Prayer Prompt before reading JN 5:31-47: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
“I DO NOT ACCEPT HUMAN TESTIMONY,BUT I SAY THIS SO THAT YOU MAY BE SAVED.” JN 5:31-47
Today, Jesus reminds us He is God and that He came from the Father.
“The works that the Father gave me to accomplish,
these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.”
He is one with God and the Torah is being fulfilled by Him as He speaks.
“For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me” and “You search the Scriptures, because you think you have eternal life through them; even they testify on my behalf.”
The Word made Flesh dwelt among us and He brought us a message of salvation, “I do not accept human testimony, but I say this so that you may be saved.”
Does Jesus need to be more detailed and explicit in who He is and what His mission is about? Will there ever be enough Words from God to convince us that Jesus is the Savior of the world and God is the one true God? No. We have to believe it is the Truth in our heart and totally and completely dedicate ourselves to Him with faith based on these Words He revealed.
We will fall short putting forth half-hearted effort, continuing to fall, and a wavering faith. This is the beauty of the Gospel, God knows these weaknesses and still chooses to love with a Father’s love.
Jesus resurrected and all He said is Truth or He did not resurrect and He is a radical liar claiming to be one with God. Jesus forces us to make a decision and then live our lives being transformed by Him. Otherwise, we have no identity, no mission and purpose. We have no hope for a better future or of a place where there is a loving Father. There is no love without God.
Today’s challenge: Believe that Jesus is one with the only God and He came to save us. Dedicate yourself to Him by praying to Him without ceasing, invite Him into every part of your life, receive Him daily if possible in the Eucharist, visit Him in the Adoration chapel and keep Him company, ask Him to help you understand Him better and love Him more, sit at His feet every day and learn from Him to prepare for His Passion, Death, and Resurrection for your soul.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YODO (You Only Die Once; We will live again!)
Jesus says that if He were to testify on His own behalf, then that testimony is false. But He says that His coming was testified by John the baptist. He then goes on to say that He has greater things than John’s testimonies. He then accuses the people by saying that His father has testified on His behalf, but the people have not heard His “voice, nor seen His form, because you do not believe in the one who was sent.” Jesus wants nothing more for us than eternal life, but He tells us that in order to achieve it, we need to have faith in Him.
In today’s gospel the it talks of how the Lord was sent by the father but others do not believe him so he says “The works that the Father gave me to accomplish,
these works that I perform testify on my behalf
that the Father has sent me,” but the people still do not believe in him accept for John.
“How will you believe my words?” This is what we are asked by God every day the only thing we can do is answer him. Some will take I to heart but most will not try to believe him. All I want to say is believe in him as much as you can!
God. We have to believe in God. If we strive and grow in our faith to put your trust in to the Lord, he will succeed and help you find your way back home. So go, find your way to the Lord, and be an inspiration to others, and help them get closer to God to
I think that Jesus is trying to tell us that we need to have faith in what he says because he will be coming back very soon to save us all once again. He said if you don’t believe in Moses writing why would you believe in my word.
Jesus forces us to make a decision and then live our lives being transformed by Him. God knows these weaknesses and still chooses to love with a Father’s love. We have to believe it is the Truth in our heart and totally and completely dedicate ourselves to Him with faith based on these Words He revealed.
In this scripture it says there is no Love without God, to me this stands out because it shows that God really is just love straight through. God is love and without Him, there can be no Love in the world or anywhere. We need to realize that, we need to realize who and what God is, and we c an only do that through prayer and listening to the gospel.
There are a lot of people that are lukewarm Christians and that is bad because if you aren’t all in it for God you can’t go to heaven. You can’t love God and still sin and not even try to fix it you have to look to God so he can change you. If you try to change your sins by yourself you will always go back every time that is why it is important that God changes you.
Jesus fulfills what God wanted to Him to do. This is showing how much love Jesus has. Jesus sacrificed Himself for us, so that He could have our sins and we can be forgiven from them. There is so much proof that Jesus is the Son of God but sometimes we choose not to believe it. Sometimes it can be hard and we want to blame God for things that happen to us and we don’t like. God has a plan for us and He knows what is going to strengthen us during hard times. We need to follow Jesus and believe in what He has planned for us.
We need to believe that Jesus is God or we will not have eternal life, and even if we do believe we have to put effort into our relationship with him even when we don’t he still loves us and want to have a relationship with him because he loves us and wants us to have enteral life with him in heaven
Jesus resurrected and all He said is Truth.I liked this sentence because it is a very true statement Jesus really did only tell the truth after his resurrection.
