Prayer Prompt before reading LK 11:47-54 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” LK 11:47-54

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, Jesus presents the Pharisees as those who insidiously (proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects) lead others astray through their seeming attention to the law. Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own. I also can be really strict about holding other’s accountable to follow the rules, but don’t follow them myself sometimes. I believe all of us sometimes worry more about the law more than loving others. We all can make the mistake of being like the Pharisees.

The point Jesus is trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love. He is love straight through and this is what we will be surrounded with and filled up with in the spiritual realm, our heavenly homeland. We have been given an earthly body with a soul, to love with our bodies, our actions and words. Our bodies are driven or animated by the soul.

He made us to have compassion (suffer with) on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it. This is what matters on judgment day, how much did you glorify the Father with your life. This in turn glorifies you and others see you as an other-Christ!

Today’s challenge: Don’t get too caught up in sin and rules, although these are important to keep order, the most important thing we can do is love, to give yourself away to another, a self-gift. The crazy backwards thing about it is when you give yourself away you become full of joy because you are living the way you were created to be!

Be a servant, be a saint today!

In today’s Gospel Jesus is saying that the pharisees that you are being horrible people and that they did not go in and stopped those trying to go in

Today in the Gospel, Jesus told us that we are missing the purpose of why God gave us life, why we are here. We are here so we can love one another, to have grief, to be happy, to be sad, and angry. But most of all, we are called to love Jesus. Jesus is what makes the world spin. Jesus is what makes a good, happy life. He is the reason why we even get to live! He has given us SO many blessings and gifts. But the thing is, we don’t deserve any of it. So today, let us all try to be thankful and realize how truly blessed we are.

We have been given an earthly body with a soul, to love with our bodies, our actions and words. Our bodies are driven or animated by the soul. This stood out to me because God never had to give us life, he could have just stopped at Adam and Eve. He made us because we all have a purpose that we are supposed to fill in the Heavenly world, and the Earthly world.

“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” LK 11:47-54. This stood out to me because Jesus is saying that the people at the temple have taken away the key to knowledge. Another reason why this stood out to me is because Jesus is saying that the people themselves get to enter even though they are stopping others that want to enter.

Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood!
Woe to you, scholars of the law!
You have taken away the key of knowledge.
You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.”
this part of the Gospel stuck out to me today because, its telling us that Jesus was telling the people what would happen. After the end of his last sentence people followed him around just to see what he was going to say next so he could better prepare themselves for what is to come. The truth is Jesus may tell us what is to come and what is not to come, when he tells you, don’t only think about yourselves (unless Jesus tells you otherwise) otherwise you are selfish and only wanted Jesus to tell you so then you wouldn’t have to parish like others. Do what Jesus asks of you, if you do you shall be worthy of heaven.(you already are but like a higher chance)

I think that this is telling us that even if we look down on our ancestors for doing something wrong, if we do not learn from them and make sure we are not doing the same thing, we will end up doing exactly what we don’t want to do.

The Pharisees do not understand why God gave us this amazing life. They only care about rules and laws. They don’t understand that God gave us this life to live and love each other. The Pharisees were also trying to catch Jesus when He would say something bad but He never did because Jesus loves each and every one of us.

In this scripture reflection it tells me that we cant boss around other people trying to force them to be perfect when we ourselves are not perfect. It is extremely important to remember that no one can be truly perfect so we cant have unachievable goals. Striving to try to be perfect is one thing but over working and being hard on yourself when you don’t meet those goals can affect you negatively and make you think your’e not enough. This is good to remember that Jesus will love you even when your’e not perfect because he doesn’t expect you to be.

“I believe all of us sometimes worry more about the law more than loving others.” this line in the reflection really spoke to me because sometimes we worry more about what others think, or like the line says, “the law”, instead of loving others. Sometimes we can be hypocritical, we can judge others for what they do without realizing we do the same things. We need to worry less and stop judging others and start loving each other like God loves all of us. Even though we all make mistakes, there is still room for improvement, one sin doesn’t define us. We are on this earth to love each other, so when we judge and bring hatred to the world we are defeating the purpose of life. Even if we don’t necessarily love someone, we should still always bring kindness and positivity towards them.

“This generation will be charged with its blood.” This stuck out to me because we are falling so far away from Christ, yet some are so hungry for him. We need Jesus more than ever.

In today’s Gospel while Jesus talks with the pharisees, He is telling them that their ancestors killed the prophets and that shouldn’t happen so the current pharisees should repent and try to follow Jesus and love Him.

I feel like its trying to tell me to take action for your consequences because if you don’t you will get yourself more in trouble and if you do you might get in trouble but not as much because you told the truth and what I also got from the gospel is to stop trying to bring people down to better yourself because you don’t know what people are going through because what you do and what you say have consequences and can really hurt people and can make them feel depressed and other things and you don’t want that on your mid

In today’s Gospel Jesus was scolding the Pharisees, He talks about the prophets that their ancestors killed and about Abel and Zechariah and how they were killed at the altar and temple building. He means when every one will pay in blood it’s His own blood

I think the Gospel today is telling us to love as God has loved, for that is what he made us for. There is always love in someone but some don’t harness it and actually let it spread like God. They let the hatred they have overpower the love and cover it like a blanket as if they put it in a cage because they don’t want to let it free and reign. But that’s what God is telling us, love and love everyone even your enemies! Everyone deserves to be loved by someone. So don’t hate on people, instead love them as God loves them. Love them like Jesus loves you. But most importantly, love God more than you love you or your neighbor, and let God protect you and love you.

In today’s Scripture It really hit me hard, but in an amazing way. “This generation will be charged with its own blood” it really stuck out to me because we know ourselves and know that we start to fall away from Christ, its not a secret we know that we start leaving Jesus which we should not because God made you, not for this world, but for heaven. The Phrasies start falling away to do the same. We all make mistakes, but we should always learn from them because Jesus forgives us and our trespasses. We are empowered by the spirit and one mistake is not who we are because that’s not what God wants for us. He wants us to follow him through every step of the journey. God Loves You!! God Bless!!

What really stuck out to me in this scripture was “I also can be really strict about holding other’s accountable to follow the rules, but don’t follow them myself sometimes.”. I like this because I can totally agree. I feel like we often judge other people without judging ourselves first. It’s hard for others to take our advice if we don’t listen to our own advice. But I also think the advice we give people, is the advice we wish someone would give us. God created us to love even when others don’t deserve it. We are made to forgive and have compassion.
