“THIS MAN WELCOMES SINNERS AND EATS WITH THEM.” LK 15:1-10
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Prayer Prompt before reading LK 15:1-10: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.
Today, Jesus teaches us that God is not very economical (Bishop Barron). Who in their right mind would leave 99 to gain 1? God’s grace can’t be earned, its a gift and He can use it how He wants. How does a sinner receive this grace? Allowing Jesus into your boat, recognizing our sinfulness, humbly approaching the One who is love, mercy, and justice. As Bishop Barron says, “The Gospel is about detachment”.
We are called to repent and change our lives by looking at life in a completely different way. We are created to be holy, but Adam and Eve messed that up. When we sin we are not being the best version of ourselves; the image and likeness of God that He created us in.
Do we desire holiness? When we take steps to avoid the near occasion of sin by coming to God’s mercy and choosing His Will with our effort until the sin is no longer a part of our life. This may also require medicine, doctors, and counselors with God’s grace in confession.
The opposite is the one who thinks they never sin or tries to rationalize their sin and does not reconcile themselves with God. One who does not desire holiness or is blinded by their pride/ego. I believe each human struggles with a little bit of both.
In the act of contrition, we pray to “avoid the near occasion of sin”. Often times we forget this once we get back into the routine of life. Habits are important to pay attention to. We may need to change a routine we are in, a place we go, people we hang out with, or today an electronic device we use too much (what is the purpose of the device?).
God gave us life as a gift out of love, our identity is in Him. Jeremy Driscoll says, “I am loved, therefore I am.” We are created out of love. We do not exist and our lives have no meaning without this love. Our Father destined us before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him, redeemed by His Son’s holy blood in a covenant that required sacrifice, and sealed us in His Holy Spirit (Eph 1:1-14) This is our identity and we stop living it, when we sin.
When we celebrate all saint’s day and all soul’s day, we learn that we are made to see God face to face at the end of our journey through the death and resurrection of Christ in baptism. We have a high calling. We must learn to “avoid the near occasion of sin” by forming ourselves in knowledge of God and daily habits that lead us to God and His grace not away from Him.
We are called to rise above with God’s grace and cooperating with His Will. Our souls, our being, is a precious gift from God and He wills for us to come back to Him. He calls us to make our will His Will to return His love. Pope Francis says, “God never tires of giving mercy, we tire of asking for it.” Repent, you have an entire heaven full of angels and saints waiting to rejoice!
Most importantly, God’s one desire is your friendship. He sent His only Son to die for it. God wants a relationship with you. Our sin is a failure in relationships. We are made for relationships. Our sin stems from a failure in our relationship with God, our own flesh, or another person. When we sin we fail in one of these relationships. Think about who you are hurting next time you are about sin.
We all need to learn and practice forgiveness because we will certainly fail in our relationships. They are difficult. All of us are the lost sheep at times. Remember there is rejoicing in heaven when you truly repent with God’s grace to be all in because He is all in for you. With God’s grace and love transforming us, we too can share this love to build healthy relationships with others.
Key tip: If you want to avoid the near occasion of sin, fill yourself with God’s life (sacraments). We can receive the Eucharist daily and go to confession as often as needed. Pray with the Scriptures developing a personal relationship with God. Sit in silence. Ask Mary to lead you to her Son, pray the rosary meditating on the mysteries of Jesus and Mary’s lives.
Adore God in Adoration. Read a spiritual book each day. We can’t earn heaven, it is a gift. We are transformed by God’s grace, so bring yourself to His grace all throughout the day, then you will find yourself yearning for God and time to spend with Him. You will find yourself avoiding the near occasion of sin because you no longer want to hurt your best friend!
Today’s challenge: Repent. Baby steps start one day at a time and come to God’s grace in the Eucharist and confession daily if needed. The saints often came to these two sacraments daily. Clothe yourself with Christ. This is a call to create a Christian Culture in your heart, your home, and your school/community today! Be bold, have no fear!
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YODO (You Only Die Once; We will rise and live again)
God teaches us in the scripture that we do not know what is best for us. This shows that God has very different methods than we do, and he asks us to trust that he knows what is best for us, and for us to follow him. Jesus’ methods often seem wierd, or different. But that goes to show that Jesus has knowledge of what is best for us. Trust him, follow him, listen to him. Jesus is always gonna lead us back, no matter how lost we are.
