Prayer Prompt before reading JN 5:17-30: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

“I CANNOT DO ANYTHING ON MY OWN; I JUDGE AS I HEAR, AND MY JUDGMENT IS JUST, BECAUSE I DO NOT SEEK MY OWN WILL BUT THE WILL OF THE ONE WHO SENT ME.” JN 5:17-30

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

It is brave indeed for One to say He is One with the Father. Who has walked the earth and said, “I am one with the heavenly Father”? Yep, only Jesus. Many have worshiped the One true God, but no one dare claim to be equal. Once again, Jesus is either a radical liar, a lunatic, or equal to the Father (CS Lewis). I smell Truth of a Trinity here.

Jesus talks about judgment today. I like to change my mind sometimes. Some people change their mind a lot. I like to make decisions and some people have a hard time making decisions. With Jesus, there is something we must make up our mind on and stick to it and something we cannot change our mind on, the fact that we will die, be judged, and go to heaven or hell for all of eternity(that is a long time by the way).

In the Rich Man and Lazarus parable, Jesus warns us that the after life is eternal states that cannot be changed. There is a chasm that cannot be crossed. Peter Kreeft says, “It is possible for hell to be in heaven. God still loves those in hell, they are just spiritual garbage now.” I think it would be hell seeing all of those in heaven and what is happening in heaven and not being able to go there. On top of that we would get exactly what we wanted, ourselves, selfishness, for all eternity. Alone on a stone with nothing but darkness around us and being able to see into heaven. I think we experience this in small ways here on earth throughout our lives.

We have an opportunity to cherish every second we have on earth to fall in love with Jesus and make the right decisions (stay in God’s life in the commandments), do the right things (love, be unselfish), and right worship (Holy Sacrifice of the Mass). We will die. We will be judged. ”For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he gave to the Son the possession of life in himself. And he gave him power to exercise judgment, because he is the Son of Man.”

In your heart, have you really made the decision to allow Jesus to completely rule your life? Me either. It is time to make that decision, we do not get second chances after we die and death is immanent. Most importantly, there is nothing more that God wants but to have His cherished creation come back to Him. He loves you more than you love yourself. He wants you to be a saint more than you want it yourself, to be with Him for all eternity. He wants you to know His Will. SO LET HIM LOVE YOU!

Today’s challenge: Reflect on the 4 final things, death, judgment, heaven, hell. It’s your choice, God has already done the legwork by giving us His Son and the Holy Spirit, now it’s time to believe. Give yourself to Jesus totally and completely and allow Him to love you, His greatest desire.

Be a servant, become a saint!
