Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
“While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God,
he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
He saw two boats there alongside the lake;
the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”
Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come to help them.
They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.” Lk 5:1-11
Today, Jesus calls his disciples to follow Him. This will require change in their lives. Peter was married. They had a full time job as fisherman and the others had other trades. Today, in this Scripture passage, Jesus is calling you to follow Him. If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation. Ask Him if you are to be married and start praying for your future spouse. We are all called to be followers of Jesus, disciples. You have a choice to make; God’s grace is waiting to be given to you everyday. He is chasing after you to bring you back to Him.
Today, Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. There will be sorrow and sacrifice, too. Just ask Mary, His mother. Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness. It requires swallowing one’s pride. Jesus does not care where you are at in your spiritual life, today He is calling you to follow Him. “Be not afraid!”
Today’s challenge: Don’t worry about how much of a sinner you are, allow Jesus into your heart. He will slowly transform you. ”Be not afraid!”
We represent the fish in this scenario, the believers are caught by Jesus but the ones that are not caught are not forgiven.
Jesus went onto the boat and told them to cast out the net even though they had no luck for the entire night but, they listened anyway. In our lives we should take the choice to listen to God and what he has to say to us. Even if we feel like it will do nothing, it will certainly change your life if you pray to God
What I got from this scripture is that asking for help is a good thing when you cant do something or think you cant. Another thing i got from this scripture is to own up to your wrongs. Go to confession and confess your mistakes God will forgive you. It will feel better to have a clean slate rather to feel guilty of your wrongs.
It is saying that even if you haven’t heard the voice of God you can still be impacted by his voice. I know this is a sign because he wants me to see His and His great influence on us.
We should always trust what God is telling us to do. Peter questioned Jesus about putting the net back into the water, but Jesus is God, and God always knows what is right.
This is cool because Jesus just does a demonstration so big and so powerful that Peter’s boat probably smelled like dead fish for awhile. Jesus did all of that, just to show the crowds how awesome his power was and to get Peter and the other fishers to follow him. Its crazy what Jesus can do making the net so full that both ships almost capsized.
Sometimes we have to sacrifice things to fully give ourselves to God. But it’s okay because in the end we will have eternal happiness with God.
This Gospel taught me that even if I am having a bad day I should always trust that God will make my day better. I should always trust that God will lead me into the right path that he planned for me. I also trust that God will plan a good path for me in my future. When things get tough or I don’t go in the right path, I can never turn from God and I need to always love him.Han
If the Lord came to us today, how would we react? Would we run and hide, or would we leave everything and follow Him? We cannot know for sure unless He came to us. We should not be afraid to follow Him. He died on the cross for us. The least we can do is to follow Him. Where will we be on the final day when He comes to make all new? For many are called but few are chosen.
Today the scripture is telling me that faith in God can create miracles. Jesus asked Simon Peter to lower the net, even when he hadn’t caught anything all night. If I were Simon, I wouldn’t have done it and I probably would have called Jesus crazy. But Simon had faith, ;and he got more fish than he could probably carry. Jesus said later in the Gospels that even if we only have faith the size of a mustard seed, we could move mountains. Faith can go a long way.
I believe that in this chapter God does not ask he commands. He knows all so he will steer you in the right direction, so listen to him. When Jesus said to put his nets in the water Simon hesitate. We must not hesitate and we must do what God said because he cares for us
I think Jesus wants us to let go of everything to follow him. James, John, Simon and the sons of Zebedee gave up everything on Jesus’s command. We need to let Jesus into our heart so he can have us and we will be with him.
it shows that change is good and when you understand that you will become men like where he says “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” so if change is starting to be live in god that is good.
Peter is my confirmation saint not because of the good things he has done, but because of all the times he messed up. He is not perfect, he has a temper and is always doing the wrong thing. But every time he repents. “When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, ‘Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.'” Peter is the perfect example that all of our everyday sins that we can’t get rid of doesn’t make God love us any less.
In the Gospel, Jesus is telling Simon to throw the nets to catch fish, Simon listens and gets a ton of fish. In our lives we need to listen to Christ and do what he tells us, and we will be rewarded with Christ.
In today’s gospel, Simon has been fishing all night and is unsuccessful at catching any fish. Jesus tells them to lower their nets one more time and they were able to catch an incredible amount of fish. I can use this in my life by listening and trusting God, no matter how impossible it may seem.
