Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Beloved:
Who indeed is the victor over the world
but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

This is the one who came through water and Blood, Jesus Christ,
not by water alone, but by water and Blood.
The Spirit is the one who testifies,
and the Spirit is truth.

So there are three who testify,
the Spirit, the water, and the Blood,
and the three are of one accord.

If we accept human testimony,
the testimony of God is surely greater.
Now the testimony of God is this,
that he has testified on behalf of his Son.
Whoever believes in the Son of God
has this testimony within himself.

Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar
by not believing the testimony God has given about his Son.
And this is the testimony:
God gave us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son.
Whoever possesses the Son has life;
whoever does not possess the Son of God does not have life.

I write these things to you so that you may know
that you have eternal life,
you who believe in the name of the Son of God.
 1 Jn 5:5-13

[5:1–5] Children of God are identified not only by their love for others (1 Jn 4:7–9) and for God (1 Jn 5:1–2) but by their belief in the divine sonship of Jesus Christ. Faith, the acceptance of Jesus in his true character and the obedience in love to God’s commands (1 Jn 5:3), is the source of the Christian’s power in the world and conquers the world of evil (1 Jn 5:4–5), even as Christ overcame the world (Jn 16:33).

* [5:6–12] Water and blood (1 Jn 5:6) refers to Christ’s baptism (Mt 3:16–17) and to the shedding of his blood on the cross (Jn 19:34). The Spirit was present at the baptism (Mt 3:16; Mk 1:10; Lk 3:22; Jn 1:32, 34). The testimony to Christ as the Son of God is confirmed by divine witness (1 Jn 5:7–9), greater by far than the two legally required human witnesses (Dt 17:6). To deny this is to deny God’s truth; cf. Jn 8:17–18. The gist of the divine witness or testimony is that eternal life (1 Jn 5:11–12) is given in Christ and nowhere else. To possess the Son is not acceptance of a doctrine but of a person who lives now and provides life.

I cheated this morning and copied what is in the footnotes of the Bible.  I had writer’s block.  I love the last line, “To possess the Son is not acceptance of a doctrine but of a person who lives now and provides life”.  Jesus lives now.  Do you know where?  ”Eternal life is given in Christ and nowhere else”.  What are we waiting for?  Find Jesus and give up self to follow Him and be His disciple.  He is “wherever two or three are gathered in my name”, He is in the Eucharist, He is in the Tabernacles of every Church, He is in Adoration chapels, His Word is in the Bible living and effective in all times, He is in prayer, He is in your heart.  ”Seek and you shall find”.  ”Faith, the acceptance of Jesus in his true character and the obedience in love to God’s commands, is the source of the Christian’s power in the world and conquers the world of evil, even as Christ overcame the world”.  Faith in Jesus conquers the world, not the Romans, not Hitler, not ISIS, not your phone, not Netflix, not the Internet, not sports.

It happened that there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where Jesus was;
and when he saw Jesus,
he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said,
“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”
Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said,
“I do will it. Be made clean.”
And the leprosy left him immediately.
Then he ordered him not to tell anyone, but
“Go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing
what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.”
The report about him spread all the more,
and great crowds assembled to listen to him
and to be cured of their ailments,
but he would withdraw to deserted places to pray.  Lk 5:12-16

“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean”. “I do will it.  Be made clean”.  Confession and adoration at it’s finest.
“He would withdraw to deserted places to pray”.

What Jesus prescribes for any ailments that hinder your spiritual life, go to a deserted place and talk to Him.  Come to Jesus, he will heal your soul.  Physical ailments may be crosses we have to bear.  Do we see our crosses as gifts to grow closer to Christ, to grow in holiness?  We may not be healed of our physical ailments because they are the way God is calling us to grow in holiness.  Embrace your crosses the way Jesus embraced His for you.

Today’s challenge: Devote yourself totally and completely to the only One who gives you eternal life.  Go to confession more this new year.  Come to Jesus to be healed of any physical or spiritual ailments.

Be a servant, become a saint!
