Prayer Prompt before reading LK 11:47-54 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” LK 11:47-54

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, Jesus presents the Pharisees as those who insidiously (proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects) lead others astray through their seeming attention to the law. Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own. I also can be really strict about holding other’s accountable to follow the rules, but don’t follow them myself sometimes. I believe all of us sometimes worry more about the law more than loving others. We all can make the mistake of being like the Pharisees.

The point Jesus is trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love. He is love straight through and this is what we will be surrounded with and filled up with in the spiritual realm, our heavenly homeland. We have been given an earthly body with a soul, to love with our bodies, our actions and words. Our bodies are driven or animated by the soul.

He made us to have compassion (suffer with) on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it. This is what matters on judgment day, how much did you glorify the Father with your life. This in turn glorifies you and others see you as an other-Christ!

Today’s challenge: Don’t get too caught up in sin and rules, although these are important to keep order, the most important thing we can do is love, to give yourself away to another, a self-gift. The crazy backwards thing about it is when you give yourself away you become full of joy because you are living the way you were created to be!

Be a servant, be a saint today!

Today in the Gospel, Jesus told us that we are missing the purpose of why God gave us life, why we are here. We are here so we can love one another, to have grief, to be happy, to be sad, and angry. But most of all, we are called to love Jesus. Jesus is what makes the world spin. Jesus is what makes a good, happy life. He is the reason why we even get to live! He has given us SO many blessings and gifts. But the thing is, we don’t deserve any of it. So today, let us all try to be thankful and realize how truly blessed we are.

We have been given an earthly body with a soul, to love with our bodies, our actions and words. Our bodies are driven or animated by the soul. This stood out to me because God never had to give us life, he could have just stopped at Adam and Eve. He made us because we all have a purpose that we are supposed to fill in the Heavenly world, and the Earthly world.

“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” LK 11:47-54. This stood out to me because Jesus is saying that the people at the temple have taken away the key to knowledge. Another reason why this stood out to me is because Jesus is saying that the people themselves get to enter even though they are stopping others that want to enter.

this part of the Gospel stuck out to me today because, its telling us that Jesus was telling the people what would happen. After the end of his last sentence people followed him around just to see what he was going to say next so he could better prepare themselves for what is to come. The truth is Jesus may tell us what is to come and what is not to come, when he tells you, don’t only think about yourselves (unless Jesus tells you otherwise) otherwise you are selfish and only wanted Jesus to tell you so then you wouldn’t have to parish like others. Do what Jesus asks of you, if you do you shall be worthy of heaven.(you already are but like a higher chance)

I think that this is telling us that even if we look down on our ancestors for doing something wrong, if we do not learn from them and make sure we are not doing the same thing, we will end up doing exactly what we don’t want to do.

The Pharisees do not understand why God gave us this amazing life. They only care about rules and laws. They don’t understand that God gave us this life to live and love each other. The Pharisees were also trying to catch Jesus when He would say something bad but He never did because Jesus loves each and every one of us.

In this scripture reflection it tells me that we cant boss around other people trying to force them to be perfect when we ourselves are not perfect. It is extremely important to remember that no one can be truly perfect so we cant have unachievable goals. Striving to try to be perfect is one thing but over working and being hard on yourself when you don’t meet those goals can affect you negatively and make you think your’e not enough. This is good to remember that Jesus will love you even when your’e not perfect because he doesn’t expect you to be.

“I believe all of us sometimes worry more about the law more than loving others.” this line in the reflection really spoke to me because sometimes we worry more about what others think, or like the line says, “the law”, instead of loving others. Sometimes we can be hypocritical, we can judge others for what they do without realizing we do the same things. We need to worry less and stop judging others and start loving each other like God loves all of us. Even though we all make mistakes, there is still room for improvement, one sin doesn’t define us. We are on this earth to love each other, so when we judge and bring hatred to the world we are defeating the purpose of life. Even if we don’t necessarily love someone, we should still always bring kindness and positivity towards them.

I think the Gospel today is telling us to love as God has loved, for that is what he made us for. There is always love in someone but some don’t harness it and actually let it spread like God. They let the hatred they have overpower the love and cover it like a blanket as if they put it in a cage because they don’t want to let it free and reign. But that’s what God is telling us, love and love everyone even your enemies! Everyone deserves to be loved by someone. So don’t hate on people, instead love them as God loves them. Love them like Jesus loves you. But most importantly, love God more than you love you or your neighbor, and let God protect you and love you.

