Jesus leaves us with the Holy Spirit. He even says it is better if He goes and leaves us the Holy Spirit. How can we have something better than Jesus?
Jesus said to his disciples:
“When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father,
he will testify to me.
And you also testify,
because you have been with me from the beginning.
“I have told you this so that you may not fall away.” Jn 15:26-16:4
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Now I am going to the one who sent me,
and not one of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’
But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts.
But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.
For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you.
But if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes he will convict the world
in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation:
sin, because they do not believe in me;
righteousness, because I am going to the Father
and you will no longer see me;
condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.” Jn 16:5-11
This is revolutionary! If a person is about to leave for a long time and wanted to leave behind the most important things that he/she can, it would include the most important material things and the wisest words. In Jesus’ case, that would be the most important spiritual things and the Truth in Word and Spirit. God is the most intelligent. He does not make mistakes and today’s words from Jesus are profound. ”But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.”
Why? Jesus is outside of us, Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit inside of us. We often look for God in so many places when He is right inside of us. This should change the way we pray, the way we act, the way we understand how we are saved.
The Holy Spirit guides us when we read the Scriptures and pray. The best but most often hardest way to pray is in silence; God is found in a still small voice (“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10) Christ’s Spirit speaks to us in the silence. I have found it wise to ask the Holy Spirit to guide me each day increasing the gifts and fruits of the Spirit inside me that I received at Baptism and Confirmation. The greatest gift God gives us is Himself in the Holy Spirit, the love between the Father and Son that is so great we have the Holy Spirit. If we open ourselves up to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and we can be transformed by God!
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming.” Jn 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.” Jn 15:9-17
Jesus leaves us the Holy Spirit for a reason. It is God’s salvation plan for us to have the spiritual powers of mind, will, and memory to fight sin and love. He gives us the Truth. He commands us to love. He gives us the Holy Spirit to accomplish this. Amen.
Be a servant, become a saint!

In this Scripture passage I think it’s trying to say that we need to let the Holy Spirit guide us. We also need to listen to Jesus’ voice, even though it is very small.
Jesus told the disciples that he would send the Holy Spirit when he left. We need to ask the Holy spirit for guidance and to trust that him.
When Jesus leaves His disciples, He leaves them with some of the wisest words ever spoken. On top of giving them incredible wisdom, He sends the Holy Spirit after Him. The Holy Spirit is still somewhere on the earth, somewhere inside of all of us. Our conscience is almost like our own personal Holy Spirit, except the Holy Spirit is perfect and we are not.
Jesus is telling his disciples that he is going somewhere to fulfill his destiny. He says that they should know what he is doing because he has been with them.
It is hard for me to comprehend this, but I still tried and the amount that I could comprehend tells me that I should not worry about what will happen and think about what I am prepared for now. Am I prepared to go to Heaven if I died right now?
What I think God is trying to tell me in the scriptures today is that if he didn’t come down from Heaven to Earth to save our sins, the gates of Heaven would still be closed and souls would keep going into that waiting place. We needed God, and even though it may seem he’s not always there, he’s there in the silence.
God wants us to ask the holy spirit for guidance. If we put trust in the holy spirit he can lead us to great things.
Jesus left us the Holy Spirit, so that we would be able to have a guide when Jesus was in Heaven. We strengthened the Holy Spirit in us at Confirmation, now all we have to do is listen to the Holy Spirit.
God always has a plan for us. Even though it may seem unreasonable at times, he knows what’s best for us. He knows whats right from wrong. The Holy Spirit guides us everyday even if Jesus isn’t physically at your side. God knows everything.
Jesus is telling us in the scripture that if we leave to go somewhere to a higher place we would want to leave our physical items. Jesus is telling us to not be attached to worldly objects and focus more on spiritual enlightenment. We need to become closer to God and live in peace with each other
The Holy Spirit is here to guide us so that we can connect to the faith and grow closer to God. We need to recognize when we are growing apart from God and do whatever we can to love Him. We need to always trust in God because He will always be there for us.
We have to follow the commandments in order to go to heaven
Jesus tells us that we need to not say everything on are mind don’t just say everything think about what you say before you act
I think this passage says that God gave up his only son for our sins. He could have saved himself but he died for us and resurrected. He rose and was made the King of Kings.
Today I learned that Jesus is right in front of us. We sometimes think He’s not but He always is!
Jesus loves us so much
Jesus is telling us that he will love us for however we are, no matter what race, young or old, tall or short; he’ll still love us and always will.
It seems strange to me that His disciples weren’t strengthened by the Holy Spirit before He left them. If they were had the Holy Spirit before Jesus left them, they could have made an even greater impact on the world. However, I think that if the Pentecost was before Jesus was crucified, they never would have killed Him. One thing that I have learned from all of the scriptures is that God always has a plan and everything that He does (or doesn’t do) is for a reason.
Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit would not be here if he did not die for us. If he were to stay and live we would have no spiritual guide in our faith. That is why we need the Holy Spirit to guide us because Jesus left us just so we could receive this guide.
This is when he talks about sending the Holy Spirit. Jesus says that he must leave because it is his duty.
Jesus tells his disciples that the Holy Spirit will come down to them and that He will help them.
I can apply this to my life by leaving sfa good. I can always follow the holy spirit.
Jesus leaves his knowledge for us. He gives it to us so that we are able to teach it to our children and keep the faith going.
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit for us. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to guide in everything that we do. The Advocate was sent from God and will help us get to Heaven and we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us. We need to ask for Him to guide in everything we do so we can become closer to God each and every day.
This is saying that we need to have faith in what Jesus says and tells us to do.
