Jesus vs. Devil

In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks not only Matthew the tax collector but you and I to, “Follow Him”! Think really hard on whether there is any greater call from any greater Being.

The Devil wanted to be God and would not submit to Him. We know what happened to him. It is very difficult to submit with a selfish fallen human nature and an highly intelligent fallen angel trying to deceive you and snatch your soul.

This is the everyday battle and it’s the only game in town. It starts in your mind and with your will. Jesus tells us the only way to salvation is to die to self (turn our will over to God) and put on Christ ( live out our baptismal promises to reject Satan and believe in the Creed).

Last, each time you sin the devil plays a big trick on the way you think about yourself. He takes hold of your guilt and adds to your anxiety over your wrongdoing. He makes you think you should not pray, your not worthy to even talk or be in presence of God because you have sinned against Him. Many people stop praying or going to Church because if this. WARNING: This is allowing the Devil to win the war within you.

LISTEN to what Jesus says,”Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Mk 2:17

Again, there is only one game in town and it starts in your mind. Which side will you choose and fight for each day? It’s life and death. It has to do with Eternity! Take it very serious! Submit to God, fight the Devil with the armor of God, pray, fast, love, and live in eternal joy!