To me this Scripture is saying that we should not be “fishing” for things of this world and that we should be fishing for people to convert to the Catholic Faith by going out and spreading the Gospel.
We have to realize that God has a plan. So when we get mad or disappointed just know that God is in control and He will do whats best even if you don’t think He is. This is also why we need to bring people to God so they can live life to the fullest and praise God.
I think Jesus is trying to tell me that I give up everything I have and to follow Him. He is telling me to be a fisher of men and to help lead others to heaven. I should not be afraid to come and follow Jesus.
Its saying to not be afraid to talk about Jesus to other people.
Jesus is trying to tell us that we can always believe in him and that we shall never give up and keep working and going to church and confession.
Simon didn’t think they would catch any fish but when Jesus said to put the net back in the water, Simon agreed. No matter how unsure we are, we can always trust in Jesus and God.
“Do not be afraid” really stuck out to me. It makes me feel comforted and lets me know that Jesus means no harm, he is just full of love for us. It also helps me to understand that we need to be opened for Jesus, as he is opened for us.
In this Gospel we learned that Jesus needs us to follow him. There was a sentence that stuck out to me it was when they said ¨Depart from me lord for I am a sinful man.¨ God knows that we are all sinful, But to become less sinful we need to follow Jesus. Even in the hard times God is still there waiting for you no matter what.
At first, when Jesus told the disciples to lower the net, they doubted him. However, once Simon saw the amount of fish they had gotten, he dropped to his knees and said sorry. They didn’t believe in Jesus, but still followed his orders. Even if we have doubts, we should always try to follow what God wants us to do. We should trust in the Lord’s word.
By reading this the lesson that Jesus is teaching me today is that trusting in him will lead me to a great accomplishments and he will guide me through my life. Also to be able to trust God and not to go against his greater judgement.
Great accomplishments or great love, which do you think God prefers?
Something that stuck out to me was when peter fell to his knees and said “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” This sticks out to me because peter recognized he was sinful. instead of hiding it.
What sticks out to me was “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men”. The reason is because he wants us to spread his word to people and to catch them to join us in the faith.
Jesus wants us to listen and follow Him. Like the way Simon listened and put out the nets even though he thought there had been no fish. Jesus wants us to follow Him like the way the disciples gave up everything and followed Him upon command. Jesus wants us to follow him and be disciples of Christ
When Jesus said, “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” And then Simon said, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” That stood out to me because we should all be like Simon, he knew he hasn’t been catching anything but he still listen to Gods word. Our sins are like the empty nets, even though were sinners we still have to listen to God and be holy like him.
I should give up everything I have and come follow Jesus. I am called to be a fisher of men. I should not be afraid because God is always going to be with me. Jesus is trying to tell me to help other go to heaven.
This piece of the Gospel is telling us to have faith in God. Just Like how (Simon) peter was willing to throw his net into the water when he was told to.
What this passage told me today that we need to always follow Jesus even if it is crazy. Something that stood out to me was they caught nothing until Jesus told them to lower the nets, that just shows that even in the darkest times we should always follow Him.
What Jesus is trying to say is that we should always believe what we can and cannot do and never give up and ask him for help and u will be rewarded
I think the scripture is saying we should trust and belive Jesus.
What this passage told me today that we need to always follow Jesus even if it is crazy. Something that stood out to me was they caught nothing until Jesus told them to lower the nets, that just shows that even in the darkest times we should always follow Him.
What thus scripture told me was to not be afraid of anything because God is always with you even when you go into heaven when you die.

In this story Peter is like us. God is calling us to be fishers of men just like peter. He wants us to bring more of his children back to him. He says be not afraid because they probably are worried about giving up their life to this man who they just met. And in the world today I know some are afraid to go into the vocation and they think they are not good enough but God calls us all but we have to notice that call.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that when we work hard enough then we will be rewarded and that to always trust in him even if things are rough in life.
With faith, we don’t really work hard, we open ourselves to God’s grace and say yes more and more which does require effort, but mostly surrendering ourselves to God’s plans for our lives.
What i got from this gospel was God telling us we need to teach people about the truth of God. We also need to not be afraid to share the word of Jesus with others.
This really made me think about that worldly things that don really matter, like money or materials. What really matters is giving up everything for God and following him to get to Heaven
There is a lot of wisdom in your reflection.
We should listen to God when he talks to us. In today’s passage the apostles listen to Jesus when he told them to cast the net on one side. They had had no luck at all but they still trusted Him and did as He said. Because they trusted Him, they had plentiful fish.
