“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” LK 6:27-38

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading LK 6:27-38: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

Today’s Gospel is taken from Luke’s Sermon on the Plain which is similar to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. The section today’s Gospel is taken from is “Love of Enemies” and how to treat our neighbor. What speaks to my heart the most is that we are all sinners.

We fail to do the Father’s Will by judging, condemning, being selfish, labeling, and sinning. I often see this in myself as a father trying to teach my own children to be holy. It’s hard. I sometimes get on them about something when I don’t model it well myself. It doesn’t mean that I stop disciplining with tough love, but I try to be mindful of how I am living what I am teaching them myself.

God will be the final judge of our lives and it will be based on love not what we have accomplished. We are called to judge as fathers, mothers, teachers, judges, etc., but when we judge it must be based on God’s laws. The Light will reveal whatever is in the darkness. We can’t hide anything from God.

He is love and mercy with justice. He has compassion (suffers with) on us, but He taught us sin has serious consequences.  His love and mercy are so great that He gave His only Son to die for us.  God’s love is more powerful than anything in the world!  This is why He is so radical to teach to even love our enemies.  This is crazy talk!  This is radical love!  God’s love overcomes everything and He wants to share it with you.

We are called to recognize the love and mercy the Father has for us, so that we too can love and be merciful to others. Are you willing to lose your pride and think of others before yourself in all that you do today?

Today’s challenge: Try to live without judging today, what someone is wearing, how they look, how they talk, what they said, and if they say something that hurts or offends you, be ready to forgive. Love the unlovable in your world today.  Give expecting nothing in return. It’s hard being a Christian! Only with God’s grace can we fulfill what Jesus wants us to do in today’s Gospel and become “perfect (holy) like the heavenly Father is perfect”.

Be a servant, be a saint today!

I think Jesus is trying to tell us that if someone does something rude or mean to us then don’t retaliate. There will be consequences. And if we do these things we will always be a child of the Father.

I think Jesus is saying that no matter what people do to you they are still Gods creation and should be treated with the utmost respect no matter who they are. Loving your enemies is a radical belief but it is what we believe in and what we live by as Catholics.

We usually spend our time around others judging them. And then we choose people we don’t like and will be rude to. that is a horrible thing that we humans need to get out of. we need to learn to love

    “Love of Enemies”
This means to love our enemies, even if they don’t love you. We are taught to love like the Lord would love. We shouldn’t judge, condemn, be selfish, and label others. Instead we are called to spread the word of the Lord and be the followers of Jesus Christ, our one true Savior. So, go out, spread the word of the Lord, and love others the way Jesus would.

A thing that I got out of this was that we must be respectful to all people, in this world today, there are so many different things out there that are trying to make us think the opposite of Jesus, in the gospel it says,”If someone slaps you on the cheek, turn the other.” This is exactly what we should do, we should respect each other, and other people’s opinions, yet many people will not do the same, people do not like the bible or people that are associated to a religion, but we have to be able to love the people that do not love us back, even if they are mean to us, and even if they want to kill us. The whole person that we follow for this religion, died a horrific death, why should we excpect anything different.

We are sinners, but God is perfect. He shows compassion, mercy, and love. That’s why we need to follow God’s example. He shows us the way to heaven, and how to be like him. He loves us with his whole heart, so shouldn’t we love him with ours too? jesus, in the sermon on the plains, tells people that they need to love everyone, regardless of who they are. He asks us to follow his example, so that we might be able to get to heaven, and to help others get there too. He also says to love your enemies. This doesn’t mean we have to be best friends, but he asks us to see them the way he sees them. He asks us not to hold a grudge, or to continue to hate them. SO follow Jesus! He is perfect, so let us try to model him.

I think that God is trying to tell me that I need to not try and be someone I am not, because no matter what He loves me just as much as He does everyone else in the world, as it says in the scripture,” His Love is RADICAL” he loves me for who I am not who I think I need to be. He will always forgive us and he will always love us with all he has, he gave us his only son and He gave up His only Son, Jesus died for us, what more could someone do than suffer on the cross like Jesus did.

