“THERE IS SOMETHING GREATER THAN JONAH HERE.” LK 11:29-32

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus continues to explain to the crowds gathered around him that He must die and rise to save us. The wisdom of Solomon was powerful, the preaching of repentance by Jonah to the Ninevites helped save a huge city, but Jesus teaches us today that He is God and through His death and resurrection He will set us free from our sin, conquer death, and defeat Satan.

Today, Jesus personally asks each one of us to stop searching in other places for peace, joy, and happiness. He alone has the answers. He alone is enough. Listen in prayer. Invite Him into your daily struggles, suffering, prayer, and joys. We are a distracted people and we look in all of the wrong places for happiness.

God alone is pure joy, much greater than happiness. He alone gives us what our hearts long for, Himself. Love, Truth, purpose, a direction each day we wake. May He see our belief in Him by the way we treat others, in our prayer, and by fasting.

Today’s challenge: Stop searching for happiness in all of the wrong places. Christ alone gives us what we are looking for. Learn to be still and listen to Christ in your heart. “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open to you.” MT 7:7

Be a servant, be a saint today!

“there is something greater than Jonah here.” We need to realize no matter what we find there is always something stronger and holier, God. when we are worshiping something that’s “more important” than God we need to put it down and spend some time with him, no matter how long it is.

God alone is enough for us. All these material things that we’re attached to, we don’t need. But it’s hard to leave these things that make us happy, because we know it’s there and we know it’ll bring us a little bit of happiness. It’s hard because we can’t see God. And it’s hard to trust in something you can’t see. But that’s faith.

this scripture is telling us how Jesus told us he must die and rise again. It talks about how hes pure joy and he wants to make us hvae joy. Jesus is always near and around, hes inside of you, inside our souls. Jesus is our hapiness and hes all we need. If you have a healthy and good Relationship with God you dont need anyone or nothing else. It breaks my heart when I see satanists on tiktok saying the Devil loves me and hell let me be whatever I want. Jesus is the true happiness and the devil is a distraction that makes other things distractions from God, our true happiness

I think its saying that when God sends us something or tells us to do something, we need to do it with no hesitation because everything He brings into our lives has a reason and a purpose so we just need to trust in Him and let Him lead us in the right direction.

Today’s scripture we learn that God is our source of happiness like no other he is God almighty creator of Heaven and Earth he created everything we love so why would we not love him. He gave us his only son to us to set an example for others to talk to his father. We need to learn how to be united with God so we can live eternal life in Heaven with God.

Jesus shows us that great things have happened but nothing is greater than Him, because He is God. He will free us from sin and defeat Satan. Jesus is here to help us and WILL help us if we ask. It might not be the way we want but it is God’s will and whatever God’s will is, is correct. He knows what is best for us and will help us achieve it.

Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.” This stuck out to me because Jesus is saying that He is our sign. We need to follow the “sign” and follow Jesus. He wants to help us and guide us. He wants to be there for us. He wants us to ask Him for help and other things. He wants us to tell Him about our day. He wants to get to know us and us to get to know Him. We need to follow Jesus and He will lead us to eternal life in Heaven with our Father.

I think Jesus is trying to tell us that He is going to come back to save us and He is going to change us so we are not sinners and guide us in everything. He says
“because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here.” And He also says “because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here.””
I think He is telling us that He will come back, He will preach repentance, and He will be greater than all other things.

The Lord sent Jonah through the city of Niniva to announce to them that in 40 days time thier city would be destoryed by their sin. The People of Niniva Belived him and they changed so that their city wouldn’t get destroyed. And It amazes me that they here a man say their city is going to be destroyed and they believed him immediately. Because if this happened today everone is going to walk by him thinking he’s crazy even if our city was to be destroyed.

He died for us but we just stay on our electronics, He listens to us but we ignore how much He cares about us. If he didn’t we would have never gotten saved from sin. He had to die and rise from the dead to save us from our sins so people would open their hearts for him and follow him. We all are upset with the people that put Jesus to death on the cross but when we are those people our sins day after day will put Jesus in pain we need to cut all the bad out of our lives that we think that makes us happy and fill it with time with God. During lent we cut something out from our lives that we like to do that is a time filler but to fill that time we should visit God in prayer and enjoy that and make that a habit instead.

