“WHO THEN IS THIS ABOUT WHOM I HEAR SUCH THINGS?” LK 9:7-9
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening,
and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying,
“John has been raised from the dead”;
others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”;
still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.”
But Herod said, “John I beheaded.
Who then is this about whom I hear such things?”
And he kept trying to see him. Lk 9:7-9
Today, Luke begins to write about the identity of Jesus and he uses Herod as the person who is “perplexed” about what the people were saying. The identity of Jesus will be revealed in the coming Gospel readings. The question I would like to pose today is who is Jesus for you? Is He a slot machine where you put petitions in and expect Him to grant your every wish in return?
Do we sin knowing we can just go to confession so it is no big deal because Jesus will forgive us (sin of presumption)? Have we ever read one of the Gospels beginning to end in search of the identity of Jesus? It is one thing to know about Jesus and another to know Jesus.
Most importantly, do we go to Mass, read the Bible on our own, and spend time in adoration with Jesus listening to what He has to say? Jesus is about to reveal His identity in the upcoming Gospel readings. Listen to what He says and decide if you really believe. If so, it requires a radical change in your life.
As a baptized believer in Jesus Christ our duty is to reject Satan and follow Jesus more closely each day (strive for holiness). Jesus gave all for you, are you willing to give all for Him? He wants to give you true happiness.
Today’s challenge: Christianity is a religion that is a relationship with a person not a set of rules to follow. If you are searching for true happiness, seek Jesus the God Man. Take time each day to listen to Him.
Be a servant, become a saint!

“John I beheaded.” A lot of people get “beheaded” by social media and their faith gets tampered down, but we should be strong in our faith so we can stand as a unity
today in scripture I learned we need to follow the precepts of the church and take them serious. We go to confession and sin non stop and we go to confession like its no big deal he is removing sin from our soul to purify it. He keeps sending us signs to follow him because he wants you at the right hand of the father.
Herod is perplexed because people are saying that John has returned from the dead but they are speaking of Jesus how Jesus is not only a Prophet like John but he is our savior. He truly is the Messiah and he arrived to save us.
Today the scripture was saying to me that just because something doesn’t sound believable doesn’t mean its not true because the bible have so many crazy things that might not sound real but it all is. We just have to trust in God and let him lead us to him. We need to help others get to God no matter what they have done because its not our place to judge anyone for what they have done God is the only person that can judge people and make the call on if you lived your life for good or bad.
Today’s Gospel is talking about Herod and how others are talking about this “new prophet”. Herod doesn’t want to believe it unless he sees Jesus with his own eyes. We need to not be like Herod and trust that God is there even without seeing Him. When he comes again everybody will want to see Him to believe but we should know that it is really Him and know it is without seeing Him.
Today, the Gospel tells us how Herod was anxious to see Jesus . Such an urge to see Jesus was born out of curiosity. A lot was being said about Jesus because of the miracles which He was performing. Many spoke about Him. And Jesus’ behavior was reminding many people of the names of several prophets: Elijah, John the Baptist etc. But these whims did not transcend mere curiosity. To the extent that when Herod meets Jesus he treats Him contemptuously and mocks Him. Herod’s caprice to meet Jesus vanishes when finally facing Him because Jesus refuses to answer his many questions. The Silence of Jesus denounces Herod as corrupt and depraved.
we need to be reading the gospels to change our way of living on how good his words are. To follow Jesus Christ and to not be tempted by the devil to do the wrong things and to lead us away from God the father. just sin and ask for forgiveness we need to be truly sorry for our sins and to make it up with prayer and being a better person.
What sticks out to me is when it says do we sin knowing we can go to confession and Jesus will forgive us. Now for the most part this statement is true, but it goes deep then just that. We can’t just sin and pass it on by, if we live a sinful life we won’t make it to heaven. If we sin, don’t pray, don’t worship, we will not make it to heaven. We should stride to read the bible, and go to mass.
