Prayer Prompt before reading JN 6:35-40: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“THE BREAD THAT I WILL GIVE IS MY FLESH FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD.” JN 6:51

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

“I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.” Jn 6:44-51

God is found in communion. God is love and we are a result of Him overflowing with love. We are a result of love. Love wills the good of the other and does something about it. God is love and ALWAYS wills our good. Adam and Eve broke this love by not trusting, so God set out to reconcile Himself with His creation.

He does this through a sacrificial meal. The Old Testament sacrificial meal comes to us at Passover. God instructed Moses and the people to eat bitter herbs (to remind them of their bitter slavery) and unleavened bread (they were in a hurry to get away so they did not have time to let the bread rise), and a roasted lamb (daubed the blood on the doorposts so the angel of death would pass over their homes). God later feeds them with manna in the desert.

The new sacrificial meal or new Passover is Jesus Christ. Isaiah prophesies that “He will be like a sheep led to slaughter.” Today, Jesus teaches us He is the bread of life and we must eat His Flesh to have eternal life. Jesus has made a host for us everyday. Go to Mass as often as possible and be in full communion with God.

This is the way God has chosen to give Himself to us from the Last Supper until He returns. When we receive Him our venial sins are forgiven, we are united totally and completely with Him, we are given grace to fight serious sin, we grow in charity toward our neighbor, and we are given the gift to anticipate heaven where love dwells! Most importantly, as Bishop Robert Barron puts it, “Jesus just wants to be our friend. He wants to set around the supper table and have a great conversation.” The supper table is the altar, God calls all of us together to it each Sunday, and Jesus feeds our souls for the journey. Thank you, Jesus!

Today’s challenge: Allow Jesus to be your friend! Talk to Him every day about everything. There is nothing more that He wants than to be your best friend. How do you develop a friendship? Spend time with them. Find a place to make a habit of spending time talking to Jesus and learning about Him in the Scriptures. Read one of the 4 Gospels all of the way through. It will only take a few minutes each day of your time and it might be the biggest conversion experience you will ever have.

I think that Jesus is trying to tell us that he is the one God so don’t be worshiping other gods and if you do that is a mortal sin. He is also telling us that we are going to have to eat his body that turns into bread and wine that turns into his blood and he will always be there for you no matter what we do.

Love is what we are. God loves us. He made us to love. Love is who we are meant to be. Love means to have affection for something or someone, just like we should love God. So go, love the people around you, and love Go with all your heart, soul, and mind.

In the gospel today, Jesus is talking to the crowds. He tells them that in order to get to heaven and to live life to the fullest, they need to get to the Father. He then says that the only way to get to the Father is to get to Him through Himself. He then tells them that this is what they must do, because “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.” Jesus is telling us to trust and to follow Him because He knows what is best for us because He is God Himself, come down from heaven. So we need to listen and to follow Him.

Jesus says today “I am the living bread that came down from heaven”, he is the bread of life and the only one who can get us into heaven by receiving his body and blood during communion so we can have eternal life with him in heaven.

Something that I got out of this was that we are the apostles in this Gospel. When Jesus tells all these other people, and they all leave and say that he is weird, what do we do when the world turns on us. In John 15 18-20 it says”if the world hates you realize it hated me first, if you were of this world they you take you as their own, but since you are not of this world, they do not.” This bible verse is such a great reminder that we are not supposed to be of this world, we are simply just waiting until we get our calling from God to live in everlasting happiness with him.

In today’s Gospel these words stuck out to me: “I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die.” These words talk about the very meaning of the Mass and Jesus’s flesh
that we eat at Mass. Protestants don’t believe in the real presence but we do and we should live out our faith by Stewardship, Prayer, and Going to Mass on all Sundays.

” God is found in Communion” this stands out to me because it shows that God truly is present in the Mass, in us, and in the bread and wine. Jesus is in everything and He will always be with us a guide us, He has a plan for us and all we have to do is let Him have our lives. He is good.

Jesus gives them an example of bread from heaven with the manna in the desert, but they died because they did not believe it came from the father. Jesus says that they need bread from heaven to connect with the father and stay with him forever. Jesus then says that he is the bread from heaven that they need to find God. He is not only seriously saying that he is the bread that they need because he is the Eucharist and we need the Eucharist, but he is also symbolically saying that he is the bread by the word. We also need the word and the hope to get back to the father. Jesus fulfills both of these needs but people become really freaked out by this. They thought he was crazy for saying that they needed to eat him. They thought he was cannibalistic. To be fair if I hadn’t known him or his miracles or anything I would’ve thought he was crazy to. We now know that we need him to get to him in the next life.

