him we can learn to love others and learn how to be holy.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that He is going to come back to save us and He is going to change us so we are not sinners and guide us in everything. He says
“because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here.” And He also says “because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.””
I think He is telling us that He will come back, He will preach repentance, and He will be greater than all other things.
The Lord sent Jonah through the city of Niniva to announce to them that in 40 days time thier city would be destoryed by their sin. The People of Niniva Belived him and they changed so that their city wouldn’t get destroyed. And It amazes me that they here a man say their city is going to be destroyed and they believed him immediately. Because if this happened today everone is going to walk by him thinking he’s crazy even if our city was to be destroyed.
I think this scripture is telling us that Jesus was sent down to Earth to save us yet we still take him for granite. He died for us but we just stay on our electronics, He listens to us but we ignore how much He cares about us. If he didn’t we would have never gotten saved from sin. He is so good and we fail to see it. Go outside and believe everything out there, was because of Jesus.
He had to die and rise from the dead to save us from our sins so people would open their hearts for him and follow him. We all are upset with the people that put Jesus to death on the cross but when we are those people our sins day after day will put Jesus in pain we need to cut all the bad out of our lives that we think that makes us happy and fill it with time with God. During lent we cut something out from our lives that we like to do that is a time filler but to fill that time we should visit God in prayer and enjoy that and make that a habit instead.
We are distracted by trying to find joy or happiness in other things that we don’t realize that God gives us joy because He is joy. He gives us everything good in life and we should invite Him into that through prayer, whether it’s happiness, sadness, joy, or suffering.
there is something greater than Solomon here
there is something greater than Jonah here
these two lines mean a lot to me they say to my face “There is something greater here.” know think about that something greater what is greater then them well isn’t it clear the “Something greater” is Jesus God the Father however you want to say it, it is him he is greater then everything and everyone and there is Something greater with us right know too its him he is always here there will always be something greater where ever you go no doubt there will be a something greater there there will be God there watching over you and everyone in the room he is always here.
” This generation is evil.” This line was hard for me to read. I think it is the bluntness and insensitiveness that caught my attention. It is very rare that Jesus outright calls us evil, or generalizes us. This is powerful, because it shows us that we do not want to be affiliated with the World, there is something much greater than it. When we start to give into the World’s suggestions, we become weak, and we find that we fall into sloth easily. We can’t let this happen, because the Bridegroom will come when we least expect it. I, oftentimes, have to remind myself that I may not actually live a full life! It is possible that I will die today, or maybe on my way to college. This is a powerful thought, because it grounds us. It shows us that we don’t have control over everything like we want to have. Many people shy away from this thought because it tells us that the illusion that we live in is wrong. The world has a powerful influence on our lives and thoughts, and it is good to break free from its clutches. There is something far greater, God. More importantly, Love, which is God, and God is Love. The World is telling us that we don’t belong anywhere. God is telling us that we belong with him. Who would you rather agree with?
2/21/24 Jonah was a great teacher in Nineveh, and Solomon was a great king, but Jesus is greater. We can’t even begin to compare Jesus with Jonah and Solomon. Jesus is God Himself! We don’t need human teachers, we need God and only God. He is telling us today that there is something greater than Jonah and Solomon, and He’s talking about himself! He is all that we need to be fulfilled on on Earth!
Today God is telling me that God does so much for us and we don’t even realize it. He is God and through His death and resurrection He will set us free from our sin, conquer death, and defeat Satan. He is more than just a human and more than anybody will be. He makes us feel like we are worth it even though we don’t deserve it at all. He died for us and that makes us feel special because how often would someone die for you? how often would someone go through all that suffering just for you to be where you are today. The least we can do is praise him and follow in his foot steps. He will forever and ever be in my heart and hopefully you too. If he isn’t yet he will make his way to you and help you when needed just wait for it or even when you die. He gave you free will so you can make your own choices even though they may not be good all the time.
This gospel states that we shouldn’t look for anything, but instead look for Him. He is the only one who can defeat sin, death, and Satan. Believing in God will strengthen Him even more to the point He can save us from everything. He alone, is God. He gave us everything, but we don’t realize it. All we need to do is search for God, don’t search for anything else besides Him. He will love us for it.