We need to love Jesus with our hearts and not just use him like a slot machine or only talk to him when we’re at our lowest. We need to love and thank Jesus for what he has done, is doing, and will do for us. And just need to be thankful and overwelmed by the fact that he suffered beatings, humiliation, suffering, pain, and endured it all without complaining for us, even if there was only one person on this earth he would still do it for you.
We must know Jesus and not just learn about Him. We need to develop a relationship with Him. He calls us to be with Him and not for us to just read about Him. We must talk to Him but also listen. If you are going to ask for help, ask the best helper you can (Jesus). Jesus gave everything for us and just like the pearl of great price we must give up everything for Him. If we just listen to Him, he will give us all that we need.
Herod beheaded John because he was worried about what his friends at a party would think about him if he broke a promise to his daughter. Even though he beheaded John, he was very interested about what John had to say about Jesus and the savior. As we see in today’s reading, Herod is interested in who this new prophet is, because he is told it is john. He wishes to see John again because he probably regretted beheading him. He seeks out Jesus because his ears know the truth and it appeals to him. Humans always want to know the truth about everything, and this applies to spiritual matters as well. God is truth, andHis truth is LOVE! If we find God, we find truth. and if we find truth, we find Love!
Today Luke makes Herod look or seem confused. People are talking about Jesus and they are making him sound like John the baptist. Herod is confused by this cause he had John beheaded. I think Luke is trying to tell us that though Jesus and John were similar because of what they preached, that they are not the same because Jesus was born without original sin and John wasn’t.
When people first heard about Jesus, they didn’t know who He was. Jesus teaches us who He is through the Bible and what we listen to at Mass. We may know of Him but do we know Him? Jesus isn’t a slot machine where we can just sin and know we will be forgiven in confession. Jesus is love and He wants us to know who He is.
In the reading a part that stuck out to me was
“Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him. ”
Herod wanted to know who all the people were talking about. I think Herod was perplexed because he was unaware of what was happening. Because Herod did not know that later in the Gospels Jesus’ identity would be revealed.
we think that we can sin because there is confession right but that’s not the right mindset to have you need to try your best not to sin and when you do (which we will ) be upset go to confession fell sorry do your pence and try your hardest not to sin again Jesus knows if your trying not to in or if your not trying he knows everything and sees everything so nothing will go past without him seeing.
just try your best not to sin and spread the word don’t be ashamed of being Catholic and everything should be fine
In the Gospel, people were saying that John the Baptist has risen back to life or that Elijah has appeared. All of these sightings are the identity of Jesus.
The gospel today states that we should listen to Jesus Christ and be aware of when he speaks to you in prayer, since we don’t go to mass just to be there, but we go there to see God for an hour which is when we give our time to Him. We ask Him to forgive us and he will forgive, the lord always listens.
Do we sin knowing we can just go to confession so it is no big deal because Jesus will forgive us (sin of presumption)? Have we ever read one of the Gospels beginning to end in search of the identity of Jesus? It is one thing to know about Jesus and another to know Jesus. God is wanting us to think hard about what some things are just because you love Jesus and you are Catholic does not mean that you actually know him.If you go to confession because you sinned doesn’t mean that you can just sin on purpose so He is saying think before you do.
Something that stuck out to me was that sometimes we can’t see all the good things in our lives and we have to strive to see them and sometimes there are things that sometimes we don’t believe and we sometimes don’t believe God is there but he is and we need to trust in his plan.
What sticks out to me is “do we sin knowing we can just go to confession?” When we sin we should really be sorry for our sins. After we sin yes we can go to confession but, we should not sin because we know we can do that because Jesus will forgive us. We have to realize if we want to go to heaven we have to actually strive for it.
I believe he is using Harrods’s confusion as showing how we get confused about our faith but to truly rise like John is sated to have we must go to and understand him.
Jesus is the only son of god to me and my savior not a slot machine where i put my petions . King herod is confused that John is back from the dead because he beheaded him.But Herod said, “John I beheaded.
Who then is this about whom I hear such things?”.
Todays gospel is about how Harrod was very anxious to see Jesus. We are scared to go to confession because sometimes we think we wont be forgiven, or the sin is to bad to even say. But we do not know that Jesus always forgives our sins no matter how bad it is. He died for us and our SINS because he loves us and forgives us.