Today Jesus says that he is the bread of life and that anyone who eats of the bread of life will have eternal life. This is the teaching that has kept the Catholic Church alive for 2000 years it is what separates us from all other religions and it is the key to heaven. God knows that what he is teaching is hard to listen to and follow but we know that all things are possible through God so whenever you are suffering ask God for the strength to get past whatever is causing you to worry or stress. God can do all things and I find it rediculous that not everyone is Catholic so they can get the help from God that they need.

In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “whoever believes has eternal life.” Jesus says this a lot throughout the Gospels but what makes the Gospel today different from the others is that Jesus also says, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.” People were startled by this and didn’t really know how to respond. Some left and stopped listening to Him but Jesus said this because He was giving us the Eucharist and the Mass. Jesus was giving us Him to be saved.

Today Jesus is telling us exactly Who He is and exactly what He is going to do in life. He says that if you see Me and listen to Me you will see God. He also talks about how He will rise from the dead. We believe that Jesus’ body and blood are present at Mass. When we go to Mass we need to take that seriously that Jesus is present in the Eucharist. God gives us and shows His love for us when we receive the Eucharist. Also when we receive communion our venial sins are forgiven which can lead us to live a holy life and get closer to God.

Jesus states that he is THE BREAD OF LIFE. Many people today think that this is cannibalism because it’s human flesh. Not really, Jesus doesn’t give himself to us physically. At mass when we receive him we think this is Jesus. We don’t even think this IS Jesus. Like God a king came down just so we can receive him. This is huge. God wanted us to believe in him so that we have life. Before when people did or did not believe went to hell because Heaven had no path from Earth. The reason why Jesus is the BREAD OF LIFE is because he is the one that LEADS us to life. He is why we have a life after life. He made the end, our beginning. A place where we can be with him, pray with him, and serve with him. Jesus is life, Jesus is the Lamb that was slaughtered to save us. If we don’t believe in this we don’t have life, even though the Catechism states that “if we are not baptized and yet follow commandments of good, we will have eternal salvation”. So yes there is mercy God is giving to people baptized or not. But we got to do our part as a Catholic and believe and receive.

Come Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, “I am the bread of life”, this phrase is the one I really really really need to follow. I feel that sometimes I fall away from God and then when I go to mass I just don’t understand what it is about, then I hear this phrase in the back of my mind and remember that God is the one I go to mass for to be close to him till I can join him in heaven.

“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes has eternal life.” Whoever believes in God has eternal life in Heaven with him. All it takes is for us to believe and for us to trust God.
    “I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;” This one talks about how Jesus is the living bread, and he is called “living bread” because the eucharist is Jesus’s body. The Holy Spirit is with you when you take the eucharist so that’s why the line is, eat this bread and you will live forever.

“God is love and we are a result of Him overflowing with love. We are a result of love.” Today God is telling me that we need to stop being people that make people not want to show up to anything and to start being people that gives other a reason. We all have said something rude about someone but that’s okay because we aren’t perfect, but what’s not okay is thinking you can do that. People grow off of people, so of course if a bunch of people say that you hair looks bad, the next day they will show up with something different. We go off of others opinion all of the time, but we don’t do it for us, we do it so nothing gets said about us. You will probably hear people tearing people down than people complimenting people. That’s sad that we are so used to saying things about people that we just do it before we even think. We can not talk bad about others for we are imperfect too. Not just that but its mean, people say if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it at all, but look to the left of me someone is talking about how bad her hair looks, and to the right of me someone is talking about how she talks, behind me someone is talking about how ugly their shoes are and even Infront of me someone is talking about how dumb a person is. It’s everywhere. We shouldn’t put others down. It won’t bring us up any and in fact it will tear you down. We should never compare, and look if you don’t like something then either walk away or just keep your mouth shut. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t either. Bring each other up for we are all perfect in the eye of God.

The Lord talks about being the bread of life and when we think about this more we think about the mass. When i was younger I used to think it was gross but now that I am older i understand it’s a beautiful thing and a blessing to have a God that would do that for us. At the mass the Lord turns the bread into the body and the wine into blood. It’s a miracle! Thinking about this and how much God loves us and how blessed i am that I get to go to mass and receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ is so amazing. When we receive him we are one with Him, one in the Holy Spirit, one in God, it is really a surreal thing.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is revealing the truth to the people He is talking to. Those people are like us, most of them left Jesus because they thought He was crazy, and we can be like that sometimes. Sometimes I can be lazy and just don’t want to do anything, and prayer is definitely something I wouldn’t want to do at that moment. But we can’t be like that, we have to strive to love God and by doing that, we must pray.

