“HE TOLD HIS DISCIPLES TO HAVE A BOAT READY FOR HIM BECAUSE OF THE CROWD, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT CRUSH HIM.” MK 3:7-12

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus withdrew toward the sea with his disciples.
A large number of people followed from Galilee and from Judea.
Hearing what he was doing,
a large number of people came to him also from Jerusalem,
from Idumea, from beyond the Jordan,
and from the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon.
He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd,
so that they would not crush him.
He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases
were pressing upon him to touch him.
And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him
and shout, “You are the Son of God.”
He warned them sternly not to make him known. MK 3:7-12

Why do people desire Jesus? On the surface, because he heals them. Spiritually, he has mercy on them as a sinner and frees them from sin. More deeply though, He has what we want, POWER! Lucifer, the fallen angel, the most powerful angel wanted that power more than anything and could not have it. God has given us His Power in the Holy Spirit to do great things on this earth with love. God’s love is the most powerful thing in the universe and He gave it to us by giving us life and the Holy Spirit!

Today, Lucifer continues to seek and destroy love wherever he can, especially marriage and the family is under attack. We want to control everything in our lives and we are so upset when our plans don’t work out. We are upset when we can’t control people in our relationships and make them do what we want. Power when used incorrectly is about popularity or status, wealth, strength, high positions, awards, and achievement.

It is not bad to achieve when we use the gifts God has blessed us with to the best of our ability with love to share with others. St. Teresa of Calcutta said, “It does not matter how much we accomplish, but how much we love.” The problem is when we obsess over it, work too many hours and leave our families behind, miss Mass for weekend sports tournaments, and have to go into extreme debt to keep up a fake life of wealth to keep up our status. Mother Teresa said, “In the end, it is always between you and God.”

Jesus has done an amazing job of revealing Himself to us in the last 3 weeks. He comes to us as a baby, completely innocent, poor, and humble. He is revealed at the Epiphany and worshiped by earthly kings recognizing Him as the one who has all of the POWER and is the one True King. God, with this power, does not hold it over our heads and use it against us, He gave it to us and gave Himself to us, so we may share in this power which is love. Love is not to be kept to ourselves but given away.

He is adored by the shepherds who were told by angels that God is on earth to bring peace to His people. Zechariah and Anna reveal at the presentation in the temple, “This child will be responsible for the rise and fall of many in Israel”. Mary’s heart is pierced which begins a sorrowful and suffering heart that recognizes the most POWERFUL will have to suffer and die to REDEEM all sinners.

Then, John the Baptist speaks prophetic words, “Behold, the Lamb of God”. God speaks from the heavens and says, “This is my beloved Son of whom I am well pleased”. Now, we enter into Jesus’s healing ministry in the Gospel of Mark. This is to fulfill prophecies from the Old Testament about a Messiah who will come to save His people. It is to draw people to Him. But, most importantly it is to teach us how to use POWER correctly, by SERVING and HUMILITY. Jesus uses the greatest power to serve. He uses it to love. He uses it to have compassion on others.

Most importantly, we struggle with POWER every day of our lives. If we truly desire God in our hearts, we must let go of all of our power and submit to the ONE POWER that can make us the most joyful in this life and the next. Our identity is in the GREATEST POWER through His death and resurrection, we are made in His image and likeness, we are baptized into His family and become His child, through the blood of Christ we become His brother or sister, the GREATEST POWER lives in us in the Holy Spirit and is given to us in the SACRAMENTS.

God’s grace is His life in us. This is why the saints went to Mass daily sometimes more and to confession sometimes daily or weekly. They recognized how POWERLESS they were and how much POWER God had to help them be holy and fight Satan. God desires nothing more than to give you His love and grace. Our greatest POWER is living to be the person God made us to be and sharing that with others.

