Prayer Prompt before reading JN 5:17-30: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

“I CANNOT DO ANYTHING ON MY OWN; I JUDGE AS I HEAR, AND MY JUDGMENT IS JUST,BECAUSE I DO NOT SEEK MY OWN WILL BUT THE WILL OF THE ONE WHO SENT ME.” JN 5:17-30

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

It is brave indeed for One to say He is One with the Father. Who has walked the earth and said, “I am one with the heavenly Father”? Yep, only Jesus. Many have worshiped the One true God, but no one dare claim to be equal. Once again, Jesus is either a radical liar or equal to the Father. I smell Truth of a Trinity here. Jesus talks about judgment today.

I like to change my mind sometimes. Some people change their mind a lot. I like to make decisions and some people have a hard time making decisions. With Jesus, there is something we must make up our mind on and stick to it and something we cannot change our mind on, the fact that we will die, be judged, and go to heaven or hell for all of eternity(that is a long time by the way).

In the Rich Man and Lazarus parable, Jesus warns us that the after life is eternal states that cannot be changed. We must cherish every second we have on earth to make the right decisions and do the right things. We will die. We will be judged. ”For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he gave to the Son the possession of life in himself. And he gave him power to exercise judgment, because he is the Son of Man.”

In your heart, have you really made the decision to allow Jesus to completely rule your life? Me either. It is time to make that decision, we do not get second chances after we die and death is immanent. Most importantly, there is nothing more that God wants but to have His cherished creation come back to Him. He loves you more than you love yourself. He wants you to be a saint more than you want it yourself, to be with Him for all eternity. He wants you to know His Will. SO LET HIM LOVE YOU!

Today’s challenge: Reflect on the 4 final things, death, judgment, heaven, hell. It’s your choice, God has already done the legwork by giving us His Son, now it’s time to believe. Give yourself to Jesus totally and completely and allow Him to love you, His greatest desire.

Be a servant, be a saint today!

Jesus knows what is best for us, and what is best is for us to give our life up completely to Him. Jesus is not demanding or commanding us to do this, He is asking. He wants us to have what is best, and He has loved us from the moment of creation, which is why He gave us free will. He allows us to choose, and asks that we listen to Him. So we need to surrender completely to God.

    now it’s time to believe
that part stuck out to me because you have to believe in yourself and believe in the power of God and that you believe he can do all things good. Believing in yourself can be hard, but we have to have belief in ourselves if we want God to work with us. So, believe and you shall receive.

I think that God is trying to tell us that he is putting all of our sins that we did and that he is going to go up on the cross and there will be judgement for the after life.

In today’s gospel it talks of how Jesus made himself equal to God and how the reacted they wanted to kill him even for he made himself equal to God so he told them “Amen, amen, I say to you, the Son cannot do anything on his own,
    but only what he sees the Father doing;
for what he does, the Son will do also.”, they did not believe anyone could be equal to God though they did not realized jesus is the real son god but also God.

is praying for us and we are praying to him for
guidence in our lives God wants us to be the best

I think that in today’s Gospel Jesus is trying to say that we need to believe in him to believe in the Father and we need to believe in the father to believe in him. Also I think he is restarting the fact that God is his Father and that he is the Son of Man and should be treated and worshiped as the Son of Man should be.

Jesus said He is the son of the Father. During this time people could not believe this because He was basically saying that He is equal to God. Some might take this wrongly and what happen to Jesus was apart of this. Even Jesus said He cannot do anything on His own but with the Father Who sent me. Just like Jesus needs God we need God too which is why we need to do our best to get to know Him.

“I cannot do anything on my own” we need to accept this. We believe that if we can’t do it on our own we are weak. We are never alone when we are with God he is always watching and helping us in any way he can we just need to stop saying,”no I can do this myself” because we can’t. We need to start letting God and the Holy Spirit help.

In your life have you really made the decision to have Jesus control your life? This stands out to me because it is so so important for us to have Jesus the center of our life. If we can let Jesus be the center of our life then that is the way we will get to heaven, that is the only way we can get to Him, is by trusting Him and letting Him take us, take control of our lives.