People always say be a reflection of Christ. I think that is what the gospel is talking about today. People are so caught up in them selves and don’t think of others. When you are a reflection of Christ you love those who have done wrong to you and you forgive them. You don’t hold a grudge and you forgive just as Jesus forgives you when you sin.

In today’s gospel God is talking about how you should turn your left cheek after someone has hit you in the face already. After this he says even sinners love the people that love them. This relates to us in the fact that if we only like the people that also like us how are we going to meet new people and try to bring them closer to God. God says that we should lend everything expecting nothing in return. This really sticks out to me because if you have ever done a charity to help people and you see them smiling it makes you so internally happy. This statement is what gets us to heaven because the more we give and the less we receive the more other people have to live. Even helping sinners gets us closer to heaven because sinners are still people and they deserve help to try to get to heaven.

What I think Today’s Gospel is about is really the golden rule, “Treat others how you want to be treated”. We need to follow this rule because like the Gospel says “Do to others as you would have them do to you”. This is basically saying that if we want to be treated with respect we must treat others with respect.

In this Gospel it talks about how to be good to your enemies which to me is saying to be the better person. In the Gospel it talks about If you lend money and expect repayment what good is that credit is that too you because you are really not doing anything good if you are just getting back what you just gave them. It even says sinners lend to sinners and still get back the same amount. Instead Jesus says to do good and not expect anything back in return and then we will be in the Children of most High.

“God’s love is more powerful than anything in the world!” Today I think God is trying to tell me that as long as He loves you then everything will be okay. Even when its our hardest time in life God will still loves us for being alive and being His child. Life can get hard but don’t let that stop you from not loving God, after all He did forgive Adam and Eve and loves them very much. They did something very wrong, but God still loved them with all of His heart. So even when someone is mean to you, you should keep on loving them, you don’t know what they are going through so don’t judge and instead love them.

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us to love our enemies and be merciful, giving, and to only expect God’s love to come from our good deeds. Jesus tells us to do unto others as we would have them do to us. Jesus also says “For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.” Whatever we give to people on here on earth will be rewarded greatly in heaven. Jesus loves all of us!

Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you”
On judging day God will not look at what we have, like money, clothes, and popularity. God will look at our kindness to others and how we lived to be like Him. “If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?” If you expect something for what you are doing then what’s the point? If you only do kind things to say you did somthing good then is it really that good.

“But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you”this is the most important part in life. We should always love our enemies, even though its gonna be hard Jesus did it and never complained. When someone persecutes us we should never hit them back we should simply say nothing because as it says “Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.” no matter what they take we can’t get it back because that would be a sign that i don’t care about you i only care about myself. We should never judge our gossip behind people, when someone judges someone we get so mad and that’s where the attack goes. Judging is saying that i am better than you in every way like you are perfect. Well your not no one will ever be perfect in no matter what they do. Gossip is a way to tell a lie about someone and we should never hurt them like that. we should be open to another and love everyone when we don’t want to, we should never judge to say I am better than you, and you should never gossip because that’s a way to ruin a friendship and you aren’t showing love to them. instead say to yourself “what would Jesus do.”

So if you love your enemies Jesus will be proud and others will hopefully treat you with respect but you have to earn it.

“To you who hear I say, love your enemies.” In today’s Gospel, God told me to love my enemies, even when they hurt us. If you try to get revenge, it will just be like bullying your bully, and that’s not right. It is tempting, but if we are good to those who hurt us, then we will receive good things and they will recieve karma.

God is trying to tell us the Love of Enemies and how to treat our neighbor. It doesn’t mean that I have to stop disciplining with tough love, you have to try to be mindful of how you are living and what I’m teaching them myself. Always treat them as you wanted to be treated.

“To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.” I think this means that we need to still be kind and respectful to those who hurt us even though it may be hard.

