Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,
and news of him spread throughout the whole region.
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up,
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day.
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them,
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him
and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. Lk 4:14-22
Jesus reveals the greatest Truth today, He is the Messiah. He stands in His home Temple, reads the prophecy of Isaiah, then says, “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing”. Is there any other way we need to hear it then straight from His mouth? Jesus just spoke to the world, He is the Messiah. The One to set us free from sin and death and reconcile us, the poor sinner, with God. This is life changing, it is revolutionary. It is the most bold statement by any person. Either Jesus is who He says He is or He is a bad man. -Bishop Barron
Therefore, it is easy to see why the Jews rejected Him. He was a poor man (from the other side of town), the son of a carpenter, an ordinary family. When He reveals himself to his closest companions, the disciples, they often have a hard time believing him and reject him, too. It is so difficult to wrap our heads around the idea that Jesus was the God-Man.
Love changes that for all of us. As John closes his letter in the first reading, he says, “And the victory that conquers the world is our faith”. Human reason can only take us so far. We must take the leap and rely on faith. It is a difficult leap, but it conquers the world and leads us to the promised land. Do you believe? Are you ready to start loving? Love is a decision. It is what we are designed for and how we have entered into existence. Stop fighting it, stop doubting, and begin not only to exist, but live. St. Pope John Paul II said the Christian life is “a great adventure”. ”Be not afraid”. Start living!
Today’s challenge: Prove to God you love Him by following the commandments and treating others the way you want to be treated. Love. Believe.
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
i can prove to God i love by being obedient to my parents and go to mass on Sundays
We need to trust in God no matter what. He is the only person who can truly save us. We need to show the Holy Spirit to others through us.
Jesus reveals the truth to us. He is the Messiah. We have to rely on faith, take the leap, and we will be led into the promised land. It is difficult for us to wrap our minds around the fact that Jesus is human and Divine.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling us to go and preach the word of God and to do what ever he tells us wherever we are.
This scripture made me more confident to open up about myself just like Jesus did. This scripture also boosted me to be able to push through the tough times like Jesus did when he was persecuted.
That Jesus is the only one we should follow and he will help us get to heaven we just have to listen and pray.
I can apply this to my life by listening to him through prayer. I can also wait to listen to him if he doesn’t respond to me, also just wait and me more patient in general.
How I will bring this scripture reading into my life is by trusting my faith and relying on God just as John said. We need to stop doubting and start believing. “Be not afraid”
I will reflect upon this scripture by proclaiming the word of God
I can apply this to my daily life by praying more often and asking the holy spirit what he wants me to do with my life.
I can reflect on this scripture by believing in God and having more faith.
I honestly don’t really know what to say about this one. The Gospel passage takes the words right out of my mouth. Literally speaking, the people listening to him knew him as the child of Joseph, and not of God. Later they kicked him out his own birth place and he went of to Jerusalem to die there. How would you feel if you just got kicked out of your own town for saying the truth? That honestly would kind of make me laugh. If Wichita was about to be attacked, and the people weren’t prepared but only I knew the truth and no one believed me to the point I was kicked out, I would laugh. It’s sad but true. But Jesus is different, he saves the Nazareans even though they kicked him out, in fact, he saved all of us.
And going to mass on Sundays
Jesus is talking about how because they listened to him they fulfilled the passage they just read.
As Catholic we are supposed to love Jesus and everyone. To gt to heaven we need to grow in a relationship with Jesus and learn to love one another.
I can apply this to my life by trusting in God. By listening to what he says and by living the life he gives me. Everything God does for me is for a reason and I need to trust and believe in God that he will guide me along the best way.
God set us free from sin and reconcile.
If we are obendient and faithful to God and always believe in him to get us what we need to get to heaven, we will become more faithful.
God is the only one who can truly save us and has told us we can enter heaven. we now have hope for something after death to be with God.
We as Christians often try to remember that God saves. We go to mass we pray and we do all of the Catholic things. But we often just go through the motions we are so distracted by our materialistic world we Don’t truly realize God saves we don’t fully let him in our boat because we think we will not be as happy. We think in this materialistic world that we need material things to be happy we live God but we also love this. We want God but we also want this we never think God is good enough Many of us think “Eternal happiness I want to be happy now” we think that is to good to be true, what we want so bad Happiness forever but we can’t wait we want it now we are selfish, self centered, impatient. We must realize all we need is God no Xbox or Phone. We spend more time playing games than praying because we think they will make us happy. God will make you happy that is it God will make you happy forever Earthly things will make you happy for a little but. Wake up! Pray more love him he is the only way to what we want!
