“LORD, I AM NOT WORTHY TO HAVE YOU ENTER UNDER MY ROOF; ONLY SAY THE WORD AND MY SERVANT WILL BE HEALED.” MT 8:5-11
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
When Jesus entered Capernaum,
a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying,
“Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.”
He said to him, “I will come and cure him.”
The centurion said in reply,
“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
only say the word and my servant will be healed.
For I too am a man subject to authority,
with soldiers subject to me.
And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes;
and to another, ‘Come here,’ and he comes;
and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him,
“Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith.
I say to you, many will come from the east and the west,
and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven.” MT 8:5-11
It is an amazing thought to try and wrap our minds around the idea that God became Man, instituted the Eucharist and priesthood, died, resurrected and stays with us in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I am going to receive Jesus Christ, body, blood, soul, and divinity today. Amazing! God is going to bring me back in time to witness Christ dying on the cross with Mary, John, and Mary Magdalene at the foot of the cross. We must prepare ourselves for this amazing spiritual journey.
Today, a great lesson can be taken from the Roman centurion, humility and recognizing God for who He really is. Approaching God takes a proper mindset. We must approach God realizing we are sinners and need His mercy (the introductory rite of the Mass does this, pay attention). God then comes to us in the Word. Take time this Advent to sit in silence, turn off the screen time, and listen to what God, your Creator is saying to you. Jesus then becomes present through consecration of bread and wine. Fully alive, fully present, we are not receiving a dead object but a living person. —Vinney Flynn
Then, we say the words of the Roman centurion, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; but only say the word and my servant (my soul) will be healed.” May our faith increase this Advent to match that of the Roman centurion. He believed that Jesus could heal just by His words without touch. Do you have that much faith?
Today’s challenge: Learn to be still and make it a habit this Advent so you can carry it with you throughout the year. Listen in the silence so you may be prepared for the Coming of Christ. Take time this week to be humble, ask God for His mercy in confession, and recognize that every time you go to Mass or Adoration, in each person you meet, in the Scriptures, in nature, in your conscience, in your heart you encounter God.
Be a servant, be a saint today!

It sounds like part of the consecration.And the consecration is very important part of Mass.“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
only say the word and my servant will be healed.”
Amen, I say to you
Jesus did die but he also rose again from the dead so even though he is not down with us he is with us in scripture. We must prepare ourselves for this amazing spiritual journey.There will be a second coming of Jesus which we have to be prepared for.We have to prepare for Jesus coming (Christmas).
Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. Is reminding us that we are not worthy , but that he can and will do anything we need. Even if not in the way we intended it.
The scripture said “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof”. To me that said we are never good enough/ we could always do better for Jesus. We are not perfect we always make mistakes and Jesus forgives them. God sacrificed his only son to come and save us, we need to remember that.
When it says “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; but only say the word and my servant (my soul) will be healed.”, it means that none of us are worthy of God’s love for us. We sin daily even though Jesus died for us so we wouldn’t have to suffer as badly. That shows His love for us and how much he would do for us. We should repay Him with way better treatment than we are giving Him right now.
“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
only say the word and my servant will be healed.
For I too am a man subject to authority,
with soldiers subject to me.
And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes;
and to another, ‘Come here,’ and he comes;
and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” This stuck out to me because it shows that Jesus has the power to heal with just his words. Anybody can be faithful to Jesus, and Jesus will answer them.
Something that stuck out to me was how much faith the centurion had, and how humble he was. He is a person that is very important to the Romans, he wasn’t a Jew, he didn’t believe in God, but he believed enough to go up and ask a person that looked like a normal person, come and heal his servant, and this shows that faith is everything in our religion.
You need to be still with Christ. When you are still and silent it helps to hear the Lord. You need to be in a state of peace and grace. The Lord will speak to you if you listen.
God sent his only son(Jesus) down to earth to become Man. Jesus became a Man to save us. That shows how much God loves us. He sent his only son(Jesus) to become Man and to get beaten up, nailed to the cross, and to die on the cross. God loves us so much, we need to love him back like he loves us.
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof; but only say the word and my servant shall be healed. This stuck out to me because this is what we say before getting Communion, instead of servant we say soul though. It amazed Jesus that this man had such faith in Jesus. Jesus says that he has never seen such faith in ALL of Israel. This man is an amazing role model for us. He had so much faith in Jesus to heal his servant; we should have that much faith for Jesus when he heals our soul.
In this gospel, it states about faith. Normally people don’t have much faith, but have a lot depending on their emotions. God is changing reality. He will heal you if you are sick, sad, or if anything bad has happened to you. We should be spending time with Jesus and praying to Him, thanking Him for everything He’s done. By having faith, we will be greeted by all the saints and angels in heaven, guiding us into His heavenly kingdom.
Today we hear about this humble man who accepted that he needed Jesus’ help to heal his servant. He tells Jesus, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” We say this line in Mass, before we recieve the Eucharist, to remind ourselves that we are all sinners who need God every day. So that we remember to humble ourselves.
This is an amazing passage because it shows how we need to notice Jesus. The fact Jesus sent down from heaven to suffer just to save us shows how great he is. Jesus is proud when we follow him like he was amazed when the others did what Jesus said. We need to notice Jesus more because he was willing to do so much for us.
A thing that stuck out to me was the fact that Jesus was amazed by the man’s faith. This stood out to me because shouldn’t Jesus know how much faith someone has since a little bit of him is inside you. The man asked God for help even though he didn’t believe in one true God. Then the man said no don’t come because I’m not worthy to have you come into my house. This is weird to me because no matter what you’re never too bad for God to love you. Then the man said just say the word and he shall be healed. This also stuck out to me because it is the same as us reading scripture from the Bible which is the word and that heals our soul.
Someone in Capernaum said “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof,” he may have thought that he is not holy enough, God wants us, it does not matter how holy we are, God will still love us and will take care of us always.
We need to reconize who God really is. he has done so much good stuff in our lives and we dont see that sometimes. We need to follow god and trust in him ,because he is our savior.
I think that the gospel is trying to tell us that we aren’t worthy for him to enter under our roof but if he says the words then we his servants will be healed.
“LORD, I AM NOT WORTHY TO HAVE YOU ENTER UNDER MY ROOF; ONLY SAY THE WORD AND MY SERVANT WILL BE HEALED.” I think today Jesus is trying to tell me when we ask for forgiveness He ALWAYS forgives. If we do not ask, He does not give. We can ask for forgiveness at any time and God will forgive. We also have the opportunity to go to confession, so that God can forgive our mortal sins.
We need to make time and be still to listen to Jesus. The bible says he does not come in the thunder or the pounding rains, but he comes in the gentle whisper of the rain.
Even though sometimes we believe that God will never except us after what we did,it’s not true He will always excepts us even if we made bad choices in life.
“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. so this is what God told me today.
what he is saying here is that he is to good to be under our roofs but yet he still loves us to no end.
What I thought of this scripture is that it sounds like the consecration when they say Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;
only say the word and my servant will be healed. Also that Jesus was amazed that he had such faith and was surprised.