We all need to learn and practice forgiveness
This stuck out to me because you have to forgive people to keep your relationships with them or even have a healthy relationship. Forgiving is a key part of life and if you don’t forgive people, how are they going to forgive you. So if you do something wrong, forgive them and ask God for forgiveness for that person.
I think Jesus is trying to say that 1 person who asks for forgiveness is one of the greatest things that will happen in heaven and all the angels will rejoice and be really happy for one sinner repenting rather than 99 people who don’t need to repent.
In the gospel today Jesus says that when one of us is lost he will leave to find them ad rescue them. This is a really good example of how loving our God is he doesn’t want anyone to be lost or lonely. He wants them to know that he is always there. We can talk to God whenever we want he is always there for us and he will always love us.
I feel like that Jesus is trying to tell us to be with God and he will always be there for you and that no matter what you do Jesus and God will both love you.
Our main desire in life should be to form a good relationship with God. Not money, fame, or power, but God. its still okay to want those things we just need to keep God at the top
In today’s Gospel these words stuck out to me “The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus”
I think these words stuck out to me because We are sinners and we need to draw near to Jesus everyday and pray to him every
Day or else we will not go to heaven.
Something that I got out of this was that no matter how far away we think we are from God’s love, we are just as close as the saints and the people that are holy. Nobody can shy away from God’s love no matter how hard you try God will always love you, and sadly most of the world does not realize that, and it is our job to go out and tell people that Jesus loves them, tell them that God wants to have a relationship with you, times may get hard, and we will struggle on our journey to everlasting life, but the difference from a sinner, and a saint is that a sinner just gives up once they sin, they think that God will never forgive them. Meanwhile a saint realizes that God will always love them, and get up and try again, and we should all try to be like the saints, and realize that God will love us no matter what and get up and try again.
You have a gift! Inspire your family, classmates, the world!
In today’s scripture, it says that we need to take baby steps, to me this means that we don’t have to be like Jesus right now, but we have to try, we have to get better as time goes on. We can take small steps, small things that we can do to be a better person and son or daughter of Jesus Christ. We have time and we only have one life, and after this life we have an eternal life with God, but if we mess up with our life that we do die in, then we might not get the chance to be with God forever in heaven.
In today’s gospel the Lord speaks of how he would leave the ninety nine just to find his lost sheep and when he does he and heaven rejoice because because the sinner repented, just as when a women loses one of her ten coins and searches ever so carefully until she finds it this is what god will do just to bring us to heaven with him.
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” this is more than enough of what God should do to get us to love him.He should not have to call for us we should be following him already if he stray we expected him to find us but we need to find him, he is not always going to lead us in all the paths we take it involves us too. If we don’t follow God then what are we going to do on judgement day when he returns.
God created us in the image and likeness of Him and when we sin we take some of that away which we all are sinners. God goes and gets the one lost sheep like reconciliation. When we are lost God comes and finds us by the sacraments. When we are Baptized God is giving us a mark that can never be taken off of us which is when God is finding us. When we sin we get further and further away from God but when we confess our sins God finds us and brings us back to Him.
In this scripture it says “I am loved, therefore I am.” We are created out of love. We do not exist and our lives have no meaning without this love.” what the quote is trying to say is that God gave us life as a gift out of love. We do not exist without Gods love and we should spread the word, because God loves us so much. Sometimes we don’t realize how much God loves us, and what he did for us. We need to remember there is rejoicing in heaven when you truly repent with God’s grace to be all in because He is all in for you.
Today’s gospel is about how no matter what we do God will always forgive us. no matter how much we sin how many people we hurt with what we say or do God in his infinite mercy will always forgive us and rejoice when we repent. In the Gospel it says “there will be rejoicing among the angels of God
over one sinner who repents.”
The Kingdom of God is different; it is pure love. Love to the fullest. Something that stuck out today was that a person that drops one coin when they have ten will not go searching for it, but we are the one coin out of 10 sinners. If you think of it this way God would never leave behind a coin (us) because every single one of us is just as important to him as 10 of us. It brings up the other story of when a man loses 1 sheep out of 100 he will not leave the rest in the desert to look for that one that is lost, but if that was us God would leave all 99 righteous people to look for that one sinner that needs to be saved. God will do that he will seek you out and try to get you back to him. This doesn’t mean that the other 99 aren’t important to him as the 1 lost, but that they are just as important he needs them all that is why he went after the one, because he needs all of us.
