Jn 3:16

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so everyone who believes in Him may not perish, but might have eternal life.”

“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

Jn 3:17

“the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil.”

Jn 3:19

“whoever lives the truth comes to the light”

Jn 3:21

Today’s Gospel is many sports’ fans favorite Bible verse. They put it on posters and take it to games in hope that the camera will show them on TV. How cool would it be if we made this poster and carried it everywhere we went so we could explain to everyone who asked us that God gave us His Son to save us.

God does not condemn us, we do. Jesus asks Mary if anyone condemned her after Jesus tells them to throw the first stone if they have not sinned. Jesus then says, “I do not condemn you either.”

God is love and mercy. He infinitely gives it. We cut ourselves off from God by our own free choice, He is constantly loving. He showed the greatest act of love by giving us His Son. A self-gift, permanent, a decision based on knowledge, and life giving-TRUE LOVE !

The word that sticks out most to me today is MIGHT. John tells us we might have eternal life if we choose to believe and love God with our whole heart (not half), mind, soul, and strength. It is our choice, but we MIGHT not have eternal life if we don ‘t choose wisely.

Jesus is the light, but we often follow our fallen human nature and fall to the Devil’s temptations. The saints see through the darkness. Fight the darkness with prayer, fasting, and good works.

In Acts of the Apostles, the Apostles are preaching Jesus and getting arrested. Angels come and free them from prison. The Jews are so frustrated right now. The Early Church is on fire! We must keep it on fire today!

Today, don’t allow your fallen human nature or the temptation of the Devil to steal your joy of the resurrection. Fight! Keep the power of the cross alive! Put the strength of your 40 days of fasting to the test!

Become a saint!
