Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Jesus spoke to them again, saying,
“I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”
So the Pharisees said to him,
“You testify on your own behalf,
so your testimony cannot be verified.”
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Even if I do testify on my own behalf, my testimony can be verified,
because I know where I came from and where I am going.
But you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone.
And even if I should judge, my judgment is valid,
because I am not alone,
but it is I and the Father who sent me.
Even in your law it is written
that the testimony of two men can be verified.
I testify on my behalf and so does the Father who sent me.”
So they said to him, “Where is your father?”
Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father.
If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”
He spoke these words
while teaching in the treasury in the temple area.
But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come. JN 8:12-20
Last week on two or three occasions and again today, Jesus tells us, “I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me”. The Pharisees finally ask, “Where is your father?” Of course, they are thinking in human terms as we all are. If Jesus was speaking these words to me, I would think He was crazy because I am human and did not understand. After the Resurrection, with God’s grace and the Holy Spirit, wisdom and understanding of the Truth can abound and we can understand He is talking about God, the Father, the only God. Jesus is one with Him, proof of the Trinity again.
Jesus says, ““I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” What would happen if we had no light? Nothing would grow, without Christ we can not even be born again in Baptism, let alone grow in Christ. Crime would increase, it would be much harder to fight crime. We would not be able to see where we were going, Christ gives us direction and purpose. Most importantly, we would cease to exist, nothing can survive without light. Christ gives us life, purpose, direction, and hope. At times we will walk in the “dark valley” like Psalm 23 says, but with the light of the world, Christ, we will “fear no evil, for you are at my side”. Our joy of Jesus Christ’s resurrection cannot be taken away unless we let it be taken away no matter how bad life gets. Don’t allow the devil to steal your joy. He is darkness. Come to the light, Jesus Christ and live!
Today’s challenge: If you are in darkness, repent, go to confession and come to the light, Jesus Christ. He is waiting for you. If you are in the light, share it!
Christian YOLO-If You Only Live Once, do it right living like Christ
Christian YODO-You Only Die Once, no second chances in eternal life, live like Christ with a resolute heart today, there is no time to waste, death comes to all and we cannot control when that is, God does
Be a servant, become a saint!
What I think this is saying is that who ever believes in him and follows him will live with him forever in Heaven. If you follow him you will have eternal life and live with the God the Father forever. This the point of life. To live with God forever and ever. Its the best thing any human could ever do.
jesus is the light and life is darkness so i need to find light so when it is time without darkness i can ascend up with jesus.
What I got from this Gospel is that we need to let Jesus guide us in the right direction and give everything to Him. If we do this then we will get closer and closer to Heaven.
You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone. This line in the Gospel really sticks out to me, because I often judge people a lot and it is something that hurts inside and hurts other people. I need to be more like God and follow him and his testimonies like it says in the Gospel and stop judging others.
I am the light of the world.Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” We need to put all of our faith in Jesus. Because he is the son of God, and if we put everything we have in him our sin, failure, even the good things. And if we do this then we will be truly happy. And we will never walk in darkness again.
Jesus is the light of the world and a lot of times I am really not good at this. So I have to tell Jesus, Jesus take the wheel take it from my hands. I have to tell myself I can’t do this on my own. So then I let go, please give me one more chance. Help save me from this road that I am on. Jesus take the wheel.
Today, Jesus is telling us about himself. How he is the light of the world, how he is one with the Father who sent him. He is the one who will save us. He is one who is the christ
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. This scripture is saying that we need t full commit to God and live our lives through him. He is always there for us and loves us so much, we just have to open our eyes and see.
If you follow the light/good, you will find true happiness and joy. God brings this for us because He wants us to be fulfilled in His will.
“I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge by appearances, but I do not judge anyone. And even if I should judge, my judgment is valid, because I am not alone.” In today’s gospel is justifying his own testimony, he knows where the path ends, he is not blind, so we can follow him, if we follow someone else who is blind we can not know where we are going, but is we follow Christ, we know where we are going, because he know where he is going.
Today Jesus says “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” This tells us that you can’t know just Jesus or God, they are one in the same so you know both. There is no teaching where God and Jesus disagree so you can’t pick just one to follow. We know that Jesus is truly from God because everything from the Old Testament and the New Testament go hand in hand.