We shall be taught by what God does and not what our friends do. If we are taught stuff by our friends that aren’t God’s will, they shouldn’t teach us again. If we are taught bad stuff by our teachers, we shouldn’t learn from them again. We are taught by only one person, God. He shall be the one to teach us how to reach heaven. Not by some people that think war is the only way to reach heaven and the only thing God wants us to do. No, God wants us to be peaceful and go to heaven by following what he ACTUALLY says and does. Not what some random people say. Don’t listen to the word of God unless it is from God or someone close to God.

Jesus says we must eat his flesh and drink his blood. This is the Eucharist. If a human that was not also fully told us to do that it would be gruesome. Jesus is not only human though. The Eucharist is our life and our salvation given to us from Jesus. It is how we do the impossible.

“Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God,” this stuck out to me today. It is all true. We have no idea what the father looks like. But if we worry about what he looks like we have a problem. We are all created in his image we all have aspects of the father in us. This showed us that we have to take care of our body but be sure to not beat down on someone else’s body because of how they look. So even if someone is a little mean we have to love them. If someone is so on so “ugly” we have to love them. The Lord told us today how much he loved us we have to carry that love on.

He is the unblemished lamb who died for our sins. A perfect man who was crucified and died for the sake of the world. He knows not everyone will listen and believe in Him, but He does it anyway our of love.

“Jesus just wants to be our friend. He wants to set around the supper table and have a great conversation.”
“Allow Jesus to be your friend! It will only take a few minutes each day of your time and it might be the biggest conversion experience you will ever have.”
Jesus WANTS to be our friend. but sometimes we don’t let him… we need to let him be our friend, not just a friend a best friend, a father that we can talk to every day, share our secrets with him! he wants us to spend time with him. we all need to spend time with our friends especially Jesus and God. we can talk to him through prayer, just taking to him, and most important of all having bible time with him. we know we can spend time with him. he is our best friend

Today Jesus says that he is the bread of life and that anyone who eats of the bread of life will have eternal life. This is the teaching that has kept the Catholic Church alive for 2000 years it is what separates us from all other religions and it is the key to heaven. Our religion isn’t just faith. He stated that everyone who listens to his Father and learns from him comes to him. He said that only those who are from God have seen the Father. Jesus said that whoever believes has eternal life and that he is the bread of life. He compared the manna eaten by his ancestors to the living bread that comes down from heaven, ensuring that those who eat it will live forever. “The bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.” I really like this line from today’s Gospel because (as Geortz mentioned) it reflects onto the Eucharist. For a long time (well kinda long, in the grand scheme of things, I’m only 15) the Eucharist was just the little white piece of bread that I ate at mass every Sunday and at school. I think we all at least know that the Eucharist is Jesus’ flesh, but having that head knowledge is so much more different than the heart knowledge. I gained that heart knowledge last year, after going through a section on the mass and Eucharist with Mr. Geortz. And since then, I’ve fallen so deeply in love with the Eucharist and it’s absolutely the best part of my day when I get the chance to go to the mass and receive Him.

This line stuck out to me because I think it is really important. I have friends who would just say that this is another one of Jesus’ teachings or just a metaphor, but who I am as a Catholic Christian means that I truly believe in the Eucharist as a miraculous change of bread. This line just hit me as truly amazing today.

Whenever we take the Eucharist into our hands and sin filled bodies, its a reminder of him dying for us. God loves us and his body washes over us as we digest the Eucharist. We need to be more respectful when it comes to these things. So why don’t we live for Jesus all the time? Because we are embarrassed, we are embarrassed of what others will think of us, we are embarrassed of our popularity status. In this Gospel, Jesus says that he is the bread of life, and whoever eats him will not die. This “bread” can be found in the Eucharist, the very one we eat at Mass. The Eucharist is the Body of Christ and is consecrated so that we could live eternally in Heaven when our Earthly life is over. We must be grateful and unified when we eat the Eucharist, as it is a shared meal with God. God sent his only Son to die on the cross so that we may have eternal life! Jesus crushed our sins and gave us the Eucharist and Confession, two things that can renew our lives! We must take some time to thank God for sending down Jesus to die for us. Jesus is in the Eucharist so that he can be in our bodies and renew us!