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
I like this because it shows Jesus forgives, even when we are sinners he forgives and wants us to be in Heaven with him. In the Gospel it talks about Jesus having 100 sheep and one goes missing. He leaves all 99 sheep for his one sheep missing, when he finds it he rejoices. We are that one lost sheep, who sinned and wandered away from him. He cares for us and will find us, even if we have sinned. He wants all 100 of us sheep to go to Heaven
In the Gospel today, I learned that Jesus will never stop loving us and will keep on coming after us to bring us to heaven and to be with Him. He uses the parable of the lost sheep and the lost coin and says, “there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” God is always ready to forgive us and he will always love us because God is love. We just need to love Him, be the best person we can, and want to be with Him.
“I am loved, therefore I am.” We are loved too much by God and we need to learn to love him back and give back to the Lord. Jesus is waiting for us to love him back. and wants us to get closer to him. we are created out of love. God gust whats to have a friendship with us.
We all need to learn and practice forgiveness because we will certainly fail in our relationships. we need to forgive those that were rude to you and restart and forgive those you maybe don’t like.
when we sin we are not being the best version of ourselves. This is very true when we sin we are not being the best version of our self’s because we can do better than that we have to try to do better than that because that what god wants from us.
I believe that Jesus is trying to tell us in this Gospel is that the Father will always be there for us, and he will never leave
Jesus is the good shepherd that loves you so so so much.He would risk his life for you. This is what sin does, we are with God and he tells us not to leave the cage. When we don’t listen we leave and get lost. God chases after you the whole time wondering where you are, and we are lost with the wolfs going after us wanting our soul. Jesus finds us and cleanses us. The loving thing the Jesus does is that he never hates, punish, kill, forget about, and doesn’t know you. He loves, you. He thanked God for finding his sheep which is us. How many times have we sinned and gotten lost in ourselves that we forget our place. Demons chase after our soul, and we get found. We stand in this place of love, care, freedom and we are cleansed and are his. We need to try not to get lost in ourselves but be lost in him. Jesus is enough for us, his blood is needed, his love is needed, and he is needed for us. That is why he is the good shepherd and he is enough!!!
You inspire me Christian! Thank you!
In today’s Gospel God tells us to love one another as he does. He does not judge people for sinning and we shouldn’t too.
This scripture is calling me to repent. Jesus gave us many gifts. He gave us life, grace, love, and salvation! Without these gifts, we are nothing. All God wants is a relationship with us! We should come towards him, and do what he wants us to do. We should accept the fact that we are God’s children, and these gifts so then we will be with him one day!
Jesus is preaching and tax collectors come to listen and the pharisees don’t like it, so they complain. Jesus says a parable that means that He wants everyone in the kingdom of heaven by saying if He lost one sheep out of 100 He would search for the sheep until He finds it and when He finds it, He would rejoice. He also says that if a woman lost a coin, she would look for the coin and rejoice when she finds it.
I think God is trying to tell us that he will always give forgiveness no matter how many times we need to ask him.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that repenting is what we need. If we repent and forgive we will be forgiven by God. Even if we sin if we repent God will still welcome us back into his kingdom just because he loves us more than all the people in the world together could love him back. This is not something we deserve but it is given to us anyway. We should turn back to God and love him.
God was telling me to always go to confession and even if you sin he will welcome you back. He was also tellying me to never have to big of a ego.
God’s one desire is your friendship. this stuck out to me because it shows us that he wants us to be baptized and recognized as his sons and daughters so we can continue to grow in his faith and so we can continue loving him. it shows us that God is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice of sending down his only son just for our love.
God is trying to tell us how lucky we are to have him as a father and we should never forget that , we need to practice forgiving and loving everybody
what this reading is trying to tell us is that we should never leave Jesus side and that we can’t always find a easy way out, but God will eventually help us. also that we can’t find our way to heaven easily but God will be there with us
“THIS MAN WELCOMES SINNERS AND EATS WITH THEM”We are the circumcision. We learn today that GOD is not economical. We have always been called to repent and change our way of life.We can’t earn heaven, heaven is a glorious gift.God’s one wish is to be your friend. Our main goal in life should be directed to serving God and trying to get to heaven.
