Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
He said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!

Or those eighteen people who were killed
when the tower at Siloam fell on them–
do you think they were more guilty
than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!”

And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree
but have found none.
So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
‘Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.

If not you can cut it down.’”  LK 13:1-9

Let us not forget that Jesus Christ already paid the bill, His death and resurrection reconciled the every human with God the Father so that we may live.  He did not come to condemn the world but save it.  What responsibility is left to us?  First, we must be baptized, anointed and set apart by God for a special mission, receive the Spirit, and become an adopted son or daughter of God.  Next, after we receive the Spirit and sanctifying grace, we must fight our fallen human nature and the Devil.  This is difficult, Jesus knew this giving us the sacrament of reconciliation through a priest, “whoever sins you forgive are forgiven and whoever sins you retain are retained.”  God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are the Hope found in the parable Jesus preaches in the second half of the gospel.  They are the ones saying wait leave it for a little longer, let me cultivate the ground and fertilize it with my grace, this person’s heart may convert.  God is constantly loving and forgiving, it is our job to be open to it.  Then, we may bear fruit in the future.
We just visited the Sedgwick County Detention Facility.  We learned through prison ministry it is difficult for people to change their life, but with God’s grace anything is possible.  We are called to be hope for others by lifting them up when they are down even those who have committed the worst crimes.  God’s grace isn’t only for certain people.  It is for all repentant souls.  The key is leading others to Christ to learn about His forgiveness, get a new start, and bear fruit in the future.
“Every sinner has a past and every saint has a future.” St. Augustine

Today’s challenge:  God is awesome constantly forgiving and loving.  Come to Him by repenting and changing your heart. You will see things differently and treat people differently.  It is life-changing!  Pray for those in prison to convert.

Become a saint!