God is almighty and can do anything, no matter how impossible we may think it is. We just have to believe in Him and trust in Him. We all sin and that happens for a reason. Everything does. We have to keep a strong faith and believe.
when jesus said “cast your nets” i think that was a sign that the one true god will command us and when we fallo those commands we will do great things and grow in god.
Good reflection, Jackson!
This is an example of how God can change our lives if we follow him. Peter had been fishing all night and didn’t catch any fish. At Jesus’ command, he casts his net out and catches a lot of fish. Once we follow God, He can change our lives.
Great response!
What the scripture is telling me in my head is its saying that if you follow jesus good things will happen to you. But if you take it for granted you will surely be struck down and God might take you for granted.
I don’t think God will take us for granted. He loves us even if we do not respond. I do believe holy things will happen if we follow Jesus.
The part that I enjoined to most of was “Don’t worry about how much of a sinner you are, allow Jesus into your heart. He will slowly transform you. ”Be not afraid!” because I means that Jesus is always with us and that we should allow Jesus into our hearts.
Yes, sin is a part of our condition, give it to Jesus. We are called to come to Him broken, He gives us the grace we need to be holy.
This gospel tells us to not be afraid and trust in the Lord’s miracles. He can work a miracle at anytime so trust him!
Trust is huge, continue to trust!
In this scripture it proves that God can have different plans then what we want to do and we should just do what God want us to do.
Great point! His path is always best.
I think this scripture is telling us that we can’t be ignorant. We must just be faithful and not fail to listen.
What are some ways we can listen better?
To me this meant that we have to trust what God says and to not hesitate. We have to put all of our trust in God. Even if we think the thing that he is telling us is dumb or pointless we should still do it. If we do not trust God we will never get anywhere in life. God is God and does everything good.
I don’t think God is going to tell us to do something dumb or pointless, but I get what you are saying!
In today’s Gospel, Jesus told Simon to lower the net one more time even though they had no luck all day. They didn’t have hope that anything would happen, but they still listened. They ended up catching so much fish that the nets were tearing. God always has a plan, so if you trust him, you will be rewarded.
Good job!
In this scripture passage, Jesus causes Peter and the other fishermen to catch an unbelievable amount of fish, however, the fishermen had to work hard to haul it off the boat. This is telling me that God will give us anything we need, but it may come with sacrifice instead of being super easy. It won’t be a walk in “Hey, I need something. Thanks.” thing. We have to be willing to believe and to offer up ourselves to God. We have to be willing to put him first.
Good job, Natalie!
Jesus is telling us that to follow him you may need to put down things in your life. If you have a sports practice on Sunday, go to Mass before your practice. You need to do challenging things to be able to follow him. Think of the martyrs who laid down their lay for Jesus. Every time you make a sacrifice you lay a little of your life down.I saints can die for Jesus, you can offer sacrifices.
Good point, Jacob!
This shows that we should trust in Jesus. Simon could have said no to Jesus when he said to put the net back in the water, but he didn’t. He trusted Jesus and put the net back in the water and he got a boat full of fish and remember, Simon was on the edge of giving up for the day but then Jesus came and gave him hope. And because Simon had faith in him he threw the net back in the water. If Simon wouldn’t have done that he wouldn’t have been able to be our first bishop, he wouldn’t have done all those amazing things for God. That one small act of faith and trust changed Simon’s life. So have faith in Jesus, and let him change your life.
Great job, Heidi!
Jesus went onto the boat and told them to cast out the net even though they had no luck, but they listened anyway. This reflects to my life because when we have no luck praying we need to keep listening to him and keep trying even when it’s hard.
Today Jesus is calling us to follow Him and be His disciples. When He tells them they will be fishers of men, they are no longer just fishermen they have become his disciples. When Jesus helps them catch all the fish He is proving stuff to them and also testing them. The test is that they will trust Him about the fish, even though they haven’t caught anything all day.
This scripture is telling me that we should follow him and spread the word and gather people like the fish in the net.
I think it means that although you’re suffering and you just fell like it’s never going to end just remember if He keeps waking you up in the morning He isn’t done with what he has planned for you so in the end all your suffering will pay off.
In today’s gospel I think that Jesus is telling us that we are sinners, but we are still loved and called. Jesus knows us and calls us, even though we have done nothing to deserve his grace, and we are sinners, as Simon Peter said “depart from me LORD for I am a sinful man” but Jesus recognized his repentance and called Peter to him, we need to repent, because Jesus is calling us, and has great plans in store.
Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. Love requires sacrifice, unselfishness, and swallowing one’s pride. Jesus does not care where you are at in your spiritual life, today He is calling you to follow Him. “Be not afraid!” Let us be fishers of men for the Lord.
This scripture shows us that we should never have doubt in Jesus. We need to have faith and trust in Him to lead us onto the right path, even when things aren’t going as planned.
The Gospel is telling us that even on our worst days he is there for us. Just like when they thought they wouldn’t catch anything when Jesus said throw the net in. We should always have trust that the Lord is with us and to never doubt him. We should always have faith in God.
The gospel today is telling me that whenever we need to talk to God we can, and he will talk back to us. We don’t always need to be doing something instead we should make time for God even if it’s just silent prayer. God will always be open to us and that’s how we should be to him.
What I am getting from this Gospel is that, if we follow Jesus, amazing and great things can happen in our lives. I also think that it’s telling us to never be afraid and believe in God.
Today, Jesus is calling Simon the Apostle to be his Apostle. Everyday Jesus is calling us like he called Simon, yet he only had to call Simon once and Simon devoted his whole life to Jesus, but Jesus is calling us always, yet we still cannot seem to follow him always no matter how hard we try. Why do we spend so much time in the world, when we could hear Jesus and spend out time in him. Simon was called to catch men. This means he was called to go out and bring people to the faith. He was only called once by Jesus, yet we are called everyday yet we try and get up in other things that take us away from Jesus. It’s like if Simon didn’t cast the net when Jesus commanded him to, he calls us, yet we choose not to listen
What I got out of today’s Gospel was that the Lord is reaching out to us and we still have times where we dis obey him and ignore God, push him to the side. Trust in the Lord and good things will happen and if we do this we will hopefully live a great holy life in eternity.
In this gospel, Jesus shows to us some of the things that he can really go. He flabbergasted two fishermen just to get them to join his side.
In this scripture I found out that we need sacrifice things to give ourselves fully to God. We have to be able to ask for help when we need it and not just say put and think that someone will help us. We need to stand up for ourselves and know that you can always ask for help when your struggling.
I think that through this Gospel passage God is trying to tell me that, sometimes we just need to trust in Him more, because we need to realize that God has a plan for us and we need to sacrifice things sometimes in order to follow that plan. He is trying to make us happy as much as He can, so the least we can do is listen to His plan. We may be upset that we had to do something we didn’t want to do in order to follow God’s plan, but it’s all going to be okay in the end.
In the gospel today, the fishermen were trying to catch fish, but were catching nothing. Then Jesus came and told them to put their nets in again. This time they were full of fish. The fishermen trusted Jesus even though they had proof of having no luck before. I can apply this to my life by trusting in God not only in moments in my life, but in how he wants me to follow Him.
I think this scripture passage means that if you follow God anything is possible no matter what, you just need to gather enough spiritual strength to try and try again. Even in you failed over and over and over. Trust in God’s Plan
What I get from this Gospel is that whatever Jesus asks us to do anything we should do it. Because Jesus knows everything and we should obey him because he is the true God.
I think that the scripture is saying that you should not be afraid because he is always with you and protecting you. I can apply this to my life by not being scared of anything and now that God always has a plane for me.
It says it won’t work.
Today is a good example of always trusting God. Like in the story they could not catch fish until they trusted in God. So He is trying to tell you that if you pray and put you faith in God good things will happen.
Jesus is trying to get others to follow him by filling a net with fish to the limit, he is showing us the power of God by doing miracles and getting us to follow him.
Todays Scripture talks about simon going and catching fish, when Jesus comes to help them he told him to lower the nets one more time they got two boats fulls and fish because the listen to God and been grateful for what he gave. We should be more like simon and his brother.
This is telling me to spread the word and follow him.
I think it is telling us that we should always trust in Jesus and know he will put us on the right path. He will also always be there when you need help or someone to talk to about something, He is always there to listen.
To me this feels like in life we to be positive and not be scared of things. People always are getting scared of things in the world that are normal things. We need to live life to the fullest and God wants us to do that just the way he intended it because nobody wants to see someone one be scared of anything.
They didn’t catch any fish the entire day but when Jesus arrived they caught fish immediately. Thats when you know the power of Jesus Christ and they know he will always be there for yoy
I think that today’s Scripture is asking us to give up all of our earthly desires and follow Him. He always wants us to follow Him but He is also patient when sometimes we go down the wrong path and need help coming back to him.
