Prayer Prompt before reading LK 15:1-10 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“THIS MAN WELCOMES SINNERS AND EATS WITH THEM.” LK 15:1-10

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, “Jesus teaches us that God is not very economical,” says Bishop Barron. Who in their right mind would leave 99 to gain 1? God’s grace can’t be earned, its a gift and He can use it how He wants. How does a sinner receive this grace?

Allowing Jesus into your boat, recognizing our sinfulness, humbly approaching the One who is love, mercy, and justice. As Bishop Barron says, “The Gospel is about detachment”. We are called to repent and change our lives by looking at life in a completely different way. We are called to be holy.

Do we desire holiness? When we take steps to avoid the near occasion of sin by coming to God’s mercy and choosing His Will with our effort until the sin is no longer a part of our life.  This may also require medicine, doctors, and counselors with God’s grace in confession.

The opposite is the one who thinks they never sin or tries to rationalize their sin and does not reconcile themselves with God.  One who does not desire holiness or is blinded by their pride/ego. I believe each human struggles with a little bit of both.

In the act of contrition, we pray to “avoid the near occasion of sin”. Often times we forget this once we get back into the routine of life.  Habits are important to pay attention to.  We may need to change a routine we are in, a place we go, people we hang out with, or today an electronic device we use too much (what is the purpose of the device? It is a device to use to lead us to God, not a device to get addicted to or lead us to sin).

God gave us life as a gift out of love, our identity is in Him.  Jeremy Driscoll says, “I am loved, therefore I am.” We are created out of love. We do not exist and our lives have no meaning without this love. Our Father destined us before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him, redeemed by His Son’s holy blood in a covenant that required sacrifice, and sealed us in His Holy Spirit (Eph 1:1-14) This is our identity and we stop living it, when we sin.

When we celebrate all saint’s day and all soul’s day, we learn that we are made to see God face to face at the end of our journey through the death and resurrection of Christ in baptism.  We have a high calling. We must learn to “avoid the near occasion of sin” by forming ourselves in knowledge of God and daily habits that lead us to God and His grace not away from Him.

We are called to rise above with God’s grace and cooperating with His Will. Our souls, our being, is a precious gift from God and He wills for us to come back to Him. He calls us to make our will His Will to return His love.  Pope Francis says, “God never tires of giving mercy, we tire of asking for it.” Repent, you have an entire heaven full of angels and saints waiting to rejoice!

Most importantly, God’s one desire is your friendship. He sent His only Son to die for it. God wants a relationship with you. Our sin is a failure in relationships. We are made for relationships. Our sin stems from a failure in our relationship with God, our own flesh, or another person. When we sin we fail in one of these relationships.

Think about who you are hurting next time you are about sin. We all need to learn and practice forgiveness because we will certainly fail in our relationships. They are difficult. With God’s grace and love transforming us, we too can share this love to build healthy relationships with others.

Key tip: If you want to avoid the near occasion of sin, fill yourself with God’s life (sacraments). We can receive the Eucharist daily and go to confession as often as needed. The saints were experts in receiving these sacraments. Pray with the Scriptures developing a personal relationship with God. Sit in silence and write a journal. Ask Mary to lead you to her Son, pray the rosary meditating on the mysteries of Jesus and Mary’s lives.

Adore God in Adoration. Read a spiritual book each day. We can’t earn heaven, it is a gift. We are transformed by God’s grace, so bring yourself to His grace all throughout the day, then you will find yourself yearning for God and time to spend with Him. You will find yourself avoiding the near occasion of sin because you no longer want to hurt your best friend!

Today’s challenge: Repent.  Baby steps start one day at a time and come to God’s grace in the Eucharist and confession daily if needed.  The saints often came to these two sacraments daily. Clothe yourself with Christ.

Be a servant, become a saint!

