Prayer Prompt before reading JN 15:18-21: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“BECAUSE YOU DO NOT BELONG TO THE WORLD, AND I HAVE CHOSEN YOU OUT OF THE WORLD, THE WORLD HATES YOU.” JN 15:18-21

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

We are in this world, but not of this world.  Jesus is speaking to His 12 Apostles at the Last Supper. The first bishops were chosen by Jesus after He prayed through the night to His Father.  We are able to join this amazing company of saints because Jesus died and rose. Through Baptism, we too are chosen out of this world.  Jesus says their will be persecution and hatred towards us, not because we are bad, but because people don’t understand.

By our baptism, we are called to die to self and put on Christ.  We are created out of God’s love and are called to love others.  One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy is to Instruct the Ignorant.  We Instruct the Ignorant first by the way we live our lives, full of joy.

We help others who nobody else loves. We love the unloved.  We are missionaries in our own homes by helping others and putting our family members before ourselves.  For Christ first loved us and it is not meant to be stopped with us, but to flow from us to others.

Then, when someone wants to know our secret, we instruct them on the love God has for all.  We tell them that Jesus died for all and is the reason we do not live like others or mistreat others.  We strive to be other-centered like Christ was for us. We teach them about hope and forgiveness.   Let us focus on cancelling debts and being merciful.  God remembered His promise of mercy, this is our joy.  We too, can obtain eternal life!

Today’s challenge: Instruct the Ignorant.  Be the most joyful person in your home, school, and community because you understand God’s great love and want to share it.  Show everyone the power of the Cross!

Be a servant, be a saint today!