Something that stuck with me when I read this parable’s is that how to earn Gods grace is by to letting him into our boat. Like what that meant to me when I read this is that when we invite God into our life we get Grace and also form a relationship with him. Also something else I liked when I read this is that when we sin we are not our full selves. What I like about this is that we were meant to be a perfect person but Adam and Eve messed up for all of us but its okay we all make mistakes. And everytime we gossip or lie or curse it doesn’t help the other person or ourselves so instead we should be filled with the Love and Wisdom of the spirit everytime someone makes us supset. You know I get made whenever someone messes up but I think to myself if I scream at them or say something mean about them I’m just hurting them and myself instead of being in a world full of hatred we should be in a world full of LOVE.
In todays Gospel Jesus says that “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” I think that means that he always wants us to come and join him even though he knows we have done bad Jesus wants us to get to heaven and will do any thing for us to get their but at the end of the day we have to make the right choice and truly believe what what Gods trying to get us to understand.
Today Jesus told me that we are all loved no matter what! You may not think losing a penny is a big deal or the same as a venial sin as not a big deal, well it certainly is! We all have to repent and forgive for the angels and Jesus and all the saints will rejoice for every penny found a new fire is ignited! We are like a lost penny waiting to be found we just have to get out and repent then we shall be found! Amen.
“In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” I feel like God is trying to tell me that when somebody is lost He will do everything to find it even if He loses another on the way He will go back to find that one and another and another because He is God He will find us even if we try to avoid Him. He WILL find us no matter what no matter even if we try to run away He knows where we are and will listen for us calling to call Him. We know not that every day there is a voice inside our hearts that communicates to God and calls to Him when we need Him most. But there is, and there shall always be one part of us that still wants HIm to be with you at all time. Nobody can deny it because they don’t know it’s there but it’s there and God is just waiting for us to realize that we need Him and that nothing we do is without Him.
What I think today’s gospel was about how God gave us a gift full of life and love and we should really be thankful for that in our life and our identity in life is Jesus but not only that , we do not exist with out God’s love and no matter what Jesus will always love you, no matter the sin in life that you have made he will always love because we are children of God and we will never be able to take that away.
It was saying to me, with God, everything is possible, and God can do anything!
even Jesus can help change the worse in people
“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them
would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it? What this means to me is that we are all special in our own way and that God cares for each and every one of us will go find us and leave the 99 behind just to find us. This is what stood out to me in this Gospel today.
in the Gospel today it talks about how when a shepherd has lost one sheep they will leave there other 99 sheep and go find that one sheep then return with the sheep on its shoulders. I think God is trying to tell us that one description in our life can lead to a whole other journey and one description may change our whole life.
In today’s gospel it talks about how Jesus left the 99 sheep to find the 1 lost sheep. We are the lost sheep and God is trying to find us. He loves us so much that he would leave 99 other sheep to come and find us.
I think its reminding us that even if we sin Jesus will still care about us and try to bring us back to him.
In this scripture reflection I think that Jesus is telling us that he will wait for us and for us not to think that it is too late to repent our sins. Jesus always wants us to know that he is always waiting and he is ready for us whenever were ready for him.
I think that the gospel was telling me to be grateful for what you have and to celebrate the little things in life not just the more noticeable accomplishments.
I think that the Gospel was telling us that He will find us if we get lost. He will comfort His sheep, and will love and care for us. He doesn’t want us to worry! Everyone sins. That is just how we all are. But, in the Gospel, Jesus tells us that it is okay to sin! We have to repent and rejoice for our Lord is here in our heart. Rejoice for the Lord! Strive to follow in His footsteps. For He is here. Amen!
What God is trying to tell me is that we must not let one of us turn away from God and not care about it. We must go and help that lost person and help them get back to Jesus. No matter if they are your enemy or your best friend you must help that person come back to the light.
In today’s gospel, something that stood out to me was when Jesus said, “What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?” He then said that after finding the lost sheep and bringing it back, there should be much celebration. This stood out to me because it shows that no matter how lost we are, the only thing that God wants for us is to come back to Him and repent for our sins. Even if you are a horrible criminal, He still loves you and is waiting for you to return to His loving, open arms.
“If anyone thinks He can be more confident, the more can i.” That is basically telling us that if Jesus is confident and He can be confident in anything so can we. We just have to believe in ourselves like He did himself. So whenever you are down or just feeling sad remember what God did for us, he was so confident in what he did. He was the one that died for us, for the world.
I think what Jesus is trying to tell me is this; it doesn’t matter how bad your sin or how much you sin, if you repent and you are truly sorry for your sins he will forgive you. I think He’s also saying that He loves us unconditionally, so much that He knew us before we were born. If your casting aside God’s love, you should reel it in and realize that He loves you and wants to guide you to a path that’s right for you.