It shows that when you trust in God he will always be there for us. Even when you turn on him, he will be there waiting for you when you are ready to fully except him.
In this Gospel Jesus is saying that we should trust him and his decisions. We are to follow him and we as Catholics need to let him do his thing
I think this scripture is saying That anything is possible no matter what
I think that this gospel is a great message for today’s world in which we value work and money over God. When Jesus boards Simon Peter’s boat he uses his power to show Simon that He is more powerful than anything on earth. I am sure than many of our parents work a lot and they might not be around much. We just have to know that when we are adults with full time jobs that we need to find time to put God ahead of money and our job.
In Today’s Gospel Jesus goes fishing with the disciples. This reminds me of a father with his sons going fishing. Even when the sons say we have had no luck today they go anyway. To me this reminds me of everyday life. Jesus is always there we must submit to him. Everyday he is asking us will you come with me so I can make you fishers of men. This one answer will change your life but you have to decide if you want to throw the net or leave it.
I think this Scripture passage is beautifully detailed, and it is a life lesson that all of us need to follow. At the time, Simon didn’t believe in the Messiah, he didn’t know or understand that He was the Lord. Yet, He trusts Him. I wish I had that kind of faith, to trust a total stranger, even when you are nervous about them. They left everything behind, their lives, their family, their money, to follow Jesus. Christ says to not be afraid. To have faith in Him. Jesus knew that Simon was a sinful man, but He still CHOSE Him to be one of His greatest Apostles, who would soon become the first pope.
I think it shows that if you trust in God, he knows what’s best for you, and he will always be there for you and help you.
I think today’s gospel is about trying and perusing no matter if you want to give up or not, do your best and God will do the rest as some say.
When they he told them to lower their nets they douted him but this story is basically telling us to not dout Jesus or God and just let them be in our hearts.
This Gospel is important to me because it shows that you have to trust no matter what you do in life. The fisherman were not getting any fish but they trusted God to give them fish and to help them. Something that stood out to me was that the fisherman left their boats and their family to follow a man that they didn’t know.
I think that the most important part of this is to be a fisher of men. I think that this means to bring people into the church like how Simon brought fish into his boat.
My reflection on this is that you have to be willing to change your life to be able to become an active Catholic. In the scripture, it tells us that Peter was once a much different man, but when he discovered God he forced himself to change his life to be holy. I think that this scripture is quite relevant to modern times considering how hard it is to change our daily doings to be more holy. Especially with new technology, conflicts, the people in our lives, etc.
In this Gospel Jesus tells Simon to throw his nets into the water. Simon had been fishing all night and had caught nothing. I think if any of us were in Simon Peters shoe’s we would have not done what he did. When he did throw the net over the boat probably thinking that he wasn’t going to catch anything he still listened to God and was rewarded. I think what God is trying to tell me that is you listen to what he says you will be rewarded. I think what we have to do is listen to him our whole lives then we will get the reward which is Heaven.
The part that stuck out to me was when they caught all the fish. Why i think that is because we need to believe in him always. Another favorite part it is when he said i will make you fisher of men because it is so powerful. It makes me want to drop everything and folloe him.
God is telling us that we should still do what we think is impossible based on the past and what didn’t happen. I think this relates to me because there have been times that I have worried that things I do are useless because I am not going to achieve my goal. But I believed in God and myself. My goal got achieved just like Peters goal to catch lots of fish did.
Once I read the gospel. God was trying to tell me that even if we are in a crazy minute, we still need to either get up and follow Jesus, or start following him. Most of the time we have to sacrifice things that we might not want to sacrifice but, that how we fully give our selves to God most of the time. God died on the cross and went through bad stuff, at the least, we can sacrifice one or two things for him, himself. But, all will be okay because hopefully you will find your true happiness when you get in Heaven. Trust in God always. He always has a plan for every single one of us.
It is telling us we can’t do anything without Jesus and God. But when you let them into your hearts you can do anything.
I think that God is trying to teach me in this Gospel to listen to Him and to do what he says and to forget about everything else to do what he says. Everyone on the boat listened to Jesus when He told them to do one more cast out to try to catch fish. Once they casted out the nest they were overflowing the boat with fish.
The Gospel is telling us to always trust in God. As long as we trust in God anything can be possible. We should also teach people who don’t believe in God, and teach them about the Gospel and many of the things that are in the Bible.