We are distracted by other things we when need to know Jesus is the most important thing.Jesus is always with us even if we do not think it.Jesus is the greatest thing and is always there for us when no one else is.We can sacrifice for him, pray with him,and sit in silence to talk to him.
Something that I got from this was if God tries to tell us something than we need to listen to it. There are many times when I feel something in me that is telling me to do something or not to do something, and I try to listen to it as much as I can, but if we don’t listen to God than we could get swallowed by a whale metaphorically speaking, you never know why God is telling you to do something but in the end you will know.
i think God is trying to tell us that we need to focus on God more. We tend to drift off and not pay attention to him.
Today Jesus is telling us to trust in His plan for us and that God alone is pure joy, much greater than happiness. We all want to be happy, no one wants to be sad for a long time. We all want to find something or some one who makes us happy. We search our whole lives trying to find what is our “thing”, what makes us really happy. Well today, Jesus is telling us that He is that He alone is what makes us happy, not just anything temporary here on earth.
I think this scripture is telling us that the only true happiness is unity with God the Father. We always look to wrong things to try to find that happiness, but the real happiness is with God and prayer. Everybody fails at finding God, but the important thing is, we need to keep trying. If we don’t, we will not reunite with God.
I think what today’s scripture meant was we are looking in all the wrong places. When we are looking for happiness we go to our electronics or comfort when God is right there for us and to care about our problems instead of just going to a comfort item. Try prayer.
We care too much for material items, we think that they give us happiness. God is behind all of our happiness. We need to believe that he is here for us and if we need help we can go to God and ask. In return we pray for after our death we can spend it with God and the other saints in heaven.
“This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it.” This stuck out to me because we are always searching for happiness but never finding it. We don’t find it because we are always looking in the wrong places. We need to pull out our bible and look in it we will find all the happiness in the world. Jesus died for us so we could live happily but most don’t because we are always stuck up on social media and all the wrong stuff that is part of this world now and not finding room for Jesus. If we find room for Jesus/God we will be the happiest people on earth and no one can stop us.
In this scripture, what stuck out to me was that Jesus was telling the crowd of people that he must die and rise from the dead. That part specifically stuck out to me because it shows how he was telling the people that he needed to conquer death and rise to new life. Today Jesus asks us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness.
I think this passage is telling us about how Jesus was saying that he must die and rise again. It talks about how Jesus is always near us, during Mass, while we pray, or whenever we need him. If you have a strong relationship with Jesus then you are likely going to make it to heaven. Jesus is the Joy in our lives. If we let him in we will be changed forever.
We need to love Jesus and proclaim his words. Without Him we wouldn’t be so why shouldn’t we love Jesus. He also died on the cross for us. We should want to love Jesus because He made us and He died for our sins. The Lord is greater than Solomon and Jonah even though they were great people, Jesus is way better.
Today the Scripture is telling me there will be an end of time when we will all be judged. We have an evil generation and it will continue to be evil. We can be the light and help others turn to God around us. We have to turn to God and not rely on material things to make us happy. If we ask for a friendship with Jesus He will give it to us. Therefore, we need to turn to God and realize we will meet Him at the end of time and will be judged.
“Today, Jesus personally asks each one of us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness. He alone has the answers.“ That stuck out to me because Jesus calls us to him for eternal life with peace, joy and happiness. The devil tries to tempt us with worldly happiness that will not last. That is why Jesus wants us to be with him so we shall not perish in hell but be with him in his Kingdom.
We think happiness is our video games or our cell phones or all of the other worldly things but really Jesus is happiness. Jesus is patiently waiting for us to stop trying to find happiness in other places but just go to him.
In the Gospel today, Jonah goes to Nineveh to tell the people there that in 40 days it will be destroyed. When the people there heard, they all put on sackcloth and fasted and prayed. We should fast and be reverent this lent and we should praise God. We should give up some of the good things and fast and give. We should give to others who can’t get things themselves or can’t afford it with their money. We should also Pray to God and ask for forgiveness and pray for others and pray to have a good lent that helps us spiritually. And after 40 days, lent will be over and Jesus will have risen from the dead and forgiven us.