In today’s scripture Jesus goes back to his home town of Nazareth to preach in the synagogue. When he speaks he says, “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.” and all spoke highly of him. What I can take away from this passage is, that You need to believe all that God speaks. Because he speaks in wonderful ways. He is all truth and no lie.
In today’s scripture God is telling us to preach the word to others, and that we should trust God in what he says and in what he does.
In this scripture God is telling us to go spread his word. He does not want us to just stay inside all day and play video games and eat chips, he wants to go out into the world and spread his goodness to everyone who will listen to us.
We can give our time to the church by reading the scriptures at Sunday mass.
In today’s scripture, it says is reminding us that when we have doubts about Jesus and The Father, we need to remember that He loves us and we love Him. We can’t believe if we don’t love.
Jesus reveals to his hometown that he is the messiah, but the people there grew up with him and watched him grow, yet they still believed. We should be like them and have strong faith.
Today’s scripture is about preaching the word to God, and listening to God.
God is the who can save us from our sins. We need to fully trust in him, do as he says, and we will get the great reward.
I can apply this to my life by showing how much I love Jesus by following the commandments and praying.
In this passage, Jesus is talking in a synagogue and it says “and everyone spoke highly of him”. We should apply this to our own lives by not being materialistic, but relying on God to sustain us and be our hope. If we are materialistic, it takes away the whole point of the Mass and what it means to be Catholics, which means what we are learning about our faith, if we follow the example of this materialistic world, will be for nothing. We all need to concentrate on being the best Catholics we can be and rely on God completely in this New Year.
I can apply this to my life by being obedient to God. I can also believe in Him when He speaks to me during prayer/Adoration. Lastly, I can praise and worship Him for all the great doings he has done in our world.
I can follow Jesus more and pay more attention to the scriptures and try to listen to Jesus’ teachings and use them in my life so that way I know that I will be ready whenever the second coming happens.
I can apply this to my life by listening to what God has for us and following his word.
We need to trust in God no matter what and we should listen to him and pray.
I have heard this passage many times and this is the one that actually stuck out to me.In this passage Jesus is reading off a scroll from the prophet and the prophet is saying that the spirit of the Lord is upon him and that he is doing goods deeds and helping the poor.
In today’s gospel We are brought through the Holy Spirit to God and all his glory and in today’s reading he is plainly saying that he Loves us so much that he sent his only son.
Jesus is telling us to go out and spread the word and let him in our boat
I can apply this to my life by going to tell the word of the Lord like Jesus and not care what anyone thinks.
In this passage it shows us that it is really hard to understand how a man who was born into a poor family could be the Messiah. What we need to try and do is believe as best we can and try and believe in what he speaks. Jesus is the way the truth and the light. We should also treat everyone with respect and kindness even if they hurt us. Because people kicked Jesus out he still tried to show God’s love to them.
We need to believe in God. If everyone lives like God wants us to, there would be no evil in the world.
In today’s scripture Jesus helped everyone who was blind, sick, and in need by healing them. How I can use in my life is by helping anyone in need and and in help.
i can reflect by always doing what god tells me to do an it doesn’t matter where i am or what time it is .
From this I know I can preech the word of God and it can do great things.
I can apply this scripture to my life by being more patient with Jesus and trusting that Jesus will guide me to do what’s right because he knows what is best for me!
Jesus was sen to earth to save us all from our sins
The scripture today tells us that we need to listen to God when He talks to us. We must do what He wants/needs.
I’m not completely sure of this passage and its meaning. However, it does hold importance as one of Jesus’ life stories. The only thing I really got out of this is no-one trusted Jesus as the Son Of God. He was an ordinary Joe. To show how he was degraded. But that’s really all I got I’m not sure what else I can say.
We have to trust God. He is our Savior. We have to put our whole mind and heart into Him and trust Him. WE should ask for Him to guide us and fully trust Him.
Today Jesus had gone to Nazareth to preach to the people. He told them that he is God and that the spirit is upon him. I can use this in my life by knowing that Jesus is God and I can trust him. We need to believe that Jesus is really God to truly believe anything he says.
Jesus helped many people and cured many people. I can do this by helping anyone who needs it at anytime.
What I think God is telling me today is that I should be ready for when he comes again. By that I mean, He says that what he read is being fulfilled. The Kingdom of God is at hand! We must be vigilant for the master of the house.
In today’s scripture passage Jesus proclaimed that he is The Messiah, the son of God our father. No one that was listening to him believed that what he was saying was the truth. I can learn from this by trusting in God no matter what.
