Prayer Prompt before reading LK 5:1-11 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID; FROM NOW ON YOU WILL BE CATCHING MEN.” LK 5:1-11
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today, Jesus calls his disciples to follow Him. This will require change in their lives. Peter was married. They had a full time job as fisherman and the others had other trades. Today, in this Scripture passage, Jesus is calling you to follow Him. If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation.
Ask Him if you are to be married and start praying for your future spouse. We are all called to be followers of Jesus, disciples. You have a choice to make; God’s grace is waiting to be given to you everyday. He is chasing after you to bring you back to Him.
Today, Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. There will be sorrow and sacrifice, too. Just ask Mary, His mother. Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness. It requires swallowing one’s pride. Jesus does not care where you are at in your spiritual life, today He is calling you to follow Him. “Be not afraid!”
Today’s challenge: Don’t worry about how much of a sinner you are, allow Jesus into your heart. He will slowly transform you. ”Be not afraid!”
Be a servant, become a saint!

Today’s Gospel reminded me that God is all knowing and nobody can “outsmart” Him. “God catches the wise in their own ruses,” kinda helped me support that. I’m thankful for all that God has given me and I won’t ever be able to repay Him.
Jesus commands Simon to do something that defies professional logic, launch back out into deep water during the day. Knowing how tired Siomin is, Simon chooses faith over logic, saying, but at your command I will lower the nets.
I think that what stuck out to me was that the quote “follow me and you will be catchers of men” was really cool.
In today’s Gospel Jesus tells his disciples to not be afraid. He also tells them to follow him and listen to him. We need to be like the disciples and follow and obey Jesus like we would obey our Mom and Dad. He is our Heavenly Father and will help us any time.
what I got out of this gospel is that the haven’t cought any fish but when Jesus told them to lower the net back into the water and pick it up. they got many of fish. what this means to me is that the lord knows what’s good and what not and we should listen to him and put him first.
What stuck out to me from todays scripture was “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” It stuck out to me because it tells me that we all sin and we all make mistakes.We know what is wrong and we do it.We go to confession to confess our sins to be freed of our sins.This gospel reminds me of forgive me Father for I have sinned.When Peter asks God to forgive him of his sins.”Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”When they brought their boats to the shore,When they brought their boats to the shore.
The thing that stuck out to me from this gospel was when it said, “They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.” This means to me that God has more than enough grace to fill us up and help us throughout our life. And it doesn’t matter how sinful or wrong we feel that we are; God will always help us and inspire us to do better.
Jesus is teaching a crowd from Simon’s boat and then tells the fishermen to drop their nets into deep water one more time. Even though it makes no sense, Simon trusts Jesus, resulting in a catch of fish so massive that it nearly sinks two boats. Overwhelmed by this divine power, Simon and his partners choose to leave everything behind to follow Jesus and help “catch” people for God instead.
The thing that stuck out to me was what Jesus said, the- you will be catching men. he’s basically saying that they will help him get more people to heaven, kinda like a foreshadowing for when Peter becomes pope I think. because when your pope its kinda your job/ goal to convert people to Christianity, and if god is making them fishers of men, it means he wants Peter to help him help other people believe.
In todays gospel Jesus says “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” That mean that even when you think it won’t work believe in God and he will do the rest.
“When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.” Simon and his fishing partners dropped their way of making money and having good food and somewhat good health to follow Jesus. That just really stood with me they dropped everything to be with Jesus and God.
What I took from the gospel is to never doubt Jesus. Do everything he tells you to do. Always trust in him and everything will be good.
In todays Gospel, Jesus tells Simon to cast his nets again. Basically telling him to have faith in his word. When he did have faith good things came up on him. Jesus also give Simon his vocation. Having faith in God leads to many great fruits in our lives.
He is chasing after you to bring you back to Him. No matter how great a sin we commit God will always forgive us. He wants us to be with Him. Even if we renounce Him and worship the devil he’ll still want you back. God is so kind and forgiving.
In todays gospel Peter says “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” yet Jesus does not leave. He stays. Jesus stays with us too when we sin. This does not mean that we get off free with sinning. We still have to go to confession and repent for our sins. This Just shows that Jesus will not turn us away when we sin.

Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
That stood out to me because our whole purpose in life is to go to Heaven. Jesus showed them a miracle and they trusted him. We need to trust in God so we can get to Heaven.
I think put into deep water stuck out to me
The thing that stuck out to me was when Jesus was implying to just trust him and good things will happen.
I really like the one that says “you have a choice to make; Gods grace is waiting to be given to you every day. He is chasing after you to bring you back to him.”
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” that quote stuck out to me because after he put the net back out he caught a lot of fish. What it means to me is that I should listen.
Something that really caught my attention is “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,
but at your command I will lower the nets.” And this just tells me that to trust God because he knows what he is doing. And this verse to stuck out to me “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” and It tells me to gather people and bring them to the Lord.