In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling the people “For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” Lots of people in the time Jesus came believed in Him but many did not. Believing in Jesus is a very important part of our faith. Sometimes we tend to believe other things and then refuse to believe what we don’t want to believe. We should believe that Jesus was the Son of God because He saved us and He loves us and He never did anything wrong. He was without sin and died for our sin. God loves us so much and we need to do the best we can to spread His love to others around us and to love Him back.
Something that I got out of this was the Jesus is truly Human, and Divine at the same time. He says multiple times in the Gospel that he does not accept human testimony, and only that of God, yet he still came down to earth just to serve us, he came down to earth, just to be one of us. He is the most humble out of anyone to ever walked this earth, yet we still think too highly of ourselves. We need to be humble in what we do because even the King of Kings, the creator of the universe, came down onto this planet just for us.
“I DO NOT ACCEPT HUMAN TESTIMONY,BUT I SAY THIS SO THAT YOU MAY BE SAVED.” JN 5:31-47
In this Gospel, I believe Jesus is trying to tell us that we will not believe in him at first but we have heard actual stories about him and now that he was there in the flesh they rebuked him. I’m not saying i would be better than them because if someone were to walk in here and say “Your Father has sent me” who would believe that even now. But still even after all of Jesus’s hard work they still didn’t believe in Him just like some of us do now. We need to fix that by spending time with him in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
It was very hard to understand the gospel today but what I could make out from it was that Jesus is the Messiah and he also loves us and we should strive to be like him.
” if you don’t believe in the writings how can you not believe in my words.” says Jesus. Right now in our time, Catholics choose to forget about the writings. You have people not wanting to participate in the mass thinking that because I have God’s blessing it is enough. Not really, we need more than that. We believe that us Catholics need to have this higher power to believe in, and we need to receive this higher power to believe in. If we are Catholics and we do not believe in the scriptures, who are we? we are a farmer without plants in a field, we have nothing to put our minds into. to care for. Is this really how we want to be, just people who show up Catholic but not do Catholic things. If we are in union with God, how come we are not participating in this relationship with Christ. Believe in something, if you do not believe in something. You have no life. If you do want to believe in something, believe we have a God, and you are not him. We are never God. Yet we have to believe that in scripture. If you believe in scripture, words of Jesus, and that Jesus is present at mass. You are saved. If you don’t you are a lost sheep. Find something to believe in. That’s God.
Jesus is the truth and the light of the world, everything that he has said is truth. Believe that Jesus is the loving father and that he came to save us from our sins.
I think that in today’s Gospel Jesus is calling everyone out. Not just the Pharisees or scribes or anyone of that time, he is calling us out as well for acting like we believe in God but in our hearts we aren’t really sure what we believe in. We act like we believe in Jesus but we spend so much time on our phones or video games or whatever is distracting us from the one and only Jesus Christ The Savior. He saved us from countless sins, freed us from the grasp of Satan, and opened the gates of Heaven for us to enter eternal life with Him. Which should be our goal for our lives we should be the ones putting in as much work as him yet we just sit here letting things that don’t matter in the end distract us from the One who literally died the most painful death for us. Jesus cared so much for us that he prayed at the agony in the garden to the point where he was sweating blood he was under so much anxiety and stress for the coming days yet he still thought of every single one of us despite how much we are going to sin he thought about the Holiest people to ever walk the face of the Earth but he also though about the evilest people to ever walk the face of the Earth he even though about the people never got to walk the face of the Earth. All the unborn babies all the saints and all the sinners were thought about during the agony in the Garden and he was still thinking about us as He bowed His head and died for us. So why cant we do the same for him while there are many restrictions the least we can do is go to mass (and actually pay attention), follow all the commandments, and actually pray and know that God will help you when you are in a time of need because even though he has already completed the greatest act of love anybody could ever do he will still help with all your stresses and everything that is worrying you. God is God and he can do anything and so could you if you follow the will of God.
