Read Saturday’s readings and listen to the Word today at Mass www.usccb.org
“Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name.” Lk 10:17
The apostles have done great wonders and cast out demons by Jesus’ s name.  To the name Jesus every knee shall bend above in the heavens and on the earth.  Jesus’s name is very powerful.  Everyone is baptized through His name and all other sacraments and prayers use His name.  How often do we say His name in vain?  How often do we use vulgar language when hanging out with our friends or on our social networking sites?  Do our video games and music also have cussing, vulgarities and treat girls as objects?  Listen to what St. Paul says about what our minds should be on in today’s second reading, “Brothers and sisters:
Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
make your requests known to God.
Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters,
whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious,
if there is any excellence
and if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.
Keep on doing what you have learned and received
and heard and seen in me.
Then the God of peace will be with you.” Phil 4:6-9

I challenge you to stop saying God’s name in vain, stop listening to vulgar music, use clean language to talk and text your friends, and play video games that do not cuss.  The name Jesus should only be used in prayer and it is a very powerful name!