In this Gospel, I believe Jesus is trying to reveal to us that he is equal with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, because is is literally the Son of the living God. When everyone gets mad at Him for breaking the Sabbath, it is actually the Son of God and you’re worried about the sabbath? Like why don’t you acknowledge who’s in front of you and praise and worship him? I ask myself these questions daily because we too also do this and we don’t see him when he is always with us. We receive during Mass and yet we still continue to sin, but he is always going to be there for us.

Something that I got out of this was that we need to be brave, and out there like Jesus about our faith. Many people are scared to say anything about God outside of their churches and families. We need to be able to not be scared to spread the good news to other people. Many people have not heard anything about Jesus due to their family being a different religion, or just isolation from the normal world. There are so many people that we can save by just telling them about the life of Jesus Christ. People might say,”oh I am going to get made fun of,” but that is not the point. Jesus Christ, king of kings died innocent free of sins, the most perfect person in the whole world just because he was saying things that people don’t like. So why should we expect anything different.

In the Gospel Jesus says that he has the power from the Father. And saying that whatever you do to the son you do to the father. This means that what they did to Jesus when they killed him, killed God too. When was the last time you have ever been nice to someone. You may think it’s been a while. Your actions determine who you are now. Who you are now determines what kind of person you are. A Sinner. When Jesus said that whoever does good deeds to the resurrection will be awakened, whoever does no good deeds, will never be awakened but dead. This is your judgement, St. Augustine had a routine of recognizing the actions that he did today, reflecting the good and the bad, and trying to work on the bad. What kind of person are you, the person that gives, loves, and a holy disciple of Christ. Or just the one that makes him/herself feel better than others. Don’t be that kind of person. Do not think you are smarter than God, because no one is better than God. No one can have the power of God. Only Jesus, think about what you are doing. Because you will never know if you are going to be sentenced to death or life. Run to the father, seek him, no one else.

If Jesus lied about being God’s son he is a very bad person and that is why so many people believe him. He wouldn’t lie about something like that and there is no harm that can come from loving God, the worst thing that can happen is he isn’t real but even then at least you were a good person. We only have one life and we need to make the most of it because there isn’t much time left. We should strive to be as close as possible to the Father and love him so much so we can meet him in heaven and live eternally with him.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus talks about how He is the Son of the Father. He tells people “those who have done good deeds
to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation.” If we act as true Catholics or how we were called to act, we will receive eternal life in heaven with God. We also need to believe. If we believe but do not act as Christ told us we will probably not end up with the Father in heaven and same if we don’t believe and don’t act as we are supposed to. It is imperative that we act as we are called to and to serve our neighbor and live our life for God.

I also think this could work with us with our parents as well, because we want them to be proud and we want them to want the best for us and care. I also feel like in this scripture the father and son is God and Jesus.

“I like to change my mind sometimes. Some people change their mind a lot. I like to make decisions and some people have a hard time making decisions.” Today God is telling me that no one is perfect and people aren’t always sure what to pick. That could mean if they should follow God or not, or even something simple like chocolate or vanilla. No one will ever make All of the right choices because we aren’t perfect. We all mae mistakes, some bigger than others, but at the end of the day thats not what matters. What matters if we make the right decision to follow God to help heal those mistakes.

At the start of the Gospel it tells why the Jews are getting angry at Jesus and want to kill him because he is saying that he is the son of the father and they think he is not the son of the father but he really is. The next part he talks about is him doing what he sees the father doing. Jesus sees his father creating the earth and wanting to keep his creation sacred so he is doing that by preaching and telling everyone how to do this. After he says that he wants the son to be honored in the way that his father is honored. I think this is talking about him being in the trinity with the father and the holy spirit and just shows that he had the father are 3 persons in one including the holy spirit. Then he says those who hear the voice will live. I think he is saying that those who follow me and listen to what I say will live with the father forever in the after life just as the father has life in himself. in himself shows that they will spend eternity with him. Then it says that he also gave life in his son this once again shows the Trinity and spending eternity with God and Jesus. Then he gave him the power to exercise judgement. This kind of throws me off because he says he is on equal power but he has power bestowed upon him to make judgement. I don’t think that it is saying that he has bestowed power onto him. I think this is showing that he is just making himself again a third person with power to make judgement. Then he says this is the son of man. Don’t be surprised when he saves and everyone who is trapped in tombs. Those who hear his voice will be saved and go to the father and spend eternity with him. But those who do not hear his voice will go and spend eternity with the devil because they did not want to spend eternity with God. Then he says again that he is here to submit to the will of God.