“There is no love without God.” Today God is telling me that God is love. No one else is gonna love you how God loves you and at the end of the day as long as you have God, then you shall not be worried. Once you let Him in you will feel different, but all of your problems won’t go away but instead stay. God doesn’t make us perfect once He comes into our life, because we are still human, so we are never going to be perfect. Yes we are perfect in our own ways, but never the same as God. You may feel happy or loved by your friends, family, and etc. but nothing compares to God. God sent those people down into your life to help you along the way, you didn’t just meet them by mistake you know. Everything happens for a reason and even if that means suffering a lot. You will suffer a great amount and the suffering won’t end until you get to Heaven. Stay close to God and keep on believing then you will get everlasting happiness forever and ever. Friends, family, etc. are love and created by the Most Holy, but one day everything will make sense and you will look back in either regret or in awe. Use the life you have wisely for it will change your life forever if you put it to waste.
Today in the start of the gospel Jesus is talking about how our court of law works. Where if he tries to defend himself it won’t go very well even if he is telling the truth, but if he has someone testifying for him he could be in a better spot. Then he talks about them trying to capture John and John tries to testify by himself. Then Jesus says he does not accept human testimony. For a while they were content with what John was telling them. Then Jesus says that he has testimony greater than John. In saying this he reveals what God has sent him to do and he was sent to prove all of the prophets true. After he says that his works show that he has been sent by the father. I think this goes back to him saying he doesn’t like human testimony because he is telling the truth about being the son of God and no one believes him even though his works show that he is. Jesus says that God has testified on his behalf but they do not know God because they do not listen to the one God sent to them. He says that they only look to the scriptures for eternal life, but even the scriptures are spoken on Jesus’ behalf. They don’t want to come to him for life. He says I don’t accept human praise. He says that he knows that they don’t have love for the father because the father has sent him. This must have a good purpose because Jesus says it multiple times in the Gospel today, that they don’t really love and know God because they don’t accept Jesus. This again shows the Trinity and that they are all three persons in one. He says how can you believe when you accept praise from one another but not for the True God. He says don’t think I will accuse you in front of the father. One from among you will accuse you one that you worship; Moses Moses will accuse you in front of God, and if you believe Moses you should believe me because Moses talks about me.
“But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” Jesus is saying this because by writings he is meaning how Moses wrote about Jesus. I feel like this in a way could be like how we say we believe in Jesus and all that he does, but some read miricles or the Bible and may not fully believe it. Thats why i think if you do not beleive those books and stories how will you believe Jesus? Jesus is amazing and we need to trust and believe in him.
in this scripture it says “We will fall short putting forth half-hearted effort, continuing to fall, and a wavering faith. This is the beauty of the Gospel, God knows these weaknesses and still chooses to love with a Father’s love.” saying that the Devil will always try and temp us but Gods love is always stronger than our weaknesses
We will fall short putting forth half-hearted effort, continuing to fall, and a wavering faith. This is the beauty of the Gospel, God knows these weaknesses and still chooses to love with a Father’s love. This stood out to me because the Gospel is the most beautiful book ever and everybody should be reading it.
“I DO NOT ACCEPT HUMAN TESTIMONY,BUT I SAY THIS SO THAT YOU MAY BE SAVED.” JN 5:31-47.Jesus tells the Jews that if he testified on his own behalf,The testimony would not be true. This makes me think that he is asking people if THEY believe in him if they want to testimony on his behalf to believe that he is our savior
This Scripture is reminding me that he did truly come from the father, and that if we follow him, there is a prize. “For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me”.
I think the phrase “We will fall short putting forth half-hearted effort, continuing to fall, and a wavering faith”. shows that to be in a close relationship with God then you need to be faithful and not be careless in sin. Satan is always tempting us and we need to be able to distinguish the calling of God and the fake efforts to lore us into sinning.
Jesus died on the cross for us and we should give are whole heart to God.
In today’s Gospel it says “For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words.” Many people believed in Moses and he led all the people closer to God. If those people stayed believing then they would be with God forever. If you did not believe in God then, it will be harder to lead you to Him.
Something that stuck in my heart is that we today have to believe in Jesus, somehting I also think of when they say now is because right now the second coming of Jesus can happen. No one knows when Jesus will come back, Jesus will come into the night like a thief. What it means that he will come like a thief is that you don’t know when I thief will come into your home or when it will be. Jesus is so secretive of it that no one will expect it to happen that he will come back. So when they say to believe in Jesus now is that you don’t know if he will be back tomorow or in a year or in a million years. That’s why we must have to believe in him now and in this second.