Jesus indirectly reveals to the people that He is the Messiah. All of the people in the synagogue were amazed at how wise he sounded when he finished his reading. We need to be wise in our own lives; just because we are not the Messiah doesn’t mean that we can’t be wise and holy people. In order to be wise, you have to love sincerely and most importantly believe in God.
I can apply this to my life by trusting and listening to God. God has a plan for everyone and everything happens for a reason.
Jesus has revealed to us that he is the Messiah. We must choose to believe him or reject him like the Jews did. It can be easy to reject him because he spoke the truth.
I can apply this to my life by listening for God and hearing his plan for me. This is very important because we need to follow him. I can pray to him to guide me on my way.
God is amazing in his ways and i think god made all these scriptures to speak to us personally.
I can apply this to my life by proclaiming the word of God, and not being afraid to do so. I can also trust in God to make sure that I do it well.
He states that “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing”. Jesus is telling us that we should be doing what the Scripture tells us to do.
This passage shows that Jesus really does speak the truth. I think that we turn a blind eye to that fact because we have no proof. To us as human beings, we think he’s not real because we’ve never seen him or heard him speak. We fail to realize that God/Jesus is here with us. We can see him, he’s in your best friend, your teachers, even your enemy. Jesus is present in all of us and he always speaks the truth. The things you learn about Jesus aren’t just a part of religion, it’s what you live by as a Catholic, and it’s the truth.
I can prove to God that I love him by going to church and being nice to my family and friends. This scripture to me means to never give up on what you believe. If you know that its right and nobody else believes you you’ll probably get made fun of but it doesn’t matter because you believe what you want.
God speaks wonderful things and we need to listen. Jesus’ words can heal people. We need to keep our faith with Christ and try to be more like him every day. We can do this by going out and preaching his word.
In this scripture Jesus reads from a scroll saying “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me…..” then reads on about how the lord wants him to do all this awesome stuff. But this does not just apply to him The spirit of the Lord has come upon us as well. For He has anointed us to, maybe not to cure the blind or let the oppressed go free, but what we can do is help others discover the faith and be kind and considerate of others, to have faith in every situation even when the going gets tough. This is what we have been appointed for, this is why the spirit of the Lord is upon us. We don’t need to turn water into wine or raise the dead, but we do need to live our lives in faith and happiness and to do what God wants us to do. How hard can this be when its compared to curing leprosy or getting whipped so hard your back became raw and red. All we need to do is shut off our T.V.s and go help our neighbor clean out their garage. We won’t have to get six inch long nails shoved through our hands and feet Jesus already did that for us, he cleared all that up all we have to do is the easy stuff and if we can’t do that then we aren’t even worthy to go to hell.
Jesus reveals to us that he is the Messiah. We should always listen and believe in Jesus even when we’re in doubt.
Today Jesus reveals to us that he is God. We must recognize that Jesus is here to help us. Even when times are tough, we know that Jesus is with us. All he does for us is part of God’s plan. We have to be ready wherever, whenever he needs us.
Jesus reveals the scripture to us, like he reveals himself to us. We need to listen to what he is trying to reveal to us, and not just brush it aside. Scripture is important. When Jesus reveals it to us, we need to listen and pay attention.
Jesus has taught us many things. We can use these things that he has taught us and apply it to our lives. If we use these things, we will be holy and we will live forever in Heaven.
We need to believe in Gods word and in his teachings and follow him and pray to him. We need to learn to believe in him not matter what is happening , we should be sharing the word of God and not feel shameful or afraid to do so, we should trust him and follow him
In today’s reading it God tells us that He is the Messiah. When he went to Nazareth to preach to the people. I can take this and learn that I can also go out and tell people about God, and be Christ-like in my actions.
Jesus came to the temple to speak about God. He talked about miracles that were to be performed. He says that the Scripture will be fulfilled and it was. We have to believe in it because it is true and that will lead us closer to God.
Jesus opened himself up to everyone he never hid his love for anyone. In this way, we also need to be like him. We need to love and open ourselves up to God, the people around us and our loved ones. If people see the Lord in us, they will hopefully be moved and will also want to be more like Christ. It is part of our job as Catholics to spread the news and to be examples of God.
No one believed Jesus when he said he was the Son of God. We should pray that when Jesus comes again we will be able to recognize him.
I can apply this to my life by listening to the Gospel’s and then acting on them. I can spread the good news of the Scriptures and live them out.
Jesus speaks the truth. We need to listen to God. He goes today and reads the scriptures to the people and they were amazed. They were amazed just as we can be if we go and read the scriptures and Gospels every day. These will lead us to happiness and Holiness. He is always right by our side and we need to realize that we need to be better and believe that reading the scriptures will really help.