In this way Jesus tells us that he is God with all the authority and power that comes with it. Jesus is God so he can judge us, but he doesn’t he only looks at us with love and forgiveness. He is always just waiting patiently for you to come to him and when you do He shall have great joy, and his joy will be in you.

I feel like there is a lot of power behind this. He was sent here to do the will of the one who sent him, Not his own. They said that it was horrid for him to say the father was his father. No one man could be equal with God Right? This is why Jesus came to show us the fathers will. The Hebrews were mad at Jesus for no reason, like how we don’t listen to him for no reason. Why did they hate Jesus? Because they didn’t want to believe that Jesus was God because they wanted to be right and they wanted to be God’s only son. But they didn’t want to believe it was Jesus because they thought he was gonna be a king and rule the world with everyone at his feet, but Jesus was the opposite of that and they didn’t wanna be wrong and they didn’t think that a carpenter’s son could do the will of God. We need to do the opposite of what the Hebrews did, we need to praise God and believe in him that he can do anything and that will rule the world with love. We shouldn’t have to let Jesus sacrifice his life just because he loves us. We should want Jesus to come down again so we can praise him and pray WITH him, not so we can beat him, or murder him. We should want him to come down not to sacrifice his life for us, but to help us and love us and when He does come down, we’re going to praise him with Hallelujahs and songs.

Just like the Jewish people we too are blind in a way, like we have a veil over our eyes about the truth. We let that veil that’s covering our eyes tell us a false label about ourselves. We should all learn to accept the gifts that God has given us and use them to help others.

Why did the Hebrews hate Jesus, I understand that he just said that he was equal to God but he just healed a man. Then all of the sudden you guys don’t like him? They should realize that if Jesus is doing all this he truly is the son of God. No one and I mean NO one can walk on water, heal the sick with just words, and more!? So why did they hate him so much. It was obvious from the start he was the one and only God, not a blastamony (idk how to spell it) he is truly the son of God. When Jesus showed up people started to get healed, there were miracles happening, and there was a ton more preaching, all due to Jesus just being present/born. Again it is so obvious who Jesus was, I personally think the Hebrews were dumb to believe that Jesus was not Gods son. All the clues/things led to Jesus being the cause. I really wish the Hebrews weren’t dumb an realized who Jesus truly is/was.

I think today in the Gospel God is telling us that if we have tried very hard not to sin and have good intentions, we will be able to hear God’s voice and go to heaven. If we do not try to avoid sin or have bad intentions, then we will not be able to go to heaven.

“For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.” Today’s Gospel talks about how Jesus confronted the people, saying that he was the Son of God. Nobody believed him. He also said that whatever the Father does, he shows his Son, so that He too many do it. Reading this made me think about my parents and how much they do for me. All of our parents only want the best for us, and they teach us everything we do so that we can be successful once we are adults.

The Gospel talks about submitting ourselves to Jesus. He knows what is best for us, and it is very important that we give ourselves to God instead of brushing him off. He IS the center of our life, and us humans need to realize that. If we submit ourselves to God completely, he will help us get to heaven.

It was the line, “He wants you to be a saint more than you want it yourself.” To me, that’s a little crazy to think about because I do have an intense longing to be a saint. I have that tug in my heart, like I was placed here on this Earth for something more than just simply participating in the Catholic faith and living a life that blends in with everyone else’s. I want to do more for Jesus. I want to give my life to him and show others that their lives belong to him as well. And to think that he wants that for me more than I want it for myself seems crazy because of how much I want to become a saint. He really must will my good if he desires sainthood for me in such a deep and intense way.