In today’s Scripture It really hit me hard, but in an amazing way. “This generation will be charged with its own blood” it really stuck out to me because we know ourselves and know that we start to fall away from Christ, its not a secret we know that we start leaving Jesus which we should not because God made you, not for this world, but for heaven. The Phrasies start falling away to do the same. We all make mistakes, but we should always learn from them because Jesus forgives us and our trespasses. We are empowered by the spirit and one mistake is not who we are because that’s not what God wants for us. He wants us to follow him through every step of the journey. God Loves You!! God Bless!!

What really stuck out to me in this scripture was “I also can be really strict about holding other’s accountable to follow the rules, but don’t follow them myself sometimes.”. I like this because I can totally agree. I feel like we often judge other people without judging ourselves first. It’s hard for others to take our advice if we don’t listen to our own advice. But I also think the advice we give people, is the advice we wish someone would give us. God created us to love even when others don’t deserve it. We are made to forgive and have compassion.

While really we should judge ourselve and worry more about our own love and forgiveness. Yeah you might want to stop making similar sins but were humans, we arent perfect, no one can be perfect. So really what im trying to get at is not to judge your neighbor, rather think about yourself, your choices, what you do wrong and to change those thing and what you do right and keep doing those things. I think sometimes we think too much of others not following the rules and we dont look at our self. We cannot be hypocrites and we ourselves need to improve on ourself. We cannot be worried about others in that sense.

“Don’t get too caught up in sin and rules”, I think this means that even though it is important to make sure we are following Jesus’ way we are also living life and not worrying about if everything we do is a sin.

“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” LK 11:47-54. In todays Gospel Jesus tells the pharasies that their genaration will have much blood spilt. He also says that our church would not still be alive if blood was not shed. I think what he means is that our generation needs to make sacrifices.

Jesus is love straight through . When we give ourselves to him, he gives us his love. He wants to give it all to us. But sin is holding us back. Laws too. Sometimes, to win, you need to do what you think is right.

what i got from this was that sometimes we get too caught up in the rules and thats all what we focus on and we forget to love and forgive one another. And something else i read that got stuck in my head was that dont get too caught up in sin and rules sometimes its good to folliow rules just dont make it your top thing and you should love another and like we dont even tell our parents and best friends what were trully suffering from or very scared of and yet we make fun of others who are the same but are more open. we are the ones being so hypocritcal.

“Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors,” this part stood out to me because I know that are are some things that I could’ve stopped and things would’ve turned out better for some other people, but I didn’t whether it was because of other peoples opinions on them, or because of stereotypes I’ve come up with and classified people in.

In the Gospel, we should learn to not be Judging. Our grade often judges people because maybe they got a new haircut, or they have something on there pants, etc. We should take time to think about what we are gonna say before you say it. My dad always said to me If you have nothing nice to say then dont say i, this meaning Just think if your gonna say something kind before you talk. People can become hurt from your words so just be Christ like.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the Pharisees to not judge others and reflect on ourselves. We often judge others because they sin or aren’t following God’s commandments, but not often we reflect on our sins. On top of that, we must not recognize that Christianity is not a set of rules to follow so that we can be in Heaven. Life is not a game of trying to increase social points to get into Heaven, but rather you are here in this world so that you can make a relationship with the one who created you, God. God wants your love and time, and he will be waiting for you when you join him when your earthly life passes. Although following the commandments and helping others is good, do it from the good of your heart, not so you can be recognized by others as a good person. Love is forever and powerful, and if we falter or sin or become stressed, God will always be with you to give you his love, as God is love himself.

I read Mr Goertz’s reflection, and I can relate a lot to it. Sometimes I can admit, I do sometimes use knowledge and judgement before I use my power of understanding. But we should all try to love each other and especially try to understand. People don’t want to be judged, most of the time they just want love and friendship. If we know people want this, why do we judge? Im going to try my best not to judge anymore and look at people choices from a different perspective, a mindset that Jesus would have.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is hating on the Pharisees and their deceased bodies and the building their bodies are in. He also hates on the people worshiping them. He basically says that they are not the people you should be worshiping, but I am (God is)

I think today’s Gospel is telling us that our generation has lost the ability to make sacrifices but the Church was built on the sacrifices of so many people so I think it’s important for us to be able to sacrifice for God.

I think that God is trying to tell us that we cannot do something then judge someone else for doing the same. Just because you think you are better than someone does not mean you are. We are all equals even in our decisions God created us all out of love to come and live our lives. God has a plan for all of us and we have to and see what it is.