In today’s gospel we hear that if one shepherd loses one sheep and leaves 99 sheep to find it and then celebrates it. And another parable was like this that if one woman loses a coin she cleans and lights a lantern. I got a lot from this and God says that if we sin there will be more celebration in the kingdom of God than if 99 righteous people
“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ “. When the Gospel said this, I think that it means that Jesus would do anything to find us and bring us back to the Father. And when he found us, he would rejoice and celebrate, because the one who was lost had been found. The Holy Spirit is meant to guide us, and when we do the wrong thing, that doesn’t change God’s love for us. The pharisees didn’t believe in Jesus, even when the tax collectors did. Instead, they complained. “‘Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’ In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Good job, Evelyn! You have a gift, you inspire me, inspire your family and friends, the whole world!
God is telling us that we cant Judge people if they sin. Thats just not right or he might just be saying not to judge people. We are all sinners, we can all strive to be better, if we trust in Jesus we will get to our destination…HEAVEN. there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents
than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.
In today’s Gospel I think it is saying that when Jesus found his lost sheep he was very happy. And that there will be sinners who repent, in Heaven. When we walk away from Jesus he gets sad but goes and finds you again, even if you don’t want to come back he will wait for you.
I think in the Gospel today God is telling us that he will not abandon any of us, even if everyone else is safe He will search for the one lost person. He is also telling us that He loves us no matter what, even if we commit a mortal sin, and will not rest until all of His people are with Him.
Jesus will never abandon any of us. He will always try to find us when we are lost. He is the Shepard and we are his sheep. He wont ever judge us. He will always love us no matter what.
Jesus will never abandon any of us. He will always try to find us when we are lost. He is the Shepard and we are his sheep. He wont ever judge us. He will always love us no matter what we do or say.
I think today’s Gospel is saying that every life matters and that everyone is unique so every person is worth leaving for. God cares for everyone very deeply.
Something that stuck out to me was, “I am loved, therefore I am, We are created out of love” It stuck out to me because God created us of the image and liking of God. God will always love and forgive us no matter what we do or say. God will always be there for us.
“Who in their right mind would leave 99 to gain 1?” This actually really stuck out to me. cause we as humans would never. Would you rather have 1 dollar or 99 dollars? 1 friend or 99 friends? any object we want more and more! nothing is ever good enough for us. But God chooses us over everything, we can never be not good enough for him. He would choose 1 over 99! and we need to be more like that and start being grateful for the things and people we have. Because we have more than enough because we have the best gift of all, Faith.
In today’s scripture it is telling us that even when we do sin that he will always love us and forgive us no matter the severity of our sins. That the living God is all powerful and that with him we will win the fight against Satan who has destroyed our lives. We must repent, heck God loves it when we repent and thought that we are loved. Jesus will forgive all humans and that if we just come to God and Jesus we will be saved
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says “there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.” This basically means that you don’t have to be the best at something or be the best looking; You just have to be loving towards God and other people.
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” This reminds me of how God takes us in even though we hurt him so much. We turn against him yet he takes us in, and forgives us. We need to be forgiving of others who hurt us, just like God. It may be hard, but it is possible. Instead of fighting, spreading rumors, causing drama, and holding grudges, we can take some time to heal and forgive.
Jesus is trying to tell us that he will be with us forever no matter what circumstances and at every single moment of are life. If you start missing mass he will be with you and try to bring you back into the light and he will try harder than ever. Every moment something reminds you of Jesus or you are asking yourself should I go back to church thats Jesus Christ inside of you telling you what you should do.
Jesus is trying to tell us his Grace is a gift. We can’t take it. It has to be given to us. We are asked to repent so that we can go to heaven when our time has come. We are created out of love from God. So try to repent by going to confession, and take care of others.
What I got from this was that Jesus would do absolutely anything for us. And to prove this, He did! He died for us while suffering tremendously. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is. I also got that if we want to live a loving and holy life, then we need to accept Jesus as our Savior and genuinely believe He’s there with us. He’s always here with us every step of our life.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells a story about how if a shepherd lost just one sheep, he would leave the other 99 to find it, and when he does, he will rejoice. Jesus also tells the same story, but with a woman losing a coin. I think that Jesus is telling us that whenever we fall off the panther to heaven, Jesus will always be there for us and once we come back to him, no matter what we did, there will be great rejoicing.
