Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” Lk 12: 49-53

Today, I think of all of the K-State vs. KU House Divided paraphernalia.  I think Jesus is talking about something a bit deeper for our spiritual lives today.  Jesus’s baptism is his death.  His mission: reconcile God the Father with His creation of souls.  He was not here to make friends or enemies.  He was here to reveal to us God’ plan for salvation.  Jesus teaches us today that His Words may divide us among those who are the closest to us.  His Word might divide us.  May we listen to His Word and take it to heart and reflect on it.  The person that complains that God never says anything to them is not reading the Scriptures and reflecting on them.  They are not sitting in silence and listening.  God’s Word is always fully alive, God is alive in us through the Holy Spirit, and Jesus is fully alive hidden behind a piece of bread.  Listen, Act, Speak if necessary!

 Today’s challenge: Learn something new about Jesus and make it a habit starting today to read the Mass readings or a spiritual book.  Pray at the same time in the same place every day.
