Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“No one can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink,
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns,
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are not you more important than they?
Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Why are you anxious about clothes?
Learn from the way the wild flowers grow.
They do not work or spin.
But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was clothed like one of them.
If God so clothes the grass of the field,
which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow,
will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’
or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’
All these things the pagans seek.
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”  MT 6:24-34

I love this Gospel!  I am a worry wart, but this teaching brings me peace.  Jesus teaches that if you put total trust in the Father with total faith there is no need to worry.  The greatest example of this I have experienced recently in my life is Jennifer Garrison and her mom giving up their jobs, buying a house for homeless veterans, and now after a year and a half having their 22nd veteran join them.  They started Passageways, LTD (Check out their Facebook). They took a leap of faith after the homeless person was killed under a bridge about two years ago in Wichita.  Jennifer speaks with great enthusiasm about how God has taken care of everything they needed. She said they stopped asking God where the money or items were going to come from and started saying I can’t wait to see how God is going to supply what we need now.  Lawn mower broke down the next day $300 gift card to Lowe’s in the mailbox. She said everyday she sees God’s presence working in their service to these homeless veterans.  It has it’s challenges, it is a 24/7 vocation, but God’s presence and work in these people’s lives is what we are all made for, love and trust in His faithfulness to us.  Once we have learned to sit in the presence of God each day and listen, we begin to live for the things that are most important in our lives as Jesus taught us in the last two Gospels.  Today, He finishes it off teaching us that we are the most precious thing in God’s eyes.  He made us and cares for us very much.  He will not abandon us, but we abandon Him.  We must stop worrying about this or that. The problem is that the Original Sin gives us a warped view of this loving Creator.  We believe God wants to take away our fun.  We don’t want to change and we continue to live in misery or we trust in God completely and we just try to change in fits and short little struggles.  We have so many distractions in our minds and then add life and electronics on top of that and we struggle making room for God.  We must be a truly repentant sinner and put on the armor of God, what a difficult task!  We cannot serve God and things or money.  I continue to live with an unresolute heart, God send your grace upon me to have a more resolute heart and trust in you.

Today’s challenge: Reflect on areas of your life that cause more distractions that are leading you away from God.  Start another Total Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and rededicate yourself to living more dedicated to Jesus with the help of Mary in your life.  St. Louis de Montfort has one and Fr. Michael Gaitley 33 Days to Morning Glory.

Be a servant, become a saint!