We need to think of Jesus as if he were our best friend, not as if he were a slot machine. What I have been doing is reading the bible every night. It helps me learn a lot more about God and get to know him better. We need to start thinking of Jesus like a friend and realize he will always be with us.
Jesus for me is someone who is always there for me and loves me no matter what I do.We can get to know Jesus by reading the bible and we can also talk to Him in prayer. We should talk to Him like He is one of our friends. What sticks out for me the most is that people think we can just go to confession and thinking sinning is no big deal, but Jesus doesn’t want us to sin.He will always forgive us though.
I would say my favorite line from this gospel is “John I beheaded.” This means to me that John didn’t die when Herod thought he died or he was risen through Christ’s power. Just like sometimes we get beheaded from Christ and get taken away from him by the internet.
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph. This line stuck out to me because after all Jesus did for us we owe our all to Him. All the pain and suffering He went through to forgive our sins and show us physically how much he loved us – so much that he would willingly die for us. Jesus is the source of things good and holy – He is love. We should strive to remember and live knowing this truth every day.
Herod is perplexed because he beheaded John and everyone is still trying to see him there. It stuck out to me because it is like when something is going away we cannot just imagine it is still there, we have to let it go at one point. Jesus is not a slot machine we just put petitions in and expect him to do it. We have to have a relationship with him because you cannot just ask someone for something then not talk to them again until you need something again.
What stuck out to me was saying we use Jesus as a slot machine just to get what we want sometimes. When we aren’t at our best or we’re having a bad day, we return to Jesus to ask for help. We should always return to Jesus no matter what kind of day or week we’ve had.
Today the Scripture told me that we need to believe in Jesus Christ and all that he has done for us. What stuck out to me was the question said in the scripture, who is Jesus for you. This stuck to me because you always have to answer it because he does so much for us he is our savior. You always have to remember that. We can tell him anything and ask him for help or we can pray to him and he will respond.
Is He a slot machine where you put petitions in and expect Him to grant your every wish in return?
This stuck out to me because we try to take Jesus for granted. We pray to Him every once in a while because we need him for something. We will always try and promise Him that we will come talk to Him later or that we are sorry for not praying and we will come back later.
Do we know about Jesus or do we know Jesus?
This also stuck out to me because we should try to be friends with Jesus not just know He’s there and say “Hi” every once in a while. We should know Jesus and talk to Him daily. Jesus died for us and this isn’t even close to repaying Him, by being friends with Him, but He will be happy that we came back to Him.
What stuck out to me was that Herod wanted to hear and learn from St.John, and when his daughter was told to tell Herod to behead St.John, he was put under pressure from his friends and famliy. All he wanted to do was to learn the truth about Jesus, just like every other human.
Something that stuck out to me was when Herod said, “Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” I think the answer was Jesus. What I learned from this scripture is that Jesus is almost always the answer, so if we need help we should go to Jesus and pray to him.
We go to confession acting like it isn’t a big deal and then we sin over and over again because we know Jesus will forgive us. He wants us to follow him, we need to start picking up the Bible learning his real identity and going to mass every Sunday.
Herod was confused when people told him that someone was here. Some said the it was John, others said it was Elijah, and still others said it was one of the ancient prophets.
The person was Jesus.
If you are a srevant of Jesus Christ you can’t get hurt.Like john people thought he was dead but since he believed in Christ he did not get hurt.
Jesus is the most important thing in life, that when we sin, we should go to confession because we want to be with God in heaven and we want true happiness. Harod beheaded John in the Gospel and after that people started talking about a new prophet who they thought was John when it actually was Jesus.
in the gospel today people kept on saying that they saw john after he died or that they saw elijah these were signs of the identity of jesus christ.
in the gospel today people kept on saying that they saw john after he died or that they saw elijah these were signs of the identity of Jesus Christ.
Jesus is our savior, and he longs to be so. He died for you, and rose for you. Let him help you. Go to him with questions and requests. Tell him whats on your heart!