The scripture is telling us that Jesus will never forget us. We may think because we sinned that He won’t forgive us, so He forgets us and leaves us alone, but that is not true at all. The scripture says that He will answer us when we call out and help us when we ask for help. If we call out to the Lord when we are in trouble and follow His commandments then we will never feel like He will forget us and not forgive us. He is full of mercy and He is always with us, so we are never truly alone.

We get one chance to prove ourselves to God, we have to show that we are faithful to God and that we love him more than anyone else. We can’t waste life just doing what our society does, that will not bring you happiness, it wont bring you comfort, all it will bring you is sadness and a hole in your heart. To fill that hole you need Jesus. He is the only one that can bring you true happiness. He should be the light in the darkness. Jesus was ridiculed for putting Himself equal to God, but that’s really not what He was doing at all. God acts through His Son. Just like when we’re growing up, we tend to try to do the things we see our parents doing. Jesus does this, but He does His Father’s acts on Earth instead of in Heaven. We are also called to do this. Jesus tells us directly from the Gospel today that those who do good deeds and live for him will be resurrected, but those who do bad deeds and do not follow him will be condemned. We must live life everyday for him. There is a time that we will all die and we do not know when that will be. Some people say they can live for themselves now and later repent, but they do not know their time or hour. We must repent now, stop everything and give our lives to Jesus. I think the gospel is trying to tell us is that we make our own decisions, not others. We always have a choice and there’s always at least one good choice in every decisions you have. We all probably know that, but have we ever thought that other people make there own decisions to. It’s kind of hypocritical when you tell someone you can make your own choices but tell them what to do. Everyone has a choice and you cant make them choose the right one. But what you can do is guide them. No one wants to be bossed around but sometimes we have to. Like if our mom or dad wants us to do something or if our boss gives us a command. You can’t say no or you’ll be in trouble. You might think that might be your only choice but it isn’t. You might have to still clean your room or something, but what matters is what you are going to do after your done. Will you clean another room? Go outside? sit around and do nothing? its up to you. They might all look like good choices in a way but some of them can be bad. Like sitting around, if your tired then its okay, but if your not tired and just don’t want to clean, that’s when it is a bad choice. If you want a good choice then listen to God for he knows the right path.

A lot of us want God the father to work in us but don’t let him work. How is God supposed to work in us if we don’t have the humility to open up to him and let him do so. When I served today Fr. Jarrod also talked about everything from the father, goes to the son just like how God went into human form and became Jesus. We (the son) speak through God (the father) and when we don’t let God in our heart, mind, and soul he is unable to speak through and with us.

I mean it also sounds like we are trying to get even with Jesus, what I mean by that I mean equally with him. It’s saying that our father loves us no matter what we do because God is pure light, pure love and pure kindness to others. We should honor our Son because if we don’t honor the Son, we don’t honor the actual real living Messiah. Nobody can do anything without God because God is amazing. Because with God anything is possible, but without him you can’t do anything without him. Jesus died for you loves you, and most importantly he saved you from the powers of hell that he tells us we don’t deserve. This is why we should thank him everyday for our blessing and give us light and life and for giving another day to worship thank and praise. Let’s look up to God!! Our Role Model!! In today’s Gospel, God is trying to tell us that Jesus is equal to the Father, God. It’s sort of similar to how a father treats his son. If a father teaches his son about Christ, being kind to others, and resembling an example for others and actually acts like those aforementioned attributes, then so will his son. We must also act like that to others. If we are kind to others and selfless, then other people may pick up on our good deeds and follow our ways.

God has a plan for us, and as a faithful, omniscient, and loving father, we must listen to him. We must discern his call to our vocation, so that we may be wrapped in God’s grace and forever praise him in Heaven when we pass.

In today’s gospel it talks about, with Jesus, there is something we must make up our mind on and stick to it,in our hearts and in our minds we must choose the right decision and stick with God,to show love towards God and to sacrifice for him like Jesus sacrificed his love for us.

“I can not do anything on my own” This part is important because to be able to do anything we always need Jesus by our side.