God’s love is the most POWERFUL thing in the world. It conquered sin and death. It overcomes evil and darkness in our world. It forgives and is for giving. It heals. It changes lives and creates lives. Most importantly, God’s POWER is LOVE. There is no greater POWER than God’s LOVE in all the world. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends!” JN 15:13

NOTHING has ever beat God’s LOVE!!! Our POWER is pale in comparison to God’s POWER. We will be held accountable by this POWER on judgment day. At some point we are going to have to submit to the POWER that created us, it would be smart not to let that be our death bed.

It would also be wise to humbly submit to Him, give Him everything, visit Him daily in prayer, invite Him into our daily activities and especially our temptations, visit His mother daily and ask for her help since He told us to from the Cross, receive Him at Mass, and share Him with others by modeling Him in our lives being who we were created to be.

Why do people desire Jesus and want to get so close to Him and crush Him? Holiness is attractive. He is the Way to our heavenly home, our hearts greatest desire. He gives us our identity. What we have been searching for! He gives us the POWER to get there and the joy is overwhelming.

Today’s challenge: Make a habit of getting up early in the morning to spend time with Jesus to make Him the center of your life, not just a part of your life. Give up yourself totally and completely to Him through Mary and everything you own. Allow Him to have power over you, so that you have power over the Devil and your desires.

Be a servant, be a saint today!

we must drop our electronics because it holds power over us. to stop trying to live a livestyle that wasnt made for us
to drop the fake wealth and to gain true love with God. that is all we need to make it to heaven. we can still grow old with one you love and to have a family but we cant forget the one who created us.

today Jesus goes out and heals many. This gains a large following of people and sick and wounded were following him. They felt that if they touched him they would be healed. This is awesome because God heals all of us. He loves us and sent his only son to die for us. He sent Jesus to heal ALL of us.

Jesus is calling everyone to do His father’s will and people come to Him because He heals them. We want everything to go our way but that just doesn’t happen. God has given us our strengths and we must use them to praise Him so we can get to eternal peace in heaven. Earthly, physical things do not matter. The only thing that matters is getting to heaven. God has a purpose for us and we must ask Him and seek what our purpose is. During the Christmas season we realize that Jesus was not famous or popular by any means. He was humble and stooped down on our level. He calls everyone; not the rich but the poor who need Him. We all need Jesus and we always will need him.

They way the devil gets us and strips us away from Jesus is kinda wierd. Its through over obessing over everyday things. Money, everyone has it and uses it, but its a sin when we over obsess over it. Same with technology, or really over obsessing over anything besides God. We need to strive to see and be in the presesnce of God.

The things we love our taking the place of God. Which is making us distance from him and we won’t know who he is and his name when our time comes. So with our time here live your life striving with God following his path and we will live correctly and in joy.

“He warned them sternly not to make him known.” This phrase stuck out to me because Jesus doesn’t want to be a celebrity. He wants to be quiet but only speaks to His people. He wants others to follow Him but He doesn’t want to be well known. He wants people to love Him but doesn’t want people to love Him because its the right thing to do. He wants us to love Him in our own free will not through someone else. He wants to get to know us and love us. He wants you to spread the word but not force others to love Him. He wants to get to know them by who they are not through you.

Life is weird. We think we know everything there is to know, but we don’t. We fantasize about magic, or superpowers, or control. I’ve learned that wishing for these things simply makes what you have less valuable. The only way to really appreciate what you have, is to not have it. To fast, abstain. That is what prayer is about. If you spend more time with God, or your family, you will realize that what you held in such high regard, like your xbox, or playstation, will become so much less valuable! You will know that you are only happy, or fulfilling with family, with your siblings, with friends! Power is what we crave, so we try so much to be the best at something. The only way that we can be happy is to be with people! People with actual souls, and love.

I think today Jesus is telling us God’s love is greater than all things. It’s greater than video games, social media, sports greater than everything. We need to realize that God loves us so much and always will but in order to have a relationship with him we have to love him just as much as He loves us and seek him.

1/18/24 A crowd of people praise and worship God but only few deepens their relationship with him. But the message is clear, even though Jesus needs rest he still continues to give time for us. Thus, we should always desire to deepen our relationship with God. Are we ready to give time to Him?