“And he kept trying to see him.” I love that line because I want to find Jesus in everything. I look for him. We can’t visibly see him but he’s still there and his love for us is still there.
When people started hearing about Jesus they didn’t really know who he was but us in today’s age we know who he is through the bible and Mass but we don’t truly know who he is until we fully let him in our life it is not like we ask our sins to be forgiven and he does if we truly don’t mean it that is what the scripture said to me
When people started hearing about Jesus they didn’t really know who he was but us in today’s age we know who he is through the bible and Mass but we don’t truly know who he is until we fully let him in our life it is not like we ask our sins to be forgiven and he does if we truly don’t mean it that is what the scripture said to me.
Herod beheaded John because he wanted to look cool in front of his friends and not make him a fool of promise that he broke of his daughter. we need to know that we need to be ourselves and not act like we have to be like our friends. we live in a corrupt world in which we act like we need to be cool. that’s not what god wanted us to be.
King Herod failed to see God but we must never forget.
Today’s scripture is about how Herod was perplexed on how john was back from the dead but he was not it was also not a prophet either
it was Jesus
When people saw Jesus the first time, they didn’t know who he was. For us to know Jesus we must pray and pay attention in mass.
“John has been raised from the dead” I think it means that Jesus will raise us and others up to heaven like he has risen from the dead.
By the beheading w have to stay strong to fight for our faith to life for God and prasie God.
I think that Jesus was saying that God and Jesus are trying to teach and talk to us. We as humans and Cristians we need to listen and talk back to God as he is talking back to us. God made us to worship him and how do that is by going to Mass and praying, and when we go to Mass we are talking to Him a person and yet he is God at the same time.
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph. God can’t open your heart you have to open your own heart and love one another.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us go to Mass more often, read the Bible, and and always believe in him.
Today the gospel was saying that Jesus is really here! He spoke messages through John the baptist and Elijah but we need to really listen. His voice comes in a small whisper and when we say prayers, we can’t just recite them. We have to think about them.
Today’s scripture something that stuck out to me is when Jesus said ´’Who then is this about whom i hear such things¨ Which he is saying that we need to realize who Jesus is!! and that i think Herod wanted to know what everybody was saying, Herod didn’t know that later in the gospels Jesus identities would be revealed.
We need to love Jesus all the time and not when we need him for something that went bad and that is the only time you pray. Jesus wants us to love him always and not use him. We always need to have faith for Jesus and not use him.
We need to get to know Jesus and not just learn about him. We need to create a relationship with him. We need to spend time with him every day not just when we need something. What stuck out to me was the question “who is Jesus?” we need to know Jesus not just act like we do.
If we sin all the time and just go to confession and don’t mean it we will not make it to heaven. God dose not want us to think that way. Jesus is our savior and we should worship him with joy.
I think this scripture verse is telling us to not underestimate the power of God, because He has risen people from the dead, and His son has performed many miracles. When Jesus was starting to be talked of around Herod, nobody knew who Jesus was. Herod was perplexed, because he had killed John the baptist, and he couldn’t believe any of the other rumors. Herod did not believe in God, even as an enemy.
Jesus calls us to be friends with him to know him like we know our best friends. Jesus only put us on this earth to know and learn about him and to be his friend. Jesus can’t wait for the day when we talk to him like a friends and truly know Jesus not just know ABOUT him.
This stuck out to me. As a baptized believer in Jesus Christ Our duty is to reject Satan and Follow Jesus more closely ever day Strive for Holiness. Jesus gave all for you he died on the cross for you, are you willing to give all to him? He wants go give you true happiness. This shows that just like Jesus gave all for us we to need to give all for. We can do this by going to mass and praying, and reading the bible.
That we need to believe in God and all what he has done for us.
“One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” God’s power has no limitations whatsoever. He could destroy the universe with the snap of his fingers. He could reveal himself to us, but we would disentigrate at the sight of such power. Resurrecting someone from the dead is a menial task for him.
We hear a bunch of people saying different things about who God is. Today we know who He is but do we believe that’s who He is? Today pray for the strength to believe in the only One True God because you know who He is.