“How does a sinner receive this grace? Allowing Jesus into your boat, recognizing our sinfulness, humbly approaching the One who is love, mercy, and justice.” This stood out to me because this is the only way to be completely full of happiness and faith. By allowing Jesus into your boat, you give up everything that is metaphorically keeping Him from entering the boat (your life).

“THIS MAN WELCOMES SINNERS AND EATS WITH THEM.” LK 15:1-10. This stood out to me because Jesus is saying that a man welcomes and eats with sinners. Another reason why this stood out to me is because for me it is saying that even when we sin Jesus will always welcome us and he will always eat with us no matter what we have done.

This is saying that even if we are the most terrible sinner, God’s love will save us and he will rejoice as long as we let him work through us.

In Today’s Gospel, Pharisees are saying Jesus shouldn’t be sitting with the sinner and tax collectors, but we know that Jesus will always accept us no matter what. Sometimes the devil will make you think that He would never accept you and He will never love you, but this will literally never be true. Always love Jesus and be with Him until the end, for He will be with you. God is love straight through, and cannot not love, so why would He make an exception for you.

This gospel told me that Jesus’ love for us goes farther than we can comprehend. Sometimes we can all feel unloved, like when our parents yell at us, our friends are ignoring us, or even when we don’t feel like loving ourselves. Jesus will always be there to make up for all the love you feel like your missing, he would go as far as to leave 99 to find you. “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” this line was telling me that Jesus will welcome you with sin on your soul, but repentance in your heart. You could be the best person and have barley any sin, but if you don’t have repentance then you wouldn’t be welcome to eat with Jesus. Something that’s always stuck with me is “One sin doesn’t define you” and that reminds me of this gospel.

“I tell you, in just the same way
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
    than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.”
This stuck out to me because it’s saying that if you keep repenting for your sins you will find eternal life with God but if you don’t, you won’t have eternal life. (<–in my words) (Lord i ask that you lead everyone's soul here to you, that everyone meets you in heaven. That anyone who has been wrong will find you, will know what they did is wrong, and that everything will turn out well for them.
May Jesus bless us all and grant us eternal life with him.) They people in the Gospel today were doubters but Jesus didn't treat them any differently. Always be kind to others and if you don't please ask for forgiveness. May Jesus bless you.

in today’s Gospel the pharisees were angry at Jesus because He eats and talks to sinners, Jesus welcomes everyone especially sinners. it’s greater when a sinner repents for what he has done, than a man who has no need to repent and is welcomed into heaven straight away. A sinner was in battle, repenting his sins trying to get to heaven.

Today in the Gospel, Jesus tells us that no matter how much you sin, no matter what you look like, what you wear, what you eat, what you listen to, everyone is welcome into the Kingdom of God. This is a good lesson to remember because it is true. God created YOU to be YOU. He didn’t create you so you could change what you like just to fit in. He created you so you could a) get to Heaven b) love one another. We are called to help each other get to Heaven. That is the true reason why we have the opportunity to come and live on Earth. Earth is like a practice for what we were really called for. Heaven!

I think the phrase “Think about who you are hurting next time you are about to sin.” tells us that not only are we hurting ourselves morally and our soul when we sin, but we also chip away at our relationship with God. He will always love us but he needs to know if you love him through how we act on a day to day basis. Like how we treat others, time we take of our day to pray and worship God, and through what we own and how we act.

Today in the scripture I learned that even if I was the only one Jesus had to die for he would still do it. “There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.” One sinner who gives there life to Christ is a greater accomplishment than 99 people who deserve to be in heaven. None of us “deserves” heaven for what we have done but only because Jesus Christ died for us.

He calls us all together at church and we pray with him and rejoice with him he will love us no matter what and that shows just how much faith he has in us even if we fall he will pick us back up and love us.

I really like when it said “Allowing Jesus into your boat”. We need to change our persectives on life and view it in a completely different way. Use our devices as a way to lead us towards God and not get us addicted and turned away from him. Hanging out with people that bring us closer to God and bring out the best in us. We are called to repent and change our lives.