“We have to believe it is the Truth in our heart and totally and completely dedicate ourselves to Him with faith based on these Words He revealed. ” this stuck out to me because some people don’t believe that Jesus Is our savior and our life. They think they have to hear his own voice to know that he is real. We have to believe that Jesus is real in our hearts.
It was telling me that there is no love without God, without God, there would be NOTHING!
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is saying that we search the scriptures and we seek eternal life, but we can’t get eternal life just through the scriptures, we need to participate in other things related to God’s good will. We need to go to Mass(and actually pay attention to what is going on), we need to pray daily, and we need to really believe in what is being presented to us in our lives: Jesus, our savior.
I think todays gospel is trying to tell us that we need to believe in Jesus even if it seems that he is not giving us his whole plan. This is because everything God does is for a reason and if we do believe in him even though we cant fully understand his meaning for being here with us at Mass and helping us with our sin then we will live eternally with hi in Heaven.
Jesus came to earth to save us. we need to have faith in Jesus. we need to decate are self to him.
Today what stuck out to me is Jesus is trying to understand why they think he is not from God. The Lord king of kings is having to tell the people that he is truly from the Lord! That is ridiculous right?! Well think if a man came to the United States after being born in a little farm in the middle of Kansas. And we were told he is king and he will save us. How would we react? Some might say that’s not the real king, some may think it is. This is no different than Jesus trying to tell the apostles he is the lords son. There could be another Jesus out there, that Jesus could be us! We just have to follow the way of Christ!
Jesus is telling us that he is the only way to God. You can’t get to God without him. Jesus ridicules the Pharisees who are trying to say that Jesus is a fraud while also saying the scriptures show them the way to eternal life. In reality only the second part is true, the scriptures do show us the way to eternal life but that is only true because the scriptures tell us about Jesus! The Pharisees only thought in the terms of the law but what they failed to realize is Jesus is the law. Jesus is the law because he is God! The Jews don’t believe him because they were ready for a physical and powerful king who would free them from the Romans. Jesus instead frees them and us from a greater power than the Romans, sin. For this reason we should believe in him even more! God is telling us how to get to him. All we have to do is listen.
“I do not accept human praise;
moreover, I know that you do not have the love of God in you.
I came in the name of my Father,
but you do not accept me;
yet if another comes in his own name,
you will accept him.”
I think Jesus is trying to say that we don’t believe that Jesus is the true Messiah because they thought that the Messiah was gonna be a king and savior as in king, ruler of all because he is so powerful, and savior as in, he’s going to save us from our famens and he’s gonna make us all rich, but how Jesus came, they just see him as a lonely carpenters kid, not a true Messiah. But what they don’t see is that they were right, he was gonna come down as a king and savior, just not the ways they thought he was. Jesus is a king of heaven and our hearts, he is the savior of the world by dying for our sins. The Jews didn’t understand him because they didn’t think about what they NEEDED they only thought about what they WANTED. THAT’S why Jesus got tortured, THAT’S why Jesus got spit on, and ignored. That’s why people don’t love him the way they should. Because we are selfish, unloving, uncaring, its our fault Jesus had to suffer, and that’s why we need to love him and worship him and BELIEVE him! Because he IS God, he IS unselfish, he IS loving, and he is caring.
He is saying that if you do not believe in what he as written then HOW will you believe In my word.
This tells me that we need to truly believe in God. It tells us that just because we hear God’s words does not mean that we truly believe. We have to accept him completely.
In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us all about the signs the Prophets gave them about Jesus but the Jews keep ignoring them
In the Gospel,The Jews were not believing that Jesus came from God. They didn’t think that he came from the only God. Thats How us humans act sometimes, so we need to trust in God in all of his works and follow his ways, never let Satan bring you down.
In this Gospel I found this line intersting to me: Father who sent me has testified on my behalf.
But you have never heard his voice nor seen his form. What I think this means to me through the Gospel is that God didn’t only send his son Jesus just to show everyone he can do miracles but he came down to the earth to save us from sin. And to follow Jesus we must believe on his behalf.
when it said that we seek praise in other people and not in God it is telling us that God knows what’s best for us and we should listen and look for God in all that we do and go to Him when we need Him and not other people
“Jesus reminds us He is God and that He came from the Father.” Jesus is God And he will always be whenever were not thinking of him, whenever were sad, mad, anything. He’s still going to be the same God that we know.
The message I got from today’s gospel is that we need to actually try to listen to God. Sometimes many pray because they want to be answered, and are disappointed when God does not answer them right away. I think the Jesus was just trying to tell us that God’s timing is always right, so we should try our hardest to truly believe in his word and love him.