We need to go to confeesipn for our sins. Oqn them and do what is right. After it will make you feel soo much better We need to remeber we all make mistakes but jesus will always be there no matter what.
“And he kept trying to see him.” We need to open our eyes up to see God. It can be easy to get tempted, but we need to lift our head up and turn to God. Jesus died in order to save us, and then came back to fulfill the prophecy. We must listen to God and trust that he will take care of us.
God is saying that even though things on Earth happen, Jesus an Earth can change what happened like how Herod beheaded John and then Jesus rose John from the dead.
Jesus for me is someone we can always come to and will always listen to, know matter how our day went we can come back and talk to him, tell him our struggles, tell him what’s good in our lives. He’s someone we can always come back to to tell him what we are thankful for and someone we can talk to at the end of the day.
What I think Jesus is trying to tell me is that we have to get to know who he is. He wants me to open up my bible and read it to figure out who He is. He wants me to go to mass to figure out who He is.He wants me to pray to him to figure out who He is. He wants me to do this so I can understand him better.
This is telling us that we need to believe in God, because people were saying He was one of the prophets coming back to life, just as Jesus resurrects after He died.
Jesus gave us all of him and we need to return the favor. We cannot just simply expect everything to go our way because we know of Jesus and about his life. We need to know him, like REALLY know him. We need to strive to follow him ourselves and give him our whole selves without having him come to us. We need to go to him because he is our Father.
To actually follow God we need to go to church every Sunday and pay attention to whats happening. We also need to read the bible every night to build a relationship with God or to make it stronger.
We need to love and adore Jesus because we do not know how much time we have
But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?”
Herod is confused. Everyone thought that John was the messiah. But we all know he’s not John was like the preview. Jesus was the main event. Think of a football game. There is a pregame and a real game and a post game show. The post game shows all of the highlights and all of the great plays. In the same way, we need to be the post game show. We need to love like Jesus and mimick what he did. Don’t be afraid to follow Christ.
People were saying that John will be raised from the dead, but Herod who beheaded John did not believe them. Herod asked the people who were telling them that, because Herod had obviously killed him. Herod did not believe that John would be raised from the dead, but God can do anything. He is our almighty Father. The King of the World. We need to believe in Him.
what stuck out to me was “As a baptized believer in Jesus Christ our duty is to reject Satan and follow Jesus more closely each day (strive for holiness). Jesus gave all for you, are you willing to give all for Him? He wants to give you true happiness.” i think it’s trying to say that Jesus loves everyone and asking if you want to give some of that love back.
This parable shows that even now we are still trying to figure out who Jesus is. People now and people then still try to understand Him. And if we pray and try to listen to Him in silence, it can help us get to know Him better.
King Herod is confused. We are like king Herod in the fact we are confused, we get confused because there are too many religions and we can’t always just pick all of them. If we are not careful we could make a wrong choice or assumption. We know that the other religions are either partly or completely false. We must not be confused and know with all our being that Jesus ,who rose from the dead, Is God.
Herod doesn’t want to believe there’s a new prophet until he sees him with his own eyes. We cant expect everything that’s true just to be real only if we see it with our own eyes. That’s why you have to have faith when believing in something you truly believe in. When you really believe in something you don’t need to see it for yourself.
Jesus is asking if we follow him, pray to him, and worship him. He wants us to love him and obey him. We have to follow and obey his rules. We have to honestly obey him and can’t just do things because we know that he will forgive us. We have to be truthful to ourselves and him.
people dont know what is happening so they speculate and everyone gets confused. the church is confusing. so is the faith. our mission is to see through it and love God anyway.
