Holy Thursday-Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper

Prayer Prompt before reading JN 13:1-15: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“I HAVE GIVEN YOU A MODEL TO FOLLOW, SO THAT AS I HAVE DONE FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD ALSO DO.” JN 13:1-15

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, Holy Thursday, the Institution of the priesthood and Eucharist, Jesus gives us the first Mass. In John’s Gospel, he does not use the words of institution but rather focuses on the washing of the disciples feet. Jesus provides a model that mirrors the crucifixion. The lowliest Jewish slave did not wash his master’s feet.

This symbolizes the crucifixion. Some scripture scholar’s believe the washing of the feet symbolizes baptism. The teaching Christ is handing on to us is to be selfless. This is the call of young men who want to serve God in the priesthood. “There is no greater love than to lay one’s life down for one’s friends.” JN 15:13

God became a Man to show us how much the Father loves us, to redeem us by giving His own life up to atone for every sin, and be a model of holiness. This is true love. There is no greater love. This is what our hearts are truly yearning for. We are fulfilled when we are selfless and give up ourselves for the other, when we learn to serve. Enter each room asking how you can help.

Get off of our screens and spend time with humans giving and receiving. Sacrifice what you want for the benefit of the other. At the heart of Holy Thursday, Jesus teaches us to be other-centered. It takes a lifetime, a vocation, and training our mind to wake each day and be other-centered. If you make this choice, the rewards are eternal!

Today’s challenge: Take time to go to watch the Easter Triduum, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, the three highest feast days on all of the Church calendar. How did these events change YOUR life forever and all of human history? If it is all about another long weekend to spend more time on yourself, what are your priorities? Jesus opens wide His heart for you, gives up His life for you, and desires a personal relationship with you. The hardest part, you have to CHANGE! We hate change and we are afraid. Ask God for His grace, it transforms what sin has damaged.

Be a servant, become a saint!

“’There is no greater love than to lay one’s life down for one’s friends.’ JN 15:13″ This stood out to me because in my opinion there is greater love by laying down your life for your enemies.

Jesus loved his own “to the end”. This does not just mean until his death, but to the fullest extent. Even while aware that he held “everything in his power” and that Judas was about to betray him, Jesus chose to use that power not to dominate, but to serve.

In the Gospel today, Jesus washes the feet of His disciples. He does this to show that even though he won’t be with us on Earth, he is with us in spirit. We need to let Jesus take over, and give our life to him. If we don’t have him in our hearts, we won’t know what to live for. If we have him, we will have a better relationship with him.

Jesus was so stressed and worried during the last supper and especially the agony in the garden, but He had trust in God that He would get through. This is how we must be; willing to follow God’s will and to not look back. So ask God today to give you the faith needed to get through

I think this scripture is just here to remind us how much God loves us. From creating us and everything we love too sending his son down and having him sacrifice himself too lift the burden of our sin off of us. We need to recognize more how much God love us, what we really need to think about is how much we love him. When we sin he doesnt grow farther from us, we grow farther from him.

This part stuck out to me the most, because it talks about how we should follow Gods example, to help each other seek the Lord. Jesus wanted Judas to find the Lord, so he washed their feet, which would clean there soul. Jesus wants all of our souls to be clean, so we can go straight to him

In today’s Gospel Jesus is washing the feet of the disciples. Most protested but Jesus told them “Whoever has bathed has no need except to have his feet washed, for he is clean all over; so you are clean, but not all.” He is saying that whoever has bathed (reconciliation) will be clean all over but some are not clean because they have not reconciled.

Jesus came to earth as a humble being not a righteous king. As he says in today’s gospel that he is our example and role model. Whatever we do unto others is what we are doing to him. So Jesus says to wash others feet just as he washed ours. Sometimes we don’t know what he is doing in our life but but we need to fully and completely trust in him.