“THERE IS SOMETHING GREATER THAN JONAH HERE.” Jonah basically converted a whole town so a ton of people thought Jonah was amazing. Jesus tells the crowd that he is greater than Jonah. He is greater than Jonah because he is the son of God and has the power to rise from the dead and forgive our sins. Jonah just converted a town or two, Jesus converted a lot lot lot more!
e are distracted by trying to find joy or happiness in other things that we don’t realize that God gives us joy because he is joy. He gives us everything good in life and we should invite Him into that through prayer whether it’s happiness, sadness, joy, or suffering.
“Invite Him into your daily struggles, suffering, prayer, and joys. We are distracted people and we look in all of the wrong places for happiness.” this stuck out to me because if you are struggling in life you need to turn to Jesus. often when we are upset or frustrated we get on electronics or make bad decisions or take our anger out on others. We need to find our self within Jesus. he matters more than anything on this earth and we humans need to recognize that.
God is what gives us happiness. We should not run from the Lord but seek him. We should seek him for that happiness. We should seek him to get to heaven. We should stop trying to find the happiness that we seek in other things instead we should look for it in God.
I feel that Jesus was trying to say that he is the messiah and that there are greater things than the prophets. i think this, because he says “Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.” also he said “and there is something greater than Solomon here.
“There is something greater than Jonah here.” This verse stuck out to me as I read today’s Gospel. I struggle with putting God before everything else. I want him, but I try to squeeze him in with everything else I do. And by the time I get to him I’m too tired or I just don’t feel like praying or giving my time up to him. But I have to realize (like Jesus said in the Gospel) that there is something greater than the things of this world. There is someone here who wants to know you and love you and he is worth much more of your time than anything else in this whole world.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us this generation is bad and it’s evil and I think that’s true. So many people could be so happy with Christ but the devil keeps pulling them back. I feel bad because jesus doesn’t deserve to be treated like that he died for us and for our sins and people don’t even care.
In today’s gospel, Jesus is telling us that if we choose to ignore him, we will not recognize that he is there. He is telling us that He is the only true source for joy, happiness, and peace. If we ignore that, then we will never be truly happy. Jesus is giving us signs, and we must realize that he is something great. We must seek out our lord, because when we do, we will see that he is there and we will forever be happy.
Jesus had come to save the Jews and everyone from sin. But according to the people, his ways were too different. He wasn’t what they expected the massiah to be! So they crucified him. But in that act, Jesus made good out of the bad, saving us from sin. So follow Jesus! His ways might not be what you expect, but Jesus always has a plan.
Jesus says “this generation is evil” And gives a reason why but What he said also applies to us to we are all evil in our own way we might not think we are evil but we sin and sin is evil so we must be all evil but God loves us so much that if we repent and believe and become less evil by going to confession we can have enteral life with him
“because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.” this part stuck out to me, because I feel like it’s the most bragging Jesus will ever do:) He’s still plenty humble, but says the truth. The people repented because of Jonah’s teaching, so imagine what will happen when someone better than Jonah comes and preaches. The world will surely be set on fire!
Jesus is trying to tell us he is God and through His death and resurrection He will set us free from our sin, conquer death, and defeat Satan. This proves that he would die for us even though it was super painful. We think that happiness is on our phones, or TV, or even video games. Jesus is the only true happiness in our lives.
I think that in todays scripture Jesus is trying to tell us that we need to be holy and we need to stop trying to be like Him, because we will never be as good as He is. He is God and will are just humans we have ZERO power over Him, or anyone else. We need to stop trying to be our own God and just be ourselves as His disciples. Just like in the Gospel, there is nothing better or even close to how Good He is. Nothing.
“He will set us free” this is more than a phrase it is reality God will come and he will set us free he will give life to the dead he will give love to the unwanted he is the only one who can and don’t see that we take him for granted we think we don’t need to pray we don’t need to love him he is the father,he is the light in the darkness he is the love in the hatred, he will die on the cross over and over,he doesn’t expect us to always pray,he doesn’t want us to just go with the motions he wants us to love him he wants to bring us with him to the best place ever heaven .
Many teachings back then were wise and true but it wasn’t the real truth. People these days try to hide the truth, but Jesus taught us the truth, the way, and life. He brought meaning to us to where there could be some understanding. In homilies The priest talks to us that scripture has a lot of key meaning in it to where its powerful and life changing. The fact we are apostles is a huge thing. Apostles are to go out and bring people to the church or to teach others like Jesus. The times we turn our back on Jesus is plenty, we need to see that Jesus is the way as in he leads us to the right path in life. The truth in the meaning of he tells us the truth so that we don’t have to be hiding in lies. He is the life because he has risen from the dead and has promised us eternal life, there has been so many miracles to prove this. If we can open our eyes to Christ, we are Home
Today´s scripture has told me that we are searching in the wrong places for happiness, joy, and peace. We are too distracted by technology and other things that we can´t find God. And if we pray to him bring him all our sufferings and discomforts we will find true happiness.