When we come off our devices we can see the world clearer. We can socialize and talk to Jesus and have a conversation with him. When we get off our devices we can become better people and socialize with others. If we could all put down our devices we could all become overall better people. If we can all do it even for just a little bit we can do a lot better.

The scripture said to me we need to not be selfish and we need to sacrifice. Sacrifice anything to get closer to God and Jesus. Jesus sacrificed himself to die for us on the cross. The least we can do is sacrifice to get closer to our savior. Just like the scripture said our greatest POWER is living to be the person God made us to be and sharing that with others. That means that God has called us to live in his world and believe in him.

Something thing that I got from this is we can’t be a “half christian”, we can’t have half of us in, and half of us out. We have to be all in on Jesus, this is so important for us, and I am guilty of this. I am addicted to social media, like TikTok, and Snapchat, and it is hard to do, it will not be easy to do it, but that is the devil trying to tell you that you need them, and we need to ignore those thoughts, and follow Jesus.

I believe that this scripture means that back when there was no electronics or social media, people were actually following the way of God. Now, everybody wants to go home and go on their phone or play video games. We should be looking forward to going home, not because of our pleasures or things we enjoy, but because we want to spend time with Jesus. Jesus sacrificed so much for us- His life! And we just go home and pay no mind to Him! We need to love and appreciate all He has done for us.

We need to recognize that power is not our calling. God did not put us into this world to be the most liked and most popular and best looking, He put us here to Love and be loved. That is our generic purpose. But we also have an individual purpose, which we have to pray about and find out. We have to also remember it is not our will, not our plan, but God’s plan for us.

Recently I’ve just been trying to find that one person who I won’t change a thing about myself for. Will it be my best friend, a parent, a grandparent? I don’t know. I feel like I don’t know who I am for real when I’m by myself. It wasn’t until I started going to youth group and adoration that I realized how much I liked myself when I was simply with Christ.

He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him.
People were so excited to meet Jesus that they were running. they dropped everything to see him. Its like any Christmas movie, everyone rushes to the store flipping tables to get a toy. thats how much people wanted Jesus

I am holding myself back from being the person I can be. I think a certain way because I don’t want to do something. I can be who I want to be if I express it. Jesus expressed Himself on the cross and I need to express myself while I carry my own cross like Jesus did I needed to show my kindness and love on my sleeve. I can show I am Christian better than I am and express my love to God better.

Jesus is all that we need. Whether you accept this or not defines the path of your life. Hard truths live up to their names they are hard to acknowledge and accept. Why is it so hard not to sin against a man who gave His own life for you? We are human. We were meant to sin but that doesn’t mean that you should lose hope God wants our love that all He wants from us not gold or jewels our love is the only thing we can give Him. So let’s give it to Him.

What it’s saying is that Jesus went to Galilee and a huge group of people followed him because they love him and are inspired by him. Jesus has done so much for us in our lives and sometimes we act like we don’t even care or thank him for all of the amazing things that he has done for us.

In life we just have to love God with all our heart and trust in God.

We cannot let anything get in the way of the relationship between God and a person. We cannot be lukewarm in our faith. We have to put all our effort in and try our best. Jesus was popular, and if he was alive today He would still be popular. It is not everyday that someone claims to be God, and backing it up with miracles. Jesus was so incredibly popular He had to stand on a boat because the land was so crowded with people just wanting to see Him. The reason Jesus is so popular is because holiness is attractive, it pulls people up and Jesus loves to do that. He loves pulling people up He loves making people happy and holy.

They were the first humans to be free of original sin, but they were also the last. We believe that the world will be wiped out by a meteor or a different object from space. We are so sure of that that we have developed spiritual tunnel vision. We have been slowly destroying our planet day by day of the last 10,000 years. Our consumpsion of the natural resources that earth provides has only snowballed in the last 300 years. We are the harbingers of doom, not the meteors or the comets or any other extraterrestrial object. We have been so sure that we have not even looked in the mirror to see the true monster.
