St. Paul’s letter to the Phillipians is one of my favorite to remind me to be humble and trust in God alone. “Who though He was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather He emptied Himself taking on the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found in human appearance, He humbled Himself becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Only use Jesus’ name in prayer, never in anger. Each day you wake, give your first words to Him. Be humble, like Jesus and remember these words when you think about complaining. God became man, perfection to slavery to die for our sins who had no sin. There is no greater sacrifice or greater humility, Amen.

In the Gospel, Jesus reminds us all are chosen but few decide to come to the banquet of heaven. Everyone is too busy with daily tasks that do not matter in comparison to the Kingdom of Heaven. God gave us earthly gifts to glorify Him, not to be distracted from Him. What choice will you make?