Invite Him into your daily struggles, suffering, prayer, and joys. God is our Father watching over us. He wants to be a part of our lives and live within us. He wants us to tell him about our good and bad days. He already knows what happened but He still wants you to tell Him what happened during your day. He wants us to understand that we mean everything to Him. I learned that God is key. He is the way i am going to get to heaven. I am going to ask for help to not get tempted or do wrong. Even though I will do wrong and mess up. I will turn back to God again and again.
Jonah preached that if Nineveh did not repent then they would be destroyed. The people of Nineveh heard this and repented. Jesus was basically saying that if we repent we will be destroyed. Jesus does not mean we will be physically struck down. He is telling the people that the only way to be spiritually saved is to repent. We must leave our evil ways and vices behind us. We need God spiritually. He is the answer and we must follow him.
I think it is saying that everything that Jesus tells us to do is for a reason. We need to do it without holding back because Jesus will put us on the right path that is why he tells us to do things so that we will get on the right path.
The saying “God alone is pure joy, much greater than happiness. He alone gives us what our hearts long for, Himself. Love, Truth, purpose, a direction each day we wake. May He see our belief in Him by the way we treat others, in our prayer, and by fasting.” the reason why this stuck out was that there is nothing that has greater love that God he gives love to all people.Even if we don’t love him back he still loves us even though some people don’t love him that’s just how strong his love is for us.
We need to be closer with God and have a daily prayer life with God. and God gusts whats us to be free and have happiness in heaven.
it is true that Jesus converted tons of people and so did Jonah we have to think how they are alike Jonah spent 40 days in the belly of a big fish fasting and praying and Jesus spent 40 days in the desert also fasting and praying, Jonah got tempted by the devil to not go to were god wanted him to go so did Jesus he got tempted in the desert that is also telling us we need to know god better so that we may not get tempted or so when the time comes we know how to fight back and know how to fast so that we may know him, love him, and serve him.
We are looking in the wrong way to find happiness. To find happiness we need to follow Jesus and God. God is always going to love us and will always forgive us. To be happy we need to follow Jesus like how the disciples followed him. Jesus will take us down the right path because He is the right path. We need to put Jesus and God above everything and we will be truly happy.
something that stuck out to me was ” This generation is evil.” I think its saying that this world is evil and its very rare for Jesus to say that this generation is evil. I feel like some people may be drifted away from God and pulled into temptation to do bad things. When we start to give into the World’s suggestions, we be. come weak, and we find that we fall into sloth easily. We can’t let this happen. This It shows us that we don’t have control over everything like we want to have.
Jesus loves us, he died for us. We should love him back and not ignore him for our phones or something else.
I think what he is saying is that we need to do everything Jesus tells us to do. We need to turn and pray to Jesus whenever we need to pray everyday. We need to get rid of any of distractions and base our life all on Jesus.
What God is trying to say in this passage is that when we are looking for a sign we should go to God to ask for help. God will always help you but not right away every time, so we have to be patient and love Him.
“Stop searching for happiness in all of the wrong places.” When i was reading this, this is the part that stuck out to me more than anything else. It stuck out to me because its telling us that we are searching for happiness in all the wrong places. Like we look for happiness with social media, food, TV, video games, our phones. We need to find happiness in Him.
We see today’s society as the highest point in human evolution. We are barely human anymore. We have destroyed our minds with the brain cell destroying technology of youtube and tiktok. We have completely abandoned God’s path for us. Although there are many good things in modern times, they are completely overruled by the bad. Homelessness, abuse, addiction. There are more problems with the world than I can count. God only wants to help us, yet we have run away from him.
“there is something greater than Jonah here.” This shows that no matter what material things or people we like to ” worship” or “idolize” There is someone greater then that, and its God. No one will EVER amount t the power God has and we need to realize that and put away our human things.