Jesus wants us to be like the fishermen, but instead of fish, He wants us to have people follow Him. He wants us to get people to become Catholic, and He also wants us to give ourselves up for Him.
It is telling us that we can’t do anything without Jesus or god. But when we let them in our hearts we can do alot.
I think the gospel is saying that sometimes we forget that Jesus is always with us.Sometimes we get distracted by things the modern world has brought. Jesus is always there whether we are focused on him or we are not.
That the way Jesus told the fisherman/disciples to fish somewhere else and kept some fish.
What really stuck out to me was a comment. His name is Noah and he commented “We represent the fish in this scenario, the believers are caught by Jesus but the ones that are not caught are not forgiven.” It means if we don’t turn to God or if we are but don’t pay much attention He will not forgive us when we get to heaven.
It telling us we can’t do anything Without Jesus or God. But we can do anything when we let them into our hearts.
I think the scripture is telling us to believe in God. God is trying to call us back from our sins. If we believe in Him, we will get to Heaven.
I love this gospel because it shows that you have to trust in God no matter what. You can either cast you net or hold it , when you cast your net you believe in God and when you hold it you are not close to God. I thought it was interesting how the fisherman left their boats and their family to go with a man they did not really know.
I love this gospel because it shows that you have to trust in God no matter what. You can either cast your net or hold it , when you cast your net you believe in God and when you hold it you are not close to God. I thought it was interesting how the fisherman left their boats and their family to go with a man they did not really know.
This gospel means to me that if you have bad luck, God will come and fix that. This corresponds witht the fishermen not being able to catch fish all day, but when Jesus is there they get a ton of fish.
This piece of Scripture symbolizes that Peter, a fisherman, will now be “Fishing for men”. This means that Peters will be trying to get people to come to Jesus like he is fishing. We can also do this by sharing our faith to people in person and online. Jesus used many metaphors to show what he wants us to do. Jesus said to put the nets in the water after Simon hadn’t caught anything all night. Despite that, Simon trusted in the Lord and lowered his net into the water and caught enough fish to make his net start tearing. This shows that we need to trust in God even though it might not look too good in the beginning because it will pay off.
One thing I can take from this scripture passage is that we need to be completely obedient to God. When the disciples were obedient and cast there nets into the water great things happened. We need to do what God tells us even If it doesn’t make sense because if we do amazing things will happen.
What this scripture told me was to not be afraid of anything because God is always with you even when you go into heaven when you die.
In today gospel Jesus is teaching the gospel on a boat because too many people are around and cant see. After He is finished He tells Simon to cast the nets. At first he disagreed. We must never disagree with God and we should always trust in His word. Just like the fishermen caught a lot of fish. We can catch our way to the Kingdom of everlasting life.
I think this scripture is telling us to follow Jesus Christ and to trust in Him completely. We also need to be fishers of men and pull others out of the water to Jesus Christ.
He will be able to call you to come to him in life, one way or another. But you must abandon everything to have eternal life with him.
this scripture is telling me that anything is possible with God. these fishermen didn’t think that they where going to get fish but then Jesus told them where to through there nets and then they got a lot of fish .
When you listen to Jesus great things happen. You can listen to him by first listening. Listen to him in silence and what ever he tells you try your best to do. Some things might not make sense at first, but if you trust in God amazing things will happen.
Jesus is calling us to him. That can mean many things. We can either trust is God or not. Trusting in God is the best way to life because
He IS the Truth, the Way, and the Life.
That God is calling us to serve him and to be one of his disciples not to be leave him but to follow him.
What stood up to me was when their boats started to get filled up with fish and when Jesus told them to follow him, they left everything and followed Jesus.
What stood up to me was when their boats started to get filled up with fish and when Jesus told them to follow him, they left everything and followed Jesus.
The gospel is telling us to follow when the fisherman boats filled up with water. They had no choice but to trust they believed they trusted in God. Jesus is the reason all those fisherman caught all those fish. However they still listened and God gave back to them by filling their nets. So we should put him first like Simon and the fisherman did.
This scripture is telling me to always trust in God’s power because it is infinite. Jesus has infinite power, it will never end and it can’t be stopped but sometimes it may seem that it’s not there but it is. He is telling us to trust in him and if we are to do so we will see his greatness. We will make it to heaven and sit right beside him, he gave us life so that we’d have a chance at sitting with him.
this means that we are but fish in a lake of whales