Going back to allowing Jesus in our boat, Gods grace can not be earned, its a gift. When we take steps to avoid stepping away from Him and doing things that lead us in the other direction, we are choosing God’s mercy with our effort until the sin is no longer a part of our life.

He will guide us into the Catholic faith to help convert or to start believing in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He will then bring us to his house and we will celebrate. Even though Jesus has thousands and thousands of followers if you’re lost and can’t find Jesus He will always go out and find you.
Jesus’s love is never ending and He will never leave you even if you fall into sin over and over again. Jesus accepts and loves everyone even if they are lost. To be the 1 lost sheep is to sin and lose hope. Jesus comforts you when you’re lonely and think that there is no on left for you to turn to. Jesus is the one person who is always there no matter who turns away from you, Jesus could never do that to you.

In today’s Gospel there are two parables with similar meanings. It helps show how much God loves each one of us individually. When people say that God would die on the cross if you were the only person in the world this Gospel clearly shows this. It illustrates that God came into the world not for the already righteous, but the ones in need of his mercy. Many of his apostles were anything but perfect. This is why he came.

We have relationships with not just other people, but with God as well. That is the one thing God wants from us and each sin is a failure in our relationship. So the next time you’re about to sin, think about the people you will hurt by committing that sin. Even if you’ve sinned, you can always ask God for forgiveness. Ask and you shall receive.

He will always look for no matter how far away or how close, he will look for both no matter what and he will value us when He finds. We are lucky that he will as ways be waiting for us to find him ourselves, since He will always be there.

Jesus is referring to us as his lost sheep and how we need to find our way home. He is saying in the Gospel today that He will leave the 99 just so He can find us. Jesus told us that even if we were the only person on earth he would still love us and die on the cross for just your sin. Jesus loves us very much.

today in the Gospel Jesus talks about the parable about the lost sheep I believe the lost sheep is the on who has turned from God and dosent know where to go anymore Jesus goes and looks for to bring you back to his grace and when he does find and you turn back he rejoices as the gospel says “And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joyhe calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.'” that shows us Jesus loves us all and he will look for us.

Today’s gospel talks about searching for the lost sheep. Jesus wants a relationship with every one of us. There is not a single person on this Earth that Jesus would not have died for. Jesus knows everyone of us and wants to invite us to his eternal banquet. Its just a matter of if we want to seek out that relationship with him. Jesus will always be there with open arms but will you seek him?

God goes as far as leaving 99 to find you. when we fall away from God we know He will reach out his hand and pick us up again.

You should allow Jesus into your boat. Because if you don’t, your boat will sink. If you only ask, but not worship, your boat will end with holes. These holes are your wrongs. But, if you let him into your boat, it will stay afloat, and you have gained a new best friend.

Today Jesus, Preaches to the tax collectors and other sinners. He is trying to bring them closer to himself and the father. he explains this to the Pharisees thought the parable of the lost sheep. The Shepard leaves the 99 to search for the one who is lost. This is what God does for us, he loves so much there is no length that he won’t go to to bring you back to him. When that happens, it is a cause for celebration.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us the very well-known parable of The Lost Sheep. In this parable, he describes that in a flock of one-hundred sheep, one went lost and the shepherd searched for the lost sheep. When he found his lost sheep, in joyous arms he carried the sheep back home.

In life, we sometimes drift away from our faith, indulging in worldly pleasures. The world moves fast and media today is secular. The social norm today is living your life out, not living as a disciple of God. Many sheep have drifted away from Jesus’s pen, but Jesus will take his time to search everyone of us so that he, with joyous arms, can return us back safely to his domain and rejoice. Let us run back to the Father and be in his state of grace, because no matter how many times we get lost from his pen, God will always be searching for us and will welcome us back in joyous arms.

In the gospel today, the message that I got was that God loves all his children. In the gospel today, Jesus said that one sinner who repents will be rejoiced for more than 99 sinners who have no need for repentance. This tells me that no matter what we do, we will never be able to not be loved by God, he will always love us no matter what and we should love him too.