Jesus showed his disciples how much he loved them by doing the job of a servant and washing their dirty feet. Even though he was their teacher, he did this to show that being a true leader means putting others first and helping them. He told his followers that because he served them, they must also be willing to serve and care for one another in the same kind way. By doing this, Jesus gave them a life lesson: to be a part of his team, you have to be humble enough to both receive help and give it to others

in today’s Gospel it talked about the last supper and how Jesus washes his disciples feet, I think this is very important because Jesus said, “Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me.” He said this because Simon refused so Simon responded with. “Master, then not only my feet, but my hands and head as well.” In summary I think this is telling us to trust Jesus with our whole heart.

In todays Gospel Jesus unserstands that he is in trouble. He is fully aware of what is going to happen later and will know he is going to suffer. He then prepares for supper with his disiplces, knowing it will be his last, he decides to wash his diciples feet, they are very confused and refuse Jesus’ offer. Peter would not let his master wash his own feet. Then Peter said “then not only wash my feet but wash my head”. Jesus says to him for whoever bathe are clean everywhere as long as their feet have been cleaned. When he finishes washing there feet he says to them. You call me master, rightly so so what I have done for you tonight should be an example, for you to go out and wash others’ feet. God, Bless, Have a lovely Easter!

In the Gospel, Jesus becomes like a servant and washes the Apostles’ feet. God did not come to save us and think like other kings who had big egos and thought they should have THEIR feet washed. He came as a merciful and humble savior to save us all from sin. He had doubters in his works, including Simon Peter who said, “You will never wash my feet”. He thought that they should have been washing his feet and that he was too important to be washing their feet. We need to remember to be like servants in order to get to Heaven.

Tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth of this month every one of your families must procure for itself a lamb, one apiece for each household. If a family is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join the nearest household in procuring one and shall share in the lamb in proportion to the number of persons who partake of it. The lamb must be a year-old male and without blemish. You may take it from either the sheep or the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, and then, with the whole assembly of Israel present, it shall be slaughtered during the evening twilight. They shall take some of its blood and apply it to the two doorposts and the lintel of every house in which they partake of the lamb. That same night they shall eat its roasted flesh with unleavened bread and bitter herbs”. this stuck out to me because those who did not believe lost their son.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus washes the apostles’ feet. When Simon Peter at first doesn’t let Jesus wash his feet, Jesus says, “Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me.” This refers to Baptism, where we are adopted into God’s Kingdom and signed with an indelible mark on us. Through Baptism, we are in a state of perfect holiness, like a saint on fire. As we grow, we fade from that state of holiness and grace. We must do what Jesus does to others, like how Jesus washes the feet of the apostles, we must wash the feet of our community. When we do good deeds to others, we glorify God and when we pray piously and faithfully, we enter back in the same state of grace at Baptism.

Jesus must have been in so much sorrow and stress imagine you knew exactly how you where going to do and when and how much pain you were going to feel. i would honestly probably die cuase of how much stress i would have. also another thing that amazes me is that he actually went through it and died for us even tho he knew how he was going to die from the time he was born. Also another thing that kinda saddens me is imagining i am having my last hangout with my friends ever and then i know that i wont be able to be with them anymore and make them go through sadness. And also Jesus having to go through one of the best friends betraying him and knowing that he would later kill himself is also really i sad thing that he had to go through.

We should never be reluctant to help others, because Jesus, the Son of God, washed his disciples’ feet. People probably just wore sandals then, so imagine how dirty their feet could have been. In today ´ s Gospel jesus knows it is gonna be his last meal and he knew he was gonna
die on the cross for us and during that time jesus was stressed and scared so much so
he sweated blood and started bleeding and when jesus was going up on that cross he was bleeding

In today’s scripture reflection it talks about God becoming man so he could spread the greatness of the father, and how much the father loves us so much that he gave his life up to redeem our sins, and to teach us the way of holiness. This is what the real meaning of love is, this is the love we all yearn for but don’t seem to understand that yet or accept that.

What stuck out to me in this Gospel is that Jesus, Son of God washing his apostles feet. You wouldn’t think that God Himself would be washing others feet, but He does. It teaches us to love one another like Jesus loves us, and how no one is better than us and everyone is equal in Gods eyes.

