Paul teaches us a great lesson on unselfishness today, “Do nothing out of selfishness or vainglory (to benefit yourself); rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out for his own interests, but also everyone for those of others.” There would be a lot more relationships at peace if we did this. I struggle with this all of the time, I have too much pride!

Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel to invite someone over that cannot repay you. When is the last time you invited someone other than your friends over to spend the night? When is the last time you invited the one in your class that has very few if any friends? This is a difficult teaching, but God wants us to be not afraid and worry what others will think. If we are to be His hands and heart and we don’t invite others into our lives, who will. We are to be living the Good News!