What God is telling me today is that we need to remember that he is the one and true God. That he sent down his only son to save us. That shows that he would send his child to be killed just for us. Sometimes we don’t think about that during mass when we drift off. So we must continue to try to always focus on God and make him our number one priority.
This meant to me that we will never know God’s whole plan but we still have to Believe in Him! We have to dedicate ourselves to Him and God will always accept us because He knows that we love Him!
What really stuck out to me was that Jesus said that they don’t believe in him but if the father sent another in his own name they would believe in him. This really shows that the people are so oblivious to what God has given us. God gave us his only son to save us from sin and we still neglect him to this day. If Jesus were to have lived in our generation, if we really think about it we would’ve done the same thing the Jews did 2000 years ago. We wouldn’t have believed because we would all say it is blasphemy. This really shows that human nature needs to stop denying Jesus when he tries to love us, we need to think about how he did die on the cross for us and how grateful we should be for that.
What stuck out to me in the Gospel is that Jesus is almost confused about why the people would believe in Moses, but not in Jesus himself. We need to be able to submit our lives into God’s presence because if we don’t, we will not have eternal life with Him in Heaven. Jesus wants us to believe in all that He says. I think that it might be hard to understand what it all means, but I think He does that on purpose, so we can have a full understanding when we get to Heaven, The people in this story are confused because they don’t understand Him and what he is saying. So, let us all try to believe and understand what God has to say!
“I do not accept human praise;
moreover, I know that you do not have the love of God in you.
I came in the name of my Father,
but you do not accept me;”
This part stuck out to me Because why do/did they Hebrews not believe in him and his ‘magic’ He did/ has done so much for humanity but we throw it our like its just trash, or we treat it like an everyday thing. Jesus is not an everyday thing Jesus is a present and holy ‘thing’ he is no ‘thing'(s) he is God he is powerful, He is merciful. Jesus did everything for us, but what do we have to offer back to him?… We should offer up fasting, extra praying, and more, to me it makes no sense why people didn’t believe in Jesus he did everything for us, again what have we done for him? You should think about the fact that Jesus died for us, he was in so much pain to where he died in about 3 hours, when it normally takes about 1 1/2 days. Jesus went through so much, but some of us don’t even have anything to give up for him. What can you do for Jesus, to bring/give something up so then you can truly feel like you are doing something for Jesus?
I think today in the Gospel God is telling us that we have to believe and trust in Him, not just read the Bible. The Bible is important to know God, but believing and trusting in Him is just as important.
In today’s Gospel God The Father was trying to teach me that he shouldn’t have to give us his whole plan in order to stay faithful and keep believing God always has a reason and a plan for his actions you need to really believe in God or else you just fall short and don’t make it to heaven like the disciples in today’s Gospel as soon as Moses went up the hill the people started praising the golden calf and to God that is a sign of betrayal we should be praising the Lamb Of God and offer up our sacrifices for him we need to really believe in God we don’t need to know his plan. in the Gospel he says “You are either with me against me” there is no middle either commit or don’t
“For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” This is one line from today’s Gospel that really sticks out to me. I think that if we’re not even willing to listen to the readings and gospels at church, then how are we going to learn to start a better relationship with God? In order to get a better relationship with him, we need to actually listen to what the priests and our teachers are saying to us. Jesus gave up his life on the cross for us and took on all of our sins. We need to learn how to understand the difference between our own voices and Jesus talking to us. If he gave up so much for us, why can’t we just do one little thing like go to Mass or read the Bible? I believe these are things that we would need to do more often in order to actually get closer to God.
I think God is trying to tell me faith is so important. God even says that if we believe in Jesus we will have eternal life. Jesus roamed the Earth and went through all the human emotions so that He could pave the way back to the Father. If we don’t believe in Him how do we get back to the Father? There is no way but the one way path back to the Father. Through faith is the only way we can follow Christ.
“For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” I feel like this Gospel is about belief . Belief in Moses and his writings, belief in Jesus and his word. They didn’t believe in Moses or Jesus enough to be saved.
When Jesus admitted that he was God people had a very hard time believing it. Those people thought that if God the Almighty was made into man he would be a king not a poor carpenters son. They would not think he would come from a poor city and family but that is not what happened. Jesus came from a small family, small town to show humility. He showed that he was human.