Even though Jesus literally said He’s the Messiah, it can be hard for us to believe Him. It’s hard because we think that Jesus only lived a long time ago, but He lives for eternity. We should have faith and take the leap. Love will help us to know Jesus.
The truth is shocking. In most cases the truth hurts or it could be taken the wrong way. Sometimes we see the truth, and instead of believing it we tell ourselves a lie. Who here would stand up in front of a crowd of and say something that would probably get you kicked out of your family, school, or even your city? I certainly wouldn’t, but that’s what Jesus did. He said the truth and nothing but the truth. Let the truth shock you and others. Don’t hide behind some lie.
What I got from this scripture was that no-one trusted Jesus as the Son Of God. He was and ordinary Joe.
In this passage, Jesus reveals to all that he is the Messiah, the Son of God, who has come to save the sinners of the world. He is cast out by the Jews because they don’t believe what he has said. If they aren’t able to hear the truth then they may fall further from the right path and then stray further from the goodness that God wants for all of us.
We must trust in God because He knows what’s all good for us. God’s words are always special and hold truth. We shall always go to Chruch on Sundays and pray to him. God has a plan for us all, and that plan is the best for us. God knows the best.
Today’s gospel talks about Jesus proclaiming that He is the Messiah. The people didn’t believe Him, so we must always trust and believe Him. Jesus can’t lie so, of course, He’s not lying about being the Messiah.
“This scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”-Jesus Christ This quote of Jesus Christ means speaks to me in saying that I have told you what to do now. Are you going to do it? It is like building legos. You lay the legos out in front of you and pull out the instructions. The legos don’t build themselves. You have to use the instructions to make whatever lego thing you are making. You have to use the instructions or the lego thing you are making will not look the way it should. In the Bible, we have the instructions. Now, what are we going to do with them?
I can apply this to my life by listening to what God is trying to tell me and start acting on what He is trying to tell me right away. Also, I can pray more to learn what God is telling me to do in my life.
Jesus wants us to listen to him through prayer. With that being said we need to try and make time to talk to God so he can guide us to heaven
In the scripture today I learned that we need to see people as normal people instead of people lower than us. If we have money that doesn’t mean anything spiritually we need to see each other as human beings instead of if they are popular/famous. We are all created in the likeness of God so we are all equal and we can do better than break each other down we can build each other up.
In today’s gospel, Jesus proclaims to the Jews that He is the Messiah. He was sent from God to heal the sick, and give sight to the blind. In today’s world, what He did on Earth gives love, forgiveness, and virtues to all that follow Him, while His followers and missionaries help others as He did. He had the courage to claim He was Messiah, knowing He would be put to death for it.
We must trust in God and believe he has a plan for us in the future he already knows how are life is going to play out. We just need to believe and go to mass and Confession and go to the days of holy obligations. God loves us he has the perfect plan laid out for us, but we just need to follow it.
Today, Jesus finally reveals to everyone in the Temple that he is the Messiah. He is the one that was sent from the father to save us from our sins. No one had heard that he was sent to save us from our sins until now. When he proclaims that he is the King of Kings, this the start of the crucifixion. This is when the Gentiles accuse him, for the first time, of blasphemy. This is the beginning of his sacrifice for our sins.
Today Jesus is reminding me that he is the Messiah. He is also telling me that his words will change my life. Everything I need to know is in the Bible. We must rely on our faith and believe that Jesus is the Messiah. If I listen to Jesus he will change my life and I will do what God wants me to do with my life. If i’m doing the Will of God I will be happy and when Jesus comes again I will be ready because I will be doing the Will of God.
I think this Scripture passage is trying to tell us that we will always have to make a decision. We would have to make the right choice, even though it’s not one people would choose. We also need to train our conscience to help us with our decision.
The lord said what was meant for him. They could not believe Jesus said that gospel of anything. I can aply this into my life by trusting God in what he has in store for me.
This is saying that Jesus is in our lives and we need to look for Him in everything we do throughout the day, and we need to follow what He is telling us to do and trust in Him.
We need to give ourselves to God. We are here because of him. He died for us so we need to give ourselves to Him. We need to stop being selfish and center our lives around Him.
It is so hard for us to believe what has been said to us. Jesus tells us he is the Messiah and we don’t believe in him. We need to listen to what God is telling us and follow him into heave.
Jesus said he was the messiah. We need to believe in him and let him guide us. He came to take our sins away and he wants to help us.
Jesus reveals to us that He was sent by God, the Father, to save us. Everyone was in awe in the synagogue. They were speaking highly on Him. Just like we all should.
I feel like God is telling that we need to trust in him because we are all in this world for a reason and we we need to find what that reason is.
