Listen to the Mass readings today!

Today is the flipping of the Liturgical (Church readings and saint feast days) calendar. It is also St. Andrew’s feast day, the first Apostle called to follow Jesus.

Advent means “coming or arrival”. Who are we preparing our bodies and souls for? Christ, in two ways. First, to remember His birth, Emmanuel-God is with us and eternity lived on earth for 33 years. His revelation about the Kingdom of heaven is given to us and then He saved the world from sin and death by dying on a cross and rising from the dead. Second, we prepare ourselves now in the end times for the Second Coming of Christ. This is why the last two weeks have been about the End Times.

Isaiah says, “that you might meet us doing right, that we were mindful of you in our ways.”

“Why do you let us wander, O Lord, from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not fear you.” Is 63:16,17,19, 64:2-7

Paul says, “as the testimony of Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor 1:3-9

Jesus says, “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” Mk 13:33

Prepare yourself starting today for Christ in your life. He is ready to take you wherever you are in your faith life and bring you closer to Himself. How? Pray/Talk to Him more, do good deeds, cleanse your soul with confession and the Eucharist, and detach yourself from a material possession that you spend too much time with.