“this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world” This is what stuck out to me today. This seems very heavy all the blood of all the prophets will be charged upon us. But this is not something to worry about blood is shed every time you sin even though you may not see it. Blood is love the more you sin the more Jesus loves you. This does not mean to go and sin all you want because you will get closer to him, No. If your parents tell you they are making you do it for love or they say they are glad you messed up so you can realize not to do it again. That is the kind of love Jesus shows us when we sin.

“Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood!” When I saw this is verse It stuck out to me more than anything in today’s Gospel. When he says that this generation with be charged with our blood it feels like that’s what going to happen to our generation. Everyone around teenage I feel is falling away from God and sometimes the things that are making them fall away from God I feel could help them be closer with him. Take social media for example it doesn’t to take much to use those apps for good and to be positive and not negative online. Another example is I feel like we act more grown up then we are. In the ways we dress and speak and act but if we act older than why cant we use that to preach about God and the bible.

The message I got from today’s gospel is that I should be leading others to God and not taking them away. Jesus said, “Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” I believe that this statement means it is not okay for me to do evil things and lead others to do them as well. I feel like we live in a society today where so many people do wrong and it becomes normal and that it now is weird or odd to see someone doing good because of all the wrong being done by others.

in today’s scripture it talks about how God made us with reason and compassion , and he made us to forgive and love others as he did to us. This is what matters on judgment day, how much did you glorify the Father with your life. We must love others even if they ask not to love for them, God would always want us to love others and ourselves as well.

Today’s gospel tells us that we need to self evaluate and fix the wrongs that we do. We should fix our mistakes so we can fulfill our promises we made to God or we will receive punishment. We need to gain the wisdom to do what is right always and to know how to forgive and be more like Jesus. We should always strive to be alike to him and to do the things he did.

I think the message in today’s gospel is that we should call people to follow God and not to stray away from him and that we we should check ourselves because we are not perfect so we should check ourselves before we go around and correct others who are doing something bad, when we do those same things ourselves

“When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees
began to act with hostility toward him” I feel like some people will always be like the pharisees who will start to resent you if what you are preaching goes against their beliefs. Even though some people are like this we need to learn to put up with them because those types of people will always exist in ours lives.

In todays Gospel God told me that we all make mistakes but we need to fix them and forgive the people we do it to. We also need to be forgiven and treated right. We also have to treat each other kindly. If we forgive and treat others how we want to be treated and helping people find their way to God we will all be holy people and go to Heaven one day.

The pharisees never ‘SEE” that they need to love and serve God and not make them the high ones. you should be servants to each other and keep things holy and try not to replace a holy time or place with other objects lets all love the Lord and care for everything he does

“I believe all of us sometimes worry more about the law more than loving others” Some people are just so worried about others that they don’t make time for themselves. Instead of pointing out what everyone else is doing wrong, start recognizing your own. Not everyone is perfect but some people should worry less about others than themselves.

what i got from today’s reflection was that god is trying to tell us to not to focus on materialistic things and to focus on what he put us here on this earth for not to make a lot of money i mean of course having a good income is great but money will often blind people of the faith because when you have money you just get whatever you want, and that can be a very big distraction from god and his will. he didn’t make you for no reason he made you to love others, show them the love that he brings, forgive them no matter what they do and help others; help others come out of a deep hole they’ve buried themselves in. he wants us to do this because hes trying to show himself through us and we make that possible by listening to his word in the bible because he carries messages through the bible. we show others through our actions, our heavenly father. when you spread love you show him. you show Jesus, and you can start today, spread the word. #YODO

The gospel remind that sometimes i don’t see the importance of something . For example like a plastic bag aroung a Milk jug. The Milk Jug has a handle to carry with but I still use the plastic bag. Like how the Pharisees were using the temple as a market place and lost the importance of the temple and being with God.

The part of this Gospel that stuck out to me was when he says, “I will send to them prophets and Apostles;some of them they will kill and persecute’ in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets” This means to me that God has sent prophets and Apostles, but we rejected them and then we will be punished for what we have done. But if we fix what we have chosen to do wrong then we can still be able to connect with God again.

what stuck out to me was “When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees
began to act with hostility toward him
and to interrogate him about many things,
for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.”

This stuck out to me because I know whenever we are angry or mad, we try to get the person we are mad at in trouble by something they said. Like ” Mom *Insert sibling name here* called me a ____.” we always try to get the other person in trouble to feel better, even though it accomplishes nothing but making us feel like we got the revenge we wanted. And that isn’t good and you’ll probably just feel bad later! if we keep going on like this, we will never be free of sin. Its kinda what the pharisees were doing to try and get Jesus in trouble. they clung on to words they could use to get Jesus condemned to death.
