Listen to today’s readings at Mass!

Today Paul writes to the Galatians, “For freedom Christ set us free;
so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.”
First, we must define freedom.  Many people confuse this term and it is an important one.  Freedom is NOT doing what you want but doing what is right.  In doing what is right, you get to enjoy the freedom that Christ died for; freedom from sin and death.  The yoke of slavery is sin.  It is easy to sin and hard to not sin.  Cheating at school on an assignment may make it easier today, but harder when you have to study for the test.  Lying to your parents about where you are going to be and who you are going to be with may get you out the door, but in the end you lose their trust and you don’t get to go out again for a long time.  You are only truly free when you do what is right and you get to enjoy peace, calm, joy!  This is what Christ wants for us and what He died for to give us!  So, fight the temptation to lie, cheat, sin and enjoy the gift of freedom the Jesus has purchased for you!  Today, say a special prayer for all service men and women who die for our freedom in America every day!