Jesus forces us to make a decision and then live our lives being transformed by Him. It shows that we must trust in God but can also talk to him about his decisions. We have to believe it is the Truth in our heart and totally and completely dedicate ourselves to Him with faith based on these Words He revealed
Jesus resurrected and all He said is Truth or He did not resurrect and He is a radical liar claiming to be one with God. He is all good. He didn’t deserve to be hung on a cross but He did it in love. This made me think of the Barabbas video. We are Barabbas and Jesus is saying go live your life to the fullest. It is crazy to think that Jesus did that for us.
“There is no love without God.” This stuck out to me because its saying that God is the center of love, he is the one that created us. If God wasn’t love we wouldn’t be here. If we want to love it starts with God.
What I got from this is that we can take human words or Gods words. We will eventually need to pick between the world and eternal life and the choice is up to us most of pick the human world and forget that God created us in his image and likeness.
“There is no love without God.” Without God there would be nothing. God created everything including love and we cant love others when we cant even love the creator of love.
Jesus forces us to make a decision and then live our lives being transformed by Him. God knows these weaknesses and still chooses to love with a Father’s love. God doesn’t make us perfect once He comes into our life, because we are still human, so we are never going to be perfect. Yes we are perfect in our own ways, but never the same as God. You may feel happy or loved by your friends, family, and etc. but nothing compares to God.
Jesus is trying to tell me that our hearts fully belong to him. Jesus died on the cross resurrected from the dead and he only spoke the truth. With Jesus we have no identity, no mission, and no purpose. There is no love with Jesus.
“I do not accept human praise; moreover, I know that you do not have the love of God in you.” Jesus knew he was above them, being the king of kings and all, but he still chose to come down and be ridiculed. He love for us is huge, but we need to accept that love.
In today’s gospel Jesus tells everyone that he is the Messiah, the Son of God. No one believes him and they call him a blasphemer. Their human thought thinks that he would come down from heaven and free everyone and be king. No one wanted to believe a carpenter could be the SON OF GOD! We know now that he was the True Messiah but we might not have believed Him back then.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells all the Jews that he really is Jesus and they still don’t believe him. It was too hard for the Jews to believe that a carpenter’s son from Nazareth is the son of God. I think that we can see ourselves in the Jews. It’s hard to believe that Jesus can do everything, and even harder to trust in him for everything. This is a reminder to put faith in God, and try to not be like the Jews because we know who the real God is.
“But you do not want to come to me to have life” So many people, in all times of the world, look for stuff besides Jesus to fulfill their needs. Jesus will fulfill our lives as long as we follow him and give our attention and time to him.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus proved to everyone that He is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. We need to believe in Jesus so that we can get closer to God and go to Heaven with him. We should let Jesus guide us to do good and let Him takeover us, so that we can do good.
“how will you believe my words?” This is something I think about daily. How can I help myself believe in his word? It is never easy for me to accept it sometimes, and I even sometimes “how will you believe my words?” This is something I think about daily. How can I help myself believe in his word? It is never easy for me to accept it sometimes, and I even sometimes will go against them If I don’t feel right (really what it was, was not believing in him). But if we just believe, it could lead to great things.
In today’s gospel the it talks of how Jesus was sent by the father but others do not believe him so he says “The works that the Father gave me to accomplish,
these works that I perform testify on my behalf
that the Father has sent me,” but the people still do not believe in him
There is a lot of temptation in the world to believe that Jesus is not real. We are lucky enough to know God and love Him. We need to stay strong in our faith.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is talking about how he was sent by God and how he was God’s son. he also was talking about how if you don’t believe Moses, you won’t believe me.
Jesus says that if you do not believe in what Moses wrote about me how will you believe what I said. I think Jesus is saying Moses writings are the word of God. we know Moses was very close with God so it would make sense for him to do this. we need to believe in Jesus.
“For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings,
how will you believe my words?” I think that we need to believe in the teachings that way we can believe in God.
“How will you believe my words?” This stuck out to me. We should always believe in Him. However a lot of times we don’t believe and doubt Him. Even though it’s hard to believe we need to try our hardest to believe and to continue to believe in HIm.
Jesus resurrected and all He said is Truth. This really sticks out to me because he doesn’t lie, and knowing this it makes it easy for us to trust in him and trust him with our sins.
I think God is telling us that he would do anything just for each and everyone of us. He sacrificed himself on the cross for us and he would do a lot more.
