“Joseph, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins.” Mt. 1:18-25
Joseph wanted to divorce Mary after the news came that she was with child. Joseph and Mary had no relations and she was pregnant. Joseph must have struggled with this tremendously. The only choice he had was to divorce her because he thought she had been with another man which in the Jewish faith is punishable by stoning. He wanted to do it in secret so she would not receive this treatment. What love he must of had for Mary. Mary and Joseph trusted God and he did not disappoint them. They were chosen to raise the Savior of the world. As the angel told Joseph in the quote above, “you are to name him Jesus because he will save his people from their sins!!!!”
The joy that comes from this season is within us from Baptism as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. But, we only recognize it when do God’s will. When we do God’ s will we fully understand the special gift of Jesus Christ the Savior of the world who came to take your place on the cross for your sins. What love, we killed God and he came back and still loves and forgives us. That’s not fair! This is the joy of the Good News, recognize it in your life and spread it to others!