I think when it said to put into deep water. it really stuck out to me kinda saying to take chances live life and praise God. I also think it was very meaningful like saying you have to actually put forth effort to truly know me
Jesus was trying to tell me that I need to listen to the Lord and follow him wherever he wants me to go. I know this because he wanted the sinner Simon to follow the Lord.
What stuck with me was when Jesus said “Do not be afraid” because I know that if I am afraid or struggling I can rely on God to help me get through it. I know that I should’t be afraid because God is always with me.
One quote that stuck out to me was they, “left everything and followed him.” It stuck out to me because they knew that Jesus would lead them to the right place without any other directions. Also, shows that they will leave everything just to follow the Lord.
Jesus was trying to tell me that I need to listen to the Lord and follow him wherever he wants me to go. I know this because he wanted the sinner Simon to follow the Lord. He wanted Simon to follow him so that he can learn more about the gospel.

I like the verse “Put out into deep waters and lower your nets for a catch” because what the verse is saying to me is go and go far in you life and never stop. I think it is saying that to me because I need to be more confident not get scared when I do stuff.
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing.” If something isn’t working but God tells us to do it, listen. They knew they had nothing but still listened to him and we need to do the same.
There has always been this one scripture in this gospel that always stood out to me was this Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” I don’t really know why it stands out to me but this has always been my favorite gosple.

If we do we will go to heaven.
In today’s gospel Jesus said “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” In this He is saying that from then on they will follow Him as His disciples. One of my favorite lines from the bible is “Do not be Afraid”. Jesus helped them out a lot like we should.
I think this gospel is telling us that when we do something that God tells us to do it will help us in life.
In today’s gospel even though they had been out for hours and caught nothing, and yet when Jesus told them to lower their nets once more they listened. we must so listen to God when he calls out to us to listen and follow him, and like the disciples we will prosper in Gods love.
“Do not be afraid.” No matter the struggles we face and the burdens we carry God is with us through it all and He’s offering His help.
“Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness.” You and your future spouse won’t ever be perfect together. You have to work together to get through your hardships. It’s the same with God, you have to give up your time to him and work to get through your hardships.
The gospel today talks about not worrying how much of a sinner you are and to allow Jesus into your heart and he will transform you to a better version of yourself. Also follow Jesus and he will show you the path and way. Ask for future advice so he can lead you through the hard times and that he can help you even when things get bad.
Whenever you need help, Jesus is always there. God will always help you, he made you for a reason. When your hungry he’ll help feed you, when your thirsty he’ll give you a drink, he is ALWAYS there for us. In today’s scripture reflection he helps the men catch fish to feed everyone, that shows you proof. When you are doubting your worth, and your work, God will show you that you are worth it and all the hard work you put in mattered.
God has a plan for all of us. We should pray to him and ask him what he wants from us so we can carry out his will.

In today’s Gospel, it talks about how the disciples were fishing and couldn’t catch anything, but then Jesus showed up and told them to cast and they did and their net was filled to the very brim. In my opinion this is one of the greatest stories in the Bible because it showed us that with God we can do anything and with our him we are just another regular human being. So we NEED Jesus.
This Gospel reminds me of the wooden splinter parable when I hear this. First I process it in my brain and think about how Simon Peter will go out and catch men like we are called to do. Then I think of the parable where it says you must remove the wooden beam from your own eye before you can remove the splinter from your brother’s eye. So for a takeaway evanglizing is good but we must take up our crosses and follow him while doing so so we can see clearly when reeling in men.

In the Gospel today, people were listening to Jesus speaking the word of God. Then Jesus noticed two boats by the lake and went over to them. They said they have been fishing all night but hadn’t caught anything. Jesus said to put their net in the water, and so they did. When they did that, they caught a big number of fish and they were thanking Jesus. They got back to shore and left everything and followed Jesus. This shows that we should always have trust in God and God will always do good.
Leave everything behind and follow him he is the light leave your darkness leave your sin leave you guilt and follow him have faith in him and he will help you live to be like him be strong and coragoes and be the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!!!
Jesus today wants people to do what is good even if they don’t want to or don’t think that will do anything when Peter told Jesus that we haven’t catched anything for night and day Jesus just said to after a while he did and they got loads of fish. We need to follow Jesus even if we don’t think its right. Jesus will always forgive us.
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” Stuck out to me telling me God always has a plan for me and even if we don’t believe him something good will always happen. Jesus always has a plan for us and he will guide us in the correct was.