We are always looking for a sign, a sign that God is real. Just like Jesus was their sign he is also our sign. The thing about this though is that people are questioning when is he supposed to come back, its been 2000 years where is he? They need to have patience. We have had other smaller signs since then to, Juan Diego, or the Shroud of Turin for example. These are clear signs yet we are blind to them.
What stuck out to me was “This generation is an evil generation.” This stuck out to me because in our generation today we have so many evil and wrong things that distract us from God. When we get distracted we have to turn to Jesus and try to seek Him not just look and say but seek and have a conversation. So, take time to read scripture and talk to God.
in todays Gospel Jesus tells us that This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.
Jesus is not just talking about some time in the far past he talking about now. our world needs evangelization. the world needs a savior.
I feel like God is saying that this generation is so bad and we need to work on manners and be more like God. He wants us to be more nicer and caring and loving towards others because this generation i feel like is very bad at that.
This is telling us that God is more than just a man, He is all-powerful. There is so much that he can do that we can’t even contemplate doing. He is way more than JUST a human.
We have many different kinds of teachers but none of them are our one true teacher. That is Jesus. He teaches us all we need to know about him. Do not ignore him, rather pray and read the Bible.
Jesus wants us to know that he is our true source of happiness. Without him we wouldn’t be able to live a happy eternal life. He wants us to realize that he is our everything and we need to trust and put our love in him.
“This generation is an evil generation.” We can often find ourselves falling into temptation even if it is something as small as lying about something. It can be easy for us to make other things a priority over God. We need to pray and help others more. We should stop trying to be perfect because we will never achieve perfection, only Jesus can.
I want to be full of Jesus but I can’t, I have chains on my body stopping me from loving him, sports, games, phones, and friends, all of them stopping me from knowing what I want. I know that I’m not a normal teenager, i’m weird and strange. I am just me, Myself where I can be me. My body is no perfect and my voice is not soft, but I am who I am and I do want I do. I’m my own self and I will never be what people want me to be. I will be myself and hope that I can help myself do what I need to do.
Our generation is evil. That’s what Jesus tells us flat out today and it’s true. We have terrible things happening in our World today that should not be happening. He tells us that we are looking for a sign but we won’t receive a sign. That’s what all those other religions think. They think the bread is a symbol. They think that the true God has not come yet. but WE know He did. He died for us on the cross so we could live and still today we are waiting for a sign. Waiting for Jesus to make our life better. Waiting for Him to fix something in our life. Ir for Him to keep our life the same. We are constantly waiting for Him but He is already here. He’s been here for forever starting with Adam and Eve and He isn’t going to leave you now. He is here and present in everything we do and if we believe in that. Maybe. Just Maybe our world will not be so evil anymore.
In this scripture passage, I feel like God shows that He forgives as long as we repent. It can be hard for us to forgive and it can also be hard for us to say sorry. That’s why God’s love is one of a kind. He will forgive us as long as we are truly sorry and have reconciled for what we have done. If we weaken our relationship with Christ we can repair it through prayer, and this season of Lent is the perfect time to repair the damage done.
This is telling us that we need to repent and the solution for our sin is right in front of us: Confession.
Jesus is telling us to repent, he brings up Jonah and how he warned Nineveh. Jesus tells us to repent even when it is hard to, He tells us that it is what we need to get to heaven and achieve eternal Joy with him in heaven.
I think God is trying to tell us that He will provide for us and He will bring us happiness if we just follow him and leave the worldly distractions.
Everybody in the world, whether catholic or not, are sinners, but that doesnt give us an excuse to sin. We can repent and turn to God whenever we want, but choose not to and continue to sin
Most of us find the most joy in material things, they might be nice but God will fill material things forever. He is happiness, He is joy, He is everything good. See it and believe it.
today in the scripture Jesus talks about not searching in places like money and material things for happiness and joy and peace he is all that you need you need nothing other than him to find who your meant to be the way that he created you for and through prayer a scripture and mass we can figure that out it wont happen instantly and you wont know the second you start creating a relationship takes time like every other relationship.
God commanded jonah to go and save the city of nineva from evil. jonah didn’t want to and got swallowed by a whale for three days. when God asks us to do somthing do we do it, or do we disobey like jonah did? God gave us free will, so when He asks us to go and do something, lets choose to obey.
