“YET I DID NOT COME ON MY OWN, BUT THE ONE WHO SENT ME, WHOM YOU DO NOT KNOW, IS TRUE.” JN 7:1-2, 10, 25-30
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
The wicked said among themselves,
thinking not aright:
“Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us;
he sets himself against our doings,
Reproaches us for transgressions of the law
and charges us with violations of our training.
He professes to have knowledge of God
and styles himself a child of the LORD.
To us he is the censure of our thoughts;
merely to see him is a hardship for us,
Because his life is not like that of others,
and different are his ways.
He judges us debased;
he holds aloof from our paths as from things impure.
He calls blest the destiny of the just
and boasts that God is his Father.
Let us see whether his words be true;
let us find out what will happen to him.
For if the just one be the son of God, he will defend him
and deliver him from the hand of his foes.
With revilement and torture let us put him to the test
that we may have proof of his gentleness
and try his patience.
Let us condemn him to a shameful death;
for according to his own words, God will take care of him.”
These were their thoughts, but they erred;
for their wickedness blinded them,
and they knew not the hidden counsels of God;
neither did they count on a recompense of holiness
nor discern the innocent souls’ reward. WIS 2:1, 12-22
Jesus moved about within Galilee;
he did not wish to travel in Judea,
because the Jews were trying to kill him.
But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast,
he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.
Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said,
“Is he not the one they are trying to kill?
And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him.
Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ?
But we know where he is from.
When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”
So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said,
“You know me and also know where I am from.
Yet I did not come on my own,
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.
I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”
So they tried to arrest him,
but no one laid a hand upon him,
because his hour had not yet come. JN 7:1-2, 10, 25-30
Jesus, let us not allow our wickedness to blind us and our thoughts to err. Sometimes, we do not open our hearts to the Lord because we do not want to change and we want to be in control or we falsely believe we are in control. We know very well who Jesus is and where He is from. We have read the Scriptures many times. Jesus, send us your grace to read the Scriptures on our own and reflect on them to develop a personal relationship with you. “Now is the time of salvation”. 2 Cor 6:2
Lord, help us to be wise and change our ways. May we recognize our sin for what it is and stop denying it. Help us to become weak before you so we will open our hearts and allow the Light to enter and make us strong, your grace (God’s life in us). Teach us the Truths that the Father sent you to tell us, so that we may change and become holy and have eternal life. Amen.
Today’s challenge: Don’t allow yourself to be blind and err. Allow Jesus the Light of the world into your heart. Deny yourself and follow Christ. Take time to get to know Jesus, what He said, and what He did for us. The rewards are eternal!
Be a servant, become a saint!

What ways do the wicked err in judging the just, the Truth, the Son of Man?
Why did the Jews want to persecute Jesus?
What is the Feast of Tabernacles?
What is Jesus trying to teach me today?
How can I apply this to my life?
This phrase stuck out to me: “With revilement and torture let us put him to the test that we may have proof of his gentleness and try his patience.” I think this is kind of cool because it says they will put Jesus to the test, which is exactly what the Devil did to Jesus in the desert. They were trying to make Him break. We shouldn’t test God, or His patience.
The Scripture today is telling us I think not to judge or be rude to others. Also we cannot judge one another just based off their looks. We have to be nice and inviting to everyone.
The wicked are like the devil trying to lead you off of the target to Heaven and we need to fight to stay on the path to Holiness. The wicked in this scripture try to bring the just man into their little group and try to convert him out of Catholicism. Instead of us trying to get things we want all the time we need to try to help people and sacrifice a little more for them and God.
The just man will do what is right, even if the people around him think he is wrong. He stays with God and pictures himself as a child of God, while the rest are wicked.