What I received from this reflection was that what we accomplish in this life will mean nothing in the next life. If we have the newest pair of shoes or the best clothes, that won’t matter in Heaven. Any amount of followers or subscribers you have has no determination for getting to Heaven. All you need is to pray and be loyal and faithful to the Lord and you will be granted Heaven and Eternal life with God.

In today’s Gospel, God told the Disciples that they should love our enemies. We should do that because EVERYONE is made by God’s image and that means that if we hate our enemies, we don’t like God. Instead of hating our enemies, we should respect them and maybe get along with them. “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”. I like this saying because we need to love everyone so that we can go to Heaven.

God would love us no matter what and he does. every time we sin do you think God starts to love us less? No! he never does and he never will. so be like Christ and spread love and joy.

What stuck out to me was that Jesus tells us not to retaliate. Retaliating means to use force to try to equalize the damage done upon you. As I was saying, Jesus tells us to not fight back but to even help them with their evilness. “from the person who takes your cloak,
do not withhold even your tunic.”

Jesus is telling us to love all. He is reminding us that even though someone may do wrong to us we still need to remember that they are also his children. When others do wrong to us doing wrong back just continues and perpetuates the sin, but being the bigger person and ending it with you will not only be better on your soul but theirs as well.

On judgment day Jesus will not judge on popularity, money, clothes or any of those worldly things. You will be judged on how you treated others and how you acted, not on how wealthy you are. I think Jesus is trying to tell me that the only things that matter when it comes to judgment day is how you treated others and how you tried to be the best version of yourself.

“Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause my brother to sin.” In this phrase we are being told to help others stay away from sin. One way we can help others is by leading by example. If our friend sees us doing something that they later do, we would be the cause of the sin. If we stay away from the sin, our friend will follow us and also not commit the sin.

On the day of your judgment he will see that you gave away yourself for the love of him and others and you will live in paradise with him, just like how he said “A good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. You must love them and treat them like they are the son or daughter of God. You need to show kindness to everyone even when they make it hard. If we want to get to heaven then we have to love everyone no matter what they do to us and if we like them or not. Do not do nice deeds to get nice deeds done to you. Today the Gospel talks about loving your enemies. it’s easy for us to love our friends and loved ones, but what about our enemies? God loves even the worst sinners. How would we feel if he just gave up on us like we do to other people? Instead, we should view the people we don’t get along with as fellow children of God, because He loves them just like He loves us. The Gospel also kind of explains the Golden Rule. If the way you treat someone isn’t the way you would like to be treated, how can you expect to be treated the way you want when you are disrespecting them? Respect and love is a two way street, and everyone involved has to make an effort to make it worth it.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.
that sounds like part of the golden rule to me AKA the greatest comandment.
“But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back”
another part of it if you put these 2 things together it is the greatest comandment,
also it is the meaning of stewardship.

I think the Gospel is trying to say that we will be judged when we die. God will decide if we go to heaven or hell .If we want to go to heaven then we have to love everyone. People don’t know how much they sin until it’s too late. The average person lies about 1-15 times a day. lying is braking one of the commandments. People think that only bad people break the commandments but everyone does and they still will. a lot of things that people do that they might think aren’t bad is usually against a commandment.

What God is trying to tell us here is to love your enemies and treat others the way you want to be treated. Even if someone is being rude to you, don’t retaliate without purpose. Say nothing and let them finish, God will judge them and maybe they will see their own transgression. God also says to not judge, only he can judge. It’s also telling us to see our own transgressions. If we fight back without purpose and sort of escalate the situation with fierce language, it can get back to you later. Being mean is like a boomerang, it will come back to you some day and perhaps break you or fill you with regret.

“Do to others as you would have them do to you” We are taught to follow this commandment at a very young age. It seems easy to think about, but hard to do. Like when you try your best to make others feel loved, but recieve nothing in return. We have to remember the bigger picture in these times and think about what Jesus would have wanted us to do. And continue to pray for them.

It even says sinners lend to sinners and still get back the same amount. Instead Jesus says to do good and not expect anything back in return and then we will be saved.