We often think that we will be happy when we get everything we want and everything goes our way. That’s just not the case. The only way to be truly happy is to fall in love with Jesus Christ and go to Heaven with Him for eternity. That can be very hard to achieve, but it’s definetly possible, anything is posssible with Christ on our side.
“If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” We can grow to know the Father by first knowing Jesus. We can grow closer to Jesus by receiving the Eucharist. By growing closer to Jesus we are growing closer to our heavenly father.
Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” When we follow Jesus, we need to remember that Jesus is always with us even through the hardships.
Jesus states that if we follow him we will be in the light. This means that if we follow him and do everything that he tells us to (not to sin, follow the commandments, ect.). If we follow them we will be in the light or heaven. If we don’t follow them we will be in the darkness.
Jesus is, once again, talking about how we must get to heaven, and no one believes him. They try to arrest him, but they cannot lay a hand on him. Jesus is telling us how to live: “Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.” Follow Jesus! This is what we must do!
The phrase that stuck out to me was, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Jesus is saying that wherever follows Him will be happy in the end and will have the faith and strength of the Lord. He’s not saying you won’t have troubles when he talks about darkness, but that you will get through life through Him on earth well if you follow Him.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” This tells me that Jesus is the Greatest Person ever and he is saying that if we follow Jesus we won’t be alone but we will have Jesus walk with us through our life.
What this scripture reflection says to me is that we all need to try not to judge others, because then we all will be judged ourselves.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness.” This is a great reason for us to go to church and spend time with Jesus. When we are in our own darkness he is there to be our light.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is saying that we should believe in Him and His choices and not doubt Him. We shouldn’t judge by appearances because we know nothing about them. Don’t doubt in Jesus, for He knows what He is going to do while we do not know His plans.
When the scripture said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness.” This tells me that if you do what God proclaims he will show you the light. God will always lead his people to heaven and wants you to be good. The only person who changes that is yourself when you listen to the devil.
This scripture is informing us that God is all good nothing is better than him he is the creator of all.And if you stray away from him you will be in the darkness forever or hell forever.
In todays gospel god is telling me that we need to follow Him wherever we go. If we do not follow Him we will not see or know where we are going. its like walking in a cave without any light, you never know if you are going to drop and fall or keep going foreword. With God though, we will see where we are going. So if you take the cave scenario, you will see all of everywhere and know where you are going at all times. It also makes you safe from danger.
I think this is saying that Jesus is our hope of the world, and our hope for salvation. Without his existence, we would be absolutely nothing, and none of us would exist; nothing would exist. Jesus leads us into the right path, even if sometimes we don’t see it, hear it, or feel it. He’s our entire lives so we should be worshiping him, and listening to him, waiting for him.
“You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” If you are close to Jesus, you will be close to God. Follow Jesus’ teachings, and you will follow God. If you are made in Jesus’ image, you are made in God’s. Jesus tells us that he is one with God. His Father sent him to Earth so that we can be saved. Jesus has said multiple times that whatever he does the Father agrees with.
We need to belief Jesus will save us from sin.
“Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” We need to believe in Jesus and then we will be helped. It is such a simple thing considering everything He has done for us.
God sent Jesus to earth to fulfill and spread God’s Word. God sent Jesus to us to live and die for our sins. One thing that my dad brought up to me was that Jesus fell three times while carrying the cross. Wouldn’t we believe that Jesus didn’t fall because he has the power of God on his side? But maybe he fell three times because the weight of the world’s sins were too heavy for Jesus to carry and so he fell three times and had help from Simon.
The Pharisees tried so much to get him arrested. Jesus said that no matter what they do they cannot have him arrested until his time to die has come. No matter what we do to get Jesus out of our lives, we can’t do it, because he is our light in our world.
In the scripture it says “You judge by appearances but I do not Judge” we should never judge anyone because God made everyone in their own way. God loves everyone the way they are and so should we, we don’t have the right to judge just because you don’t think someone is pretty or they aren’t wearing a cute outfit. You should always love everyone in the same way.