It also means that if you live your life with hate sorrow and loving nothing you will not make it to have so be nice to people and be loving to make it to heaven.
Today’s gospel basically said ask and you shall receive. When we put our faith in Jesus He will provide and He will always help you whenever you are in need. By repenting our sins we are giving back to Him. Put your faith in Jesus and He will never fail you.
The Gospel is saying to trust in God and in his works. God knows what he is doing and he guides us on our path he has made for us. If you listen to what God is telling you, great things can be accomplished.
We must trust God and we will be rewarded. We should be better than Simon, though. We should trust God without doubting him. If we do as he says we will be rewarded with eternal life. We must go deep. We must throw our hearts out to God and let him pull us in to Heaven with him. We must blindly give ourselves to him so he can give himself to us.
In today’s Gospel Jesus calls Simon, Andrew, John and James. He calls them in a great way while there fishing and ask them to follow him for they will be fishers of men. I really like this line because Jesus calls us all in different ways but we are all called. some of us are called in similar ways like the 4 disciples. But really it’s about if we have the faith and strength to leave everything behind and follow him; and to trust in him.

In the gospel I just realized that Jesus is getting too much pressure that he needs some space. this just reminded me how he is still human. Also in the gospel Peter acknowledges that he is a sinful man and that Jesus should stay away from him but no, Jesus he forgave him and told him to come join him. He said that they would be fishers of man in other words they will spread the word of God everywhere And gain many disciples. And I say this because sometimes we need to be fishers of man we Need to spread the word of God and try to get people to join the church. I
God told them to go out and Simon they have not caught anything all day. Simon chose to listen to him and they caught a great amount of fish.
in today’s gospel about the fisherman. When they are by themselves (without Jesus) they catch nothing. They’re business is failing, Jesus approaches them (maybe a friend or something introduces you to The Lord) and when he does and they listen he says “cast out your nets”. They do not listen first (being skeptical about the faith) “we have fished all day and night and have not caught a single fish” (they are missing something). Jesus says again “cast out your nets for the fish will gather there” this time they listen to him (accepting the faith). When they pull the net back in it is so heavy (fruits of the holy spirit) that they have to get help to pull it into their ship again. then Jesus says “you shall now be fishers of men”. they left everything and followed him. I think this gospel its really talking about someone who is lost finding their way back to God, the men’s lives were unfruitful and tiring. when Jesus was introduced to them they were skeptical but listened and when they did their life became so fruitful. #YODO
The thing that stuck out to me in this Gospel was at the end where it says “they left everything, and they followed him” I think it was a symbol or a indicator for the idea of that you give everything away and pay attention to God.
Jesus responds to Peter’s fear with mercy and a new purpose, calling him to catch men rather than fish. The disciples then leave their livelihood behind. When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him. This act represents the ultimate Christian vocation- To letting go of worldly securities to follow Christ into an uncertain future. Through God anything is possible and we must believe in Him for only He has eternal life.

Because sometimes I do feel scared and afraid and why because Jesus was telling his men to trust .
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Is what stuck out to me.
On thing that stood out to me was when Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” I like that the faith in the world will keep getting bigger until everyone believes and he comes back to save us all from sin and the devil. Also “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” It shows that I need to get closer to the Lord and put full faith . Simon said they haven’t caught anything but it was Jesus so Simon since he loved and trusted Jesus and loads of fish so that I need to walk and trust him no matter what.

I always love to reread the fishing story its probably one of my favorite stories from the gospel
A part that stuck out to me was that when Jesus told them to lower their nets, they caught such a great amount that their nets were tearing. I remember in one homily on this gospel and feeding the 5,000 that Jesus always provides abundantly. We sometimes think that Jesus can’t even do this, our provide this for us, but all we have to do is be patient and obey his order, and he will provide.
in today’s gospel it said “depart from me lord for I am a sinful man”, that stuck out to me because sometimes after I sin I feel guilty so I pray and say things to God like that (but with worse grammar). 😛

i felt like God was saying to me that if I listen to him great things will be done to me. because in today gospel he told Simon and Peter to cast out in deeper water they caught more and then they fell to their knees and said “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man” I really felt like that stuck out to me.
Something that stuck out to me was “For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him”. I don’t know why it stuck out to me, it just did.

My favorite story is the birth of Christ because it the birth of the son of god
One thing that stuck out to me is that Gods love is overflowing. Just like how the people who where fishing their nets where overflowing with fish I think Jesus told them to throw there nets into a curtain spot. I also like how the apostles did what he told them to do because they believed in him and his words he was saying.