“There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.” This stuck out to me because it says that if only one person repents, there is so much joy. I think if more people knew that so many people wanted them to choose Christ, there would be many more Christians.
In the gospel it is telling us that Jesus loves us and will do anything for us. Just like in the parable of the lost sheep he will leave the other 99 to come find us that just tells us how much he loves and cares for us. God will never give up on us and he will make sure we make it to heaven that why he forgives us for what we have done.
in the Gospel of the day jesus teaches us the parable of the 99 sheep and says that if you lost one sheep would you not leave the 99 to find the one so is the lord he will leave everything just to come and get us for he loves us and Does not want to lose us because we are his children and he loves us so.
Today, I think that God was telling us that all we need is forgiveness. God loves us so much and always forgives if we own up to what we did and ask for forgiveness. God loves us so much that no matter what we have done, he still loves us and forgives us. We should also always look up to him and forgive our friends and anyone who has hurt us.
I think what Jesus is trying to say here is that he doesn’t have to save us from sin he chooses to he will run away from the 99 to save 1, an ethical person says that you should just leave the 99 Jesus say all 100 a important so if one gets lost than he believe that will accept him .
In the gospel today, Jesus talks about how if we had 100 sheep and lost one of them, if we would go find it. This reminds me of God. He doesn’t want any of us to be lonely or lost. He loves us so much and wants to make sure we all are comforted and loved. God wants us to know that he will always love us and will always be there for us.
“Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” This shows that Jesus will not discriminate between people, Jesus eats with sinners to show that anyone can come to him, he will not abandon us, and he forgives us no matter how big the mistake we made as long as we try to go to him.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus lost one of his 100 sheep. He left the 99 sheep to go find the 1 lost sheep. After He found the sheep, He said ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ Jesus loves us so much that He will leave the 99 sheep just to go find the lost sheep. Jesus is the Shepard and we are His sheep. Jesus loves everyone and He will include everyone in the Kingdom of Heaven. “THIS MAN WELCOMES SINNERS AND EATS WITH THEM.” I like this quote because it made me realize that even though they are poor and sick, Jesus doesn’t care that they are poor and sick. He treats them like how he treats us. Jesus treats everyone equally.
“When we sin we are not being the best version of ourselves; the image and likeness of God that He created us in.” When you sin you don’t become bad and evil and you will never be forgiven. This is saying that when you sin you could have chosen a better version of yourself. Then once you go to confession it is like you are saying that next time you are going to try harder to make better choices.
In Jesus’s time these big sinners like tax-collectors were shunned from the Jewish society as outcasts, but Jesus, this very holy man that claims that He is The Son Of God, is letting them come near Him, teaching them, and dining with them. The Pharisees, who already don’t really like Jesus, speak up to Him about this and He tells them the parable of the lost sheep, and how one repentant sinner gives more joy than 99 already righteous people. In saying this He not only tells The Pharisees the main message that is obvious to all, but also that no matter what you do God will look for you, continue to love you, and, if you want it, He will forgive you.
God gave us life as a gift out of love, our identity is in Him. Jeremy Driscoll says, “I am loved, therefore I am.” We are created out of love. We do not exist and our lives have no meaning without this love.We are called to rise above with God’s grace and cooperating with His Will. Our souls, our being, is a precious gift from God and He wills for us to come back to Him. He calls us to make our will His Will to return His love.We need to return the love he gave us in order to go to heaven.
¨When we sin we are not being the best version of ourselves; the image and likeness of God that He created us in.¨ this stuck out me because hes telling us that when we sin we are not being ourselves because we are made as good people.
In today’s gospel this really stuck out to me “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” This stuck out to me because it showed that Jesus can forgive others as so should we. If Jesus can forgive sinner than we can to. We can forgive those who have hurt us and make right.
He’s telling us to be in a good relationship with God. God is the way to heaven and a good life.
God wants us to trust him and love him greatly. He will always have a plan for us and no matter what happens he will always love us. When the time has come and we get to see God (especially those who have strayed away), God will be greatly happy just like when he had found his lost sheep.
God’s love is so great and so unselfish, that, when put into perspective of human logic, it makes no sense at all. He would leave the 99 to find the one lost sheep, and he would spend as long as it takes to find and save all who he loves. God’s love is unconditional and there is nothing we can do or say that will make him love us any less, and there is nowhere we can go that he won’t follow. We have the easy part, all we have to do is yes to his call.