” This generation is evil.” This line was hard for me to read. I think it is the bluntness and insensitiveness that caught my attention. It is very rare that Jesus outright calls us evil, or generalizes us. This is powerful, because it shows us that we do not want to be affiliated with the World, there is something much greater than it. When we start to give into the World’s suggestions, we become weak, and we find that we fall into sloth easily. We can’t let this happen, because the Bridegroom will come when we least expect it. I, oftentimes, have to remind myself that I may not actually live a full life! It is possible that I will die today, or maybe on my way to college. This is a powerful thought, because it grounds us. It shows us that we don’t have control over everything like we want to have. Many people shy away from this thought because it tells us that the illusion that we live in is wrong. The world has a powerful influence on our lives and thoughts, and it is good to break free from its clutches. There is something far greater, God. More importantly, Love, which is God, and God is Love. The World is telling us that we don’t belong anywhere. God is telling us that we belong with him. Who would you rather agree with?

We don’t need human teachers, we need God and only God. He is telling us today that there is something greater than Jonah and Solomon, and He’s talking about himself! He makes us feel like we are worth it even though we don’t deserve it at all. He died for us and that makes us feel special because how often would someone die for you? how often would someone go through all that suffering just for you to be where you are today. The least we can do is praise him and follow in his foot steps. He will forever and ever be in my heart and hopefully you too. If he isn’t yet he will make his way to you and help you when needed just wait for it or even when you die. He gave you free will so you can make your own choices even though they may not be good all the time.

This gospel states that we shouldn’t look for anything, but instead look for Him. He is the only one who can defeat sin, death, and Satan. Believing in God will strengthen Him even more to the point He can save us from everything. He alone, is God. He gave us everything, but we don’t realize it. All we need to do is search for God, don’t search for anything else besides Him. He will love us for it.

Something that I got from this was if God tries to tell us something than we need to listen to it. There are many times when I feel something in me that is telling me to do something or not to do something, and I try to listen to it as much as I can, but if we don’t listen to God than we could get swallowed by a whale metaphorically speaking, you never know why God is telling you to do something but in the end you will know.

We don’t find it because we are always looking in the wrong places. We need to pull out our bible and look in it we will find all the happiness in the world. Jesus died for us so we could live happily but most don’t because we are always stuck up on social media and all the wrong stuff that is part of this world now and not finding room for Jesus. If we find room for Jesus/God we will be the happiest people on earth and no one can stop us.

We can be the light and help others turn to God around us. We have to turn to God and not rely on material things to make us happy. If we ask for a friendship with Jesus He will give it to us. We should fast and be reverent this lent and we should praise God. We should give up some of the good things and fast and give. Many teachings back then were wise and true but it wasn’t the real truth. People these days try to hide the truth, but Jesus taught us the truth, the way, and life. He brought meaning to us to where there could be some understanding. In homilies The priest talks to us that scripture has a lot of key meaning in it to where its powerful and life changing. The fact we are apostles is a huge thing. Apostles are to go out and bring people to the church or to teach others like Jesus. The times we turn our back on Jesus is plenty, we need to see that Jesus is the way as in he leads us to the right path in life. The truth in the meaning of he tells us the truth so that we don’t have to be hiding in lies. He is the life because he has risen from the dead and has promised us eternal life, there has been so many miracles to prove this. If we can open our eyes to Christ, we are Home

He wants us to tell him about our good and bad days. He already knows what happened but He still wants you to tell Him what happened during your day. He wants us to understand that we mean everything to Him. I learned that God is key. He is the way i am going to get to heaven. I am going to ask for help to not get tempted or do wrong. Jesus does not mean we will be physically struck down. He is telling the people that the only way to be spiritually saved is to repent. We must leave our evil ways and vices behind us. We need God spiritually. He is the answer and we must follow him.

