John teaches us about perfect love today. “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not perfect in love.” 1 John 4:11-18
Next, Jesus tells his apostles to not be afraid (fear) when they see him walking on water. He says, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid.”
Fear vs. love
We fear many things in life. Any time we enter a new situation (fear of the unknown), when you wonder if someone likes you, when you finish a test and don’t know if you did well, after you get caught doing something wrong and you don’t know what the punishment will be. All of these have a similar fault in them, they are lacking love. Love has no fear because you did what was right. When you do what is right you are free and have no fear. For fear of the unknown we are called to trust in God, we call this faith. Today, study, obey, communicate, do what is right and love. Then, live with no fear in the peace of God.