Jesus is telling us that if some one who is lost finds their way we should celebrate but if someone who has no need of repentance finds the their way there is no need of repentance because if you are holy you are holy you can celebrate among yourself but their will be no need of it.
Goals are a staple to human life. Whether that’s getting a job or achieving something, there’s something better than everything. God is better than achieving a material-like goal. We work so hard just to get something we want, just to die and only care about it. The only thing we should be caring about is our relationship with the Father. The only way to get to heaven is by understanding who God truly is and learning from our mistakes.
“there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people” God wants us to be with him. In Heaven we have Saints, Angels, and even God rooting for us like our number one fan. 99 righteous souls in Heaven may be a lot, but even one sinner who repented is greatly celebrated because they accepted God and acknowledged their humanity and that they need him. Every time someone goes to Confession God and Jesus will always rejoice because you have returned to them
The pharisees judged Jesus, because He would preach to the evildoers of the world ‘but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” ‘ But Jesus pretty much tells them that those who need to repent are in more need than those who are righteous. Those people in need are the top priority. So we also must go against social norms to save the ones who are lost. He will always call them back, and He won’t give up until He finds them again.
What God is telling us in this gospel is that we do not know what is good for us. God has a different plan for us than we do. We can think that something else is better for us but God is the only one that knows what are life is going to look like in the future. We can imagine but we will never know until we get there.
“When we sin we are not being the best version of ourselves” This stuck out to me because when we are sinning God is not within us, we were made in the image of God so we obviously have that image of God in us. We just push it away and act like our humanity, the devil. When we sin we have to stop and try and get the devil from us out and bring God in to help us sin less.
I think Jesus is teaching us that we should love those that hate us. If they hit you turn the other cheek. We should care for others as a shepherd cares for his sheep. He goes after one and leaves the ninety-nine.
God is saying that he loves us. He will never abandon us and he will always be there for us with open arms. When we get lost and are in a dark place, God is always striving for us, he wants us to come back to the father. He will never leave us, so why should we leave him.
I think in today’s Gospel Jesus is talking about how much he cares about us. He left 99 sheep to find 1 lost sheep. That shows how much he cares about others. I think he wants us to care about others like he does.
“There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.” This quote stuck out to me today because it tells me it is not too late to repent. Some people think they cannot be forgiven because they have done bad all of their life. That is the opposite of what Jesus does. Jesus forgives us as many times as we ask for forgiveness. It is not too late to repent and there will be great joy and celebration if you hand your life over to Jesus now and repent. Jesus will rejoice and has found his lost sheep.
I think God is trying to tell us to think more about our relationship with Him and to “Think about who you are hurting next time you are about sin.”
I love this gospel because I love imagining myself being the lost sheep (because I once was) and the Father’s love sought me out and brought me home (or at least He brought me to the road towards home and continues to walk with me). I love knowing that the Father would literally move mountains and part seas just to get to me, and He does the same thing for all of us and it just blows my mind that He has enough space in His heart to love me like that. His heart is totally ours and we receive it, bruised and bleeding, every Sunday at the mass just like how it was at the crucifixion. And it blows my mind. Our God is crazy and even recklessly in love with you and there’s literally nothing in this world that He wouldn’t do to reach you. And when He does get to you He doesn’t see all the things he now has to fix or get rid of so you can get to Heaven, He just looks at you and smiles so sweetly your heart could just break. And with tears of joy in His eyes He tells you that you’ve been running too long, hiding too long and that it’s okay to not be perfect or whatever we think we need to be. He just wants you. All of your mistakes and imperfections. He wants all of it.
I think that the gospel is trying to tell us is that God is not economical!!!
What I get from today’s scripture reminds me of the prodigal son. The oldest son is mad because he has stuck with his dad all his life and worked but has received nothing, but his son who left and came back received a fattened calf and a party. God always loves us and is always looking for us. He will look for one sheep and leave 99 because the one was lost and wants the sinner to come back because he loves us all equally. He does not stop loving us once we leave him but he instead tries to get us to come back to him. The parables about this show how much God loves and wants us.
All us people do is complain and complain all we want is more. When we don’t have something then we want what other people have. People are selfish and Jesus is the one who comes to save us.
Today in the Gospel Jesus was telling me that he is all good and all love
I think God is trying to tell me that sinners can get into Heaven if we repent. We need to repent to God so he can forgive us.
Something that stood out to me is Adore God in Adoration and We all need to learn and practice forgiveness because we will certainly fail in our relationships.
