“WELL DONE, GOOD SERVANT!” LK 19:11-28

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading LK 19:11-28: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

Today Jesus uses a parable to teach us what will happen if we use our spiritual gifts the proper way.  Each of us have 2 spiritual powers, an intellect to gain knowledge of God or not and a will to choose God or not.  Each of us who are baptized have gifts of the Holy Spirit: knowledge, understanding, fortitude, fear of the Lord, piety, wisdom, and counsel.

When we use these gifts we received at baptism doing God’s will, we will see the fruits of the Spirit in our lives and we will glorify him: kindness, generosity, charity, faithfulness, self-control, goodness, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, and modesty.  Each one of us is chosen by God for a vocation and in this we learn how to serve and suffer which brings joy.  Love likes to suffer.  God is love.  Jesus suffered on a cross, this brought joy to the world.

Each of us also have specific spiritual gifts and talents like physical gifts and talents.  These Divine gifts are specifically what Christ is talking about in today’s parable.  Bishop Barron comments, “When you receive Divine gifts, they grow if they are given away, they wither and die if you hold onto them.”  We are created to serve.  Give your gifts away and see them grow and benefit others.  This will bring great joy to you.

Today’s challenge: Get off your electronics and help/serve someone this week during Thanksgiving.

Be a servant, be a saint today!

“He saw the city and wept over it,” when you think of Jesus normally you think of him as the best and unbreakable and never has ever cried, but when you see this gospel it’s amazing because we would obviously think “why would Jesus crie? isn’t he the best?” but he weeps for you, he would break bones and as you know, die for you, that’s how much he cares about you i bet there’s no one out there that would actually die on a cross and take all your sins for you. It’s amazing how much he cares about you and most of the time nobody even considers how much that is. He’ll cry for you if you go the wrong way just like if you drive on the wrong side of the road. He loves you so much, nobody could even compare to him.
