“MY HEART IS MOVED WITH PITY FOR THE CROWD.” MT 15:29-37
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
At that time:
Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee,
went up on the mountain, and sat down there.
Great crowds came to him,
having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute,
and many others.
They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.
The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking,
the deformed made whole,
the lame walking,
and the blind able to see,
and they glorified the God of Israel.
Jesus summoned his disciples and said,
“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
for they have been with me now for three days
and have nothing to eat.
I do not want to send them away hungry,
for fear they may collapse on the way.”
The disciples said to him,
“Where could we ever get enough bread in this deserted place
to satisfy such a crowd?”
Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”
“Seven,” they replied, “and a few fish.”
He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground.
Then he took the seven loaves and the fish,
gave thanks, broke the loaves,
and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.
They all ate and were satisfied.
They picked up the fragments left over–seven baskets full. Mt 15:29-37
Have you ever felt like there was never enough, like you were living in a deserted place in your home, school, or work? Have you ever felt alone, lame, blind, or mute? Have you ever been frustrated because you keep committing the same sins? Jesus came down to save us, comfort us, and be with us always so we are never alone. “Lo, behold I am with you always.” MT 28:20 He says, “My heart is moved with pity” for all of us.
When your life is being torn into many pieces and stretched in so many directions (especially this time of year) take comfort in Jesus. Stop and give those crosses to Him, he understands. He has been through it. If we give Jesus a little bit of our time each day, He will turn it into a great multitude of grace and blessings.
God cannot be outdone in generosity. He takes little and makes it into a multitude. This reminds me of the quote on the seminarian poster 4 years ago, “God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” Let God work in your life, find your call, and love with joy in this life and the next. He made you for a purpose and wants your salvation more than you do. May we eat and be satisfied!