What I took from this gospel is that we can always relay on God if we need help. We can trust in him to guide us, lead us into light, and to love us. He will always love us no matter what we do, and we have to be thankful for that. God has been with us since day one, and will continue to stay with us for the rest of our live. He is the most reliable person we can trust, and we have to believe that he is. He is there. He will guide us to holiness if he let him take the wheel.
You should not judge anyone by the way they look and you should always listen to their side of anything.
I think this scripture is saying that “I am the Light in everyone and whoever follows me will not be in darkness but will have the light o the world” This means that God brings out the joy and goodness in people. Choosing to love God will always be our best choice.
This shows us that God knows where he’s going and where we are going. This also shows us that we need to trust him.
Who ever follows Jesus will never be left alone in the darkness again. Jesus is the way and the light. If you are ever alone pray to God and all will be better.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” God wants us to stay in the light and pray to him everyday. He doesn’t want us to fall in the dark where the devil is. God is strong and almighty and so the dark but the dark is easy to fall into.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us if we follow in his footsteps we will be out of the darkness and away from the devil.
To me this means that God is speaking to us specifically telling us that he is the light of the world or The One living God. Any people out their that say they are God and Crazy people and or people who are lying to us.
What I got from this Gospel is that Jesus says “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness.” This stuck out to me because WE the people need to follow Jesus because He is the light of the world. If WE the people follow Him then Eternal greatness will come and we will always have a light shining above us. WE are never alone.
Sometimes I think of Jesus and God as two completely different people. But I need to start thinking of them as one. God didn’t just create Jesus, send Him to Earth, have Him die, and then just absorb Jesus into Himself when Jesus Ascended. Jesus isn’t gone. Like God He’s everywhere. He never left us.
I think that this is telling me if I choose to follow God then I will have eternal happiness with Him in Heaven forever. If I choose not to follow the will He has given to me, I will live in darkness, and sadness for the rest of my life.
This scripture is telling me to follow Jesus. For when we follow Jesus we are not in the dark and we have him on our side. Jesus knows who we are and where we came from so he helps us and verifies our argument.
We are in darkness and Jesus is our light. He tells the Pharisees that His Father is waiting for us in heaven. They doubt that Jesus says who He really is. He tells them, “it is I and the Father who sent me.”
Jesus today speaks of His Father. Not of Joseph, His worldly father, but of The Father. Jesus is God. And He is saying that today. I am the Light of the World. If you follow me you will not walk in darkness but light. And Jesus is Truth. So that means that we will have eternal life if we follow Him. Be in the light, no the darkness. Follow Jesus who follows the Father.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” If we follow and trust in God, he will lead us to heaven. If we choose our own paths, we walk away from the path and follow in the devil’s temptations. I need to pray to God more to help guide me.
If we truly take the time to know God and be with Him then it will show. If we truly put our lives into His hands then we don’t have to worry because he’ll always be there to protect us.
Today’s Scripture passage is saying that He is waiting for us to come to Him and trust in Him. We need to come out of the darkness in order to be with Jesus and have eternal life Him. When your with Jesus don’t ever let the Devil tempt you and pull you away from God. We need to understand and have faith in the Word of God because it will tell you everything you need to know.
How can a person in a dark and empty room hide from a person holding a candle? If they can’t, than how can we hide from the Father, who made all and knows all? For even the darkest places are radiant in His sight. What have we to hide from Him? If we hide every scar we have, how can we know what is not hidden? There is nothing that is hidden that will not be revealed on the final day.
Jesus makes it so perfectly clear to us that He is God. Some of us are choosing not to believe him. This is the living God that came down from Heaven to save us from our sins. If we aren’t going to believe that, then we are not living the Catholic life that will get us to Heaven. We are disappointing God. God teaches us to have faith, teaches us how to love. God is love, and if we follow in His footsteps in all the steps of His life, we will learn how to love. He wants us to know, and He tries to help us, but He gave us free will. The final decision is up to us.
God sent Jesus to die for our sins and he did. Jesus did the will not for himself, but for his father.
“I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. he is the light in the darkens when times get dark we can turn to him for his light. his light will show the way and it will Gide you to the right path all you have to do is ask.
Once again Jesus is showing us he has been sent by the father. Jesus is the way to God but we need to believe his testimony because his testimony has been verified by God. This is true, because Jesus is one with The Father and The Father is one with him.