I do not accept human testimony, but I say this so that you may be saved. This part of the Gospel stuck out to me because they do not accept something but they do it so that they may be saved. We might not want to believe or do something but we believe in Jesus so that we may be saved.
Jesus died on the cross for us and that means that we should give all our heart and soul for him.
We shouldn’t need to know everything in order to believe. If we know everything… there isn’t anything for us to believe. Just things we already know. We have to trust that God has written our plan in his own will. He wants us to be with him, and hes here for us.
this scripture says that Jesus resurrected and all He said is Truth Jesus forces us to make a decision and then live our lives being transformed by Him. Otherwise, we have no identity, no mission and purpose. He died for us so we can enter heaven.
“I DO NOT ACCEPT HUMAN TESTIMONY,BUT I SAY THIS SO THAT YOU MAY BE SAVED.” God is telling us that he is willing to do anything for us. He says he doesn’t accept human testimony, but he says that so we can be saved. That shows that he loves all of us with all of his heart, so we shouldn’t be scared of God not loving us.
Jesus died on the cross for us and he did that just for us so that we could live a good life. We need to give our whole heart to God. If he died on the cross for us why can’t we just give him our heart? We need to pray and form a relationship with God because he died for us.
This is the day where you should start believing. It’s hard to believe without any real evidence, but there was evidence for Jesus’s resurrection. Jesus truly did defeat death and resurrected Himself to save us. His sacrifice was true, but we still don’t want to believe. We can be saved and it starts whenever you start believing in Him. The best things you can do is believe. It’s either one day believing, or believing on day one. Start your journey and stick with it.
The Israelite’s lost hope and faith in God. They started worshiping a golden calf. We have to be strong in our faith. This shows that we are strong. The strongest people are the strongest faithfully. Believe. Faith.
“If I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is not true.
But there is another who testifies on my behalf,
and I know that the testimony he gives on my behalf is true.”
So what I say is not true unless someone else believe in the same thing as me.
Jesus makes it clear today that he is the son of God, and he is the one who will make us holy. Jesus is calling us to rise above the sins and join him in heaven, but it is not easy, still we must give ourselves entirely to Jesus because he loves us and he care for us.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says “I came in the name of my Father, but you do not accept me; yet if another comes in his own name, you will accept me.” This stuck out to me because they have been waiting for a savior but when the savior came they did not believe in Him. If they don’t believe in the savior they have been waiting for that has performed hundreds of miracles who do they expect is going to save them. We need trust and believe in the Lord.
“But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” This stuck out to me because we can say we believe in God and act like it, but if we never read the bible and the words of those who were with God, than how will we ever believe what God is saying to us. Those writings are from people who experienced God in first person they were there, they were next to the one and only King. We have to read those writings and not just look at the words, really understand the words that are being said. Once you do that God will reveal himself to you and we will learn to understand God and come closer to him.
“these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.” This part of the Gospel stuck out to me today. in the Gospel today, Jesus is pointing out how people willingly believed John and Moses, but don’t believe Jesus. Jesus explains that even if we don’t believe His words on their own, we surely must believe what we see and hear and feel. We need to not be so negative, to believe that Jesus can save us because He is good.
In today’s Gospel this stuck out to me “I do not accept human praise; moreover, I know that you do not have the love of God in you. I came in the name of my Father, but you do not accept me; yet if another comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?” This stuck out to me because some people don’t seek the praise that God is giving. God really loves us and really cares about us. He wouldn’t be doing anything for us if He didn’t care about us. God is love. He shows us how to love and what love is.
“You search the Scriptures, because you think you have eternal life through them; even they testify on my behalf. But you do not want to come to me to have life” I think this is really similar to yesterday’s gospel. We can read, pray, and praise all we want but if we don’t come to God it doesn’t matter. What we have on this Earth right now does not matter but what does matter is our relationship with God. If we are unable to open up to God and let HIM set us free then sin is going to keep us enslaved and take us further and further away from God. Open up your heart to God and let him lead the way.
One thing I think many people need to think over is the fact that God has done so much for us and yet we still question his teachings and his word as if he didn’t do so much for us and make it as clear as he could to our level of understanding. God sets up a small standard for us to follow as such a huge role model He is. When in prayer, when in doubt, God has never left our side and has been there since day 1 and will continue to be there even after we have passed from this earth. God left us an example (Jesus) to walk to face of the earth and to guide us people and set simple examples for how to help and what to do. Even then, Jesus went above the expectation resulting in God dying for our sins and us as people. I truly believe that we take what the Lord does for us for granted and that we all need to spend more of our day offering prayers and quite simply time to him. God is a huge role model for me and in my opinion should be one for everyone else too.