We are told to repent in todays gospel. How we need to ask Jesus for forgiveness and that if we do then we will be saved. We will be able to live freely and rest easy when Jesus forgives us. If we can accept that we are sinners then we can accept the fact that we have been saved. If we can realize that we need a savior (Jesus) then we can enjoy our eternal reward in Heaven.
In the scripture I think it’s saying that we can’t be exactly the same as God, we can’t be as Holy as him. Even if we try out hardest God will still be above everyone. And he’s ok with us like that because that is how he made us to be. And that when we ask God for help and we are looking for a sign that it has happened, we know that he will help us just not immediately, so we have to be patient and wait for him.
.Jesus personally asks each one of us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness, because he is what we need.
“Jesus continues to explain to the crowds gathered around him that He must die and rise to save us.” Will we die for our faith? People who truly believe in their faith will say yes since they believe in it but other people will say they will since it is the right thing to do. It is much harder to be humiliated, stepped on, and tortured to the point of death for your faith. We need to know what it means and the value when we will say I will die for my faith. It takes a lot of guts to since we should know we will be tortured in the worst ways and they will try to change our minds about our faith but we need to have a good backbone and say I believe in the true God and have them torture us even more. Are you willing to die for what you believe in or not?
God wants us to seek him. he wants us to look for all that is good, true, and beautiful. he asks us to seek the truth and to want it with our whole hearts. he calls us to greatness, but it is up to us how we respond.
Today Jesus tells us not to search for things of this world that will bring us “happiness” cause they wont. Only the things of Heaven. We have to give up everything, meaning the things of this world that we hold onto. Its like 2 ladders, If you have one foot on each ring of the two ladders and keep climbing up, at some point your not going to be able to climb with one foor on each an longer and will have to make a choice. To fully give up the world and step into Gods, or step out of Gods life for you and stay with the world.
what stuck out to me was “through His death and resurrection He will set us free from our sin, conquer death, and defeat Satan.” This stuck out to me because i know that we go over it like a million times but if you stop and think about how much this means he loves you it really becomes something huge. I’ve always been kinda like yeah he died for me what ever but when i started to really think about it its like he DIED for ME.
“This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” Jesus tells the people that they are looking for a sign but will not receive one because they will only believe if they see something if God proves He exists. Sometimes we think like that, ‘Give me a sign and I’ll believe’ or ‘God do this for me and I’ll believe’ we are human we sin and we want things that are wordly it’s part of the fall of humanity. But that doesn’t prohibit us from truly believing because we love and know that Jesus Christ died on the cross even though He knew some of us wouldn’t ever love Him back. We should strive to love and believe in Jesus not just because someone told us too but because you love our Savior.
In this scripture reflection I was reminded that God is all that I need. He is the only one that can make me happy or save me from my brokenness and sin. And that He is wanting to be with us every minute of our lives.
we have so much going on in our life we tend to drift from jesus, we may even feel undeserving of his love he offers to us so we ignore it but God still wants you he will always be looking for you no matter the sin he wants you and all of your imperfections all we have to do is accept him into our life and offer up all of our sin and faliuer. Jesus loves you.
“He is God”
No one can ever be like God, he is the one and only. But he is more than just a God he is a role model and a Savior
Today’s scripture told me that we need to set down all of our electronics and other things distracting us for God and we need to pray, because we always need to be prepared for the second coming of Christ.
“Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open to you.” stuck out to me because if we pray and talk to God then he will give us what we want and we will also find a way to heaven
Today the Scripture is telling me there will be an end of time when we will all be judged. We have an evil generation and it will continue to be evil.We need to believe that he is here for us and if we need help we can go to God and ask. In return we pray for after our death we can spend it with God and the other saints in heaven.
Jesus died and resurrected to save us. We can’t let that go to waste by spending all our time on things we don’t need and other things that lead us away from God. He saved us and now we have to follow him and give back all that we can even though it will never be enough to repay him back.
“Jesus personally asks each one of us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness.” This stuck out to me because Jesus wants us to look to him for peace, joy, and happiness because God IS that.
“Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed,”
when the people of Nineveh believed God;
they proclaimed a fast
and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth.
Just like the people of Nineveh we should sacrifice our belongings to God. Because once we do we will feel his love and compassion and allow him to come into our lives.