What stuck out to me was that Herod wanted to hear and learn from St.John. And when his daughter was told to tell Herod to behead St.John. He was put under pressure from his friends and family. All he wanted to do was to learn the truth about Jesus. Just like every other human.
people dont know what is happening so they speculate and everyone gets confused. the church is confusing. so is the faith. our mission is to see through it and love God anyway.
in the scripture Herod is confused because people are saying that John rose from the dead but it was actually Jesus are savior the person who will guide us to Heaven.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that We should listnen to him as he speaks
“Most importantly, do we go to Mass, read the Bible on our own, and spend time in adoration with Jesus listening to what He has to say?”
no matter if you do these thing Jesus still loves you and he will never stop
i feel like this reading was about trusting in god though you cant see him, herod didnt trust in him he wouldnt believe jusus was real untill he saw with his eyes.
we need to trust no matter what we nedd to feel his love within the church and holyspirit. Jesus loves you!
In the Scripture we see Herod being perplexed by Jesus. Who is He? Have you ever asked yourself that question? When you hear the name Jesus what do you think of? I think of someone who is kind, and smiles and is full of love and joy. Jesus just reminds me of love how He loved even those who wanted to kill Him. I think today the Scripture is asking us: Who is Jesus to you?
“Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him. ” This stuck out to me because Herod wanted to know who all the people were talking about. I think Herod was perplexed because he was unaware of what was happening. Because Herod did not know who Jesus was.
In this scripture reflection I was reminded that our sin has consequences and that God is not a slot machine. God loves us and wants to get to know us, He is willing to forgive but we cannot take advantage of it.
Do we sin knowing we can just go to confession so it is no big deal because Jesus will forgive us . We use God, we use him when we need him like a genie in a lamp. We sin then we are like oh it doesn’t matter He will forgive me but we need to know it isn’t right. We need to know we should be correcting whatever we do and say I didn’t mean that but we say it is fine it doesn’t matter if God will just forgive me. No! He wants you to be better at being you and be Holy in His name. He wants us to be the best we can be but if we think He will just forgive us we are going to know where.
The part that stuck out to me was “Who then is this about whom I hear such things?”
And he kept trying to see him.” and Herod wants to know who all the people are trying to tell him and talk about.
I liked the gospel today becuase it kinda reminded me of how when someone tells me something absurd thats true that i trust I dont always believe them. I think it is trying to tell us to believe people more often even though it might seem false and don’t believe things on the internet that are too good to be true
Jesus is asking us if we truly love him and pray to him. Just as he did Peter, even though Peter denied him. We should not deny Jesus as Peter did, and we should except him into our life and soul.
i think that this scripture is about how we shouldn’t believe all the things others say like rumors and stuff like,” he was greatly perplexed because some were saying,“John has been raised from the dead” ;others were saying, “Elijah has appeared” ;still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” we should not believe rumors because most of the time they are lies and the people don’t know the back round story and are just assuming stuff.
Herod was trying to find out who and where Jesus was. He was so distracted by his own “authority” and “power” that he wasn’t just gonna let Jesus run around the streets preaching to people. However, what is popular is not always right; what is right is not always popular. So Jesus obviously isn’t John the Baptist, or Elijah. He’s Jesus, The One and Only Christ our Savior and King. Jesus is the way to justice. He is the way to salvation and Heaven.
We have to take the precepts of the church more seriously. We can’t just go to confession and then sin right after just because you know you are going to go again. Christianity is not just a set of rules we follow it is the relashionship we from with God.
Confession is at our grasp at basically any moment, but we shouldn’t abuse it. If we just sin and sin and sin then we are just using Jesus as a slot machine/thing that just grants us our wishes. Obviously most people go to confession an uncountable amount of times in their life, but those should be intentional, He isn’t a slot machine.
who is Jesus? who is He? He has a relationship with us, He is with us in our hearts. But who is He? He is God, Our savior, The creator. without Him and His sacrifice, no one would be here on earth. He is the Lord, Let’s follow him and do what we were created to do. To love and serve Him.
The words humbly submit yourself to God are one of the most important things you can be told
I think God is trying to tell us that he will never lie to us and when he tells us something its true.
Today the Scripture told me that we need to believe in Jesus Christ and all that he has done for us.Confession is at our grasp at basically any moment, but we shouldn’t abuse it.Jesus is asking us if we truly love him and pray to him. Just as he did Peter, even though Peter denied him.
