Jesus is still speaking to Nicodemus in the middle of the night telling him who He is. Nicodemus is a high ranking Jew and one who actually believes Jesus could be the Messiah the Jews are waiting for. Jesus continues to teach us that He is God and the Father has given Him everything. He also says very strong words about the afterlife. We have to believe in the Son to enter eternal life.
“The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to Him. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.” Jn 3:31-36
