Today, Jesus tells us that He knows we are sinners and He has come to save us.  There are usually two types of thinking about sin that people hold onto.  They either worry about it too much and make it the most important thing in their life always setting themselves up for failure and sadness and may eventually give up or those who don’t care about sin and never repent.  We have a conscience and it must be formed correctly through knowledge and frequent confession.  If we do not know whether something is a sin we must ask a priest.  We must learn to lose as Christians, we have inherited a fallen human nature (original, mortal and venial).  This is why need a Savior!  The Devil is an angel and very intelligent.  He can deceive us very easily if we do not spend time in prayer and live a sacramental life.  He is very good at distracting us from God with electronics or entertaining ourselves to death.  Today, Jesus brings us more Good News!  ”I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”  Lk 5:32  That would be every human being that has ever been born.  We are all in the same battle.  So, how does Jesus want us to fight?
1. Pray
2. Read Scriptures and teachings of the Catholic Church
3. Fast
4. Allow Him to love us
5. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives
6. Take care of those we have been entrusted to and go above and beyond by helping those who are in need (Corporeal Works of Mercy)

Then, instead of worrying ourselves to death about sin (He will always forgive), recognizing our sinfulness, humble ourselves, repent, get back up and fight, then He will give us the grace we need to avoid the near occasion of sin, our fallen human nature, and the temptations of the Devil.  When we accept God’s love then we can love.  This is the greatest gift God has given us to fight sin, love!