“Do we go to Mass, read the Bible on our own, and spend time in adoration with Jesus listening to what He has to say? Jesus is about to reveal His identity in the upcoming Gospel readings. Listen to what He says and decide if you really believe. If so, it requires a radical change in your life. ” This was really touching and meaningful to me.
Jesus is trying to say I am here I am ready to save the world from sin I am ready to killed on the cross to save the pure souls of the lord and show new life in the lord. who is he the almighty lord.
We need to take our faith more seriously. We are always given the opportunity to confess our sins to god and explain to him our reasoning but we push it aside and choose other things that have less worth than god.
We should listen when he speaks to us in prayer.
In today’s scripture I think God was trying to tell us to believe in him and always know that He is here for us and that he will always be here if we need Him.
i think jesus is wanting us to know to reject Satan and follow Jesus and become a better christian then we already are we should at least do that cause jesus can forgive us for what we did later that week or day.
Todays scripture reading was about to always follow in what Christ does and to never believe in the devil.
God has created us for one purpose, to love and serve him as he gave up his only son Jesus Christ our savior. God is calling us all to be like Christ to join him in the heavens. We all should live out our lives as we were meant to live them. Life here isn’t about all the distractions or the things that pull us away from God.
What stuck out to me was that we dont worry when we sin because we know hes going to forgive us but if we are not sorry then whats the point? Confession is not something we should take advantage of because not everyone gets to do it.
We have to listen to God through the things that he gives us like the bible or the mass or confession we have to listen to him because he is the one that will guide us in life and he will guide us to heaven so we need to open up our hearts and listen to him.
What was sticking out to me was that we don’t just need to learn about Jesus we should get to know him as well. I also feel like Jesus wants us to be his friend and not just learn about him and not care about the stuff he did for us.
A lot of people think as soon as they finish going to confession they can just go off and sin right off of the bat. We need to learn to see our own faults and learn from our actions. We can’t just always say “Ehh. God will forgive me” yes, he does but, we can’t just rely on that all of the time. We need to ask God for help.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we should all go to confession even if our sins are very bad.God will still love you and he will always forgive you even if the sin is bad. We should all reject Satan and go to Heaven with God, Jesus,Mary, and all of the saints. My favorite line from the passages is when it said “John has been raised from the dead”.
We should not use confession as a come and go thing. Some people tend to sin again and again and most of the time it’s the same thing over and over thinking “I’ll be fine I can just go to confession” The problem with that is we are not guaranteed a tomorrow so we need to try and avoid temptations and go to confession regularly.
“Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” This scripture is trying to tell us to open our eyes to Jesus and let him lead us. Herod is perplexed because he doesn’t know who everybody is talking about, he doesn’t know Jesus. This scripture is so important because we need to open our hearts for Jesus and try to get to know who he is and what he does for us.
9/28 Harod is unaware of what Luke is talking about because Luke was talking about Jesus and it sounded like he was talking about John the Baptist and Herod had killed John the Baptist so Herod got confused.
Jesus is not the slot machine that we use over and over hoping to win something good something to be proud of in ourselves, but Jesus already thinks were good enough, he knows that were good enough. He believes we can do something great in life and he put it in our lives not only the good does he put in our life but our cross we carry. Everyone’s is different, this cross is not a cross it is a reminder that we cant get through life without him. It is perfectly balanced just for you, its not to heavy but not to light. Jesus in my life is special and I adore him forever.
Herod is scared because john had risen from the dead and Herod is scared because he beheaded john
We shouldnt use Jesus as a slot machine or an object. Jesus is greater than objects.
Some things that I thought was interesting was that at the end it said” Christi any is not a set of rules to follow”. I think that that is very good and lot’s of people need to hear that because some people think that we aren’t allowed to have fun or hang out with friends to get to heaven but it actually says the exact opposite, because if you have good friends than they will help you to get to heaven and other goals that you have for yourself.
When it said: “Christ isn’t any rule to follow.” I think this is important, because when we follow him, its a choice. And we do it, because we care about him and what he thinks. He will always be there for us, and care about us, no matter how we feel about him, or what actions we do/make.