God is telling us that even if one sheep got lost he would look for it.The sheep represents us.God is telling us that he loves everyone and if we lose are way in life he will try to bring us back
What really stuck out to me is “would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it?”. For me he is saying no matter the circumstances. He will always be there for us and will have a party in heaven when we repent.
“There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.’ This stood out to me because I take it as if I repent as a sinner you will have more life in heaven then multiple people who haven’t repented. And even as a sinner Jesus would still love you and forgive you.
The Holy Spirit is telling me that repenting from your sins is one of the greatest things that you can do when you have been living a sinful life
“Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost, in the same way I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” I think this means that even when we are at our lowest in life, we will always find a way to build it back up.
What I think the gospel is saying is that God would leave everything just to save us because we are all 1 in a million and Jesus loves us all from the poor to the rich he would die on the cross again if he had to he love us so much that he died for us.
I think what God is trying to tell us here today is that we are never alone. No matter how much sin separates you from your friends, family, or anyone, you are never alone. God is still with you everywhere and everyday, no matter the circumstances you are in. And when you are found by someone who is willing to help you with your situation and lead you back into the way of life, it causes great rejoicing. God will always find us no matter what happens to us, no matter the sin, no matter the ignorance, no matter the thoughts. God will find you, and to top it off, somebody else will find you and lead you to a better life, causing the great rejoicing and joy in your heart.
“Do we desire holiness?” This stuck out to me because sometimes we just need to slow down. We are always in a rush. We go through the emotions at mass thinking that it’s good enough. But do we really want to be there, do we really want to be in God’s presence.
what I think God is trying to tell me is that we are the sheep and the Lord is the shepherd and even if we are 1000 miles always he will still get us and when we have ten coins and one falls we just leave it so we should have everything that God gave us and to go and visit him to thank him.
In today’s gospel it is telling me that I should love Jesus. The part that really stuck out to me was when it says that grace is a gift from God. And it is something sinners can’t get. We have to learn and understand that we are going to get the gift of grace, by first leading Jesus into our boat. Yes we do sin, But we learn that when we sin we have learned that we should not commit that sin again. and we might do it again but that’s why we have confession. Have a Good Rest of your day! God Bless!!
I think he is trying to tell me that even in a big crowd he knows who you are because he created us in your image and that we are like his flock and he is our Shepard and even if you are lost and confused and you don’t care about him he will still always love you even if you don’t love him. He loves you because he created you he had us in his image before we were born isn’t that crazy that he had us in his image before anything and that shows how much he loves us and cares about us.
The scripture today is saying to change our life and look at it in a completely different way. What I got from today’s scripture was that when we sin, we are not being like the image and likeness of God that He created us in. It also talked about how God wants to be your friend and have a relationship with you and our sin is a failure in relationships. ‘We are created out of love. We do not exist and our lives have no meaning without this love.”
In the gospel today Jesus says that when one of us is lost he will leave to find them and rescue them.It shows that Jesus cares about each of us.He always loves us even when we don’t love Him back.We are never alone, even if it feels like it God is always with us.God is still with you everywhere and everyday.
I think God is telling us that no matter what we do he will always love us. he said ” he welcomes sinners and eats with them” meaning even if we sin he will always expect us and love us if we ask for forgiveness.
I think God is telling us that no matter what we do he will always love us. he said ” he welcomes sinners and eats with them” meaning even if we sin he will always expect us and love us if we ask for forgiveness. if we sin we shouldn’t worry we should focus on our faith and ask for forgivnes
The scripture told me that we are made out of love and so then we should spread love to others. We are made in God’s eyes and we need to love ourselves the way he loves us.
“God gave us life as a gift out of love, our identity is in Him.” Today God is telling me that His love is all that we need. All we need to do is love people and be kind for there is no reason to be mean. We should live our lives to the fullest and live like God wants us to. We should follow in His steps and spread the Word of God. Remember to love though, that’s one of the Simplest things you can do. Jesus died so we could live, but we don’t deserve to live one bit. He did that out of love. He loves you no matter what so love others like He loves you, because other people around you are also His kids and He cares about them too. Even if others are mean we should just let it be and stay positive and kind.
In the scripture God tells us that he comes to find us even out of the ninety-nine sheep. I know God loves me because he gave me so much, he gave me his only Son that died on the cross for me. If we follow him in his steps, we will make it to heaven. If we love and care for others and do little deeds for good we will live our lives to the fullest.
