Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected
by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”

Then he said to all,
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
yet lose or forfeit himself?”

Do you want to be a disciple of Christ?  Jesus lays out the conditions today: 1. deny ourselves-die to self we have inherited a fallen human nature, submit your will to God and ask Him to help you do His will, give up what you want for the good of the other, I care about your needs more than my desire, God, others, me.  2. take up your cross daily-Jesus never said anything about taking away suffering when we became Baptized and a follower, as Christians just like everyone in this life in this world will suffer during life, we have a reason to suffer-we can offer our suffering up with Christ’s suffering and be purified to prepare a way for heaven.  All those who suffer, since Jesus suffered, have a reason to suffer which brings some comfort. Any hardships in our lives (which Jesus knew there would be that is why he revealed this to us), we are to offer up with Christ’s suffering.  Some witnesses of Christ even died, our martyrs.  After we have this mindset, we are ready to be a daily follower of Christ.  Lent is a time to do a spiritual workout, so we can hone our skills in denying self and offering up daily crosses.  Are you a fighter?  Be a soldier for Christ.  Lose your life and put on Christ for the world to see.  When others see you do they see Christ?

Last, hands down one of the best verses in the Bible to wake you up on the purpose of being blessed to live on God’s green earth!  ”What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?”  Cell phones, thousands of friends, popularity, money, power, good looks, sex, violence, perfect bodies, Netflix, Internet, music which treats bodies as objects, if I could just live there or go on that vacation, have what they have, be born into that family.  All of these ideas, wants, desires will pass away.  You could have everything in the world, you could own the world, but if you lose your soul, you have nothing.  Amen.

Today’s challenge: Get buff for Christ, get in the Spiritual weight room, deny self and offer up all daily sufferings to Christ. Get to confession and start over with Christ, protect your soul.

Total consecration: Day 33
