Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Brothers and sisters:
When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son,
born of a woman, born under the law,
to ransom those under the law,
so that we might receive adoption as sons.
As proof that you are sons,
God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
crying out, “Abba, Father!”
So you are no longer a slave but a son,
and if a son then also an heir, through God. Gal 4:4-7

Mary was chosen in God’s plan to bring Jesus to us. At the foot of the cross Jesus says, “26 When Jesus saw his mother[a] and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Jn 19:26 Jesus gives us Mary as our mother, not just His. She is the Second Eve. Eve brought death and Mary brought life. She is closest to Christ’s heart and will intercede for us any time we ask. She allows us the ability to be adopted sons and daughters of God. We are given divinity through Christ’s divinity. Our heart’s greatest desire is to reach our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ and the womb of Mary (Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, let be done to me according to thy Word-Mary’s fiat) we have the opportunity to be saved. May we forever honor Mary, praise God, and love Christ, our Savior.

The shepherds went in haste to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph,
and the infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this,
they made known the message
that had been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by the shepherds.
And Mary kept all these things,
reflecting on them in her heart.
Then the shepherds returned,
glorifying and praising God
for all they had heard and seen,
just as it had been told to them.

When eight days were completed for his circumcision,
he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel
before he was conceived in the womb. LK 2:16-21

The Council of Ephesus determined by the inspiration of the Scriptures that Jesus was human and divine. It was logical than to give Mary the title of Mary, Mother of God (Theotokos). Mary’s heart is stirred, pierced, and most blessed among woman (full of grace). She is not only the Mother of God, Mother of the Church, but our mother. She is the most sure path to Christ’s heart. We honor her and on the first day of the new year we are reminded to put her into our resolutions. May we have a stronger devotion to her than we did before, so we too may be closer to Christ’s heart. Then, we can be more Christ- like, disciplined, pure, endure our pain and suffering with love, compassion, determination, sin-less, and put other’s first.

Today’s challenge: Consecrate ourselves to Jesus through Mary starting Jan. 9th, the feast of the Apparition of our Lady of Lourdes (St. Louis de Montfort’s Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary or Fr. Michael Gaitley’s 33 Days to Morning Glory). Daily rosary. Read a book about Mary. Millions of Memorares for a great cause (especially for the IHM sisters or Casing Nets efforts to evangelize). Offer all prayers through Mary so that they will be purified and handed over to Christ. Say a Marian prayer with your before and after meals prayers.

Be a servant, become a saint!