Jesus came to earth as a humble being not a righteous king. He never asked for anything from anyone except to follow and believe in Him and His Father. He was humble and sacrificed Himself for the greater good of salvation.

In today’s Gospel Jesus washes his disciples feet which is weird because Jesus is God and he is our Lord but he is being a role model for his disciples. Jesus is showing them how to act to others. Treat others how you would treat Jesus.

in todays gospel Jesus washes the disciples feet as an example to us that if Jesus our Lord and God can wash our feet we too can wash each other’s feet. this also represents the golden rule treat others how you want to be treated. Jesus washes the disciples feet not so that they can do it for him but so that may do it to each other.

in today’ s gospel Jesus washed his disciples feet as a sign of love. It is fascinating that instead of the disciples washing jesus’s feet, he washed theirs.

In today’s Gospel in washing the Apostles’ feet Jesus serves them. In saying You ought to wash each other’s feet Jesus calls us to serve likewise to our neighbor. Jesus sets the example of even those with authority and social standing must serve the ones they lead. For whoever wishes to first shall be last, and those who are last are put first

The part of this Gospel that stuck out to me was when Jesus says, “so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” This meant to me that as Jesus helped others and cared about everyone we should follow his example and help and serve others and be self-giving.

todays gospel really shows how much Jesus loves us. even though he is the king of all kings he washed his disciples feet. how wonderful it is that we have such a loving and humble God that he would even lower himself down to a servant washing our feet.

the main point of the gospel is when Jesus washes the disciples feet. I’m pretty sure its not normal for the master to wash the followers feet, but he is teaching us that we need to care for others. if we always expect people to do things for us instead of the other way around, we will never find peace in what we’ve done throughout life.

Today in the Gospel Jesus washed the disciple’s feet. He did this to show all of us that we need to put others before us. We should help others in need and always be kind to others.

Jesus washed the apostles feet. He loved everyone and so washed their feet with care. In God’s eyes we are all equal and He loves us all. This shows we need to love each other like Jesus loved us.

At the end of the gospel, Jesus gives us a calling. A calling to go out into the world and fill it with kindness, to serve God, others, and then themselves. Some people may find this difficult to do because they have to actually interact with and be nice to people. This modern world has a great number of traps and pitfalls set by the devil to keep us from doing this. We have to learn to recognize these traps and avoid them, to remain a servant of God.

What I took from today’s gospel is that we need to help people if we can. Even if we don’t want to we need to.

Then also the last supper Jesus was telling his deciples trhat this will be his last meal then he was also explaining that he will come again. Then Jesus also said that somethings he says they will not understand now but will understand later.

In today’s scripture it is telling us that we need to go out into the world and serve others just how Jesus did to his followers and to anyone he did not know. In this reading Jesus is washing the feet of his disciples, he was not hesitant to wash their feet. Jesus does this to cleanse us from our sin because he loves you so much and died on that Cross for you to live a happy and safe life with a relationship with him. He tells them that he is going away and going somewhere they cannot go, but he told them that he would return again. We need to serve others and help others just the way Jesus did and the way he taught us to. He washed all of their feet they same way, he did not treat anybody different from one another. We judge people but we should not judge because Jesus never taught us to judge others. We should help when someone needs help and it should be willing, you should not help others when you are not doing it with the kindness of your own heart. Every time you do something you should always do it with a big heart and a good attitude for that person. Because if you do something for them in a way of not good matter, that is not spreading kindest to someone. Have a good rest of your day!!! God loves you so much because he died for your sins and rose from the dead to save you from evil!!! God Bless!!! Viva Cristo Rey!!!

The ultimate expression of love is described as laying down one’s life for friends, as referenced in John 15:13.

“I HAVE GIVEN YOU A MODEL TO FOLLOW, SO THAT AS I HAVE DONE FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD ALSO DO.” What stood out to me is that Jesus wants us to follow his model he wants us to spread the word and try to be truthful and honest to others he wants us to try and follow in his footsteps

God never backed down even when He knew He would be tormented and put to death. He never treated Himself like a king even though He was the Son of God. We should never treat ourselves different than anyone else because in Gods eyes, we are all the same.