“Today, Jesus personally asks each one of us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness. He alone has the answers. He alone is enough.” Nothing could be more true than this, this is very spiritual and righteous. He gave up so much for us and if he created us, he has the answers, so go to him.
People are distracted by trying to find satisfaction in worldly things but all of it is false and only makes us happy for little bit then we are right back to feeling sad and depressed and the only way to fond true satisfaction is through Jesus.
Good things come when God is near, but sometimes our lives are so busy we get distracted! this means sometimes we forget how God has blessed us. He wants us to know how much he loves and cares for us.
I think in today’s scripture reflection, God is telling us to never drift away or forget about our Lord. He will always be there for us at any given time. We need to take some time off of what we are doing outside our lives sometimes and focus more on Jesus. He is the one who saved us and gave us a new life.
What this passage means to me is that God is the most forgiving person and that he will always love and forgive us.
Good Afternoon everyone. I beileve the Lord is trying to say that he will always send a sign to warn or to teach us that he is here and comming for he is the Lord god almighty creater of heaven and earth our Lord.
“This generation is an evil generation” We live in a world of evil and danger. We are given many physically and spiritually damaging things that may cause detrimental damage to us. If we are not careful we may end up broken, and not in Heaven.
Today’s scripture reflection was telling me that there are way more important things in life like Jesus. We will all be judged one day and that Jesus is all powerful and Jesus is always with us.
I think God is saying to find him and to open up and not be blinded by worldly things but to look for happiness in Him. God will never let those who do his will down. He is everything we have ever been looking for, so we must let go of the worldly things that we think will bring us joy and start finding it in Him.
i think God is trying to tell us that we need to focus on God more.we drift off and pay attention to other things insted of him we need to spend more time at church.Amen
“He alone has the answers. He alone is enough. He is God .” God is all we need in life. He is perfect and ill set up the perfect life for us if we are willing to take his help.
I think God is trying to tell us that he will forgive us from our sins. He will conquer Satan and the devil so we can keep on the right path. The devil is everywhere you go, but God is also with you to conquer Satan.
God is telling us that he loves us more than anything in the world. Even though we sin, God STILL loves us and always forgives. We drift away from God because we have a lot of stuff in front of us that distracts us from Him. We can say sorry to God by praying or going to confession. “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open to you.” This part struck me because God loves us very much and gives us when we ask for him. God is literally in front of us and we can’t see him because we are distracted.
There is something greater than Jonah here.I think that God is trying to tell me that even though Jonah was great there is something better.Someone better.Someone like Jesus. We need to know that and realize that there is nothing better than Jesus and that He loved us a lot because He died for us.
In today’s scripture reflection, God has told me that he is true happiness. Electronics doesn’t give us happiness like God does. God is gives us joy and peace.
This is telling us that God is more than just a man he is all-powerful. There is so much that he can do that we can’t even contemplate doing. He is way more than just a human he is our God
Today Jesus shows us that He is God. Jesus tries to show us that He has all that we need if we follow him. Jesus should be the center of our life and we should love and follow Him in what He does. He is the way. When we pick up our cross and follow Him we can truly get to know God and others.
Being attached to money can is a sin we have to avoid. The attachment of money can lead to many other sins, but the main sin it’s rooted to is greed. We have to know when enough is enough. It’s the perfect time of the year to try to let go of any attachments or take a break from the things that lead us away from God.
We search for happiness in all of the wrong places, we need to change that, start praying more, start reading the bible more, just start putting Jesus into your life more and you’ll see that you are much more happy than without Him.
what do we need in life? i know we need food and water, but what do we need above that? God. we need God. we need God to be with us in times of struggle and times of joy. we need God in our lives, so lets not push him away.
“For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.” We don’t get much physical evidence down here on earth. We have to have faith that we are Christians and that everything we do is for a reason. We have the only true God and we know this because of our faith and the Word of God.
God is constantly trying to tell us we need to stop focusing on worldly things and focus on God alone
I think God is trying to tell us that he loves us so much that he even came back from the dead for us and we need to focus on God. And remember he is our Lord and Saviour
What I got from today’s Gospel is that we need to reach out to God he will not reach out to us unless we ask of him to do that.
He is always loving us constantly, but he does want us to build a relationship with him.
When Jesus says That this Generation is an evil Generation, it makes me think of today. We are waiting for some sign that GOD exists, even though He does exist. We need to trust that He exists.