“But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” Today this quote stuck out to me. Jesus gave us the Scriptures, so that we may know who he is. If we do not believe and read his words, then how will we believe in him? We must come to know and trust Jesus with our lives. In order for us to understand him we must spend time in prayer, in silence, and reading the Scriptures. There are some things that we might have doubt or misunderstanding about, but we must ask God about them and let him fill you in. Therefore, whenever you have doubts, run to the Father and he will give you answers so that you can fully believe in his words.
I think that the gospel is trying to tell us is that not everyone will believe in God. We can make our own choices. If everyone on earth were to believe in God, then we would be in peace. Some people might not like God because of us, some Christians try to force others to follow God, which Isn’t the right way to make them love God and see him like we do. Jesus gave up his life and people laughed at him and spit on him while he was carrying there own sins. Jesus loves us like how we love him. Even though people don’t believe him or don’t want to follow him, he still loves them. And he always will because he is our father and he wants to be in our life and wants us to give him out sins. He died on the cross because he wanted to save us, not because he was forced to. He died for us in one of the most painful way possible, and some people don’t believe in him still. And that Is okay, What isn’t okay is that people try to force others to be christian and they do it in harsh ways. But there are other Christians that tell their faith but also respect other faiths. That is one of the best ways to become a true Christian. It’s their choice to believe who they wanna believe and we should respect that they want to follow someone else. God loves them and wouldn’t force them to love him. So if we wanna be like God then we have to respect their belief and they will respect ours. We Christians love God and he loves everyone back, even If they don’t believe in him. So we should treat everyone with respect like how God does.
“How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?” I think this verse is about how much we try to get recognition from each other, when the only recognition we really need is God’s. At the end of the day, and at the end of our life really, it won’t matter what other people will have said about us, or who liked us and agreed with us and who didn’t. In the end it will be God’s judgement over everyone else’s, and only the praise that comes from Him.
The gospel told us how the people who Moses led out of Egypt are now worshiping a molten calf and think that it has set them free, but it was God. God sees how stiff-necked those people are and He threatens punishment against His people, but then Moses asks Him why would His wrath blaze up against the people He got out of Egypt? Moses asked God to relent in punishing the people and let His blazing wrath down, God did. I realized that we are the stiff-necked people and that God gives us many chances and forgives us over and over when we sin and turn against Him. God is so merciful and loving that when we sin against Him time after time, He continues to forgive us and help us through our problems.
“The works that the Father gave me to accomplish, these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.” Today, Jesus reminds us He is God and that He came from the Father. Jesus is God and sometimes we don’t think of that. We should tell and show us and others that He is the Son of God, even if they don’t believe, they should know.
Okay so not a whole lot really stuck to my heart about the Gospel or Mr. Geortz’s reflection except for one thing when Goertz said to invite Jesus into every part of your life. And that inspired me to say that, Jesus isn’t some outside man who you can just go talk to when you have a problem or something like that. He is not on the outside at all, we can invite him into literally every part of our day. The good moments, the bad, the hard, the easy, the painful, the joyful. He wants to be a part of it all. This took me forever to realize because I definitely just prayed to him at the end of my day and it was basically the same old prayer the whole time. I never felt like I could actually tell him anything because if I was honest, I would be letting him down. If I was honest, it would seem like I wasn’t the perfect daughter of God that I was supposed to be. But recently, I realized how wrong that was. I would hold things back from him simply because I wanted it to seem like I had it all together, like I was always kind and loving and never was rude to anyone. But that wasn’t true and Jesus being all-knowing knew that already. He already knows what you think of everyone and everything. He knows the good and the bad parts of you, we shouldn’t hide them at all, simply because it’s useless, there’s no point to it. And realizing this was probably one of the biggest game changers in my faith life because it opened so many more doors in my relationship with Christ. Jesus knows we’re not perfect and knows we fall sometimes but he still wants to hear about all of our good and bad moments, we don’t need to hide the ones we’re ashamed of. Once we all realize that we truly can open ourselves up fully to Christ, it paves a way for such a strong and beautiful relationship that we should all crave to have with our Father.