The saying “God alone is pure joy, much greater than happiness. He alone gives us what our hearts long for, Himself. Love, Truth, purpose, a direction each day we wake. May He see our belief in Him by the way we treat others, in our prayer, and by fasting.” the reason why this stuck out was that there is nothing that has greater love that God he gives love to all people.Even if we don’t love him back he still loves us even though some people don’t love him that’s just how strong his love is for us.

To be happy we need to follow Jesus like how the disciples followed him. Jesus will take us down the right path because He is the right path. I feel like some people may be drifted away from God and pulled into temptation to do bad things. When we start to give into the World’s suggestions, we be. come weak, and we find that we fall into sloth easily. We can’t let this happen. We have completely abandoned God’s path for us. Although there are many good things in modern times, they are completely overruled by the bad. Homelessness, abuse, addiction. There are more problems with the world than I can count. God only wants to help us, yet we have run away from him.

We are always looking for a sign, a sign that God is real. Just like Jesus was their sign he is also our sign. The thing about this though is that people are questioning when is he supposed to come back, its been 2000 years where is he? They need to have patience. We have had other smaller signs since then to, Juan Diego, or the Shroud of Turin for example. These are clear signs yet we are blind to them.

Our generation is evil. That’s what Jesus tells us flat out today and it’s true. We have terrible things happening in our World today that should not be happening. He tells us that we are looking for a sign but we won’t receive a sign. That’s what all those other religions think. They think the bread is a symbol. They think that the true God has not come yet. but WE know He did. He died for us on the cross so we could live and still today we are waiting for a sign. Waiting for Jesus to make our life better. Waiting for Him to fix something in our life. Ir for Him to keep our life the same. We are constantly waiting for Him but He is already here. He’s been here for forever starting with Adam and Eve and He isn’t going to leave you now. He is here and present in everything we do and if we believe in that. Maybe. Just Maybe our world will not be so evil anymore.

In this scripture passage, I feel like God shows that He forgives as long as we repent. It can be hard for us to forgive and it can also be hard for us to say sorry. That’s why God’s love is one of a kind. He will forgive us as long as we are truly sorry and have reconciled for what we have done. If we weaken our relationship with Christ we can repair it through prayer, and this season of Lent is the perfect time to repair the damage done.

“Jesus continues to explain to the crowds gathered around him that He must die and rise to save us.” Will we die for our faith? People who truly believe in their faith will say yes since they believe in it but other people will say they will since it is the right thing to do. It is much harder to be humiliated, stepped on, and tortured to the point of death for your faith. We need to know what it means and the value when we will say I will die for my faith. It takes a lot of guts to since we should know we will be tortured in the worst ways and they will try to change our minds about our faith but we need to have a good backbone and say I believe in the true God and have them torture us even more. Are you willing to die for what you believe in or not?

We have to give up everything, meaning the things of this world that we hold onto. Its like 2 ladders, If you have one foot on each ring of the two ladders and keep climbing up, at some point your not going to be able to climb with one foor on each an longer and will have to make a choice. To fully give up the world and step into Gods, or step out of Gods life for you and stay with the world.

Sometimes we think like that, ‘Give me a sign and I’ll believe’ or ‘God do this for me and I’ll believe’ we are human we sin and we want things that are wordly it’s part of the fall of humanity. But that doesn’t prohibit us from truly believing because we love and know that Jesus Christ died on the cross even though He knew some of us wouldn’t ever love Him back. We drift away from God because we have a lot of stuff in front of us that distracts us from Him. We can say sorry to God by praying or going to confession. “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open to you.” This part struck me because God loves us very much and gives us when we ask for him. I think God is trying to tell us that he loves us so much that he even came back from the dead for us and we need to focus on God. And remember he is our Lord and Saviour

What I got from today’s Gospel is that we need to reach out to God he will not reach out to us unless we ask of him to do that.

He is always loving us constantly, but he does want us to build a relationship with him.

When Jesus says That this Generation is an evil Generation, it makes me think of today. We are waiting for some sign that GOD exists, even though He does exist. We need to trust that He exists.