God tells me today that we are big and we matter. I personally would not clean the whole house and look everywhere for one coin. I would move on and if I find it great. But Jesus is the person to look and look. So I see it this way Jesus is sooo grateful for all of us that he will look and look for us to find us when we get lost in sin. Now just a coin we may not be as grateful for that in today’s society. So today also showed me to be grateful for even a small coin. Also that we are sooo big (mean so much) to Jesus and we may not know it.

What resonates with me is “We can’t earn Haven, it is a gift”. This is because too many times I feel like we all ,especially me, see Heaven as something we have to devote our entire lives for which is true to a point. Our whole lives we should go to Mass and be kind and make the right decisions but Heaven is a gift because everyone sins and makes mistakes. For us to lose those sins we have to recieve the gift of the sacrament of confession and all the other sacraments that are gift’s. God knows that we all sin but he gives us gifts and abilities that allow us to make it to Heaven which makes Heaven a gift.

Something that stuck to me when i read this is that when we let God onto our bout we realize our sinful ways and all of our disrespect and also all of our bad lifestyle. Letting God into your boat is hard to do trust me. sometimes every time i do something bad and i go to confessino im really embarressed about what i did and it was a easy thing not to do like cursing is a thing i have a habit i do and everytime i go its a sin i always say cause curse words and its really embarssing for me to say that all the time and i really dont like how i curse so ive been trying to stop but it sometimes is really difficult. i feel like todays gospel was really nice and i could relate to it. it may be hard or embarassing to let God into your boat since your gonna realize all the wrong you have done but its better to realize it then let that sin/mistake rule over youre life. its important to let God into your boat and change your bad into good.

“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?” This verse stuck out to me because it shows that no matter how far off from God we are he will leave everything and drop everything to do anything in his power to draw us back to his love. Our God is a caring and loving father that no matter what we do he will always forgive us. God treats a criminal and a priest with the same love and that just proves how much he loves us no matter how far we drift away. Even though he has many sons and daughters got thought of each and everyone one of us and that’s how we were born. So no matter how far away you feel from the faith God is always on the other side trying to run back to you.

“We may need to change a routine we are in, a place we go, people we hang out with, or today an electronic device we use too much.”
this parts are really important, and stuck out to me the most, because the routine that I’m currently in is not the best, I really don’t have time to go to church unless its school church or Sunday. my old routine would let me spend time with God,Jesus and do the rosary in a church at least 3-5 times a week. it would be nice to change our schedules to spend time with God more than we do now as teenagers. the friends around us can tend to influence us, maybe they tell us ‘God isn’t real” or “the Catholic faith is stupid” and “oh do this instead of that” the friends that say those things, you need to kick them out of your life, and friends that tell you something bad about the Catholic faith, need to GET out of there because sometimes they can make you doubt if the Catholic faith, or Jesus is real or not, and that’s not good. with the electric devices, we don’t need them to spend time on them to just doomscroll, we need time on them to get connected with God. play some Bible verse games, read the Bible online if you don’t have one, yes you can be on your phone to watch stuff and text and call but most importantly at least spend 15-20 minutes connecting with God.

““Allowing Jesus into your boat, recognizing our sinfulness, humbly approaching the One who is love, mercy, and justice.”
this one also really stuck out to me and was important because if we never allowed Jesus into our life, we would have never got to know him, never would have gotten to get closer to the faith and to him, we would have never got to take communion, never gotten baptized, and most importantly we wouldn’t be able to be here in this wonderful school, with this teaching of our faith. with our sin, we need to be more cautious and careful about it, kinda of like how they tell us to be aware of our surroundings, be aware of our sin. the devil can surely tempt us when it comes to anything and I mean ANYTHING, stealing, lying, cheating and there’s way more. God, Jesus is always and will forever be love, mercy, and justice.