I think today that God is pointing out the fact that we all worship the same God so we should all love eachother. If we all got along like Jesus and his disciples we would all live amazing lives. If all of us push eachother to be the best catholics we can than we all will be in heaven with God are almighty father
God is trying to reveal the truth to us. We just have to listen and act on it, God will guide us through our life so we can live.
I can out this into my life by trusting and listening to God as well as living the life he has given me.
I can apply this to my life by preaching the scriptures more.
In today’s scripture Jesus wants us to follow in his foot steps and do what he tells us to do in prayer and the scriptures.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is announcing to all of the Jews in the synagogue that he is the fulfillment of the prophecies that they have been waiting for. When you think about it, it’s no wonder that they Jews didn’t believe him. If you heard someone come into our Church and start preaching about how he is God, and everything written in the history of our Church is about him, you’d think he’s crazy as well. This proves how much Jesus loves us. He was willing to die on a cross, in the most humiliating way possible, all for us. He died for the Jews, for the Catholics, Muslims, Atheists, and every religion on the face of the Earth. This teaches us how we should treat others as well. Jesus was an example for us, and if he loved the same people who beat him, spit at him, and nailed him to a tree, then we should have no reserves about how we treat each other. We should treat everyone around us with love and respect because that’s what Jesus did.
We need to love God. Even though we may no love mabe even rebuke him, but he will always love us back so we must love him back and go to him in times of need.
In today’s Gospel I feel like there is a very important message Jesus died on the cross for our sins he is the true messiah if we look we are going through a bad time or something we should always look up to him for protection he is always there for us and will always answer our prayers when we ask we just have to wait and always be open when he is speaking to us.
In this scripture passage, Jesus reveals to us that he truly is the Messiah. We must follow him and trust in him. He is the one who is to save us from sin and death. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light.
Jesus tells them he is the messiah and i think this is a big deal to people during that time especially people who didn’t like him.
Today, we think that maybe God or Jesus does not exist but he does and like the people in the synagogue we are in great amazement when we find that he is. So today scripture is saying to trust that God exists.
I can apply this Gospel Scripture to my life by not rejecting God because he just wants to be in my boat.
God wants us to go and preach the word for him. He needs to know we are worthy of going to heaven. We need to go to church every Sunday and follow Gods word.
In the reading today Jesus is telling me to spread the good news and the teachings! EVEN IF YOUR 1,000 MILES FROM HOME! Spreading the Gospel (or Readings) is a great way to get others to Heaven.
Jesus speaks wonderful things. We need to always listen to him and keep our ears open to him.
This scripture made me realize that Jesus had much more to worry about than me. And that opening up about yourself is ok.
I will follow this scripture by proclaiming the word of God.
In today’s scripture passage I learned that I need to obey God and whatever I do and listen to his teachings everyday
I can apply this scripture passage to my life today my by trying to listen to God more. There is a lot he wants to tell me and i need to make more time to talk and listen to him in silence.
Today in the scripture Jesus reveals himself to us. We hear his words and understand that he is the Messiah. This shows me that I need to follow Jesus more closely because he knows all. Although he appeared to be man, he is also God.
God sent Jesus to spread the word of God and make people believe in the Father. We must do the same, we must be like Jesus in this way and in all other ways even when it is hard.
Today, Jesus humbly proclaims the prophecy of Isaiah, and reveals he is the messiah, he is Jesus, the son of God, who, we know, would later unchain us from the hardness of sin and death’s wicked embrace. Despite Jesus’ claim, the Jews don’t fully commit themselves to believing this, and rather, believe he is the son of Joseph and Mary, not the messiah. Because of this, we must not be like them, but rather obtain a rapidly growing confidence and determination within our souls, a persistence that wills us down a meandering path of holiness, helping us faithfully listen to God and harness His grace. Above all, our hearts should churn with eagerness, to prayerfully listen to the written works of the apostles that jolt us further and further forward into God’s unending love. Through this world of dark hatred and unceasing perils, we must nimbly dart forward and will ourselves on a thrilling journey of adventure to spread God’s written works throughout the vast Earth.
By following Jesus, and Jesus only, we develop a deeper relationship with God the Father. We need to praise him, and not other things such as: electronics, food, etc.
No one believed Jesus that he was the son of God. We should pray more and not worry about what others think.
Jesus is seeing how his hometown has changed. Then he talks about how the scripture he has grabbed had been fulfilled by him.
In today’s gospel, Jesus proclaims to the Jews that He is the Messiah. He was sent from God to heal the sick, and give sight to the blind. In today’s world, what He did on Earth gives love, forgiveness, and virtues.
