“Lord, I am not worthy for you to enter under my roof, but only say the Word and my servant shall be healed.” Mt 8:5-11

We begin Advent, preparing for Jesus by reading a story about one who had great Faith in Jesus. The Roman centurion (soldier) had such faith he told Jesus that he wasn’t worthy to have God enter his home. He believed and trusted in Jesus. The greatest part of this Gospel is Jesus’s response, “I have not seen such faith in all of Israel.”

The Catholic Church obviously thinks this is an important Scripture reading. Think about when, where, and why we say it in Mass-our greatest prayer!

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, “By His Revelation, ‘the invisible God, from the fullness of his love, addresses men as his friends, moves among them, in order to invite and receive them into his company.’ The adequate response to this is faith.”

“By faith, man completely submits his intellect and will to God. Sacred Scripture calls this human response to God, the obedience of faith.”

Got Faith?

It’s time to check your faith and see if you are prepared to receive Jesus!
